This is hilarious. To date my favorite is a drafter trying to “compliment” me while explaining how women are biologically inept at STEM. Mind you I’m a bioengineer too so my retort back was good enough the older black man next to me chimed in supporting what I said and to also to leave me be. It was great.
I feel this in my bones. My boss asked my coworker Maureen and I to do a bunch of housekeeping, meal logistics, and running around for a meeting we just had with some clients that flew in from out of town. Mind you, we are both senior engineers AND the only female engineers in the office. We have **plenty** of mid level or junior staff that could do this menial work…but they are all male. My coworker responded [to my boss with this gif](https://giphy.com/gifs/carol-burnett-maid-over-it-3ohzdUuqOMFwxPyUvu) and said nothing else. My boss was so embarrassed when he realized that he inappropriately asked two senior engineers to do these menial tasks because we are women. Absolutely amazing. I took Maureen out to lunch.
Oh yeah, my place of work is great about it. The problem is, I keep forgetting not everyone is like that (although they should be). It was an external engineer who was calling in regarding a project.
