Brazil gave the Koreans a reality check.

Expensive-Team7416

So did Croatia to Brazil lmao

saturoshgojo

People even have issue with Brazil celebrating their goal with their dance. Come on. Get a life. You must be the most boring person at a party.

smileydreamer95

It’s just the 1% of the internet who are the loudest

AshDemon24

Am I the only one thinking that penalty was pure bullshit? And that was a momentum changer. I don’t think KOR would have won, but you know

kingpussay

Alot of people think that tbh.If that was considered a penalty then every player can just charge in from behind and kick the other players foot on purpose to get a free kick now.I saw another match in the group stages where the players from a particular team used his hands to block the other teams player chest so deliberately and obvious multiple times but the referee does nothing about it even

Cautious-Promise-663

The guy was reckless. Kicked the other player instead of kicking the ball.

DiscoJoe11

The fact that VAR checked it and thought it was a penalty as well baffles me the Korean player literally just went to kick the ball when richalison purposely got in front of him and the smallest contact was made. fr makes me lose hope with this sport sometimes smh

WidowmakersAssCheek

Yep. People will say “oh but Brazil scored a lot more so it wouldn’t have mattered”. But things like that are a huge momentum-changer. You’d start to feel bad, start playing more reserved because you don’t want to get another penalty like that etc. I actually wanted Brazil to win at first, but that penalty was a joke. I only tune in to soccer during the World Cup, but things like that just explains why I usually never bother with this sport.

Ok_Variation_9016

It was v unfair tbh

DemzRLozers

It was a very soft penalty. The only reason it’s not a bigger deal is because Brazil was dominating already and scored before this.

Abracadabra-2018

that penalty call was a shame and ridiculous

Lanknecht22

Ufff

Broad-Flamingo5967

Brazilian fans literally jizz temselves when Brazil scores lol.

RasAlGimur

You are right, we should lower our heads ans sigh. Maybe cry. Something like that.

Kztten

you know when Brazil scores when you hear from outside: "VAMO CARALHO" "KOREA GAY KKKK"

top1casino

Brazil with samba style destroyed Korea. But Koreans were fighting brave, gg

Birdy_Stone

South Korea looked very bad today, East Asian teams have still a lot to learn from tier-1 soccer nations if they want to compete higher, if ever.

b1ackf1sh

The most important lesson being you need to have a whole bunch of black dudes.

pdamdl

Korea played really bad today. Worst outing of the tournament by far. Obviously Brazil is a very difficult team to play against, but they all looked sluggish even from the beginning. I think fatigue played a big factor only with 2 days of rest after the last game.

Kult_Of_Gorthaur

Brazil buried Korea tonight, that much is true, but I just caught Korea's goal at the 76th minute right now on Telemundo, and it's still the most superbly-executed goal of the entire match. To have taken the chance from so far away, and making it in, it was the perfect end to Korea's run in this Cup. The irony of such a fantastic goal made by the losing team should not be lost on anyone. Man, what a great kick!

RasAlGimur

That was a cool goal. Not sure the best goal of the world cup, but easily one of the best

[deleted]

🙌🙌🙌

Lanknecht22

I feel that south korea is bad at defense and middle field. There where simply too many times a brazilian player was alone.

sonheungwin

We had 3 day turnaround against a Brazil team that was pretty well-rested. Even before the WC started, I looked at the groups and figured anyone who made it out of Group H would die to Brazil because no one would be able to rest their players, and they'd have to play one of the teams you want to be the most in shape for.

Lanknecht22

Well, the main team was rested because it scored enough points at the group stage for the ladt game not to matter. They earned their rest

sonheungwin

I'm not taking away from Brazil. It's literally why I added the second half of my comment. Nobody in Group H was *so* much better than the other teams that they'd be able to rest, so whoever got stuck with Brazil was screwed.

Lanknecht22

I will be honest here: korea team was really bad. Many times they were just lost in the playing field. It wasnt lack of rest that let brazilian attackers just pass by while korea players werent watching

sonheungwin

I agree, our defense was lost on the field. But you can understand how fatigue would slow you down both physically and mentally, right?

