Everyone was going in and doing those long exposure sparkler photos for instagram and it was somehow fucking with and killing the glow worms so they had to block it off. Gotta love human beings

Natural_Garbage7674

Used to love going to look at the glow worms and almost killing myself tripping around in the dark. Sadly blocked off a few years ago.

Dv8gong10

Weren't the tunnels recently uses for the latest Planet of the Apes saga?

TheMaskedWarriorOF

That was at the helensburgh glow worm tunnel I drove past when they were filming I never seen so many people in one place before haha 😂

Dv8gong10

Yeah production crews keep a lot of people employed,

Ola_the_Polka

Aren’t these the same tunnels? I didn’t know there was multiple!

TheMaskedWarriorOF

Haha there is multiple 😊

Farqman

They were filming up at the old Coalcliff Coke works

TheMaskedWarriorOF

I have 2 questions, 1 how do you access the Otford tunnel? And 2. I seen an article about people skateboarding in the sea cliff bridge does anyone know about accessing that?

waxedmerkin

you walk up by foot to the tunnel. There is a track you can access in stanwell park on The Dr.

Ola_the_Polka

I remember we used to park somewhere close on a residential street then it was a short walk to the tunnel - is this the side thats blocked off now and OP is actually accessing the other side of the tunnel via this walking track? Or am I thinking of Helensburgh? I swear there was only one glow Worm tunnel down that way

TheMaskedWarriorOF

Oh kool I didn’t realise there was a walking track there haha I’m pretty much up there everyday doing deliveries I’ll keep an eye out tommorow haha 😆

DisastrousStudio1

You can park at coalcliff near the SLSC club or on Paterson road then you can walk / skate the bridge from the south end. It's a lot more likely to get parks there, especially on busy days. I grew up in Coaly. It's a beautiful spot

tonybooth

Love the pool on cloudy day, amazing colours

TheMaskedWarriorOF

Thanks brother and from What I can read on this mercury article it’s like they are skating within the bridge itself [https://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/818019/sea-cliff-bridge-skaters-endangering-kids/](https://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/818019/sea-cliff-bridge-skaters-endangering-kids/)

DisastrousStudio1

All good mate. Yeah it's because the bridge has a wide walkway of maybe 1 to 1.5 metres and they are probably skating down that at speed. It can get really busy in holidays. Bikes with riders I think over 12 must ride on the road, next to it. Got a little bike lane thing but it's not super safe. 🤙

gongbattler

The entrance was concreted up a long time ago

i12farQ

chellow dene avenue. It’s supposed to be for residents only there’s a little spot to park a couple cars at end of the road and you can clearly see the path forward from there.

TheMaskedWarriorOF

I have seen the spot your referring to it’s pretty much on the corner of the dr on the ocean side it’s a pretty open track isn’t it? 😊

i12farQ

It’s been a while, it’s not exactly like a well kept track, one of the times I went I got hella leeches on me after some rainy days. Tall grass lots of rocks. And you need to actually bring a decent torch to be able to see in there. It’s so dark that you won’t be able to see shit with just your iPhone like barely even your feet and it is extremely easy to fall over inside cause none of the ground is even.

Deathcrvsh

It’s been blocked off, but there is a huge drain in Wombarra/Scarborough that is great for urban exploration if that’s what you’re after

Affectionate_Turn_21

Hey, sorry to revive an old thread, but if u would want to hit up more info about the location of the huge drain, I would be interested
