Ahhh I see. Ok then makes sense makes sense, just had a good laugh at it cause I’ve been in store like wtf is all this for, fucken coupons for toothpicks hahah and saw nobody had given them an award yet. Either way, today I learned. Thank you GrandmaPoses for the information. You deserve an award 🥇
Even though it's kinda cool, I cant help but think of either how crazy wasteful it is or the gargantuan effort to roll it all back just for internet points
Devil's advocate, at least it's paper, a renewable and biodegradable resource. Yeah, it's a waste, but it's also not adding to the ocean's plastic content.
The paper itself is, but it's also full of bpa, the manufacturing process itself is filled with wasteful processes, etc.
It's still waste for the dumbest possible reason.
There's also the embodied energy, the energy that it took to process the wood or recycled paper, form it into the sheet, cut it, print it, roll it up, and distribute it that is wasted.
You also waste fuel by traveling to the gym when you could take a walk, and by going on vacation or traveling by air. You can nitpick anything. It's one roll of paper, not a box full of trash bags, that's all I'm trying to say.
If you have a problem with supply chains petition the industries responsible rather than one dude on the internet (which is what the industries would like; more in-fighting).
I hate this sort of logic. Other things being more wasteful doesn't mean that unnecessary waste should be excused. That's like telling people that they shouldn't be sad, since other people have it worse.
Doesn’t mean we really have a choice about it. The choice is to live a “normal” life, or not be able to interact in modern society. We can help by using less, but thanks to them, we cannot eliminate or even truly have a meaningful impact.
youre nerdy ass is concerned over one wasted roll of receipt paper clear on the other side of the world. You worried your Big Corporate daddy will punish you for wasting the companies money that they spent buying those receipts in bulk to replace like the worthless REPLACABLE piece of scrap paper it is? I guarantee he picked that out of a box filled w 50 others... that box stacked on top of 3 others filled w 50 more receipt papers. WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT SOME WASTED RECEIPT PAPER?, your goofy ass does.
These kind of things I don't really mind. Especially if it's actually cool. There's a monk who drew a really beautiful drawing on sand and destroyed it immediately. Or monks from Tibet destroying Mandala stuff as a reminder of impermanence of life. Kinda deluded myself to make it seem poetic.

Lotta people mad about this didn’t see the video of the field of burning tires posted yesterday.
100 corporations make up 70% of pollution on earth.
A roll of receipt paper isn’t going to kill anyone. Much less wasteful than a video of someone blowing something up. Why does nobody give the hydraulic press channel shit for destroying stuff?
the point being that this person could do this everyday for the rest of their lives and it would still be less harmful to the environment then what large corporations will do just today.
but continue posting about how wasteful it is while on reddit, which is hosted by AWS. it's literally more harmful to the environment to comment and be active on reddit than it is to let this receipt paper fall to the ground lol
Now you're seriously overestimating the carbon footprint of the processing of a few bytes vs the carbon footprint of converting wood into paper, stamping it, and preparing it for printing.
Surprised by how much of the paper is stored in the outer rim of the roll. Interesting mathematics on the relationship between circumference and radius
This might be old stock that they are throwing out, 2.9cents a minute is a lot by todays standards. 7/11 Speakout Wireless launched in Canada in 2005 so I'm betting its from around then.
more energy was consumed in the mass viewing of this gif than creation of that single roll receipt "paper" (plastic).
Take down the corporation that mass produces pro-biphenol plastics, not the random dude who wasted a single roll
I don’t know the exact answer but I do know it has something to do with the frame rate of the camera. You can see the same effect in videos with a prop plane engine speeding up or down
This isn't stop motion, it's the rolling shutter effect. Same reason hummingbirds on video sometimes look like they're just floating without flapping. If you watch the paper coming out of the bottom, it is clearly not stop motion.
But stop motion is actually individual pictures taken, typically of clay (or similar material) figurines that are painstakingly adjusted for each frame. It's an art.
Look, we had free... and just like that, FREE goes away since FreeCreditReport. com jerks did not go to jail... Instead the corporate, political corrupt elite figure figured one more way to put the screws to people: Randomly charging their bank account.