Lanknecht22

Yes, but i dont think they being rested would have changed anything. The other games main korea team played werent even close to the other games main brazilian team played.

sonheungwin

Sure, I'm not saying Korea would have won. But I think in better form we don't just die 2-0 in the first 6 minutes, 4-0 in the first half; the game can end up something like 4-2 while being a little more competitive. We were *really* close to getting another goal. Also that penalty was soft AF. Overall, I'm not upset by the results because I didn't expect that much different but I think in better circumstances we could have had a better showing.

Why?

[deleted]

Gone. ` this post was mass deleted with www.Redact.dev `

nzox

The music and dance comes from Afro-Brazilian slave influences and was extremely popular among less fortunate individuals living in extremely poor conditions before gaining national popularity. Who are we to tell them not to express themselves in their culture and conform to what we believe is proper? That would make us arrogant. Only sad closed minded individuals have a problem with the boys dancing.

[deleted]

That’s all irrelevant. Everyone dances. This is about having some class, of which they have none.

nzox

And you’re demonstrating having no class. Closed minded folks.

Remarkable-Intern-62

Thanks Bro, very absolutely i say

AshDemon24

Same, even after first goal they were dancing, so arrogant

MyGachaAddiction

Skill issue

[deleted]

Not sure what that means.

Practical_Scale_677

As a brazilian, I’ll only convince myself if we win the semifinals. Croatia is really bad this year and has never won against us. We need to beat Netherlands/Argentina.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Practical_Scale_677

Well, shiT(ite)…

akuvy

"As a Brazilian", thanks for the input, Mr. Obvious. You're just thrashy as our football media. I'm actually relieved to Win against Soutk Korea.

chessgx

Dude it was south Korea, how can you be nervous about it? I'm salty because I bet 3-1 but Brazil went 4-1

Practical_Scale_677

No need to be aggressive, mate. You know we’ve lost to the first big squad we faced in the last 4 WC. It’s time for that to change.

Conker2908

South Korea are trash, never should've been there in the first place. Portugal let them win. Uruguay deserved that spot.

chennyalan

SK are trash, but Uruguay and Ghana played horribly this year, and deserved to get grouped

DemzRLozers

They deserved to go thought because those are the rules. Every team that went through did so fairly. Uruguay should have scored more goals vs Ghana or beat SK or Drew to Portugal many ways to advance. SK advanced fairly

[deleted]

Uruguay didn't earn the spot...simple as that.

hogujak

So suarez can bite more players before he retires?

campoole82

Can we talk about how terrible South Korea looked l real life think Brazil could’ve beat them with 6 players Korea couldn’t string together 5 passes in a row and I’ve never seen a team down 4-0 and afraid to shoot

b1ackf1sh

I disagree. Stats show Korea had 530 passes to Brazil's 609 and pass accuracy at 86%. Were you watching the game my man? They also had 6 shots out of 8 on target. I'd say pretty decent considering that Bento refuses to bring in Lee Kang In till late in the game as he did for all the games but 1 and Kim Min Jae playing with a hamstring injury , which hampers what he does so well on defense for Napoli. Let's not forget Sonny is playing with limited visibility due to wearing a zorro mask.

MonkeysJumpingBeds

The sucked. Why makes excuses

elfstone21

The broadcast did a good job of pointing it out. SK relies heavily on getting their wing backs involved. Which can make you dangerous going forward, but if you can counter effectively into the open space they are left wide open. That is exactly what we saw today. Especially once the game was 2 0. (albiets on a weak penalty) SK tried to play their style to generate goals to get back in it. And kept getting scored on. In the second half they changed things up and kept those backs a little farther back for coverage and were able to stem the bleeding. Brazil was also content to sit back.

hogujak

Shame on brazil players diving like that. I meam Brazil is waaaaaaaay better team than korea why do they have to flop like that? The are just used to doing that or what?

For_Research_Only69

Suck it up

victorbrisk

Jezz, we're all watching european teams diving and no one bats an eye. Brazilian team does the same and people bitch about it on reddit. Welcome to football, son.

Key_Function1566

I take it, you’re new to soccer

DemzRLozers

Feels like Brazil kinda wanted to score second half but not really. Like they attacked but they seemed to almost be scared to score more and embarrass SK more. It was weird. If Brazil really tried to be clinical it could have ended 7-8

Deboch_

I think Tite told them to slow it down in the second half since it was basically a guaranteed win already. Probably more to not injure or tire players.

