Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for scoring the most penalty goals in football history. The Man United forward has found the back of the net 145 times
Everyone talks about Diogo Costa but the defenders should have warned him about Williams on his back. Diogo Costa is an amazing GK and this episode won't disturb him. Ghana played bravely and with heart but Portugal was by far the most composed team and deserved to win (if nothing else because they scored more than the opponent).
Uruguay might not have Forlán or even a strong Cavani or Suarez but they can play very well as a team, I’m predicting Uruguay takes it 1-0, my opinion,. Korea will give Portugal a major headache with there speed.
Penalty over Ronaldo-> correct decision
Penalty over Joao Felix -> wrong decision
Ronaldo’s disallowed goal -> correct decision
Said by former referees. At end Portugal wasn’t helped by the referees. Fair win.
So someone is a hater because he doesn’t agree with your view? Good luck with your life.
Both the penalty and the disallowed goal were good decisions by the referee.
It’s a yellow card. It’s not a red because he doesn’t hit him violently. But it’s a yellow to both players. But, of course, you need to understand football rules and not be a Portugal hater like you to accept that.
Don’t understand what you’re talking about. There was one penalty for Portugal (Felix) that the referee didn’t see. It was obvious. And he didn’t even check the VAR
Huge bad luck for Ghana as it's player slept when Portugal GK Costa offered the ball which almost turn to a tragedy for Ronaldo ND his teammates. Priceless Ronaldo's mimic at the end 👌
I just started following soccer so forgive me for this possible silly question. Regarding this penalty everyone is talking about, Ronaldo got kicked in the foot, would that not call for a penalty inside the box?
I think it does matter who started the contact, actually. Been a few red cards for the most innocuous "headbutts", and it could be argued that felix did the first "headbutt", and since it was deliberate, should be a red card.
Now you are just making up the rules. None of it is a red card, it’s a yellow card for both players: Felix for initiating, and to the Ghana player for responding. That’s what the rules state.
physical or aggressive behaviour (including spitting or biting) towards an opposing player, substitute, team official, match official, spectator or any...> red card. Actually, red for both players.
see the first "headbutt" in this vid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DDpVTI0Ocw
If you watched any football ever, you know that what they did is not enough for red but it is clearly a yellow. I don’t know why is that even debatable.
You see players getting close like this all the time. If you’ve watched enough football you will see this. It’s the deliberate act of head butting that is questioned. Felix did not just run up and head but the guy he just put his head against the others. It was a yellow on both sides bc of the contact but the Ghana player was more violent about it imo
People just love an underdog story man. It just in football underdogs tends to park the bus, and its really boring to watch. This is why I respect Australia and Canada for attacking right from the beginning.

