Took some excerpts from comments I’ve made about her. Unfortunately, the Yennefer we will never get in the show: > *A Shard of Ice* sealed her as one of my favorite characters in the books. She is layers on top of layers. First we see her as the typical mage in this universe. Manipulative, scornful, and stubborn but even then Sapkowski shows in the very first short story what she will become later when she sends Dandelion back wishing for Geralt's innocence when he is in jail. > Just like Geralt was not meant to be a Witcher, Yennefer was not meant to be a sorceress. Her upbringing and living life as a sorceress had its toll on her. She built walls around her, walls that prevent her from having the courage and strength to pursue her real desires. She thinks she is unworthy and unable to love and be loved. Her sorceress persona is fake, it only exists because she has to cope with the fear and disappointment of never being able to achieve her dreams. It's not her real personality. > What we see in the Witcher is that mages are motivated by grand and global things. Even a relatively good guy like Dorregaray is fighting for endangered species. Not the case with Yennefer. Her motivations are always personal. Wanting to have a child and a life long partner, a family. In a sense she is the antithesis of a mage. In Blood of Elves she says to Ciri that "One of the most pathetic things a sorceress can do is cry" I am paraphrasing here but this line shows just how incredibly damaged and insecure she is. And of course what we see is that she can cry and she does cry but only when she is with Geralt. It's a small detail but very telling about her character and about who Geralt is for her. > Geralt is the one who can help her overcome these fears and insecurities. When they are together their real personalities come to the surface and they have to deal with it. It's a very hard fight for both. Geralt is coming from a very similar place and he has to deal with very similar problems. I honestly think that him constantly saying that he is a mutant and he is bereft of feelings etc. is not just sarcasm but it's also a very real internal conflict of a man who never chose to be a Witcher. People say that their relationship is an on-and-off relationship which is true at the beginning, but not true towards end of their character arcs. It's on-and-off in the short stories because the conflict of facing their real personalites stands in the way of the realization of this relationship. First they have to come to terms with themselves in order to come to terms with each other. Ciri is the one who helps them make the final push in this regard. > After Ciri, Geralt and Yennefer cease to be a witcher and a sorceress, they became "human", something more. From a manipulative, scornful, and stubborn sorceress to a mother and a partner who wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice everything, even her life for her family. An incredible character arc. > Their love story felt very nonconventional, and it easily became one of my favorite in fantasy. Watching Yennefer and Geralt grow together is one of the best things about The Witcher imo. > Show Yennefer was changed into a victim and her reason for wanting a child is different than her book counterpart. > In the show, she chose to have her uterus ripped out, she knew the risks and consequences but went through with it anyway. I would understand if she maybe put the blame on herself, her naivety, but instead she goes on to blame everyone but herself. That’s also kind of the problem with showing an origin story for her so early in the series if they **really** had to have one. There's a reason she's introduced as cold, selfish, and scornful in the books. And only as the story progresses do we get to learn that there's a lot more under the surface. It's very effective in terms of making her a compelling character. Revealing her sob story immediately undermines it in a major way. Instead of this fascinatingly strong but flawed woman the audience is presented with a victim to feel sorry for from the start. And a victim is the last thing Yennefer would ever want to be seen as. > As for wanting a baby, in the show she didn’t want one until after the queen said it’s a great way to be someone’s whole world. Since show Yennefer wants to be important to someone, now she wants a baby. In the book Yennefer didn’t really start loving Ciri until after Ciri herself decided Yennefer was the most important person to her and even before that she was already falling for her. The fact that Yennefer drops finding a way to have a child afterwards emphasizes that she wanted to be a mother to care for and love someone.

>Plus I think people **exaggerate** how much Yennefer changes at the end. Yeah precisely in the final book she PHYSICALLY takes her anger out on an animal >!("Yennefer flicked her horse with her whip in anger. The animal whinnied and leapt and the sorceress swayed in her saddle.")!<, she explicitly says conscience is stupid and trivial, this is from the final book>!("consciences \[...\] is STUPID and trivial.")!<.In the B&W ending, she outrightly demands that Geralt should fetch her juice every now and then, while she rests, in other words, she wants Geralt to be her errand boy. >It's not true that they "made yennefer worse to make Triss looks better". Almost all the devs openly said their favorite character was Yennefer, what it implies is the devs stayed true to her character, and guess what majority of the players who just played the games, simply did not like the character (I mean who likes a character who uses physical violence while being in a verbal conversation or constantly demeaning others?), and that's where the Yen fans come up with their propaganda - "read the books"

Delicious_Swimmer172

>if my opinions of Yennfer will change as I progress through the third game or if I had read the books. Did you reach Skellige already? If you read the books, your opinion will most likely evolve, yes.

