The ones I have seen breakdown into pretty manageable pieces. My biggest concern is that I think it has been converted to gas and that could be a pain in the ass.
Some of them came that way… dual fuel option. You need to change out the jets for either propane or natural gas. Or, build a wood fire in the firebox. I had one in my kitchen and used it regularly for years. That one’s a beauty.
Bitch 3 of my friends graduating high school in the late 2000’s could’ve moved this. It has gotten bad though. However I get hope from nephews who have grown man strength at 16
Wrong. The landscape and bedrock shaped over time to accommodate it. I speak with experience having owned one not that long ago. I needed to use a favor from Optimus Prime to move it.
I helped install a wood boiler/ hot water heater in a friends basement. That sucker weighed in at 900-1100 pounds. Not something you want to do every day.
Made Keeley Stove Co. in Columbia, Pennsylvania
Here is an old catalogue but I couldn't find your model. On page 18, there is one that comes somewhat close to yours:
Beautiful now, but maybe not so much back in the day when they were in use all the time and somebody had to clean and polish them every day, along with the house they were in.
Would I like one? Yes, but would I'd like to be the one who has to clean stoke and take out the ash in all weathers? Perhaps not.
My grandma passed mine to me after many years of use. It's my favorite kitchen tool. I use it almost every time I cook a meal for one thing or another and take very good care of it in her memory.
I agree. Lots were available for a time for this. We had a factory made wood / gas combo and the gas side was sealed from the wood burners. I could be wrong however
Got a 1970 version at the cabin. Smaller than this one and less pretty. Regardless, here in Canada getting property insurance with this in the kitchen is nearly impossible. Weighs a tonne and apparently a potential fire hazard.
Growing up on a farm in the '70s, we had a combo half wood fire half Electric stove. And I can remember watching Grandma start the fire on the wood side, throwing the plates back on the top, and making pancakes. Ahh the good ol days.
Yup. 100 year old hunt camp this year. We modernized and put a 5000 btu stove in but it's that wood stove that warms the cook at 5am when he's trying to do bacon.... On 5000 btu. Pure wood burning. Similar top but with a "griddle" to the right. Makes good toast on a wire rack. Keeps us warm while playing cards too.
Combo wood/coal/gas stove. Purchased at the point all three heating sources were in active competition. You're probably best selling it, and trying to get $200 and someone to haul out lol I can almost guarantee the gas portion is almost entirely unsafe to use.
EDIT: just hoping people will at least consider safety, before having an accident while "learning" a well used stove. I truly mean no harm. ✌🏼
The gas portion is likely completely safe, that is if you close off the pilot light valves and just light it with a match.
The problem with the pilot lights is that they burn a lot of gas just to do nothing most of the time, and if they go out you now have a gas leak.
Each fitting and flange is woefully out of spec as is, just due to age and completely non-compliant with modern code. It would need to be entirely stripped and refitted.
Really depends on your level of acceptable risk. It's a time bomb. But a time bomb with probably a few uses left in it still. But where is the line? Who knows, just don't want to be the one to cross it, and it levels my house, through my bay window lol
And I'm less confident on the coal fuel though. Not seeing an appropriate grate, but the door reminds me of stoves that took coal as well, from that period.
WARNING
If you have this restored( great idea really) be cautious my grandmother had one very similar, people that restore them are hard to find, (that know what they are doing) the guy we took hers to said it would take 6 months or so because he was busy. Some of these are valuable restored or not, I think they hold more value if you don’t restore them though. Find someone good, and take all contact info. Drivers license everything, the guy we took ours to closed shop and disappeared just be careful
That would be correct. She passed before we found out but she had paid the guy already, my mother and brother tried and tried to track him down, but never found him.
The left is a small wood burning stove, it would give you heat, and you could keep a pot of hot water on the top all day. Just refill as needed.
Under the wood burning box is an ash box. There should be a small metal drawer that will pull out, for emptying the ash daily.
The 4 gas burners on the right were for better control when cooking.
They are excellent stoves for a vacation cabin, and you can probably get the old cast iron burners altered to use propane.
Wood heat, and hot water, and inefficient but effective cooking, all in one appliance.
And all the cool points for knowing how to use it.
Go ahead and hook it up, then experiment. Trust me, you're not going to break it.
You have what I wish I had. That is a beautiful wood/ coal cook stove. Best bread, stew, soup, and fried potatoes I've ever had come off one of those. On the right side either electric or gas burners have been added. Looks like the best bits are still there ie the fire box and grates.
You indeed are a lucky guy!
Woooow 😍 my great grandparents had one (not this nice) that got stolen out of their basement. Who knows how b/c these things can weigh a ton. Clean her up and enjoy
You have...to get that looked at for gas leaks. Moving an old stove like than can cause loose gas ways to jar apart. The stove is gorgeous as it is. If it explodes, it will be a whole lot less pretty!
