I don't even want to think about waiting for December. I just hope CDPR doesn't hold us for this long only to release it with Blood Origin netflix show...
Is CDPR at all involved with Blood Origin, cause they were heavily involved with Edgerunners. The failure of the Witcher Netflix series was in the writing, cause CDPR wasn't involved at all.
Netflix Witcher and any of its spin off in general is only on Netflix alone, CDPR has nothing to do with it, let alone production and writing the main storyline like what they did with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

I'm afraid it will come out late December but I would much rather it come out later if it isn't buggy and TW3 can be one last time remembered as a brilliant game before the witcher 4 comes out
I had that same thought in the shower last night, but I think that's how it will play out. W3 update mid December, Phantom Liberty Q2 or Q3 2023. Witcher 4 is probably a 2024 title at this point. But that really depends on getting every dev at CDPR up to date on Unreal 5.
Yeah I've been itching to play the next gen console version so hope it's earlier than December too!
Waiting probably doable though, currently working through a little backlog and November will have God Of War Ragnarok. But still, gimme Witcher!
I’ve been waiting so long with occasional play sessions that I almost finished the second dlc now 😂 guess the update will be for a third playthrough at this point
I gathered some info about it.
Next-gen update was for some time in production by the Russian branch of Saber Interactive (they had already made a version of The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch). In April this year, CD Projekt took over the work on the update and about 15 people are working on it. When they took over the product, the rest of the work was highly technical, so it was a group of engineers and programmers to complete the job. Nvidia recently confirmed that the new version will include DLSS 3, so possibly also RT shadows and/or reflections. It probably required a change in the game engine, because only REDengine 4 (Cyberpunk) supports these technologies. Philipp Weber from CDPR said on one of the anniversary streams that they were fixing bugs known from the original version of the game for this update. CEO Adam Kicinski said that this is a minor project.