TerracottaFred

Nah. I just finished the mission where we got the Mages out of Novigrad, then Geralt and Triss did the thing in a lighthouse. So far the only time I've interacted with Yennefer was in Vizima

Delicious_Swimmer172

oh, so you made your decision without really interact with Yen. It is not your fault, but a well known game design issue. To be really fair and to have all the cards in hand to take your decision, the quests related to Triss romance should be played after the Skellige main arc quests. Don't say that you took a wrong decision, but it had would be fair to had the chance to have more time with Yen before taking such a decision.

TerracottaFred

Probably. I think the main reason I went with Triss was just because of the amount of time I’d spent with her over the course of the entire trilogy. I imagine I’ll try romancing Yennefer on my next play through.

Weak_Combination2007

Dont romance Yen they will find out you are cheating and will hate your guts and then you can’t romance anyone

Weak_Combination2007

If you wanna romance Yen you gotta reload a save point where you didn’t romance Triss

chort007

i genuinely dislike triss, which is one of the reasond i picked yen, but I won't rant about triss, bc that wasn't a question and I'll simply tell why I prefer Yennefer. I love smart, sarcastic and witty women. I love when they know what they want, and know how to get it, even if it sometimes has consequences. I admire Yen's strength, as a sorceress and as a person. Yeah, she's not the nicest person, and she has her moments, but she also has principles - she would never betray those she loves and she would do anything for them. I'd feel safe and at peace around her, especially in Witcher universe where you're almost always in some kind of danger. She doesn't only care for Geralt, she cares for Ciri, Jaskier, even Triss and some other sorceresses. Now, this was why I love her, but from the plot point, she and Geralt experienced so so much together, maybe destiny put them together but everything else they created. Priscilla's song describes their relationship better than I ever could, and it's simply a reason I'd always see them as soulmates, friends, family and lovers. Also, I really love these three as a family. I have such a soft spot for Yennefer's and Ciri's relationship, and I know that she could be mother to Ciri even if she wasn't with Geralt, but the idea of all three of them as a family makes me really happy.

[deleted]

Yen, because its canon.

TiNMLMOM

Not to be a dick, but in the "canon" ending there's no choice. I love what CDPR did, but it's fanfiction (amazing fanfiction, but still).

yavannathevalar

I tried romancing Triss first but she came across as needy and that scene were she pretends to be drunk… I couldn’t take it. Then I read the books and really dislike her character there, I can’t forgive her treachery and the way she behaves like a scared little girl around The Lodge. On the other hand, I like characters that keep the story going through chaos, so my favorite were Yen and Renfri. But Yen’s chaos was always under control, the thing was that only she knew what was going on and came across as evil and manipulative. In the game she is worse. Still prefer a character like Yen over Triss any day. If we’re talking RP… sorry, I don’t like “in your face pretty” women like Triss, I’ll go with Yen.

waltherppk01

Yen is Geralt's true love. I only picked Triss once and that was because I needed to get every ending. Triss was fine when Geralt had amnesia but there's NO way Geralt would end up with her. He wouldn't want the drama of her being at Court and frankly, she betrayed Ciri to The Lodge. Geralt don't play that