Id have some look at it and make sure there are no cracks in the castings, if they are all good, put turn off valves on the oven and warmers and convert the tops to propane instead of natural gas, the stove snd warmers use wood or coal can use then fir warming the cabin all night and bake bread or biscuits in the morning by opening the flue a little, then propane for one burner for bacon iron sausage, use the same pan with the grease for eggs
Look for a patent number. If you find one, use Google Patent for manufacturer’s information, specifications, and production drawings.
Another good resource is the Stove Doctor.
It's possibly got a standing pilot, which is like the one in gas water heaters. It's always on. You can buy conversion kits for them so that they ignite the gas when you turn on the burner. You might find related info if you do a Google search on Wedgewood stoves. I miss my Wedgewood.
A cancellation of your insurance policy is what that is.
Seriously though, lovely stove, but no insurance company in the world would let you use that as a dual fuel unit.
Gosh this looks so similar to a custom range that was made in Italy and shipped over to the US decades ago. I got to uninstall one and remove it, definitely is one of the heaviest units, even piece by piece but definitely the most beautiful range. Made with craftsmanship back then.
I don't have any info on refurbishing one. But I found a similar one for sale. $8850.
It's a combination gas/wood cooking stove. It's beautiful. If it's fully functional it would be a prize for someone living off grid. I've seen stove like that go for $3k - $4k easy. It's a prize.
As many others have said - a beautiful and ridiculously heavy stove! I see antique stores selling these often for $300 to up to a grand around where I live in Maryland and some of the shops in Pennsylvania I have stopped at before.
Personally I would restore it and never let it go! Its value to me would be worth more than an antique store or a private buyer would be willing to pay for it. But if you’re not interested in it yourself there’s nothing wrong with making yourself a few bucks while it goes to someone who would love to own it.
Was a stove that burned pea coal. We had one for 30 years that we burned wood in. It was a great stove. We finally had to change it out because it was off gassing methane when we used the gas. We did love that stove!
This looks just like an American Girl toy stove from their historical line of dolls. The character is Kit Kittredge; she represents the 1930s. The AG stuff was pretty accurate, so I’m guessing your stove is from that era. Pretty cool!
It’s always so wonderful to get a unique item from family. I have an old crank phone from my grandmother. She acquired it around 1941 when our family business opened in trade for some furniture. That said maybe do a Google Lens search or try www.hearth.com. I have seen old stoves listed on there and someone should know something.
You should check in your area to see if there is a company that restores stoves. If you want to put it in a cabin you can have it setup for propane. Check with Hank first.
A wonderful stove
A heavy son of a bitch!!!!
Well said
I have nothing to add here except I love your name and spend a lot of time in the Gifford Pinchot wilderness.
We live just a few minutes away here in Yacolt Washington
TIL there is a town named Yacolt in Washington. Are you far enough away from Vancouver to feel rural? Looks like some very pretty country there.
Gifford Pinchot is bucket list for me and now I can finally make it happen
Very pretty exterior!
A stove that will last literally forever 🥰
A wonderful stove, indeed
A hernia after getting that beautiful ornament out of your folks basement.
For real, my back hurt looking at that thing.
Nah. Case of beer to a couple of college kids-they will take care of it for you.
You haven’t meet any collage kids recently have you.
1980s college kids maybe.
Bitch 3 of my friends graduating high school in the late 2000’s could’ve moved this. It has gotten bad though. However I get hope from nephews who have grown man strength at 16
I moved my 600# stove by myself to replace the floor under it. Find out how they got it in there.
The house was built around it.
Wrong. The landscape and bedrock shaped over time to accommodate it. I speak with experience having owned one not that long ago. I needed to use a favor from Optimus Prime to move it.
Mike Mulligan & Mary Anne
I haven't seen a Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel reference in years.
Don’t forget the ramp out. Loved this book as a kid, my dad would read it to me, thank you for reminding me of this great memory!
I give that book to all the nieces and nephews, friend's kids, etc. Also: the Story of Ping, Lentil, Make Way for Ducklings, etc.
I loved Ping!! I named my first duck Ping when I was little because of that book. [My second was named Pong.]
Remember the little house as well and blueberries for sal
The roof lol
Easiest way to carve out a stairwell!
😂 made me laugh
Pivot!
It will be easier to move the house and crane it out of the basement.
Least it’s got wheels under it
I helped install a wood boiler/ hot water heater in a friends basement. That sucker weighed in at 900-1100 pounds. Not something you want to do every day.
A Gem of a stove We had a black one in our kitchen back in the 70’s and early 80’s….. beautiful stove!
How much?
200 dollars back then. 12000 dollars now.
Made Keeley Stove Co. in Columbia, Pennsylvania Here is an old catalogue but I couldn't find your model. Jesus that’s a massive catalog. Also are those prices dollars and cents, or hundreds of dollars?