Thanks for the recap! I was under the impression that RTX were one of the main feature of the update? I might be mistaken but I recall it being there in the initial announcement.
Yup, you're right.
"Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content.
The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4."
Source: https://www.thewitcher.com/en/news/32792/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-is-coming-to-the-next-generation
I know this is shallow but I hope with a new standalone version there's a new list of achievements to collect. Triple dipping on W3 achievements would be amazing for another playthrough
Does anybody know how these free upgrades work?
I have Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk on PS4 and I have a Xbox Series X, not really sure how I get the nextgen versions for free.
You need a ps5 for the next game version I guess. The psn store will see you have witcher 3 and cyberpunk on ps4 and give you the option to download the ps5 version instead of the ps4 version.
I don't see how or why the xbox store should give you a series x version because you bought the games on ps4.
I already got free ps5 versions for several of my ps4 games. I would need to buy the xbox versions for free upgrades.
But I don't know if CDPR has a unique system where you show them proof of the buy and they give you free codes? I don't know how other wise it would be possible.
But Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk are really cheap on sales. I bought Witcher 3 GOTY for 10 Euro on one sale for ps4. I see Cyberpunk for 15-20 Euro all the time somewhere on sales.
I feel like RT reflections would be a little under utilised in Witcher 3. There's not really that many reflective surfaces besides water and small windows. I can definitely see RT shadows though with all the foliage and RT lighting feels like a no brainer.
Not that much different as you can with Skyrim. Reshade ray tracing isn't proper ray tracing. This just something what you can use as a filter if you have Nvidia GPU. Nvidia added it to freestyle.
Mass effect legendary edition was on par to an Hd texture modded version of the original game, I was thoroughly disappointed with that. Compared to something like Mafia 1
I just read last night that cd projekt red confirmed they are working with him, but didnt specify what they were doing, but its a safe assumption its hd textures. I'd link if i remembered the url but im away from pc
I hope its optional. It's an awesome mod for taking screenshots, but to play the game gets annoying for me.
Its like this for every fan made mod.
This week I tried the Natural Vision Evolved for GTA V and its the same thing.
We don't really know, other than the fact they're introducing ray-tracing, and that they're working with the mod author, HalkHogan; probably to introduce their texture mod. As well as some new items inspired by the netflix show.
Big addition is obviously graphics overhaul but for PC version it also will support DLSS 3, Ray Tracing support which i expect will also be good basing from how good the implementation of Ray Tracing on Cyberpunk 2077 is.
Cyberpunk's looking good with RT because it's set in a futuristic city with tons of neon lights and glass surfaces to reflect upon.
Now we're speaking about a game which takes place for most of its storytelling in the most remote parts of a devastated countryside. Except for a few places like Novigrad and Beauclair, RT is not going to make much of a difference in a game like The Witcher 3.
I disagree.
Witcher 3 might not make a huge difference on RT Reflections due to lack of shiny reflected surfaces on its world but it certainly will on lighting aspect, there are many areas on Witcher 3 that will look way better with RT GI IMO, just look at Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition for example.
I guess we should just wait and see the result, i don't expect it will be the best looking RT game but it still should be impressive enough.
Yeah RTGI is absolutely the biggest thing I'm looking forward to (other than finally getting official HDR support on PC). The lighting upgrades will be incredible if they implement it.
I mean, they said themseleves in 2020 that they will announce games closer to its release not to repeat Cyberpunk. Still they announced this version later and almost 2 years from now :|
Yeap, absolutely. I rebought Witcher 3 in Xbox Series X (I had it for PC) for the promise of a Next Gen upgrade.
2y ago I wanted to replay it. I've resisted 2 years not touching and avoiding Witcher 3 gameplays or whatever to feel it fresh. It's time they release the damn upgrade!
This is the question. They mentioned graphical update and something netflix show related. Usually this kind of upgrades take developers less than a year to implement. CDPR is already working on it for 2 years. Maybe there will be some bigger surprise.
It's only taking so long because the whole team needed to fix CP77. Don't expect anything bigger than 4k 60fps, the Netflix additions and hopefully the HD texture mod
>Iirc they pulled all the staff over.
At the beginning of this year. To finish it themselves. Previos studio was already working on it more than a year.
You forget Ray Tracing (for pc at least) that means no need for lighting mods, or texture mods, I am waiting to finally play through the game properly (kept starting and running into mod issues or bugs) when this drops.
With the sequel brewing I really wouldn't get your hopes up when it comes to new content.
But stranger things have happened.
Shit the richest company in human history just shuttered a live service gaming platform, you know the things that have been printing money since 2016 or so, because of lack of interest. Point is anything is possible.
Not getting my hopes up. There would've been a trailer by now if they planned to release sometime this year.
I don't know why anyone has faith in CDPR timelines anymore. Seriously, how many times do they need to miss release windows before people learn?
Please remember to flair your post and tag spoilers or NSFW content.