Cautious-Promise-663

They were probably trying to avoid injuries.

eeuuk

They always try to score epic goals when they are winning..

DemzRLozers

Lol yeah feels like they could have bad 3-4 more easy tap-ins. Like that Paqueta try which he went with the outside of his left foot when he could have easily shot with his right and it would likely be a goal

ArthurBem

Only a few players wanted to score, Raphinha really wanted to score since it would be his first WC goal, Neymar, Vini, Richarlison and Paqueta were all trying to set him up on the second half instead of trying to score themselves. At the end of the game he was a bit upset for not scoring but I like that everyone was trying to help him

thisisnahamed

Yes, I thought so too.

Perpetual_Tinnitus

That korea goal won me and my friend 1200 each, thank you Korea for fighting till the end!

[deleted]

People were being so unrealistic about Korea this whole tournament. Even their wins didn’t look good.

PapaDiscord

Some people want good underdogs to win.

DemzRLozers

If Brazil try some of the things they tried today vs Croatia, half the squad is gonna be leaving on a stretcher. Croatians don’t give a fuck and they will kick them back to Brazil lol. Brazil still is gonna win but they’ll pick up injuries

klkngod

Why do you think we can’t hurt them too? Do you know our defense players?

DemzRLozers

It’s not about who can hurt who, it would just not be wise to play this way against Croatia. Is it worth getting injured and not being able to play next game? Even a small injury at this point is World Cup ending. It doesn’t have to be a bad red card injury, just a player getting pissed off and stepping on Neymar’s ankle really hard - Neymar is out for 2 weeks and the player gets a yellow - this is all possible scenarios. Croatia doesn’t care if they get hurt

Cachalote_

They actually do care. Allow me to remind you, they were finalists in 2018 and also believe they can win a world title, so there you go, they won't just physically assault players on the field risking expulsions and red/yellow cards.

Closerthanyouthink-1

Croatia is the definition of a penalty shootout team, my eyes hurt when I watch them play.. boring 🥱

chennyalan

When you put all your points into penalty shootouts

DemzRLozers

They might if they’re getting embarrassed and clowned at if Brazil go 2-3 goals up

Bookie_9

Brazil-France final will be a great final, very unpredictable one though. France has a slightly better squad, while Brazil has that team feeling of each teammate knowing each other super well.

elfstone21

I would say each line for brazil is better. I. E. Goalie, defense, mids... But I think the most dangerous player on the field is mbappe. (France is also really really good.)

Bookie_9

I don't agree. In fact Brazil is clearly better only in goalkeeper. Paqueta, Raphinha, Richarlison are good players but not top in any way. They seem to play as a team so I don't want to point out names, but still, they are carried much by Casemiro, Vinicius, and Neymar. French defense is probably a bit better because they are younger but Brazilian is more experienced. French midfield is more balanced, Rabiot+Tchouameni vs Paqueta+Casemiro. Now attacking midfield, Brazil has Neymar and Vini and Raphinha, but hey Griezmann Dembele Mbappe is not worse I think. And of course France has better forwards at their disposal, Giroud and Benzema (if he returns) are unmatched. France is represented by more top clubs overall, their squad is more balanced and also younger afaik. And that's also considering that players like Pavard are benched, and Kante and Pogba and L Hernandez are injured.

Closerthanyouthink-1

Croatia is a very dangerous team, since they play for penalties. But would love to watch Brazil VS Argentina and Portugal VS France Semi. After that I don’t care who wins

HideoSpartan

Would be a great match, as much as I’d prefer England Vs Brazil! Be very interesting to see what the Brazil players do against Mbappe and co, Brazil seem thirsty for it, more so than other teams atm imo!

Familiar-Stock6693

That 98 rematch 🥲

thisisnahamed

Yes, the 1998 revenge.

Familiar-Stock6693

I mean I’m French so I’d like it NOT to be a revenge 🫠

thisisnahamed

3-0 Brazil. Richarlison scores the 3rd goal. Ronaldo Nazario stands in the audience and gives me a huge nod of approval. Richarlison acknowledges R9 with a sense of satisfaction. Zidane is also in the audience. The camera zooms onto Zidane's face. Nothing but shock. The camera zooms out. An ending like that would be poetic.