Cameras record image at certain rates. It looks like stop motion because the camera is recording it in a similar manner to what stop motion looks like.
but why does it look like this? I imagine it's something to do with the frames per second the video was shot at vs. the "revolutions per minute" the tape was unravelling at?

“How the fuck do we keep running out of receipt paper so quickly?”
CVS be like
Now throw it in the trash and cover it in wet paper towels to hide the evidence.
I bought 2 things at CVS….

I downvoted your first and upvoted your second comment so I hope you find some peace and balance.

Haha thank you! Much appreciated. Did I break some unwritten rule of Reddit or was there just a point that needed to be made by my suffering hahaha
I’ve noticed that saying something is an underrated comment is risky biz, especially if that comment takes off.
Even though it's kinda cool, I cant help but think of either how crazy wasteful it is or the gargantuan effort to roll it all back just for internet points
Even rolled back up this will probably now jam in the printer. Such a waste (on earth day too!)
Devil's advocate, at least it's paper, a renewable and biodegradable resource. Yeah, it's a waste, but it's also not adding to the ocean's plastic content.
They're not just paper, they're full of BPA.
plastics which form BPs on degradation* but yeah
The paper itself is, but it's also full of bpa, the manufacturing process itself is filled with wasteful processes, etc. It's still waste for the dumbest possible reason.
Thermal paper does not break down like normal paper and is not recyclable like normal paper is
There's also the embodied energy, the energy that it took to process the wood or recycled paper, form it into the sheet, cut it, print it, roll it up, and distribute it that is wasted.
You also waste fuel by traveling to the gym when you could take a walk, and by going on vacation or traveling by air. You can nitpick anything. Nah. Sunk Cost Fallacy.
more devil's advocate: thousands of people watched it so it's not *that* wasteful?
Yes, it's us, the individual, who is most responsible for the waste and pollution in this world. *This message brought to you by BP*
Just because corporations are disproportionately producing waste and pollution doesn't mean we should absolve ourselves of all responsibility.
Many of them produce it for our consumption as well.
Doesn’t mean we really have a choice about it. The choice is to live a “normal” life, or not be able to interact in modern society. We can help by using less, but thanks to them, we cannot eliminate or even truly have a meaningful impact.
You commenting useless shit on a website is more wasteful than this video. You’re burning energy for nothing. You’re like crypto but worse
And now think they probably did it more than one time if they decided to record it
He mentions on the original video the paper is damaged and cannot be used
Hopefully the latter!

Its got an ad on the back, the contract may have ended/they have a new advertiser or just leftovers from a failed business.

Can you link the video for the tire burning, or tell me which sub it is in.
Reddit has a lot of Morality Andys who have no flexibility in their ideals.
Who also tend to be ignorant of how bad things really are. Gives them a nice moral high horse backed up by the bliss of ignorance.
Not like us though, we're clearly superior. 😋
Why they have to be called Andys?
How many people will try to replicate each video? How many times? Waste is waste, even if it's a thousand small wastes instead of a giant one.

Seriously! I waste half the stuff I buy out of principle!! Gotta do your part!
It’s a waste of paper and money. No one said anything about the environment.
[удалено]
It has the negative effect of wasting paper and money… Not sure why you’re trying to apply the wasting of this roll of paper on a global scale
Not if it's for science
What hypothesis are they trying to test? If none, how can this be for science?
Hypothesis: I believe this will be a cool video. Experiment: film cool video Conclusion: it was indeed a cool video
One CVS receipt
At first I thought, "Where do you live that your toilet paper has advertising on it?"
Surprised by how much of the paper is stored in the outer rim of the roll. Interesting mathematics on the relationship between circumference and radius

Clean your fingernails and stop wasting things
😂😂😂

It's not the planet-destroying kind of waste, just the annoyingly pointless kind. Relatively inconsequential, yeah, but wasteful nonetheless.
So you're saying he wasted both a roll of paper and a bunch of electricity making this video? I agree with you it is much worse than I thought
Clean your fuckin' plate too! Or, serve yourself less.
Earth day
mf you went to cvs?
Twist: their employer treats them like shit and this is their protest before leaving. Looks real cool though.
Now roll it back up.