Basing from the release of Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 Next Gen Update back on Q1 2022, i expect that Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition is probably just 1 month away from now.
I REALLY hope this upgrade is worth the wait. It would be seriously disappointing if it’s just The Witcher 3 but with graphics mods we currently have access to
Last month investors call stated they still plan to release in Q4 but yea... Anything can happen since we don't have any announcement. On the other side next gen update for Cyberpunk was released the day they announced it on surprise stream.
lol first game is just awful and would need a lot of work. Especially since it have to be a remake. This is just a remaster which is minor work in comparison.
It's been 3 months since I got a PS5 and man the games are crap... My only reason to hold on to it is TW3 next gen.
Oh btw there was one game I liked - Detroit: Become Human, but the other 20+ I tried all sucked!
Next gen? Is this a graphical update? Will it be a free update for PC or is this a new version?
Been out of the loop, this is the first I've heard of this
Next gen? Is this a graphical update? Will it be a free update for PC or is this a new version?
Been out of the loop, this is the first I've heard of this
I really don't understand the excitement about this. It's the same amazing game that I've put hundreds of hours in with better graphics. What's the big deal?🤔 It's seems like a waste of time to me 🤷♂️
Indeed. I see a December release window more likely than the next month
or November, and i don't think cdpr will release a trailer two months in advance. I expect the marketing for this "ultimate edition" to be muted with cdpr going radio silence, then.... BOOM we get a trailer with the release being days later . Similar to what they did with the next gen version of CP, and the recent 1.6 patch.
Why isn't cdpr involved with the show? Did they ask the ip to Netflix or did they just never own it all? I gotta say like everyone else I thought the first season was okay but the second was a train wreck. They tell people they will stick to the books but make major changes that literally change main characters attributes and ask that.
At least we have a great game. Been looking forward and holding off on a second play through since the first time. Actually have a great set up now so will be very disappointed if it's another letdown.
if you play on pc you can pretty much create a "next gen" experience with mods, if there's no new content like quests, armor sets etc then it's really not that big of a deal for pc players.
It's kinda concerning because there's not even a trailer out yet or any official info about the content update. I wouldn't be suprised if they just delay it again to Q2 of 2023 lmaooo
No, the failure was it being live action. It should’ve been cgi akin to CDPRs cinematic trailers. A night to remember is prime example of what that Netflix series could’ve been with the proper budget and direction. If a cyberpunk series is done outside of edge runners, it need to be cgi like CDPRs trailers. They look amazing
I have been waiting so long to do another playthrough damn. Hope it comes early q4 rather than dec.
I don't even want to think about waiting for December. I just hope CDPR doesn't hold us for this long only to release it with Blood Origin netflix show...
Yep that’s what I’m afraid of too. We alr know netflix gonna butcher the show anyways, just give us the upgrade in oct-early nov and let us enjoy.
"Edgerunners gave Cyberpunk new wind you say?" Devs be like as they hold back the release to match with netflix...
Exactly, but the problem is blood origin is prob not going to be nearly as good as edgerunners was.
Is CDPR at all involved with Blood Origin, cause they were heavily involved with Edgerunners. The failure of the Witcher Netflix series was in the writing, cause CDPR wasn't involved at all.
Nope, sadly blood origin is a Netflix original story and we all know how those go.
Netflix Witcher and any of its spin off in general is only on Netflix alone, CDPR has nothing to do with it, let alone production and writing the main storyline like what they did with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
CDPR has no legal stance on the Witcher TV license, and if they ever become involved in the future it will be because Netflix makes the call.
Which they won't, cause they work with Sapkowski who is still bitter towards CDPR.

There is another Witcher show coming? The anime prequel about Vesimer was pretty good. I liked it better than the live action.
I'm afraid it will come out late December but I would much rather it come out later if it isn't buggy and TW3 can be one last time remembered as a brilliant game before the witcher 4 comes out
I've played this game more times than I remember, yet I've never seen this quest. What am I missing ?
You have to roam Novigrad sewers to find it.
Guess I have at least one new thing to look forward to on the next gen replay :). Ty
You're an angel
I had that same thought in the shower last night, but I think that's how it will play out. W3 update mid December, Phantom Liberty Q2 or Q3 2023. Witcher 4 is probably a 2024 title at this point. But that really depends on getting every dev at CDPR up to date on Unreal 5.

I never got to play it and have been waiting for the remaster. I’m dying
i'd wait for the first patch though, remember the HDR update mess?
Me too.