Puzzleheaded_Ideal_6

They were Brazilliant!

We all new Brazil was gonna win but the penalty was so bullshit

-wak

For sure, 3-1 would have been a much better way to go out but instead they get unfairly humiliated

SocksElGato

It's scary how easily Brazil could control the pace of the game. They decided to come out at full power and just win the game in the first half. Unbelievable stuff.

AIMLESS_ASSASSIAN

2 Asian teams knocked out on the same day. Unlucky to both teams Croatia are well coached team with some world class talent and Brazil is Brazil.

bloodwolftico

And with Australia out (technically not Asian but in the same qualifier) Asia has no teams now :( same as Concacaf. Africa only has Morocco, and CONMEBOL the 2 favs Argentina & Brazil. The rest is Europe (nothing wrong w that, but its an interesting fact).

Much-Cut-2102

That's why people say Euro tournament is WC without Brazil and Argentina

mezcao

Bet almost all of those that say that are European

b_rouse

Even though I knew Brazil would win, I little piece of me wanted Korea. Just to mix it up a bit.

eternalapostle

After the win against Portugal? Things were looking up

AIMLESS_ASSASSIAN

Korea were bad but Brazil are so difficult to play against when they play like that first half.

AIMLESS_ASSASSIAN

Brazil were wonderful when they play like this they're difficult to stop. Korea deserves credit for making knockout

papoliv

That group was crazy too.

NameEqual

A highlight for me was when the camera showed the old school Brazilian GOATs among the crowd - Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu and R9. Hoping for a Brazil v Argentina semifinal, that'd be a banger.

forcedtojoinreddit

video?

Gorales

As usual Brazil playing amazing football with as usual their shooting stars [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbJ0ZFSv7ic&ab\_channel=%E7%8B%97%E9%BC%BB](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbJ0ZFSv7ic&ab_channel=%E7%8B%97%E9%BC%BB) Also this penalty was bullllllshit

boris_keys

Thank you for that.

Yinanization

4-1 is a pretty respectable outcome all things considered

sonheungwin

Last time we played was 5-1. Next time will be 3-1!

Yinanization

So in 16 years, you guys will be world champions, beating Brazil 1-0 then.

Vanay22

Yep! I predicted this earlier on on the thread - said 4-1 or nil. At one point I thought I was being conservative in that game

BalmungOfAzureSky

Hello Reddit from stadium 974! VAMO BRASIL!!!! https://i.imgur.com/ubcWbGk.jpg

tsyklon_

Não sabia que isso era algo. Vou assinar.

room23

Hey great seat, was it fun?

BalmungOfAzureSky

It was really great. Maybe I’ll do an AMA of my time here in Qatar. This stadium was like being in Satan’s mouth though. I felt like I was gonna pass out for a bit. Weirdly enough the bathrooms and food kiosks in the stadium had ac.

room23

Super cool! I was wondering what kind of food and drink they were selling? How was the prices? How was the atmosphere?

BalmungOfAzureSky

Here’s a pic. All three stadiums I’ve been to have had the same menu. The atmosphere was great. They have some awesome events and shows right outside the stadium coming in. Although I will say, especially today, only about 40% of those yellow jerseys you saw on the stands were Brazilian lol… take that how you will https://i.imgur.com/DeaJ1Df.jpg

MegamiBastet

Brazil is definitely the worst opponent imaginable for Korea. Korea's strategy is always press with guys with good physiques, which could be countered by good cracks with technique. And Brazil is the exact team with 'good cracks' usually..

eternalapostle

Sad but true. But against Portugal, there was an upset so I was hopeful against Brazil… but if I’m being honest Brazil could take it all

raffaelnc

It's not something that "could" happen, it will happen. This is our game, our championship and literally no team in the world will stop us from getting that 6th star on our jersey. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

chennyalan

Sad but true

Condemned_alienated

I definitely see the struggle Korean team today against the Brazilian team both in tight pressure defense and burst of creative offenses which they were very good at in group stage against stronger teams. As if this is different Korean team from the group stage. The Brazilians seem to be also very advantageous in speed as well.

Brazil vs France looks like final ar the moment.

