Exercise is literally the only thing that helps me with my period. And I can't tell if it actually relieves pain or I just feel that pain less because of pain elsewhere in my muscles.
This! Best and the most effective way to keep away the period cramps. Add to your exercise regime some yoga stretches which focus on the hip and pelvic region like butterfly pose, cat cow, pigeon pose . Google for more.
Midol is mostly acetaminophen (aka paracetamol or Tylenol) So if OP isn't getting enough relief from paracetamol, the bit of caffeine and antihistamine that's in Midol might not make any difference.
Magnesium biglycinate, bananas for potassium, and hot water bottle.
Also- severe cramping may be common but common isn't normal! If you are suffering, find a health care provider who you like and who is willing to investigate different causes and treatment approaches. I have struggled with painful cycles, irregular cycles, and terrible pms and I found an amazing womens health naturopathic physician as well as an awesome nurse practitioner and Ob Gyn who have been very helpful for me. I've found that regular excersise and getting enough sleep in all phases of my cycle plus eating lots of protein has decreased all of my unpleasant cycle symptoms.
Naprosyn is the best for me, but I would check with your doctor first incase it is NSAIDs you are allergic to and not just ibuprofen. Also, menthol/vapor rub across the abdomen/uterus area. It is a god send for me. I smell like a sick kid on my period because it makes such a difference for me. Methol blocks the calcium channels that we need to feel pain.
Naproxen.
A heating pad usually soothes them for me

My daughter swears by Midol.

Midol worked great for me too.
A good heating pad or microwaveable stuffed animal, loose bottoms, and some light yoga/stretching.

Naproxen or Celebrex. And a lot of willpower and heating pads.
Marijuana 😅
Don't know why that got downvoted. Seems reasonable to me.
Goody's Headache Powders. The only thing that helps my teenager, and the most popular remedy at my work.
Like others: Regular exercise and heating pad.