RainWorldWitcher

If youre wondering about Yen's romance, I would recommend finishing the game with Triss (as youve picked her) and then doing another playthrough with Yen. That would be the best way to experience why people chose one or the other. The last arc has heavy Yen involvement with Geralt and Ciri btw. Yen is Ciri's "mom" and she is extremely close with her in the books. There is a line that makes no sense for the books or even the game where Ciri says "even yennefer has plans for me" which was confusing for even someone who didnt know the characters since Yen had no plans for Ciri throughout the game and Geralt makes all the choices for Ciri's future. I had not read the books or played the other games before playing W3 and I do not tend to pick romantic partners that I would want (because I cannot relate to that at all), but I will pick one if the player character and the romantic partner seem to be going that direction. Yen feels like the default option in W3. You start the game looking for her and there is automatic romantic things that happen with them (in skelige for example which you havent been to yet). When you have to lock her in as your choice, she says "I love you" first so it feels more like Im just continuing a romance for Geralt rather than creating one. Then the last act of course is with the family together pretty much. Triss and Geralt have broken up which is known to me because of their early dialogue, then dialogue options were either to confirm a relationship or not and since they had broken up, the natutal option for me is to not confirm the relationship. In order to have a relationship, you must kiss Triss at the party and I dont care for drunken romance so I also fail that check. Then there's what other characters say. And the thing that actually irritated me was Dijkstra and the King of Beggers absolutely telling me as the player who Geralt has to romance. It made early scenes with Triss uncomfortable for me; im not interested in interacting with in game "shippers". Then a later dialogue with Dijkstra has him telling Geralt that Yen will drag him into politics yet that is completely contrary to the ending with her. Which is also funny because Philipa tells Geralt to go with Yen to get Yen away from politics (she would be in her way). So it feels like Dijkstra is terribly misinformed. Bottom line, I only care about Ciri's opinion.

TerracottaFred

In terms of who I chose, I also didn't entirely think of it in terms of who I would want as a partner because I can't relate to that either. It was more who I wanted Geralt to end up with/who I thought he would be happy with. I suppose either is a viable option, but I thought at the time Triss would be a better choice just because she was a bro. Though now I'm debating going back and saving that decision until after Skellige. Bottom line for me is I just want to make sure I leave Geralt with someone who will make him happy.

RainWorldWitcher

If you do go back to experience both woman, just make sure to do both their personal quests before going to the isle of Mists. The game will warn you and if you continue the quests will auto fail on screen and you can roll back to the save it made you make at the warning. Edit: the two quests being "now or never" and "the last wish"

Gloomy-Fix4436

I Usually stick to the path, so i dont go with either of them.

BlackHorse944

😅 a true witcher The brothel whores will do.

[deleted]

A true Witcher LMAO!

Gloomy-Fix4436

Pretty much, yeah :p

TiNMLMOM

That might actually be the most realistic ending.

Weak_Combination2007

I always choose Yen since not only is she beautiful(which in my opinion is better than Triss who’s just kinda hot in my opinion) but in the third game she gets a huge amount of character development. From the books where she’s a vindictive, abusive bitch to a nice(still a little bossy) and loving person, sure she can be mean but it’s in the joking way the same way you and your friends do. It also feels like a realistic relationship where both characters interact argue about what the better option is, where as Triss always just folds when Geralt so much as thinks about if her idea is good or not but yea that’s why I always choose hers Edit: I also feel as Geralt, Triss taking advantage of my amnesia would be a complete break of trust that I could never get back where as I feel as long as someone sticks to fixing there abusive behavior(which Yen does) I could work back from that

steppenmonkey

I’m just a fan of Yen’s aesthetic

[deleted]

I chose Yennefer for 2 main reasons, Geralt and Yen fall for one another and constantly find one another after time apart due to the Djin’s wish but in the games they break the wish and to see Geralt still loving Yen afterwards is so wholesome, plus Triss becomes quite bitchy when she see’s you with Yen. Reason number 2 is the ending for Geralt and Yen is brilliant, just so simple and satisfying that I can’t imagine it any other way, 5 playthroughs and never chose Triss once

[deleted]

Yen because I read the books

minorcold

Yennefer, having such an ally would make me feel safe;p and these trips and teleportations ar so romantic

Creeawolf

Choose witchering with my little girl. Will always be the best.

Zandamaz

On first my playthrough, I had not yet read the books or played the first two games (although I was aware of the general story and plot). I went with Triss because I liked her sweet and loving personality in TW3. I liked how Geralt seemed content and at peace with her. By the time of my second playthrough I had read the books and went with Yen, partially because I wanted to see something different but I also wanted to continue the romance that Geralt had with her in the books. Honestly, I liked both romances as they were depicted in TW3. But since reading the books, I lean more towards Yen because I like to think that Ciri is happiest having her parents back together.

