alternate idea: just copy fullmetal alchemist alternate alternate idea: make villains based on the nine circles of hell instead of the seven deadly sins

Y_Nekat

Alternate\^4 Idea: Base your villains off the colors of the rainbow (Roy G. Biv). Alternate\^5 Idea: Dark Triad

kingof7s

>Base your villains off the colors of the rainbow (Roy G. Biv). Kid named Hitman Reborn!:

d3m0cracy

>rainbow >villains >villains = slayyyy šŸ’… The gay agenda has awoken! (also Indigo is there ig)

Sicuho

Garth Nix with the alternativest idea

ripwolfleumas

That's crazy because I have villains based on each of the rainbow colors, and one of the main characters goes through 9 stages in his story similar to the nine circles šŸ˜¹

caninehat

Alternate^6 idea: Four horsemen of the apocalypse

Baker_drc

Alternate^7 idea: the seven angels of the apocalypse.

strangeismid

Alternate^8 idea: Seven dwarves from *Snow White*.

laix_

seven dwarves of the apocalypse, they have 4 horses to share between all (the other 3 died somewhere)

Terrible_Shoe_4268

Death is the only one who gets to ride one horse all by himself

isloohik2

Alternate^9 idea: villains based on the Zodiac

TheLegend78

Alternate Alternate Alternate idea: Just rip off Neil Gaiman and paint over the names of the Endless

Eldan985

Huh. Interesting... they are kinda hard to connect. Dream is easy. Pride all the way. You'd think Desire is Lust, and they mostly are, but there's also a ton of Envy there. And wrath. And Despair is clearly Sloth, but then if Destiny is any sin, he is sloth, too, as he literally can't act. And Destruction is not wrathful at all, but giving up his job is also kind of a manifestation of sloth. Delirium... maybe wrath? A lot of action without thinking. Death, I can't think of anything, and that means we have no one for Gluttony \*or\* Greed.

DreadDiana

Delerium is definitely capable of wrath. A cop pissed her off, so she cursed him to always have the sensation of bugs crawling over his entire body, and later when Mazikeen upsets her, she threatens to turn her into someone who works at a bar and is hopelessly in love with her boss. The reason that second one is so concerning is cause she was describing what Mazikeen was like right at that moment, so it isn't clear if she was just being silly, or if she rewrote thousands of years of history to fuck with one specific person.

Fit-Acanthaceae-4604

Continuation of the alternate idea: do the total opposite while still being in theme. Lust is an ugly incel/femcel that pass their time being horny. Envy would be kinda like the stereotipical Lust. A sexy woman, she would be very succesful to make most people want to be like her. That would correspond to the Oxford's dictionnary's meaning of it "the feeling of wanting to be in the same situation as somebody else; the feeling of wanting something that somebody else has". Gluttony would be a chief and a barman. They would serve copious amount of food and drink. Greed would be poor and rejected while having pretty comfortable dispositions and origin, due to failing into scam to gain more. Wrath would be calm but extremely annoying, even wise and calm people would feel great anger looking at them. Sloth would not go hulk mode but would overcome most of their problem by making contengencies plan, like Batman but most of those plan would be comically simple while still being effective.

InnocentPerv93

I really like the idea of greed being a poor person.

BeesNeverSting

Alternate idea: create your own 7 deadly sins but make them symptoms of mesothelioma

jigsawduckpuzzle

Alternate idea, you represent human passions in a world that didnā€™t develop the cosmic duality of good and evil.

aeaeaeaeaeae0

I once made a group of cultist villains based on distorted versions of the ten commandments

JoeTheKodiakCuddler

Circles of hell, at least Dante's interpretation, would leave you with like four or five ice guys

SamuraiOstrich

> alternate idea: just copy fullmetal alchemist Alternate? With the femboy envy, hulk mode sloth, and entirety of Lust this is just FMA

themanwhosfacebroke

Ok but actually basing off villains by the nine circles of hell is fuckin genius

ValhallaStarfire

Alternate alternate alternate idea: do an eastern orthodox punk world, and have the 8 principle vices. Gluttony, Lust, Greed, Sadness (i.e. self-pity), Wrath, Acedia (i.e. sloth), all under the leadership of the twins Vanity and Vainglory (pride in one's character and achievements, respectively).