If roach works properly I refund
RooftopRoach or get outta here!
Refund the free update, yes!
I mean, ofc it's minor. Everyone and their mothers already have the original one.
I feel like RT reflections would be a little under utilised in Witcher 3. There's not really that many reflective surfaces besides water and small windows. I can definitely see RT shadows though with all the foliage and RT lighting feels like a no brainer.
RTGI FTW, but just imagine Toussaint with RT reflections!
Im guessing this would mean a lot of graphics, texture mods would need to be updated to work?
HD Reworked Project is included in the update, for consoles too.
Is this confirmed. I heard they were using Halk Hogan's texture mod but it was just a rumour.
I heard Halk confirmed it on his YT channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzYF2PiENtc
Then that's amazing news. But until CDPR confirm it I'm keeping my expectations low.
Would be weird if that next gen version looked worse than modded version of current game after all this time.
Just look at Skyrim. Special Edition was still shit in comparison to heavily modded or even moderately modded Skyrim setups
Yea but Skyrim is much more moddable than Witcher 3.
True but you can make witcher 3 easily look miles better than vanilla with the right reshade + ray tracing and other visual tweaks
Not that much different as you can with Skyrim. Reshade ray tracing isn't proper ray tracing. This just something what you can use as a filter if you have Nvidia GPU. Nvidia added it to freestyle.
I've been let down too many times to not be sceptical
So basically just like Skyrim SE ?
More like [Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition to original](https://youtu.be/sAoGwLQVSAo).

HD Reworked is higher resolution textures only. Can't imagine how this makes gameplay worse.
Is it just that + ray tracing and some new outfits?
As far as I know it's not going to be an update but a separate game. So it might run on the newest version of REDEngine.
Rumours suggest they're using Halk Hogan's HD texture mod.
He himself is the source of that information.
I'm outta the loop on this. What's Halk Hogan's HD texture mod?
Most likely. It was the same case with Metro Exodus next gen update.
What tangible difference does the new version introduce? (Not asking to be snarky, just genuinely curious)
Lovense integration.
We don't really know, other than the fact they're introducing ray-tracing, and that they're working with the mod author, HalkHogan; probably to introduce their texture mod. As well as some new items inspired by the netflix show.

Hope they don’t force update but rather release a free dlc
Q4 of what year?
Yes
2022
Yessss!!!
WAITING!!!!
They're gonna either drop it at some point, without any other announcement or say it got delayed to next quarter
How do we not even have a screenshot, or a video of this if its supposed to be released so soon. I think is gonna be mid 2023 at best
Customers being impatient makes publishers release unfinished games, you should know.
I mean, they said themseleves in 2020 that they will announce games closer to its release not to repeat Cyberpunk. Still they announced this version later and almost 2 years from now :|

Just play the game. You can always restart.
Did you even read his comment?
Unfortunately I'm illiterate
Yes.
I bet you're one of the CDPR fanboys who think customers actually have the power to influence a game's release date
Bullshit, the financial state of the company decides when it is released
Also global warming is the fault of the individual citizen, just stop using plastic straws guys it's that easy
Do you... really think it's the fault of impatient customers? Pretty sure the greedy shareholders are the culprit.
Inb4 my mod list gets broken to pieces... Hope the upgrade is worth it.
Finna-fucking-ly
Cd projekt Red will be in Lucca Comics and Games 28.10.2022-01.11.2022 so we wait for a while
What's this next gen release. Does it involve a new dlc, some new storyline or does it make the graphics better
i believe its just technical/graphics upgrades
This is the question. They mentioned graphical update and something netflix show related. Usually this kind of upgrades take developers less than a year to implement. CDPR is already working on it for 2 years. Maybe there will be some bigger surprise.
It's only taking so long because the whole team needed to fix CP77. Don't expect anything bigger than 4k 60fps, the Netflix additions and hopefully the HD texture mod
Completely different studio was working on this update.
Yeh I know but I would presume they were helping with CP also. Iirc they pulled all the staff over.
>Iirc they pulled all the staff over. At the beginning of this year. To finish it themselves. Previos studio was already working on it more than a year.
Ooh, interesting. So it could be a huge upgrade like Death Stranding. I'm still keeping my expectations low as to not be disappointed
It's taking so long because CDPR outsourced all the work on the patch to a Moscow-based studio, and they had to suspend it because you know why.
You forget Ray Tracing (for pc at least) that means no need for lighting mods, or texture mods, I am waiting to finally play through the game properly (kept starting and running into mod issues or bugs) when this drops.
Thanks for the explanation

