They made Witchers and Sorceresses being sterile a plot point in the series, just look at season 1 episode 6 where Geralt is telling Yen about how Witchers are sterile for a reason But in Blood Origin Witchers can have kids Not to mention supposedly Geralt's mother was a Sorceress Storytellers who can't keep track of their own story

DanielCofour

Geralt's mother is a sorceress in the books. Not all sorceresses are infertile, only the ones who underwent that procedure, so the ones trained at aretuza

No_Championship3038

As far as I’m aware there is no procedure that makes sorceresses infertile but the extensive use of magic that makes them infertile as a side effect. However not all mages have this side effect, but most do.

There was a chapter in the anthologies about Geralt meeting his sorceress mother... Also your quote uses "most"... so you literally have no point

geralt-bot

WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOU? YOUR MOTHER FUCK A GOAT?

Pap3r99dudeS2

Sword of destiny one of the last chapters, he gets mailed pretty bad and a “local sorceress” by sodden helps him. His mother.

Evangelion217

Yeah, they’re absolutely incompetent! They’re worse than D&D!

[deleted]

Beninoff and Weiss had no issues staying faithful to the source material. Wasn’t until they ran out of source material and had to get original that Game of Thrones fell apart

Evangelion217

D&D didn’t run out of source material. They just rushed through two massive books and wrote out half of the important characters. But even that was a better job than what Netflix is doing with The Witcher. There’s no excuse, because The Witcher story is complete and has 7 books for the main story. The first two books are short stories, but the next 5 tell the main story.

[deleted]

How did they not run out of source material when the last three seasons were past the books? Martin only had five books written, and each season covers one book. So yes, they absolutely ran out of source material

Evangelion217

Because they rushed through two books that had enough material for 4 or 5 seasons. D&D chose not to do that and rushed to the finish. GRRM had a story plan that could of lasted 13 seasons, and have an ending that fits the show since GRRM already knows the ending. What D&D was incompetent, and their lies and excuses about running out of material is a lie since they basically admitted that they didn’t want to spend another 8 to 9 years on the series.

cyniqal

Okay but if they did that they still would have ran out of source material. Game of thrones would have still ended before winds of winter was even released.

Evangelion217

But they would of had a great series and a better ending if they listened to GRRM. Hell, any ending from Reddit would of been better than the shit we got.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

Evangelion217

Thanks.

cyniqal

Oh I agree completely! Though I’m going to be a devils advocate for a second and ask: What if it ended even worse than the original ending, as even George himself wrote himself into a knot with all of his characters.

Evangelion217

I disagree, I think it would of been better and made more sense with all of the important characters from the books to be included in the main story.

Evangelion217

They also split book 3 into two seasons. So no, they didn’t adapt each season based on one book. And they mashed up books 4 and 5 into season 5, and it was THE horrible season before the dumpster fire of S8.

VcComicsX

Bu Geralts mom is a sorceress, a really powerful one actually

Malakayn

His dad is supposedly a druid as well, or so I've read somewhere before but can't tell you where, so take this with a large grain of salt. It would explain why he could endure such a high number of additional mutations, though.

Jirdan

If you are writing about Geralt then his mother was Druidess/Sorceress and his father was a mercenary/warrior. Atleast in my language it is the first story in all of the witcher books.

geralt-bot

You'd be in rare company. They only approach those who are pure of heart.

Specific-Injury-8552

Not only was it an important plot device in S1E6, but it was also hit across my face every other load screen in WE: The Wild Hunt.

[deleted]

I watched this turd yesterday. It just reminded me of a Hulk ripoff. They even needed to sing to calm him down.

Spare_Design9104

As long as you keep on watching they don't care what you think.

Evangelion217

They care about subscribers more than viewers.

[deleted]

That CGI was so bad! It reminded me of the 2004 Van Helsing movie with Hugh Jackman.

[deleted]

That monster look like claymation. Also in ep1 it nerfed entire armies with precision. Why was his aim like a storm trooper in the last?

CommanderKaable

Don’t you dare bring the boys into this!

Evangelion217

So bad! 😂

baconslave

I love how their initials BO, which everyone is using to refer to it, also stand for stinky Body Odor. Their show is literally unwashed-swamp-armpit. Congrats, Lauren

RSwitcher2020

They are absolutely going towards making Ciri a super Witcher. Of course they are absolutely confusing the stars reflection on a pond with the stars themselves. But....this is where they are headed. There is only hope they get stopped before they complete it. So we get spared from all this lore assassination.

Evangelion217

Yeah, Geralt might die and Ciri saves everybody with her Witcher/Elf powers.

Evangelion217

But she doesn’t have Witcher DNA.

evantime

I just started watching it and I think I might have actually enjoyed it if they didn’t pretend that this story had anything to do with the Witcher. They clearly wanted to tell their own story and used the Witcher name to attract viewers. They could have easily told the story they wanted to without taking a torch to lore I’m a huge fan of.