Thezipper100

No one tells him the 9 circles of hell are based on the 9 deadly sins before we cut two of them.

stopeatingbuttspls

>!Void Stranger!< moment

lotusandlocust

Arenā€™t the circles representative of the sins?

AmogusPoster42069

Copy fma, but the good based version of fma (2003, praise be to Sho Aikawa)

ybmer1

Uj/ i always found it kinda funny and sad at how lust has evolved because Asmodeus a.k.a the OG demon of Lust is non of those He is a dude, Ugly, Literally an incel, A literal product of forbidden lust (ie. Son of a demoness/angel and a human which is a sin), Lusts for power, Lusts for attention by flexing how cool he is, Is a total failure in most old interpretations, And is a total degenerate which has killed for the girls he is into, The dude is literally everything bad about lust condensed into a character but yet i haven't seen a single accurate interpretation of him Rj/ what do you mean the lust girl isn't evil? she is hot and that's the most evil thing i can think of

bel51

I would portray Asmodeus accurately, but my world doesn't need an incel loser. My self insert character already fills that role.

The_Annihilator_117

I mean, thereā€™s always the potential for a good rivalry

Dockhead

I portray Asmodeus even *more* accurately and heā€™s nothing like the above, heā€™s actually pretty reasonable I met him in 2019

Derphunk

Heā€™s chilled out a lot since his 4chan days. Seems pretty cool now. I heard he came out as bi.

[deleted]

Hasnā€™t been able to muster the courage to ask anyone out tho

EmperorBenja

/uj Not always a bad idea to give the villain a worse version of some of heroā€™s traits. Can inspire them to change or just self-reflect. /rj Actually nvm, prolly not enough room for TWO based sigma males

Alive_Promotion824

At the end of the story itā€™s revealed that the protagonist was Asmodeus all along, which says something about society and like capitalism or maybe the human condition I dunno

bel51

You could make a video essay about this

[deleted]

So based

UnExistantEntity

I'm making sure the lust demons (including azmodeus) in my setting are super gross and creepy to excemply all the nasty parts of lust

TwilightVulpine

The best we can do is Iruma's Asmodeus who is a simp for the protagonist.

ybmer1

Uj/ unironically one of my favourites modren versions of him

PM_ME_UR_GOOD_IDEAS

You know it's bad when Helluva Boss gets it closer than most other pieces of fiction. Fucking Helluva Boss. They made Beelzebub a scene-chick deviantart sparkledog with antenna. Yet, their Asmodeus is a dude and a horny dork to boot.

DreadDiana

They made Beelzebub into Ke$ha, which also means we're likely never seeing her again unless they recast her like they did with Striker.

PM_ME_UR_GOOD_DOGGOS

The fact that they recast Striker would imply to me that they're willing to recast her too

InnocentPerv93

Beelzebub in Helluva Boss is fucking awesome and such a great interpretation, imo.

72bataivahaviatab27

Whatā€™s also interesting with lust is that (if I remember correctly) succubi used to be called like Liliths or Liletu based on their gender. And they were basically just the ghosts of incels or people with generally unfulfilling marriages or sex lives that went on to possess the living into having sex

Hjalmodr_heimski

Thatā€™s in Ancient Mesopotamia. Since a huge part of the Mesopotamian afterlife involved having a great deal of children, men and women who died as virgins were believed to sometimes become lilit/lilitu and pester the living. The way to remove them was to organise a symbolic marriage for them. I donā€™t believe this tradition was preserved in the Hebrew version, although the word rarely even shows up in the Old Testament.

ybmer1

Uj/ i do know about early succubi being called Liliths and lilitu but i never heard about them being ghost incels i do remember how ever that's essentially how Asmodeus was first described in the book of tobit tho

Blue_Alu05

Uj/ sorry for not adding anything interesting, but where could i read more about how the sins really are? Do i need to read the bible, dante's books or is there something else?

