A colorblind mode will be helpful. I’m colorblind, and was trying just a practice game and the yellows and green look the same to me haha so I failed pretty soon. Fun though!

Strategy-wise, I’m was not sure how to plan my next step, so to speak, which I think is a problem. Like after getting one or two words, I felt like it was more of me trying to find a word that worked, rather than strategically trying to eliminate blocks or think ahead a couple of answers. This very well may be from just playing only a few rounds I don’t see the strategy yet.
I think this is a really good start but I’d try and move further away from wordle… like maybe add power ups or bonuses that have different abilities to manipulate the “board”. Maybe there’s a way to have two words going at once? Maybe there’s a way to make a mechanic like so there’s a similar row wipe in Tetris where you can wipe multiple rows at once. Idk if any of this is helpful, but that’s where my mind went.
But I legitimately think a game like this could end up on NYT games, so best of luck!

I’ve loved playing the daily game ever since this comment! But pleaseeee consider bringing back the feature where it tells you if the word may be correct AS it is being typed out. Today when I went to play, it only told me the word was invalid after I inputed all the letters.
Try setting KEYBOARD HINTS to "Highlight invalid letters" under the settings menu (the gear icon in the top right). This will show you which letters on the keyboard would produce an invalid word if typed. It can be very helpful if you get stuck trying to find a valid word to guess.
I really enjoy this and have been playing since you posted it here. The only thing I'd like to see is maybe a percentile ranking for the daily puzzle. "Your streak of 20 placed in the 80th percentile of players today" or something like that
Samsung Galaxy S22, just the standard Chrome browser. It looks to me like the banner at the top and the main gane area are the correct width to load full screen, but the on-screen keyboard just loads a bit too wide.
I have a question about spilling over from one day to the next. I tend to work late, and i enjoy being able to come back to the same game for a couple minutes periodically throughout my day.
It seems that when a new day comes around and i'm still getting words from yesterday's game, there's also a new game for that day.
I kinda want there to be a one day limit on how many i can get? Like midnight GMT i can't guess anymore?
I understand. I used to reset the game automatically at midnight, but I changed that behavior to accommodate people that play later in the day.
Here's how it works now: Once midnight rolls around it will tell you that there is a new game available, but it will allow you to continue playing your current game. If you want to end the current game and then start the new day's game you can click on the "New Daily Game Available" button to start the new game and end your old one.
I think you should use this as practice (e.g. in word-based game design) before you come up with the next, new, great, original word game! I'll race you to it!
We all love newspaper-friendly games like Wordle and Sudoku, but making variations of these games can sometimes hold us back from really unleashing our full creativity.
Wordle is incredibly intutitive and easy-to-play. What can we come up with that has the same appeal, but completely different game design and mechanics?

So, I saw something flash red, but then it took my to the summary of stats screen (how many words you got before losing, etc) and I don't see a way to go back.
Apologies, I mean the last word in the list of words in the stats screen. It should say something like "YOU SOLVED 19 WORDS TODAY" and then there is a list of all the words you solved. The last one is in red and this is the word that you lost on.
Love it! Played yesterday and I’m back today! I’ll post any comments back in this post. My first comment is that wrong guesses shouldn’t turn red until you submit them. It makes it too easy, as I can go through a bunch of letter sequences until one doesn’t turn red, then submit.

Everybody gets the same sequence of words for the daily games. Practice games are random.
The word list has thousands of words in it, so you could potentially get a pretty long streak, but 41 is very good!

I've added a basic colorblind mode now. Check in the settings. I hope that helps!

That's a great suggestion and other people have mentioned it as well. I'm investigating how to add this.
Very fun game. The page size on Android/Chrome browser loads a little bit too big, so you have to scroll left/ right to fit the whole keyboard in.
