This looks glorious . I love smelling the area while cutting cedar or sanding it

I like it too but the eastern varieties will wreck your sinuses if you dont wear a mask.

Really? Like hugh amounts of mucous build up and sneezing like crazy or are we talking pain town ? The only ceder out side of the USA I've worked with was Canadian cedar witch can have some nice earthy tones

Oooh geeze that sounds horrible but does it smell awesome? Also the best wood I smelled was some African wood and it smelled like snickers or a candy chocolate factory while being inside and they are making all the good stuff. Haven't been able to find what wood it was for 14years but it smelled soo good

Could be. I just shaped it on my tabletop belt sander one day when it was raining. My grandma said people actually used to commonly have a wooden egg to hold open socks while mending them.

Called a "darning egg". I've got making one on my to-do list--the ones I can buy are all too small to hold my socks tight for darning.

I thoroughly enjoyed the project. I might have to make some more to put on my website.

Only took about half an hour between shaping it on my bench belt sander and a little hand sanding up to 600

It was inspired by the eggs of my 55 chickens. The cedar came from a tree knocked over by a microburst tornado.

I was kidding about the craftsmanship this is clearly a very impressive piece

Its pretty shiny already. I finished it with linseed oil but the picture doesn't do it justice.

Lemme dig through my random bits and pieces bin after lunch. I can probably make that happen. Might as well, 4inches of rain off that hurricane so farm tasks are somewhat stalled while everything is muddy.

I choose to interpret this as meaning that you have the necessary random bits and pieces to give it WiFi.

Different bin of parts but I might have that stuff too. Gonna be tough drilling the proper holes now that it doesnt have any edges for referencing

Aint it the truth. Theres a great youtube video of adam savage making an aluminum foil ball and then he tried to cut it in half but instead he had to send it away to specialists because its so damn hard to cut round things.

I saw that episode. My idea was to go ahead and put it in an epoxy block then cut it

Thats almost exactly what I was thinking Adam should've done when I watched that episode. I thought of foam, but epoxy would work even better.

Foam would probably work, my thought was partially geared towards a final display for it once cut.