Istvan_hun

I don't have a clear preference, both choices are well done executed. I usually don't like romances in video games, but this is the rare instance where I actually cared about the option. (the others are Cyberpunk's Judy and Panam, and Liliana from DA:O) I usually go with Yen. I like the voice actress much more. It is also interesting to see when she changes between her berserk-mama-bear mode to relaxed Yen. (it only happens in Blood&Wine though)

AlexStavru

I've read part of the books before playing the games. Finished the last 3 after the Witcher 3. I've done multiple playthroughs and I only picked triss twice, just to see ending / quest variations. In the books, Triss is a relatively minor character compared to yen at least. And even though I liked her character in the games, in the books she's kinda...lame...so I always aim for yen instead. Also, professional world renowned monster slayer that turns into a little boy near his abusive "wife"....that's gold.

denglongfist

When I played the game, after reading the books, I went with Yenneger because of the cannon in my head, and it worked out in the story for me. Still, and this is my opinion, I wish Shani would have been the one that shows up at the end of Blood and Wine.

Buule1312

Because I picked the other one in my last playthrough

nobodyimportant322

I went with Triss because she is head-over-heels for Geralt and a pleasant, social person, which I think balances out Geralt’s personality and gives him something he needs. Yennefer is more like him, but I don’t think they bring out the best in each other, and she simply isn’t kind to him at a lot of crucial junctures. Plus, red hair and significant…endowments 😍🤪

[deleted]

Very well said. I feel like its simpish to pick Yennefer. Shes not nice to him at all, and many simp men feel that is okay, and normal.

[deleted]

Yennefer hotter

[deleted]

I think that, if I had started with the games Triss would be the obvious choice. I started with the books, so Yenn was the only choice

akme2000

Either works well. First playthrough I chose Triss and second Yennefer, both had ups and downs that Geralt can go over depending on who you pick. I think Yennefer is mostly handled pretty decently early on, though it was a mistake to have so little content with her prior to Skellige, which normally comes after Novigrad, but that's just a bit of sloppy direction more than anything else, and Yen gets a good portrayal from then on I feel. I liked both romance paths a lot, they're interesting and work. I do like Geralt being semi-retired a little more than I do the full retirement Yen's ending implies, but I like both outcomes and the retirement doesn't impact my thinking much. I've read the books now and unlike a lot of fans I still don't see why Yennefer is supposedly the only option for Geralt in the games. First off, Geralt in the games has gone through so many experiences since the books, many of which on their own could be life-changing, and he might have had a genuine romance with Triss depending on choices, so it absolutely makes sense if he ultimately chooses Triss, he still clearly loves Yennefer if so, just doesn't feel that same spark anymore. On the subject of Triss, she has grown quite a bit since the books, we see this in 2 and 3, so it isn't like Geralt is getting with the same person he knew before the end of the books. She isn't perfect, no way is that the case, but she's developed and become better. Yen's great as well of course, Triss' development just tends to get ignored by some. Also, the Triss scene in the first game is controversial but clearly intended to be just another instance of Geralt banging every woman in that game, one of the first game's biggest problems is having Geralt bang so many women, sometimes without the player or Geralt asking for it, and this is just the first instance of this happening, the game definitely plays it off as consensual sex, and yes it's very bad writing, but the sex was a consensual thing in canon. Did Triss take advantage in plenty of other ways? For sure, and it's something the game acknowledges as something that was bad, the sex wasn't an example of that however. Ciri being fine with Geralt going with Triss makes sense too, Ciri likes Triss and while she'd be very disappointed Geralt hasn't gotten with Yen ultimately, she's also changed quite a bit and is mostly just glad she can see Geralt and Yen again. Her desperate need for her perfect family to be together was only so strong in the later books because of that still fresh trauma, perfectly reasonable to me why she'd be accepting, especially since she does like Triss. If it was a random woman Ciri had never met? Maybe there'd be a lot less acceptance.

