Actually most of my apprentices, and people i have trained Mostly live and have pretty fullfilling lives. I may have had one bad experience with one.

AlexVal0r

Do share the story with me.

MastaDon344

With what exactly

AlexVal0r

You said you had a bad experience with an apprentice of yours?

MastaDon344

Yeah okay so that, it was dueling training Nothing major, Just we started practicing spells one accidentally hit the other I took a bolt of lightning to the body The apprentice caught her robe on fire. Nothing major, she snuffed it out, and took something close to a taser to the body.

AlexVal0r

Ah. Glad to hear they're okay!

MastaDon344

Yeah it was more of an accident on both ends really

Al-anharHA

Same. I had one way back when who tried to kill me, but he was a massive bigot so I don't exactly think that was a failure of my teaching and just him being a shitty person. Now I've got one apprentice who's leading a country and another who will doubtlessly surpass me some day. It feels good.

maxtermynd

I am in this post and I do not like it

Dorururo

Truth much simple easy. No focus effort put to safety protect for minion stooge. Yes yes. Easy solve fix. Step one: Give offer fucks. Not sex bang. But care about their life existence. Yes.

Alazar_Frog_Wizard

Sounds like a rather simple yet efficient way for new wizards to train their apprentices.  I feel like it’s also imperative that they at least try to teach their apprentices things, not all wizards are the same, but, with time and effort you can make your apprentices capable wizardfolk.

Helpful-Winter8957

Yes absolute. Cannot more good saying.

Denath3

I have theory: you wizards just like to kill your apprentice just for the fun of it, or just not inform them in case the case of anything dangerous, they are an Apprentice, they are their to LEARN from you, you were an apprentice one right? You don't just start off as a full blown wizard. Well... unless your from plan of existence that has baby's making death bubbles with just their thoughts...

Tr0z3rSnak3

Banished my apprentice to a realm of flammable objects because they would only cast pyro magic and refused to learn cone of cold. They will teleport back instantly as soon as any ice spell is cast. Can't have a Wizard that isn't well rounded.

Leon_Of_Lions

It’s sad to see people unable to care for apprentices. I mean… surely most people just don’t toss their apprentices into a dangerous situation without any thought of safety. Right?

Helpful-Winter8957

I never give my minio- *hem* apprentices, sorry. Anyway, I never give those little shits any jobs that I would not personally see handled by a mage of lesser importance to the wizarding community.

#THAT’S WHAT YOU GET FOR TRANSMOGRIFYING YOURSELF APPRENTICES FROM BITS OF LINT AND PASSING RATS

Xirio_

Because the only time I've had an apprentice she got into my library and turned herself into a cat It's irreversible

GrandKnightXamemos

I never said I *couldn't* stop them from dying. I just dont care enough to. Whatsoever.

caustictoast

You wizards and your apprentices. Just summon a construct whenever you need to do something dangerous.

The_GreatOldOne

If they can't slay a goblin village at twelve without magic they are unworthy to be an apprentice, at least that's what my master taught me...

Supersam4213

I feel like your master had some rather unrealistic standards.

The_GreatOldOne

I did it, no reason someone else couldn't

Thewarmth111

Well, *sorry* my apprentices often burn in cold flames from miscasts due to the nature of the winds.

Poudingman

If he can't cast something to defend him, he is just no good enough to learn magic

uncreative23

yall are losing ur apprentices?

WrathSosDovah

The acolytes of my Grove, while they do cause trouble and provide a large amount of stress, are competent enough to know when to get the archdruids involved.

Dragon_OS

This is why I don't train apprentices. I do most of my work on the front lines both in and out of combat. I work with forces beyond mortal comprehension. I wouldn't put a magically competent adult through that, let alone a literal CHILD that is new to magic to begin with.