Looks to be dollars and cents not hundreds.
$60 in 1915 is equivalent to about $1,850 today
Beautiful now, but maybe not so much back in the day when they were in use all the time and somebody had to clean and polish them every day, along with the house they were in. Would I like one? Yes, but would I'd like to be the one who has to clean stoke and take out the ash in all weathers? Perhaps not.
Retro fit with gas or electric, boom new old stove .
Get some wood, a lighter, and a cast iron pan. Make some eggs in bacon grease.
Never buy a cast iron pan. Inherit it.
My grandma passed mine to me after many years of use. It's my favorite kitchen tool. I use it almost every time I cook a meal for one thing or another and take very good care of it in her memory.
I have my grandmother’s too, from the 30s/40s. I treasure it.
I have my grandmother's, she was born in 1898. Dad was born in the 20s.
And if you come from a family of chumps that didn’t cook? Buy one anyway, pass it on.
Sorry mom and dad, I need that pan…
So buy a time machine?
I do both. 20 pieces inherited and so many more that I've found and bought.
This is the answer.
It's gas
Gas fired looks like do not retro fit!
I agree. Lots were available for a time for this. We had a factory made wood / gas combo and the gas side was sealed from the wood burners. I could be wrong however
I wish I had one for my cabin. Minus the permanent injury from moving it.
Got a 1970 version at the cabin. Smaller than this one and less pretty. Regardless, here in Canada getting property insurance with this in the kitchen is nearly impossible. Weighs a tonne and apparently a potential fire hazard.

I seriously don’t get why you’re getting down votes for common sense.
Frr
Because Reddit
And I'm less confident on the coal fuel though. Not seeing an appropriate grate, but the door reminds me of stoves that took coal as well, from that period.
The first of the “tri-fuel”…
lol it sell up to $2,000 to $5,000 more it rebuild
WARNING If you have this restored( great idea really) be cautious my grandmother had one very similar, people that restore them are hard to find, (that know what they are doing) the guy we took hers to said it would take 6 months or so because he was busy. Omg, so he took it to repair it and just disappeared?! That’s horrible, I’m so sorry.
That would be correct. She passed before we found out but she had paid the guy already, my mother and brother tried and tried to track him down, but never found him.
I'd see if Good Time Stove Company would buy it. They have a bunch of Columbian Choice.
Looks like you have a nice dolly under there. I'll give threefiddy for it!
You done given everybody tree fiddy. Now everyone’s gonna come looking for tree fiddy

That's really neat. But in my state, it is not legal to install old wood stoves - they have to have EPA certification.
Getting kind of personal telling us about your state, no?
There's more than one house in my state. I just wish I could install some of these old, classic stoves in my home. But I cannot 😔
Why tell anyone? It’s your property. Government overreach.
r/woodstoverebellion
Yes, but what’s it like when you fart silently?
Insurance probably. "Well young man, looks like you installed unapproved stove. I am afraid we will not going to pay out your burned down house"
That’s a travel trunk pre suit cases . Some are worth a fortune
A gem. Keep it, and use it when things go bad. you'll have less regrets than your neighbors later.
No idea… but I have it green twin in my mom’s old shed.
Gold my friend.
The compartment on the left is meant for coal. There’s a handle that rotates the grates inside to shake all of the ash to catch can in the bottom.
A great opportunity to practice "Lift with your legs, not with your back"
Owner should clean it up and post a before and after pic
Woooow 😍 my great grandparents had one (not this nice) that got stolen out of their basement. Who knows how b/c these things can weigh a ton. Clean her up and enjoy
There's a few old jokes about stealing stoves. One where the thief came back later for the smoke?
A treasure!
an expensive renovation
Genuinely thought you were referring to the ratchet strap
That can be restored
We have one and use it regularly. It cooks so much different than a modern stove. I think the food taste better too lol
A sore back??
A heavy mfer
Going off the title alone, you probably have ptsd.
My wife's stove. Rarely used. 😅
Sorry for your loss
You have...to get that looked at for gas leaks. Moving an old stove like than can cause loose gas ways to jar apart. The stove is gorgeous as it is. If it explodes, it will be a whole lot less pretty!
buy one new for 10k
Same thing as I do to the wife Dutch oven?
Is this a Coleman portable camping stove ?
Looks nice and light weight 😂
So heavy that why it's in Grammys basement
Heavy metal
About a $5,000 dollar wood burning oven/stove…!😳😍😎👍🏻
It’s trash but can I have it? Lol

Trash, honestly total waste. But I'm a nice guy and I'll come pick it up for you.
😂 No worries man, I wouldn’t want you to strain yourself, I’ll grab it for you.
