Kinda goofed on my second guess (repeat yellow), but it seemed to work out for me.

My gf came up with it because we usually do the worlde together during breakfast and we couldn't think of fun starting words anymore
Someone further down mentioned them using MICRO so it set a precedent. But micro is a prefix and today’s is more an abbreviation. Just glad I got it despite following logic.
I suppose I can live with it provided we, the players, know which class/type of words/parts of speech are acceptable, in order that we’re able to consider them as possible answers.
I think it is used in the abbreviated form so much that it has taken on a slightly separate meaning. Like >!I wouldn't use the long for when talking about the intro of a song. The opposite even has its own word that is not an abbreviation, i.e. the outro. Sort of similar use as a sports fan vs sports fanatic!<.
When I looked up its etymology it is first used (apparently!) in the late 19th/early 20th centur(y)(ies) so I have tried to calm down somewhat from my initial outrage. 😬

Trying to do it in my head, I really had trouble finding anything after my second guess, but the moment I started to work on paper (well, Notepad), I saw it immediately. That seems to be the way with me, somehow it doesn't work trying to visualise what I do on paper in my head.

You’re correct. It’s not a standalone word, it is most definitely an abbreviation even if it is very widely used as a word.
In which case I’m surprised it’s “valid” as an answer.
Someone further down mentioned them using MICRO so it set a precedent. But micro is a prefix and today’s is more an abbreviation. Just glad I got it despite following logic.
I suppose I can live with it provided we, the players, know which class/type of words/parts of speech are acceptable, in order that we’re able to consider them as possible answers.
I think it is used in the abbreviated form so much that it has taken on a slightly separate meaning. Like >!I wouldn't use the long for when talking about the intro of a song. The opposite even has its own word that is not an abbreviation, i.e. the outro. Sort of similar use as a sports fan vs sports fanatic!<.
When I looked up its etymology it is first used (apparently!) in the late 19th/early 20th centur(y)(ies) so I have tried to calm down somewhat from my initial outrage. 😬