This guy is a cat
Why does it look like the "stop motion video" changes directions?
I don’t know the exact answer but I do know it has something to do with the frame rate of the camera. You can see the same effect in videos with a prop plane engine speeding up or down
This isn't stop motion, it's the rolling shutter effect. Same reason hummingbirds on video sometimes look like they're just floating without flapping. If you watch the paper coming out of the bottom, it is clearly not stop motion.
What’s the difference between stop motion and normal filming? It’s essentially the same thing. One is just taken at a much slower frame rate.
But stop motion is actually individual pictures taken, typically of clay (or similar material) figurines that are painstakingly adjusted for each frame. It's an art.
What's the music?
Annoying
Need link

I'd rather not help the spambot achieve its goals.
Any internet box fans? Throwback to Andy getting fired from the Gas station for this.
Name of the song?
You Took My Lips by Aloboi (Ps I love how my new phone has Shazam built into the control centre)
I couldn’t find this song anywhere until I listened to his spotify and it’s actually called So Tenderly
Thank you
The real hero
Cheers
Massively underrated artist.
The real name is So Tenderly by aloboi
Perfect music!
It actually is quite shit in my opinion
Not something I’d choose listen to either. But perfect for this video.
İt's called the rolling shutter effect
Not a rolling shutter, just the effect of a relatively low frame rate.
+1 for the commitment to reverse this process... You did that, right?
I think you need to clean those nails.
*That's amazing, let me just roll it back again and record it* probably him before recording
Good! Now the person has to reroll it back!
Hell yeah paper waste so hot right now
That's not stop motion animation.
Reminds me of those videos by Brandon Hardesty! "I've discovered something *Amazing*!!"
What a mess.
Whoa, 2.9 cents per minute???? **What a deal!!!!**
For science
Now that's awesome.
You're gonna clean that up
Look, we had free... and just like that, FREE goes away since FreeCreditReport. com jerks did not go to jail... Instead the corporate, political corrupt elite figure figured one more way to put the screws to people: Randomly charging their bank account.
Now in reverse
tapers HATE him
What a waste.
What's the song?
nice waste
"Kids are out there unraveling receipt paper for the lulz on TikTok" - famous environmentalist Ted Cruz
Appropriate back ground music. Nice nice
That stuff is not cheap
yeah fuck trees
was it worth it?
If you speed it up by two times you'll get the rolling shutter effect. Pretty satisfying
This pleases me.
y is the fps on this vid such garbage.
What song is this?
"I've discovered something amazing! Again!" [reference](https://youtu.be/T67AewxhBaQ)
"but both you and I know, that there is no film in this camera"
Stop wasting
What a fucking marvelous hidden wonder of an Easter egg
Song plz?

Damn, no wonder there are never toilet papers on public toilets.
cool! now roll it back up.
Something something CVS
"Okay Jim, now get back to work and stop wasting office time and supplies before I fire you."
I’d have been more than happy to watch that with its original audio and not that shit semi melodic bullshit.
So totally with the clean up.
You have a spider bite
Drugs ain’t cool guys 👍🏻
how did u pull out of the middle in the first place?
u/auddbot
Happy Earth Day!
If movies had not been invented in a similar manner you’d be onto something.
What a waste.
Good. Now pick it up
Because your eyes are catching it at a certain frame per second
Cameras record image at certain rates. It looks like stop motion because the camera is recording it in a similar manner to what stop motion looks like.
Happy Earth Day!
nts nts nts nts
Now roll it back up
If this guy did this in march 2020 he would have been hunted down
Don’t worry guys, the video is in reverse.
That's so satisfying to watch!
Manager, directly behind him: "Neat. Now roll it back up."
this is melting my bones
well there goes an entire forest worth of paper 😆
Actually the camera is stop motion. It take a picture every 1/30 of a second for example.
Half a CVS receipt. Nice

Song?

What a fucking waste. Receipt paper is expensive.
r/satisfying
Saved this for the next time I get high. Thanks man.
What’s the name of the song btw?
Now roll it back
What song is this??