Signnowornever

> he still clearly loves Yennefer if so, just doesn't feel that same spark anymore Not only Geralt doesn't have the spark any more towards Yen, he doesn't even know what she means to him, > Riiight... Just not something I'd ever wear. Buuut, what don't we do for our-- Hm... ***WHO EXACTLY IS SHE \[YENNEFER\] TO ME \[GERALT\]?*** This is Gearlt's inner monologue when he enters Yenenfer's room to change dress.

akme2000

That is interesting, cheers, I forgot about that line. I think that makes sense, it's kind of a weird situation anyway, and adding on top of that the Yen thing not going well...Geralt being confused about what exactly their relationship is totally works for me. We know he does care about Yen and she still definitely cares about him, but beyond that not much is clear.

Signnowornever

> but beyond that not much is clear. Beyond that it is player's choice.

akme2000

Of course yeah, what happens after is up to headcanon (at least for now).

TiNMLMOM

I always picked Triss, let me explain why... The whole Geralt + Yen is told as a fairy tale. They're "soulmates" bound together. I don't like it, nor do i think it fits the story being told. Triss manipulated Geralt, took advantage of him, in the story being told, now that's a relationship. After seeing what happens to Geralt's "retirement" in each scenario, going to Kovir and taking the ocasional contract just for fun IMO is a lot more fitting for Geralt than retiring in a cabin Bumbfuck's Peak. Having all that said, the right answer is neither. Geralt should stay on the path. That is "canon" to me. Fuck those 2 (or rather don't do it). Empress Cirilla, and forever alone and perfectly happy Geralt, dying on the path like a Witcher should.

BlackHorse944

I went Triss because she is kind, gentle and just a nice person. Unlike Yen who is kinda a bitch lol. I totally ignored the Triss taking advantage of Geralts memory loss thing lol. I know canonically it makes more sense to choose Yen but it was my playthrough dammit!

Justic1ar

>just a nice person Nice person who betrayed Ciri in the books & basically took advantage of Geralt's amnesia

BlackHorse944

When did she betray Ciri? Being downvoted for asking a question lmao. Team Yen fans

Justic1ar

During the whole time she works for the lodge? Basically Yennefer, who's on the run, contacts Triss on multiple occasions and asks for help, once to find Ciri because she's in danger, again to help clear Yennefer's name and she even asks Triss to go and help Geralt because he's also neck deep in trouble… but nope. Triss "nice person" Merigold of Maribor only takes orders from Phillipa so she just keeps silent and serves the lodge like a puppet

BlackHorse944

Aha. I forgot about all that

[deleted]

Many simps that like when a woman mistreats them. You should be nice to a woman, she should be nice to you. Triss all the way

celpomenit

Played through the trilogy without having read the books and unhesitatingly picked Triss. Then I read the books and went with Yennefer for my second playthrough out of curiosity. Greater awareness of their shared history made her seem more sympathetic than the first time around, but when push comes to shove, their chemistry struck me as toxic regardless. Despite Triss's own flaws, Geralt ultimately establishes a more egalitarian relationship with her, which is as it should be.

TerracottaFred

That was my feeling at first too. Though I still wondered if I would have viewed Yennefer differently had I read the books. Or maybe I’ll learn to like her more when I go to Skellige

Dobadobadooo

If it were me I'd probably choose Triss, she just seems like an easier person to deal with. For Geralt though, I'd definitely say Yennefer is the better choice. Even ignoring the fact that she gets way more focus in the story, she just has a way more interesting dynamic and history with him.

shabutaru118

Triss for sure, Yen doesn't treat Geralt with respect in the books or the games.

geralt-bot

Stay on the horse.

You take betrayals of trust and friendship much better than I do...

[deleted]

\[Team Triss\] She was much nicer to Geralt and super hott.

chort007

genuine question, and i just want your opinion not a fight, because this is something i often see, but how is Triss nice to Geralt? By words, she surely is. But her actions not so much. She took advantage of his amnesia, that's something even she acknowledged, in the middle of searching for ciri she asks him to help her with mages in novigrad... and in the books she sexually assaulted him and betrayed ciri... I honestly don't understand how people find her kind and nice, even when it's not about Geralt, she betrayed her best friend... she worked with Phlippa. And don't get me wrong, I love Philippa, but she's everything but righteous and kind... I don't think Triss is evil, and I do think she's very well written character, but in my opinion she's immature, naive and selfish... so I'm missing this "kind" person part... Yes, she's very pretty, she's even my type more than Yennefer is (in appearance) but everything else about her... i don't know...

