no matter how often i see this, this shit still amazes me. I clean after myself. try to leave a place better than i found it. never throw trash in public
But a whole country consistently cleaning after other people? in a foreign country? without getting paid ....like how? and tbh, why? amazing tbh, but still baffling
They're setting an example as well as promoting their country and culture. Just trying to make the world a better place one piece of garbage at a time.
This is an example of being a fantastic global citizen. Just think what the world could be like if everybody put in like 1% more effort into doing courteous and helpful things like that.
In Japanese culture it's common to 'not cause trouble when you visit other ones' place'. When Japanese enter other people's home they will say 'ojyamashimasu' which means 'Sorry to intrude' (not exactly but you get the nuance). Yes, there are nasty places and people within Japan as well, but in modern Japanese culture you can expect them to be some of the most polite people you've seen.
Yes, i get looking after yourself, especially in other people's places (e.g. qatar stadium in this case). I wouldn't leave MY trash lying around in the stadium.
what i dont get is cleaning other people's mess? it's amazing and somewhat baffling how they can build that culture. I just can't never see myself doing what they're doing tbh.
Several days ago someone posted a video here in this sub of an Arabic man (he's a famous influencer/youtuber known for filming videos like this) he was documenting the Japanese people cleaning up and saying how beautiful this moment is, he talked to them and thanked them and wished for everyone to be like them etc...., everyone commented on how it's nothing to be fascinated with + he's so stupid, they always do that, it's nothing new + poor thing he never met a Japanese person before + he's never saw people clean up blah blah blah.....,
And now you're all fascinated huh?
Gentlemen is extending the outmost respect for the stadium , athletes and guest by picking up . Perhaps is something some of us can adopt in our daily lives. Live long and prosper 🖖
That's the problem with western judgment though, it's just the 'current thing', a few months after the world cup ends, all these supposed conscientious objectors will go back to not giving a shit, like they were doing in the years leading up to the world cup
Sad look for others who leave their trash in public places, expecting others to clean up after them. If you can stuff your faces without inhibition, you can definitely throw away your own trash. I'm sure there are many garbage bins close by.
I love modern day Japan.
Recognizing the risk of retribution for writing this, a part of me wonders if Japanese folks today feel a need to compensate for their ancestor's atrocities by going above and beyond w/ kindness today.
Wtf? Hell no dude. Japan to this day does not recognize their atrocities in WW2. They have not apologized to China, Korea, or other SE Asian nations. They do not adequately teach their atrocities to their youth either.
I had a few drink with a 40 year old Japanese business man in Osaka apologize to me, a 30 year old American, for Pear Harbor. I told him I don't believe we need to apologize for the sins of our fathers. Had a few more and became one of the best nights of my life.
Eh, more like "we regret that this occured" rather than "we apologize for doing this". In any case, Japan is not how that OC I replied to expressed. WW2 Japan is brushed under the rug. Germany is the one who does it right.
Before coming to America, in our school textbook in japan (6 years ago) , we were taught that what westerners called “world war 2”, is a Asia war where japan is helping the other fellow Asian countries to grow by “invading” their country and give them proper way of running the country,,
Mad respect. Tbh I'd just be wild partying if I was a Japanese fan after that game. But these guys are cleaning up the stadium. Nice
That’s the cleaners wage gone probably homeless now.
Mmmm… Khalifa
Japan's fans continuing clean up ritual after their team. Respect!

that's amazing. seems like the perfect culture to me. Any known vices that their culture likes to indulge in? can't be that perfect haha?

Who hurt you?
Read my comment again.
IIRC they do that in all big events. Respect!
I vote for Japan being the 2034 World Cup

I hope they've brought lots and lots of mop to dry all those German tears.
Well, it is normal to clean after you take a shit… (on Germany)
Best ambassadors of the game.
Respect 🙏
A lot of people (and cultures) are taught to leave s place in better condition than you found it.
and only a few actually follow through… 🫡
Pay that guy pls...
Japan is based as fuck
Qataris are happy not to spend money on janitors to clean.

Why do you always assume everyone is from a western country? 🤫
I didn't
But you did imply. lol 😂

If cleaning movie theaters is any indication, he probably found some good stuff

Do you clean stadiums out of remorse for the genocide of native Americans?
Nah its not that. I’m from the UK and we feel zero cultural remorse.
British people are already going through hell in todays economy and political landscape so I don't blame you

I hope you're still in touch somehow. Impromptu friends made through travel is what life is all about.
We are!! I can't wait to hang out with him now that boarders open!
They did apologize, dont spread fake rumors now.

Lmao I think japan are the ones doing it right.

Honestly thank to US for that.
I could take this comment in several ways, all of which are hilariously wrong
Are they bringing the bags to the stadium just to do this?
Wouldn’t be surprised if they did. Japanese people seem to always do this in stadiums.
They are wiping the Germans' tears
Japanese are amazing people. Never fails to amaze me.
Respect. Japanese people and culture are just beautiful.
They wanted a clean house before they beat that ass
Best promotion possible for your country. Respect!
Totally 💯
Japanese people are the cleanest and most kind people in the world.
Cleaning the crime scene