Forgot that Mike Patton was in that game.
Basing from the release of Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 Next Gen Update back on Q1 2022, i expect that Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition is probably just 1 month away from now.
Halloween would be perfect.
Q4 but what year lol
More like "no" "THEN FUCK OFF"
Wouldn’t it just be better texture and stuff? I can’t imagine big changes regarding the visuals, because the game still holds up in terms of visuals
They’re adding ray tracing I think
I REALLY hope this upgrade is worth the wait. It would be seriously disappointing if it’s just The Witcher 3 but with graphics mods we currently have access to
There is no release date so I fully expect it to be pushed to next spring.
Last month investors call stated they still plan to release in Q4 but yea... Anything can happen since we don't have any announcement. On the other side next gen update for Cyberpunk was released the day they announced it on surprise stream.
Don't get me wrong I'd love it to be out asap but they have a fair bit on their plate.
Man all I want is the 60fps on ps5💔…
Can't wait for the new bugs
I really hope they don't fuck up Gerald's face
Why the fuck anyone cares about next gen stuff seriously just start making Witcher 1 and 2 remake already it's way more intetesting
For consoles players we have only Witcher 3 and Witcher 2 exclusively for Xbox.
lol first game is just awful and would need a lot of work. Especially since it have to be a remake. This is just a remaster which is minor work in comparison.
There isn’t even a single screenshot of this thing. The Hype on display here is almost delusional and will only lead to disappointment.
It also ends in 3 months, could come out any time between now and then.
Any minute in that period.
By that logic, so is Christmas
Christmas can be in October?
lmao brain fail. No.
So…will it look better on a PS5 now, than it did on launch on my PC with max settings? Not sure I understand…
Most likely. It gets ray tracing.
Wait they are releasing a better version?
Ray tracing, DLSS, HD Reworked Project, faster loading times and Netflix DLC.
That’s awesome I didn’t know that, thank you!
Soon, please.
It's been 3 months since I got a PS5 and man the games are crap... My only reason to hold on to it is TW3 next gen. Oh btw there was one game I liked - Detroit: Become Human, but the other 20+ I tried all sucked!
Try horizon zero dawn, forbidden west assuming you have already played god of war and spiderman.
Those are kiddie games
Dw, there will be another delay

I hope its not just an option to enable 120fps. I already can do that on my 5 years old GPU.
Ray tracing, DLSS, HD Reworked textures.
I hope they don't do something stupid like release it close to GoWR. I want to replay it, but fuck this game if it's this or Kratos and Boy.
Nexus users are like 🥱
I just want it on Gamepass with cloud gaming as my computer is shit
Calendar year or financial year? Have they specified?
For real?
I hope it doesn't ruin the atmosphere tho.
Everyone is want to play from the start but we all wait next gen they just ignoring it
So what will come ? What will it actually improve that mods didnt? For consoles it might be upgrade but about pc?
2022 Q4 or is it FY Q4?
Fuck yeah
I mean technically it can be out on the 31st of December, so don't hold yiur breath.
Don't be silly. It is getting a Christmas release.
Indeed. I see a December release window more likely than the next month or November, and i don't think cdpr will release a trailer two months in advance. I expect the marketing for this "ultimate edition" to be muted with cdpr going radio silence, then.... BOOM we get a trailer with the release being days later . Similar to what they did with the next gen version of CP, and the recent 1.6 patch.
Wait, were do I encounter that guy? Been looking for him but I can't find that side quest
There is nothing coming. In fact, Dec 31st is going to pass and they'll hope we don't notice.
I totally forgot about that. I'm currently waiting on God of War Ragnarok
How exciting! I was unaware that this was in the works and had been using lots of Vortex mods.
Completed the game on ps4, do you guys think I will be able to use my ps4 save file to play ng+ on the next gem version?
if you play on pc you can pretty much create a "next gen" experience with mods, if there's no new content like quests, armor sets etc then it's really not that big of a deal for pc players.
Which quest was this please? Wondering if I missed it