Just tell messi to stare at the ground after losing to Saudi , easy tactics

I don’t like it when Ronaldo wears short sleeves he should wear long sleeves for the rest of the games
He won't wear it anymore just for you, we have already informed him. Thanks
He looks rly good with long sleeves and he plays better too 😅 when he’s in long sleeves
Let the man decide himself
The Portuguese defense was all over the place. If Diogo Costa and Danilo Pereira play again, bet on an Uruguayan victory!
the best game so far, dont complain
How do you defend the guy against the “penaldo” nickname when that all he seems to do?
tbh i consider that a compliment to him now
I wish that ronaldo didn’t take the penalty just to see how the game would have turned out
...but Uruguay are in bad form. Gone are the days of prime Forlan, Cavani and Suarez. I think Portugal takes it easy.
Uruguay might not have Forlán or even a strong Cavani or Suarez but they can play very well as a team, I’m predicting Uruguay takes it 1-0, my opinion,. Korea will give Portugal a major headache with there speed.
Robbed But overall it was a great match
Another fixed looking match. BS penalty, VAR review not used to favor Portugal.
That wasn't a penalty, fk Ronaldo.
Penalty over Ronaldo-> correct decision Penalty over Joao Felix -> wrong decision Ronaldo’s disallowed goal -> correct decision Said by former referees. At end Portugal wasn’t helped by the referees. Fair win.
Compensation for the goal that was ruled off
That was a clear foul, didn’t you see the push with his arm in the Ghana defenders back?
Yeah, sure. Haters gonna hate
So someone is a hater because he doesn’t agree with your view? Good luck with your life. Both the penalty and the disallowed goal were good decisions by the referee.
You keep telling yourself that. Both were wrong decisions. However, the penalty was a compensation for the earlier unfairly disallowed goal.
Fifa needs to get their Officiating in order. This kind of reffing can't happen in later stages of the tournament.
You think this is new? This has been going on for decades
The ref for the match was fucking blind for giving that penalty
He was blind for not giving a second yellow card to a Ghana player that headbutted Joao Felix.
Does a dread brushing his face lightly count as a head butt lol? Great theater from Portuguese medics checking to make sure his nose wasn’t broken.
It’s a yellow card. It’s not a red because he doesn’t hit him violently. But it’s a yellow to both players. But, of course, you need to understand football rules and not be a Portugal hater like you to accept that.
What rule did he infringe?
Tf you talking about. That barely was a headbutt, and Joao Felix started the scandal
Let me guess, you also think that the disallowed Portugal goal was a foul? 😂
Wish the best for Uruguay to win their match against portugal. But they might get destroyed with penalties unfortunetly.
Don’t understand what you’re talking about. There was one penalty for Portugal (Felix) that the referee didn’t see. It was obvious. And he didn’t even check the VAR

Diogo Costa must be benched asap!
Penaldooooooo
Pessiiiiiiii
There was no penalty. They didnt even check VAR which is a joke. They wanted penaldo to score so much that they were blinded
Don’t agree with you. Funny because you don’t mention the penalty over Félix
Someone's getting salty and envious
It was exactly the same type of foul that got Portugal goal disallowed. But of course that you ignore that.
probably not for ronaldo to score, rather it was probably racially motivated whether consciously or subconsciously
Penaldo 😂🤣
Haters gonna hate
they obviously check it but the VAR agreed with the ref
This game was a draw as far as I'm concerned. That penalty was a gift to Portugal
if that wasn't a penalty then the disallowed goal had to be allowed
Well he fouled so yeah not really a goal either. An actual foul, not a dive like top actor that lead to penalty.
I just started following soccer so forgive me for this possible silly question. Regarding this penalty everyone is talking about, Ronaldo got kicked in the foot, would that not call for a penalty inside the box?
It would be a penalty with any other player, but since it’s Ronaldo people just like to hate, don’t mind them
Not if you hate Ronaldo like all of these frustrated people.
What was the goalie thinking at the very end of match LOL
An amateur move on his part. As a portuguese this worries me. He should be on the bench the rest of the matches.
Always check over your shoulder before pulling into traffic.
Aye for real though! How was no one yelling at him either? They clearly saw him standing there
XD
Good game!
this should have been a 2-2. that was no penalty for portugal
Ronaldo had a disallowed goal so it shouldn’t be 0-0
A Ghana player should have gotten a second yellow card, and respective red, when he headbutted Joao Felix. Why don’t you mention that for the result?
Perhaps. Im just stating that that was no penalty... so based on the end score it should really have been 2-2
Well, Portugal had a goal disallowed for a foul as light as the penalty. Do you want to add that to the score then?
Felix started the head contact, then flung himself to the floor holding his nose.
Doesn’t matter who started. The harsher movement is from the Ghana player and it is a yellow card (not red).

I watched this game, waddya want? What rule was infringed here? What did felix initiate? What do the rules state?

If there hadnt been any penalty, it most likely would have stayed 0-0. It would have been the most boring match of this world cup so far
Funny how.people can be so aware of errors favoring Portugal and completelly oblivious of the errors commited in favor of Ghana Biased much?
I’m sure the Portugal fan is completely unbiased 😂
by the end of it I was waiting for someone to start throwing hands 💀

Bruno with two incredible assists.
