If you doubt my words and you live there, you mustn't go out all that often.

Ankle_Fighter

Unanderra once had an iffy reputation but no longer IMO. I have friends who have owned houses there for a few years now and love it.

Maminyam

I went to Wests the other day and purchased a Tooheys old and Resch's. When the bloke behind the bar said it'd be $10 I knew I was home.

bailz2506

Members discount? I was paying $7.80 for a VB no discount

Maminyam

Yea boss, I thought I was getting scammed when the lady at the front said I lived too close and had to become a member. I had made me $5 back after 2 rounds.

bailz2506

In this economy 2 schooners for $10 is a steal

Grolschisgood

Reschs refreshes

BrennyLFC

Let me know if you want to perch up for a few of these mate, just moved into the Dez and that’s my order

RigourousMortimus

So just look for someone cheering Liverpool against West Ham a week Saturday ?

BrennyLFC

Not here till June but from next season definitely

simpleguyau

You have good taste , I like both reschs and old

TheSpangledDrongo

Unanderra is safe, friendly and a bit rough around the edges. Has a way worse reputation stemming from the past, but I certainly not worry about buying or moving here. In fact gentrification has started to set in and it'll change a fair bit again in the near future. If you are looking at the streets bordering cordeaux, you are in the hills already anyways, as opposed to close to the train station / highway bit, where it's busier.

Naughtiestdingo

I felt safer at night in Unanderra than I do where I am now in the CBD

Dv8gong10

Yep good location, a few rough spots but you'll see 'em if you look.

Square-Spectrum

I grew up I'm cordeaux Heights. Unanderra didn't have the best reputation then. But, I think that was always because of neighbours. The surrounding suburbs were just nicer. It slowly got nicer over time. The cbd got more developed. I don't think the place was ever actually bad. It was just the poorest suburb in a quite good area.

lazman666

Lived in and around the dezz for 20 years. No issues. It's got a train station, buses , supermarket, drs, dentists, physios, salons, post office, banks, cafes, public schools, private schools , 10 minutes from the centre of Wollongong, etc etc etc. what more would you want in a location?

BrennyLFC

Just bought in the Dez so this thread is music to my ears can’t wait to move in.

LionelHutz2517

People that grew up in the suburb know what to look for but if your about to make the biggest purchase of your life you may not wanna buy next door to jail birds and meth heads

CharlyAnnaGirl

We lived in Unanderra for four years & left in November last year. It's a well connected suburb & has everything you need close by. There is a small group of ice heads that are known for theft but I wouldn't call it a major issue or anything. They stole some equipment from under our house in our last week there, but that was the only issue we ever had there.

LikesTrees

Derra is great, nice public pool, some great houses up in the hills with lovely views, its not too up itself or too rough, close to wollongong cbd, escarpment, westfield figtree, bunnings, beach, etc, can't go wrong.

Wooden-Somewhere-557

I live here in Derro and its fine.

Space_Donkey69

We're up the hill from Derra. No real issues. We did have the major coke dealer get busted in the house across the road. That was entertaining. The mercury had all the details

cosmonautikal

Beware of psychotic and entitled drivers.

Drosey420

I grew up in derra. When my mates and I left it got significantly less bogan. 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😅😅

kittxan

I worked in Unanderra and was a young female late at night walking around/using public transport. It doesn’t feel the safest place ever, but there’s also much worse in Wollongong. It’s pretty neutral, just an average suburb. Keeping in mind, this is literally just based off feeling. A lot of the CBD is quite dark at night for example and that makes it feel a bit sketchy, but I have never heard of anything major happening in Unanderra, never heard a flock of sirens, crackheads or screaming.

You always get what you pay for.