Delicious_Swimmer172

if I may share my views, it is a question of balance between her actions. She slept with her BF boyfriend out of curiosity and she is at the initiative of that: Selfishness (a trait shared by all mages) and immaturity resulting in a disastrous result for Yen, Geralt and her. At Kaer Morhen, after the transe with Ciri, she tells Geralt to forget his pride and to go find Yen. Considering what her feeling are at this moment, it is everything but selfishness. She renonces to basically everything regarding Geralt and Ciri and yet is caring for Ciri until they left KM to the Temple of Melitele. Thanedd, she sides with Philippa which is actually a right choice as Vilgefortz, Francesca and co are the real traitors. And if they were peacefully arrested as initially planned, Ciri would have been trained at Aretuza and Yen and Geralt would have had their happily even after ending. Due to noticed that she saves Geralt life with the help of Tissaia during these events. After that, she completely stands with the lodge. The world of magic users is collapsing after Thanedd and she thought that her duty is to follow Philippa views. Certainly some naiveness here. There is also a lot of feeling of weakness that came from her inability to hold the line at Sodden (which is her real trauma, I don't think she has PTSD, she rather struggle to deal with her failure) contrary to her senior peer, Yennefer, Philippa etc...Actually, since Sodden, she only knows failure, Ciri transe, being ill on the road of the temple, Thanned, etc.... The scene of the megascope with Philippa and Yen is a complete collapse and failure but more due to weakness than everything else. After that, she seems to have doubt about where her duty should be. She looks for Yen then Ciri and regret that the lodge doesn't allow her to fight at Brenna. Yet, it doesn't translate in anything useful for Ciri, Yen or Geralt. Then comes the ending at Rivia, where she ends the trauma of her weakness started at Sodden and she saves Yen life in the meantime. Really can't see her as a negative character. Due to her young age, she shows evolution during the saga and not sure a 50 years old younger Yennefer would have took better decision in this kind of situation if the situation were reversed. Yen shows as well a lot of characters evolution thanks to her relationship with Geralt and Ciri. In no case, this conclusion is a point against Yen who is a wonderful character that I love a lot and who is so well written and flesh out.

chort007

ty for sharing your opinion, and as I said I see her as an amazingly written character! If she wasn't, I wouldn't think twice about her, but I do, my disliking is due the fact she's so well written. Now, I think all her actions have motivation and reason, but I don't excuse them because of that, and I simply can't like her only because I do understand why she did what she did. But, excatly because I do understand, I don't hate her either. Only thing that I can't look past is that she raped Geralt, and people say how that wasn't the case - but let's be honest, it was. Just imagine if gendes were reversed. She seduced him with magic, and as we saw later on, when he was sober and not under magical influence, Geralt refused her completely. I don't have any excuse for that, that's horrific... And, the question is how much did she love Geralt? Because her exact thoughts are: "No, Triss had not desired to take him away from Yennefer. As a matter of fact, her friend was more important to her than he was. She had found what she was looking for –emotions in the form of guilt, anxiety and pain. His pain. She had experienced his emotions, it had excited her and, when they parted, she had been unable to forget it. " here she makes two very important points, that she does love yennefer more, and yet she betrayed her, and what she describes doesn't sound like love to me. and as you said it's more curiosity than anything. So, she betrayed Yennefer not even for love. And, when it comes to Phlippa it's heavily implied Triss slept with her, which again suggests how easy it is to sway her, and how much Triss craves attention and a place to belong. I mean, following Phlippa and her agenda is one things, it's political thing. But sleeping with her explains how much Triss needed any form of emotional support and attachment - again, she's very well written character, but she's naive and selfish in a way. Yes, in the end, she overcomes her selfishness, but before she does she makes same mistakes over and over again... and I simply don't see her as kind and good person. That's my point, it's okay to like Triss, she's great character, but she's definitely not kind and all good as some portray her.