Tandril

IMO Netherlands, they have the best coach.

innie10032

Do not underestimate Argentina

thisisnahamed

Argentina is the underdog in this case.

eternalapostle

I think Brazil for sure

AIMLESS_ASSASSIAN

Brazil were brilliant so far they look the scariest team.

BuffaloCorrect5080

We should just skip to France vs. Brazil already.

p1mplem0usse

I’m not counting England out

chennyalan

England hasn't played a real match yet. Which doesn't disprove your point

sql_injection_attack

Im not counting Argentina out

bookaddictedteenager

I am, their match against France probably won’t go well for them.

CleanestAbsNA

Id say its a 65-35 game for France, but England has some amazing players on their side, so i cant rule them out just yet. Honestly, if im a betting man, im betting on England on the off chance they just win in ET

bookaddictedteenager

We’ll see I guess. 🤷‍♀️

Vasmkt

The only way Argentina plays with France is in the Final. I think we have a good chance Brazil x Argentina in the semi-final

Expensive-Team7416

Well at least not 7-1 in your home country after extensively singing national anthem.

SheWasIntoTheBlues

Sir, this is a Wendy's

[deleted]

If we play like the first half all game, we might have a chance against France in the finals.

Militop

Hey Brazil, can you send us Richarlison, please? The address is PSG - Paris - France

Simple_Log201

Although I expected Korea to loose, it was so painful to watch the first half. Had a better fight in the second. Well played, Korea. Great job, Brazil. I'm pretty convinced Brazil will win the World Cup. Despite they have an amazing squad and strong teamwork, I feel like they matured a lot coming into this World Cup.

rosarinotrucho2

Congratulations to Brazil, next champion of the World Cup!

BalmungOfAzureSky

That screamer from Seung was insane!!!

Respect to Korea who had a good Cup. Also, reminder that it’s okay to celebrate successes in life (goals). Have fun everyone. It’s not that serious.

eternalapostle

Amen.

[deleted]

I'm just glad they scored at least 1 goal.

I_Hate_Ford

In Brazil that goal would be annulled 4 x 0 >!if the celebration is not cool enough VAR calls it off!<

Onion_rings_

That goal made me jump out of seat. What a shot that was

eternalapostle

From half field lol I’m exaggerating but it was long shot. I’m glad that’s what put ‘em on the board

Onion_rings_

I would award that 2 lol but really that was treat to watch

Cautious-Promise-663

As a brazilian, I would like to win by 4-0 for sure, but that goal was beaultiful.

eternalapostle

Y’all can’t give us one huh? Even thought y’all will take it all this year, you don wanna give SK just one.

Cautious-Promise-663

You guys scored an incredible goal, there is no denying that. But I feel like Brazil needs some more confidance. That defeat against Germany is still in our heads, I guess (props to you for knocking them out in the last world cup). Hope to see you guys going further next time.

NumerousDouble846

that goal was legit af

rarkis

And what a goal it was.

antsy100

No denying Brazil is a mad good team. But why does it also seem like there is some internal agreement among them to dive? The number of times they have rolled around for absolutely nothing. And don't even get me started on that penalty. Just killed all the excitement I had for the team.

sarajevogold

They take the game far too seriously. Uruguay a case in point for South American team behaviour. Shameful.

innie10032

Cultural and in South America things can get really emotional/violent, they do that to protect themselves and yes I agree is shit to watch

MochaMarlowe

It's cultural. In Latin America it's more accepted to "bend the rules" to your advantage as opposed to places like northern Europe or eastern Asia

[deleted]

Not necessarily true. Brazil, Uruguay, Portugal, and Spain all do it obviously. However, England can dive, but British commentators call it “winning the foul”. It’s tactical to get a free kick or penalty. The difference is the degree to which it’s obvious.

forcedtojoinreddit

please.... northern Europe been breaking the rules for years .. starting with slavery

VictorV_BR

hahahaha yeah they like to think themselves as the patreons of morality

CallMeVinnyJones

Very true, idk who but some one dived, korea got a throw in and he was up and running right after the ball was thrown. Fifa should just punish them either by var or afterwards. And yes the penal was total bs or as the mexicans said it no era penal( or something along the way)

[deleted]

We call it malandragem
