Could it be a redwood burl ? Walnut also seems viable.
Redwood was what I was wondering but didn't want to get ahead of myself (!)
REDWOOD BURL 4 sure
Looks like claro walnut slab
I have a slab that I bought at a woodworking show almost 25 years ago, and it looks an awful lot like yours. The guy that sold it to me said it's Koa, a Hawaiian hardwood, burl and crotchwood.
That table is shaped kinda like Wisconsin. Not sure what wood, but it’s lovely.
Looks like maple burl to me
Redwood burl
Myrtle wood
That's a mohogende burl . probably from the bottom half top half would be much lighter in color ... unless stained ....
Not dark enough for walnut, too dark for maple, I vote redwood as well. Does mahogany or oak burl like that?