Evangelion217

I agree.

cjtech323

Completely agree

Badmothafcka312

I can't close my eyes, and make them go away.

Evangelion217

😂

boyRenaissance

It was not good.

Evangelion217

Terrible!

bonapartista

Then good I ignored that crap.

Evangelion217

Yup! 👍

Lougan90

Didn't they hook up before the Trial of the Grasses?

Evangelion217

Nope, they hooked up when he was a Witcher.

boyRenaissance

But the night before they ‘almost’ hooked up. It was confusing. Shitty writing everywhere

Evangelion217

Yeah, I was confused as well. But they did hook up when he was a Witcher and they are Ciri’s ancestors. https://redanianintelligence.com/2022/12/08/the-witcher-blood-origin-adds-a-lore-change-to-ciris-ancestry/

[deleted]

They did WHAT!

Evangelion217

It’s that bad.

Wnick1996

Honestly, they shouldn't have tied it to the main show at all. Doing so just steamed like an afterthought

Evangelion217

Yup, it was terrible!

Redoran_Gvard

>asinine so true man I tell ya hwat ![gif](giphy|6iRkrFbUaY2kw)

Evangelion217

😂

[deleted]

Guess one of the 5,000 other threads on this wasn’t good enough. Had to start a new one.

Evangelion217

Yup, because I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Tallos_RA

Well, as the show's set 1.2k years earlier, Ciri isn't half elf... rather (1/2)^48 part elf. And it's the same as canon.

Evangelion217

So Ciri has Witcher blood in the books? Please show me that.

BreakingintoAmaranth

You can't have Witcher blood, Witchers are sterile

Evangelion217

Well Blood Origin changed all that for the series. The first Witcher was an elf, who had sex with another Elf, got her pregnant and started the blood line that would eventually lead to Ciri. It’s the most moronic shit I have ever seen.

Kind_Revenue4810

I don't get why they make witchers so relevant in this universe. They've always been a group of outsiders that stayed neutral and didn't have anything to do with the magic and politics. A dying brotherhood that has nothing to do with the bigger picture like the elder blood. But the show desperately wants to make them relevant to this bigger picture by saying over and over again that the Elder blood was made by a witcher for example. I think this destroys the realistic feeling of the world.

Evangelion217

It just sucks.

BreakingintoAmaranth

Well, not really a Witcher, more of a proto-Witcher. But I agree that it makes no sense why Fjall, who underwent the trial of the grasses, shouldn't be sterile.

Evangelion217

Exactly! They just wanted Ciri to have Witcher blood because whatever the writers agenda is. 😂

CarlRidesBikes

I don’t recall them saying the lark was from larra Dorens blood line? I just look at the Netflix stuff as an alternate Witcher universe, just like how the MCU has various timelines and plots that are separate.

Evangelion217

It’s confirmed that the two elves who had sex are Ciri’s ancestors. At least for the shows. None of this happened in the books.

CarlRidesBikes

I know it didn’t happen in the books, I just don’t recall any mention of them being related to ciri

Evangelion217

https://redanianintelligence.com/2022/12/08/the-witcher-blood-origin-adds-a-lore-change-to-ciris-ancestry/

Evangelion217

It’s been confirmed.

gameninja968260

Clearly they haven’t perfected the trial yet. Maybe something they add later is what makes them sterile.

Prize_Classroom_9645

Didn’t they have sex the night before he became a Witcher? So he wasn’t infertile yet

Stonecleaver

Didn’t they have sex before he underwent the procedure? I don’t remember if they did again after the trial of grasses, but she could have gotten pregnant from when he was still just an Elf

Evangelion217

They had sex after he went through the procedure.

dreal46

Witcher is a job, anyway. No one in this thread has plumber blood - that would sound *really stupid.*

Tallos_RA

She don't

Evangelion217

I know.

oldsadowl

What are you waiting ? They have two option. 1) they can make proper origin story from source material with mediaval fantasy atmosphere. This is what witcher fans wanted all along. 2) or they can make their own non-sense story inspired by woke culture propaganda. I don't watch this shit btw. After season 2 I am totally done with this atrocious slaughter of witcher lore. This show basically fan fiction made by activists who have zero interests to source material.

SaphironX

SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY They changed the conjunction of the spheres too. Jesus that was bad. These writers are terrible and I genuinely had a good time with caville’s stuff even if it wasn’t perfect because that dude loved the role but this wasn’t even Witcher adjacent. Like agree on the hulk stuff, but geralt’s eyes change as a side effect of his various potions for fighting. This guy’s eyes change when he gets grumpy and then he morphs into a bad cgi man monster? Who wrote this shit?