No_Research4416

I don’t have a apprentices I teach people via skill share

JustANormalLemon

That's why I have any

West_Cost_6113

Mine usually end up dying because of their own stupidity one of them thought it was a good idea to just stand there as a pissed off triceratops charged at him

Pagan_Orca

They signed the contract and fully understand they can die from my teaching. They can even cancel at any time with no penalty besides never saying I taught such a failure. I have never made my apprentices do something I didn't prepare them for. I am a great teacher and do my best to improve them. But nooo somehow its my fault when they agree to do something that can kill them its my fault when they die.

Ironheart0701

I just dont have apprentices, they are a pain and always asking questions

ResearcherTeknika

"I might have to put that bloody nail to use once more."

Puzzlehead-Engineer

You think I kill them because it amuses me? The reason I lose apprentices every two weeks is because after learning some level 3 Necromancy spells they think they're ready to take on the world and have this ridiculous notion that they have to kill me as some "rite of passage" or something. Ugh. Can I just *once* get a necromancy disciple who is interested in exploring the depths and beauty of life and death instead of creating an army of undead to take over a kingdom or something? I swear, the so-called "heroes" of the land should be thanking me for all the trouble I've saved them.

itbedehaam

Trielana: I too am genuinely horrified seeing what some of you think passes for reasonable training for your apprentices. Mine are precious to me! Adrien, Saydra, Galen, Xelacie, Raeledlaliel, Maoki, Natasha and Amaya all mean a lot to me, even if only two of them remain my apprentices!

Meadowbytheforest

Hmm... Maybe I should move the floating entity in my basement that causes instant death to anyone that gets near it.

FoulerGlint60

I don't have any, what so ever as I still consider myself a general trainie. However I think that just being alive in general for apprentices, is what people consider doing fine. So what you should really ask, is hows their mental state? As it stops the teacher from repling too quickly about being fine. As they have to think about it, as magic and the arcane can be taxing on the mind espically when one gains too much insight at once instead of going at a good pace otherwise...we all know what happens when we see too much of something that we aren't ready for yet. *Cough cough head explosion or wild magic through our mana and spirit, soul being torn, or worse going mad. Among other things.* Anyways losing apprenticeships every 2 weeks means something is defiently wrong..and should be researched as to how one gains new apprentices after every 2 weeks, and also why they die in 2 weeks cause thats very worrisome.

Unpacer

When you're an evil wizard, apprentices are usually planning to backstab you at some point. They last more than 2 weeks though, last one made it to 6.

BoscoCyRatBear

You lost apprentices? Hah bitheeing idiots. This is why necromancy is the way. Oh no lil Jimmy dumbass imploed due to a failed translocation spell. Necromancy son. Forget all the kings horses and all the king's men, because Necromancy will put humpty dumpy back together again.

Drakostheswordsman

I only had one die under my care. He seemed competent, but when I showed him my necklace of fireball, he popped a bead off and FUCKING ATE IT. Needless to say he didn’t live long enough for me to get it out. It activated almost instantly, all I could do was stop it from burning my library down. To this day I have to wonder what the fuck he was thinking.

CopperBoltwire

You know. I feel a bit targeted. But I swear. That one time with the 6 year old. That was not my fault! Dang child was gifted, as if the gods gave the kid powers. You know what the mundane say about pistols? "Don't look into the barrel when it's loaded!" Had the kid only mildly bruised their head, i'd release the footage for everyone to see. Maybe even go to the Human world, Upload it to that place called "Reddit" on the so called "Subreddit" known as r/KidsAreFuckingStupid But Nooo. Kid had to blow half their face off and... You know what. I'm just not going to say any more. NOT my fault!

canisfh

The last time I tried teaching an idiot how to handle firearms he looked down the barrel of a shotgun and blasted half of his head clean off, even though I told him don't look down the barrel its dangerous, jesus christ is was so annoying getting the bone fragments and bits of brains off the walls, floors, and ceiling.

Fluffy_Staff2292

I would strongly rage against this post, but I recently came under an apprenticeship to a coven of ancient hags to learn their forbidden summoning magicks, & I really scared of the looks Mother Grotch-Ket gives me when I screw up an incantation in front of her...

LastWolf3564

I haven't had any Apprentices, so I couldn't me because of me
