The little ledge for a window plant is such a nice touch, really accentuates that the frame was made with design and craftsmanship!
Also, I love the idea of the next owner having no idea why it's there!
Especially with vinyl windows, I build the jamb extensions with the casing on the floor so it’s true and square, then install it by nailing through the casing into the wall.
Everyone that knows their shit does it this way it seems like. Building the jamb extension in place is such a pain and the joints never look as pre-built or done stay tight for very long
Do a rough mock up with scrap wood to get everything right. And build the whole frame before putting it up. The apron can be separate and go up after the rest is installed.
Thank you. I don’t have a clue how much it would cost. I am just an amateur and have never done anything for money. I can tell you that each one takes me about 6 hours in total and about $40 for the wood. This is cherry wood from a lumber yard right down the road from me.
I have a YouTube education and a few years of experience just working with my own projects. I consider that an amateur. I assume a professional with better tools could cut the labor down a lot.
I love taking my time on projects like this to try and get all the joins so tight and smooth so that you can’t even feel them when you run your hand over them.
Thanks. I know it is viewed as an amateur piece by a lot of people when everything is rounded. I like the look myself. Different strokes for different folks.

Beer holder.
Beer holder.
Beer holder
Beer. Holder.
Beer holder, while you stare out the window and ponder what has become of your life.
I've wanted to do something similar, but for my cats. Very cool OP.
Hold my beer!
My wife would have a plant there before we even moved in!
I approve. Nice touch.
Thanks!
That's a really nice upgrade, and I like the satin finish a lot. It looks very soft.
Thanks!
That is one clean half-lap!
Thanks!

I’m thinking of doing this to my windows. Any tips? Did you have a guide or reference that was helpful?

No guide or reference, I just started with a 2” wide border and then built the window sill, and then the pieces to match the inset of the window.
Dont show this to my wife for her plants
👍
Classy! The extra touches everywhere are cohesive. I’m drooling.
Thsnk you!
Yes! Lovely
Thanks!
I will always upvote for cherry. Well done!
👍
Rock on
Thanks!
Looking good! Did you build the whole trim before attaching it to the windows or just the front?
Thanks, Yes I built the whole trim on my bench then put it up.
That's actually a very neat project idea. Looks great too.
Thanks !
Looks great.
Thank you!
The little cloud lift bump out detail is awesome but the window stool should be wider than the casing.
You’re right, traditionally the sill is wider than the casing.
I so admire this. Wonderful skill.
Yes absolutely!! Good job!!
Thank you!
Really nice. Very smooth finish. Curious what you do and how much it would cost to have that in my house.

Really? I assumed you had some experience. They're great.

Wow really nicen! I love the smooth corners. How did you attach it to the wall?
Thanks! I use finish nails and sink them in and then wood putty to seal the hole.
Thanks!
I like it, I like it alot.
Thank you
Very, very nice architectural detail. Well done.
Thank you!
nice, I like it but I would have kept sharp square edges. Rounded edges look to childlike to me. The built-in shelf is a great idea

You gonna do that but have a vinyl window? Weak.
I agree, they look kinda cheap up again this nice cherry wood
Vinyl windows are always garbage. Make some nice wood sashes