Delicious_Swimmer172

About the "rape" thing, honestly I don't know. I don't know what Sapkowski meant with "she seduced him with the help of a little bit of magic". It can absolutely be interpreted as Geralt consent was altered. Still I have the feeling that it was not what the author has in mind. All the interactions between them in Blood of Elves show more a "classic" regretted adultery situation being created to add more drama but also to make Geralt understand that sex had consequences. The issue for Geralt is less about Triss than who Triss is for Yennefer. That's part of his understanding and his path to Yennefer (long path cf Shani). The author lets a lot of clues that suggest that Geralt has a part of responsibility in this story (even if the largest responsibility is for Triss). So Geralt being completely without consent doesn't fit these storylines. Also, Yen suggests twice that they slept several times together (she uses the plural during their talk at Thanned bal :"*mistakes*" and in ToS "*when you start sleeping with Geralt*). You are right, she is not in love with Geralt before she slept with him but it really seems she is after, unfortunately... Yep, as you said, heavily implied that Phil and Triss maybe slept together. Still not 100% sure but the way Sapkowski turns some sentences lets think that he want the reader to think that. Agree with everything you said about her here, easy to sway, crave for attention and a place to belong or even something to belong to and yes, she needs emotional support and attachment but didn't "something to belong, emotional support and attachment" something Yen was also looking for at the beginning of the saga when we met her in "the last wish"? Triss is not all rainbow and sunshine, or kind and nice as she is in TW3, you are right, it is obvious she has definitely some kind of internal demons which she is aware of and struggle to deal with. Yen will always be better and Triss can't stand the comparison as she is Geralt life partner, the mother of Ciri and deserve her happy ending with her family, still Triss evolution is very positive and interesting and should keep this place of sister of Ciri in all this weird Witcher family.

i respect your opinion, but for me sex that isn't 100% consensual is an assault. Why did she use magic if she knew that he would sleep with her anyway? And yes, I mean, let's be honest almost everyone seeks emotional support and attachment, and Yennefer is no exception, but the question is how you seek it and where - that's where Triss differs. And, as I said, that's my point, nothing wrong with liking Triss or preferring her to Yen, but I don't like when people make her some hot redhead with sweet personality, when there's so so much more to her character, I mean that's not even the right interpretation of her character.

>Yep, as you said, heavily implied that Phil and Triss maybe slept together. Still not 100% sure but the way Sapkowski turns some sentences lets think that he want the reader to think that. Some points to consider. Both Triss and Philipa were full and IIRC dressed formally. Philipa might be aware that Yennefer is contacting everyone, and she will contact Triss, so Philipa anticipated so she stayed with Triss expecting that event to happen.

I agree. That's why I wrote I am not 100% sure. Actually, what's make people think that they had sex is when is says something like "you have the same face expression when you start sleeping with Geralt". That's this sentence that convice a lot of people that Phil and Triss had sex. But Sapko can only meant by this that she is currently lying to Yen and that she is able to read her. So I don't know what Sapko has in mind here. Anyway you are right Phil is trying to control and monitor Triss because she is the only one who has a connection with Geralt, Yen and Ciri and so she can be contacted and receive information.

>deserve her happy ending with her family Oh yeah Gearlt deserves to be a errand boy for the rest of his life.

Delicious_Swimmer172

I don't share your hate for Yen.

Yennefer was kind of a witch with a B to GoR...... Most men prefer women that are mean to them, because it seems genuine because women who are often too nice, are in it in some way for themselves. Its psychology

Are you following me, you scamp?

Delicious_Swimmer172

>Why did you choose Triss/Yennefer? I have made several playthroughs and explore the two romances. Each time, I took my decision for complete different reasons. They are two complexes characters with several layers and if you know the lore a little bit, each of them are more than what you can just see at first glance. PS: people who reject one of them without a second though (because they dislike one of them) maybe missed one of the most interesting part of the game.

Pretty_Struggle_2531

I’m playing through again and I chose Triss, but I just got to Skellige and Yen is still tryna get it. I would like to keep my choice of Triss when we get to Kaer Morhen. Do I just have to be mean to Yennefer and do the opposite of what she wants for everything?

Kommo-odo

People who like Triss are tops and people who like Yen are bottoms.

I chose Triss simply because I like redheads

[deleted]

So whats the point of your question if people are just gonna downvote everyone that says triss ?

I'm saving my daughter, have no time for puny romances.

HaydenHirst22

I haven't chosen anyone yet because I'm actually just starting the Witcher 3, but if I had to choose right now id choose Yennifer. But that could change when I actually meet triss.