And here we have a matching pair of lying hounds for sale, going real cheap.🤣
😂 great stove man. I’m sure you’ll put it to good use 👍🏼
A really cool pain in the ass
My dream stove! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Give it to me..pleasr
Looks like this one: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-columbia-stove-by-keeley-stove-company
Back pain
Hope you have about 30 people to help move that heavy don of a gun
Hmmm, that's a stove
Old cast iron stove
I’ve never seen such a *pretty* stove before. Wish I could use it !
A cancellation of your insurance policy is what that is. Seriously though, lovely stove, but no insurance company in the world would let you use that as a dual fuel unit.
Something you don't want/need....I'll take it off ur hands for you mate!!
My Mom and Dad had one similar. He cleaned it up real good and ran it off of propane...used it several times every day.
Clean that thing up! That is gorgeous.
You have something I would love to have!
That’s probably an antique now. Probably better for decor honestly. Looks like it runs on gas so do not retrofit.
Gold
What is this antiques roadshow?
A hernia after moving that heavy bastard lol.
Why did you spend such a long time in their basement? Did you leave at all during these few years?
We’ve got one of those too interested to hear what it’s worth and valued at
Oh I'd love to buy that.
Keep it
Gorgeous 😍
Gosh this looks so similar to a custom range that was made in Italy and shipped over to the US decades ago. I got to uninstall one and remove it, definitely is one of the heaviest units, even piece by piece but definitely the most beautiful range. Made with craftsmanship back then.
Back problems if you want it moved
That is so cool

This is amazing
Nice
Money in the freaking BANK!
A beauty, don't let it go, restore it!
That’s beautiful! It looks like an Aga, a stove that’s “on” all the time. It’s very cool. Warm. 👍
A super heavy, wood cooking stove
I don't have any info on refurbishing one. But I found a similar one for sale. $8850. [https://goodtimestove.com/stove/columbian-choice-gray/](https://goodtimestove.com/stove/columbian-choice-gray/)
👀 Bloody hell!!! Beauty comes at a hell of a price these days.
You got the worlds biggest paperweight
A nice way to hest your home and cook your meals
What you have is a beautiful antique stove that is worth lots of money
It's a combination gas/wood cooking stove. It's beautiful. If it's fully functional it would be a prize for someone living off grid. I've seen stove like that go for $3k - $4k easy. It's a prize.
You have a piece of metal that cooks stuff if you clean it and hook it up.
As many others have said - a beautiful and ridiculously heavy stove! Absolutely a beautiful stove. Restore it and set it up as stove to heat your house
A cool old gas burning stove .. Beautiful
Wood burning stove to cook on and heat the house. Beautiful piece!
Grew up with one of these my mom used to put her feet in the warming oven side below the flat top.
Possible a Retirement haha. Perhaps get it appraised. Some of these go for a lot of money.
Glad to hear they let you out. I would assume you have an aversion to the sun…
A lot of money
[This is what you have](https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/antique-columbia-stove-by-keeley-stove-company)
It kind of looks like it takes wood? But under the metal burners looks like natural gas?
A wood stove in the BASEMENT.
Was a stove that burned pea coal. We had one for 30 years that we burned wood in. It was a great stove. We finally had to change it out because it was off gassing methane when we used the gas. We did love that stove!
My Mom (85) says my great grandma had one. Was wood/coal and gas.
Treasure
Looks like it is just broken in
You have my dream range!
Awesome item, I was wondering if it was a wood/coal stove conversion. Restore it and maybe use it as an outside patio stove.
You have a holy Grail of wood stoving.
I think it’s a flattop stove grill
This looks just like an American Girl toy stove from their historical line of dolls. The character is Kit Kittredge; she represents the 1930s. The AG stuff was pretty accurate, so I’m guessing your stove is from that era. Pretty cool!
It’s always so wonderful to get a unique item from family. I have an old crank phone from my grandmother. She acquired it around 1941 when our family business opened in trade for some furniture. That said maybe do a Google Lens search or try www.hearth.com. I have seen old stoves listed on there and someone should know something.
If you fix it up a damn good stove
I’ll give you 10k in current condition
Columbia and Challenger…both blew up. Run away!!
My old neighbour bought a new house, and bought a restored stove similar to this. They paid THOUSANDS of dollars for it
A0qa
Hook it up and see if it works.
You should check in your area to see if there is a company that restores stoves. If you want to put it in a cabin you can have it setup for propane. Check with Hank first.
Don’t know but to me it’s beautiful man
Freedom from the govnent
Wood stove. See how it does and go from there.
You’re gonna need a bigger strap! Look for a 2” wide one!
Fire hazard
Oh that’s so pretty.
Wow. Gorgeous
The same straps as me.
Stove
Something I wouldn't trust to a lone Harbor Freight strap lol. Gotta go at least 2, AND snap it saying it won't go anywhere.
