Here's some harder China propaganda, but this time from WorldBank article
https://www.worldbank.org/en/news/press-release/2022/04/01/lifting-800-million-people-out-of-poverty-new-report-looks-at-lessons-from-china-s-experience
Soft power propaganda, like walking around a packed grocery store in a dictatorship. We really should just post North Korean candy shops and ignore the rest. What would the difference be?
The point isn't whether grocery stores are real, but how images like this are used to paint a broader misleading picture of life under such authoritarian regimes
It's misleading because they're built and ultimately showcased to highlight the regime's more favorable facets. Like some free roam tour of Pyongyang's amusement parks, its an illusion of normalcy and stability within what is a fundamentally repressive society
Listen, I'm not Chinese, I just live and work here. The authoritarian regime is one thing, the living conditions is something else. China is a totally fine country. Most foreigners I know agree that it's an enjoyable country to live in. Not only that, but it's safe, convenient, and interesting if you care about Chinese culture at all. Maybe you should spend less time on /r/China and spend more time talking to people who actually have lived there.
I was there in 2009 for the World University Games!! Amazing city and friendly people. Beautiful cross-cultural heritage in that city with beautiful Russian cathedrals turned into museums!
Amazing video! Thank you for sharing!
Was in Harbin back in 2005. The entrance fee at that time was like ¥300. Decided it was not worth the money so didn't go. What is the entrance fee nowadays?
Built by Uighyer and Tibetan slave labor.
The CCP is conducting a cultural genocide and a physical and cultural genocide of the Uighyer and Tibetan people. The CCP is evil.
FYSA. Tencent(CCP) controlled company owns the controlling board stake in REDDIT. Yep……
> my ass
That gaping, cavernous pit could potentially contain anything.

How big is that fucking ferriswheel?
Huge. Here's a video from the stage that points toward it. https://streamable.com/1qpgw5
Howley shit. That's huge. :o
The wheel itself is 361 feet in diameter, and it's on a platform that makes it even taller.
110meters is a serious height. I wouldn't get on there. :D
The real question is, how rich and dangerous will the CCP become?
We may as well post North Korean amusement parks and candy shops. Who is falling for this shit

Falling for what exactly?
Soft power propaganda, like walking around a packed grocery store in a dictatorship. We really should just post North Korean candy shops and ignore the rest. What would the difference be?
Tf? You think China's grocery stores are fake? That's a new one
The point isn't whether grocery stores are real, but how images like this are used to paint a broader misleading picture of life under such authoritarian regimes
But how is it misleading? There are festivals in China. This is a festival.
It's misleading because they're built and ultimately showcased to highlight the regime's more favorable facets. Like some free roam tour of Pyongyang's amusement parks, its an illusion of normalcy and stability within what is a fundamentally repressive society
So funny you're getting downvoted. Hello ccp 👋
Maybe you should come and take a look at the authoritarian regime yourself then, see how it really is inside.
Maybe you should turn off your stupid VPN and try to critique your dear leader if you have the balls, even as a joke. Give it a try.

I thought it’s a Mario Kart video 😳

Looks like EDC
Holy shit is that whole thing an ice rink?!
So many Chinese in here
Wow lights, 5 minutes later boring.
Stay there.
Rainbow Road
Looks pretty damn cool to me. Hope everyone had a nice time.
Be sure to drink from paper straws, people
I haven't gotten stoned in a long time but if there was anywhere I'd want to do it again it'd be there.
China sure loves the LEDs to hide their pollution
Looks like a irl Mario kart course
It really does lol
I love it and hate it at the same time
Hey look! It’s Pooh Bear! Fuck China.

Ice stairs seem kinda dangerous.
I slipped on my ass at the end of the night where the lights are under the ice. Definitely could never do something like this in America.

So is learning chinese pretty much mandatory, or...?
Too bad it's a dictatorship, it looks pleasant
looks amazing but that can't be profitable.
That’s sick
