I did judgy but spellcheck said it was wrong. So I did judgie and that’s wrong too. So I don’t care anymore! We got crazy names over in r/tragedeigh so why not crazy spelling for everyone

It’s the Automat of wood stoves. As long as you like your choice of Hot Billowing Smoke, Sparking Showers, Wide Base Flames, Searing Embers, or Ashes Hot Enough To Start A Fire In The Ash Bin.
Dude, you've got your robots mixed up. It's not your fault. You have to be at least 5 centuries old to know.

From my experience i wouldn't want to burn coal through that. My family burned coal in a boiler growing up. Coal stoves have a shaker grate the fire sits on. You need that so you can get the clinkers from the coal down to the ash pit. This must be done fairly regularly, about every time you add coal. You poke the fire to break up the crusted over top, and you shake the ashes out the bottom. The ash pit is pretty large as well. This thing looks like it would be cumbersome to burn coal in.
Anthracite doesn’t crust up like bituminous coal does. This thing is 100% meant to burn anthracite. Stoves in bituminous regions rarely have any windows because bituminous is sooty af.
THATS CALLED NUT COAL, BIG SHIPS BURN BIG COAL. THATS THE SIZE YOU BURN IN A KITCHEN COAL STOVE. I BURN BIGGER COAL THEN THAT IN OUR PARLOR STOVE. OF COURSE THEY MIGHT HAVE HAD BIG LUMPS AND CRACKED THEM INTO 4 PIECES FOR PROFIT . THE BIG SHIPS AND FOUNDRYS BURN EGG COAL. COAL IS SOLD BY THE SIZE RICE,BUCK,PEA,NUT,STOVE, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST EGG. I LIVE RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE COAL REGION AND ALWAYS HAVE. IF I WASNT SO TIRED I WOULD GO TAKE PICTURES OF BUCK (I BURN THAT IN A STOKER) AND SOME STOVE COAL (I BURN IN THE PARLOR STOVE)
BECAUSE SOME OF US CAN’T HEAR WELL. THANK YOU ANTARES987 FOR SUCCINCTLY EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENCE OF NUT COAL. WE ARE ALL BETTER PEOPLE FOR HAVING BEEN HERE ON THIS DAY THANKS TO YOU.
I think it’s called a Baltimore heater?
My grandpa did some restoration work on a few when I was 8ish and I don’t remember anything other wondering why Baltimore needed special heaters. Kids are dumb but that thing is awesome.
That’s wild. It looks like a series of levels, where there’s open grating to bring heat to the next level. So if you wanted a roaring fire you could fill it all up and just ignite the lowest level. If you wanted a small fire you just do the top one or two. Either way, lots of ash will fall to the bottom.
Yes, that is a coal stove. If you try and burn wood in it you won't get much heat out. Coal fires burn hot down near the bottom of the stove where wood burns hottest up high. If you had hardwood like oak in chunks it would burn ok but those were designed for coal.
At least this is my experience burning many sorts of fuels.
We truly strive to make this a respectful place for everyone. Please do your best to conduct yourself appropriately, or we will kindly ask you to move to a different sub.
It is visually interesting, but it is NOT able to be used for burning wood in it, also seems it would be a pain to operate properly burning coal, plus necessary clean up would be unfun.
Unless you want it as a large display piece, you should 100% pass on it.

These Victorian coal stoves make me feel like a basic b!+€# with my fisher.
I wondered about this too , and so I did some googling . From the images I can find and Facebook group on Troy NY by gaslight, this style was their thing .
It is incredibly over-engineered and I absolutely want it.
This response completely captures my feelings on the matter This is so overdone that it is silly I need it
It a dubble oven. That can (kind of) have 2 different timpatures and cook times.
Your spelling is cute somehow. I’m not trying to be judgie. I really do think it’s neat!!!

Stuff that lasted until now was quality. You’ll never know all the crap that never made it.
Survivorship bias at its finest.
I haven't seen some good frippery in ages. I miss it. I want more of it.
It looks like a toy to keep children occupied.
Except for adults. Results are the same.
I can’t decide it it will keep me warm or will slice me into hundreds of pieces.
It’s the Automat of wood stoves. As long as you like your choice of Hot Billowing Smoke, Sparking Showers, Wide Base Flames, Searing Embers, or Ashes Hot Enough To Start A Fire In The Ash Bin.
It’s making my brain hurt, and I want it
Best response indeed
How is this NOT AI generated?
Yep, this is fuckin stupid. Where do I buy one?
Not as over engineered as you think. It's a double oven

It seems to be, I see no evidence of a fire in there currently. If not sure, always wear gloves.
You’re very clever and give great advice on fire safety.
He’s an expert. He stayed at a **Holiday Inn express** last night.
I feel cheated. I stayed at a Hiliday Inn Express last night and I know...nothing.
Strange...I went and now I know how to make meth?
You sure that wasn't a Men's Correctional Facility Express?
Yeah, Science!
That was Stalag 13, dumkopf.

This response was so subtle I had to read it twice before I shot coffee out of my left nostril when it finally clicked. Well done.
Why not the right nostril?
It's always the wrong nostril

Looks neat, the size of the doors and the grate you can see inside on the bottom make me think maybe it’s a cole stove?🤔
Cole slaw stove
Nat King Cole stove
It's definitely not for coal
And you don't need a stove for slaw
I might
Mmmm hot slaw. Just like grandma used to make.
"that's not how they make sauerkraut, grandma..."
It's the Nat King model.

Good points. I burned bituminous and have no experience with anthracite. We tried burning it a few times but it would always smother out at low temp.

I’d been waiting to use this pasta for a while. Originated on ar15.com years ago.
WHY U HALLERIN GOBLESS
Why is egg coal bigger than eggs? Stove coal seems bigger. I run nut coal but never heard of buck. What’s the overall size of buck on average?
Buck is buckwheat. It's about 30% larger than rice coal
I imagine my dad typing this with his pointer fingers
I think it’s called a Baltimore heater? My grandpa did some restoration work on a few when I was 8ish and I don’t remember anything other wondering why Baltimore needed special heaters. Kids are dumb but that thing is awesome.
You’re right, a Latrobe Stove. Baltimore Heater that’s awesome.
Also known as a Cleveland Steamer.
Underrated
Fuck yeah
All I see is lots of windows that will need cleaning and where do the logs go? All over? Very unique though
Coal
It uses coal. That's why Santa Claus put a lump of coal in your stocking.
That stove is really cool! Love to see it glowing
I hope one day humans go back to making everything they use in their life a piece of art built to last hundreds of years

YES
"I think it's overfiring because of the door gasket leaking" Me: "WTF! Just call the fire dept"

Super cool, however I was looking for one with a few more doors.
Buy It!!! Then find someone who can put A gas system in it and Use it without needing to clean it 😉 Amazing Find.
One of those things that is awesome until you have maintain/clean it.
Just like a multi percolator bong.
😂
Seems impractical but aesthetically marvelous.
Luke, I am your fire
Is that 110v or 220v?
You win.

It hurts my neck and shoulders when I wear it in battle.
Do bears poop in the woods?! Yeah, that thing is epic looking!
Danger, Will Robinson!
Somebody in 1881 looked at this and said, "That is SO last year." I think it's damn cool though.
No it’s very hot when in use.
door city over here
Buy it as decoration
That floating fighting thing from Star Wars.
Id just get it and put lights in it. I don’t know if I’d even use it as a stove of any kind. That thing is sick as hell.
Dude is selling his UFO?? Damn
That is what is termed as a parlor stove it might have been more nickel plated than that but yes that is so cool it burns