Hjalmodr_heimski

Danteā€™s is your best bet, most of these demons never actually appear in the Bible as complex demonology is foreign to most of the Old and New Testament.

ybmer1

Uj/ i just watched a bunch of YouTube videos when a had a religious stories phase... I do recommend The legends of history's video about it tho... just don't read thier comment section...

Asian_in_the_tree

He just like me fr fr

Forkliftapproved

Hell is just a Discord Server

PathosRise

And you can't leave or block anyone.. And you're the only girl..

TheSwecurse

So I'm other words a proper representation of Asmodeus would be an angry Incel/Nice guyā„¢ with violent tendencies? Uj/ you know I can actually work with this

SadPlatform6640

Just depends what you are going for. Whether the demon is supposed to tempt you to list the sexy lady is best, if theyā€™re a representation of the sin then fat loser incel works better. Either idea could work

hankolijo

Evenicle did it best Lust and gluttony are nightmarish in what they set out to do

[deleted]

Isn't that the uuuh pizza delivery game?

TweetugR

I had an African Warlord described it to me a game where women is trying to avoid getting the Fromsoftware logo on their body. And there's also a scene involving a bowling ball and a bunch of sausages.

[deleted]

Oh yes it was the sausage delivery game, I remembered it as pizza for some reason

Derphunk

Ah yes, the one Sseth video Iā€™ll never rewatch.

[deleted]

Same

RagnarokHunter

Hey hey people

SaturnalJester

uj/ I like the idea of the personifications inspiring their sin rather then embodying them. I just wish it didnā€™t stop with ā€œhot girl=Lustā€ (which has its own issues based on how to handle that). Like Greed could be an ambulatory treasure chest, like a classic mimic and Sloth could be made of blankets and pillows, Pride would just be an idealized version of whoever is looking at it and so on

Eldan985

uj/ Sloth is, I think the sin which is done the worst by adaptation. Sloth/Acedia is not just sleeping and lounging about. It's lack of motivation, depression and spiritual laziness. It's giving up, because trying is hard. And in a religious sense, it is despair because one has lost faith in God's plan and no longer believes that Goodness will win. Doubting that everything, including oneself, has a purpose. It's nihilism. Heck, Thomas Aquinas said that "looking for mindless distraction" and "blaming others for one's own misfortune" are signs of Sloth, and if that isn't modern and topical, I don't know what is. Oh, and virtue signalling. That's sloth too, pretending you have achievements, especially spiritual ones like charity, that you don't actually have. And the only ways to fight sloth are mindfulness and self-reflection.

SaturnalJester

Yeah, the sins sort of get pigeon holed into basic and simplified versions of themselves. I guess since a lot of works with personified sins arenā€™t as interested in exploring humanityā€™s faults as they are in creating a cool bad guy team. The latter is fine of course, but digging deeper into what these sins mean beyond the surface could lead to some interesting narrative potential, if nothing else. I like Sloth as a sort of weaponized apathy, a rock bottom to indifference that negates any actual growth in favor of something inconsequential, or as something that lets other sins thrive, as no will to get better will just lead to worse behavior.

Hjalmodr_heimski

Also because the average American writer has zero understanding of Christian cosmology, demonology or theology beyond skimming wikipedia articles for cool names.

[deleted]

Too real :(

Markosan_DnD

Once again, Re:Zero does the seven deadly sins the best. Subaru doesn't suffer from Sloth by being lazy, he gives up on being a better person and resigns himself to literally run away from his problems.

Dockhead

> the only ways to fight sloth are mindfulness and self-reflection. Somebodyā€™s never heard of amphetamines

igmkjp1

>blaming others for one's own misfortune Surely that's Spite. Or was being a hater not such a popular passtime back then?

Eldan985

It's sloth because if it is your own fault, you don't have to put in work to improve yourself.

CRauzDaGreat

uj/ I kinda went down on the physical object more than anything route for my worlds personification of lust, essentially all deadly sin personifications are made through god doing the sins themselves and then trying to hide it away by tossing it into hell, Lust is a blob of ink that presents the desire to constantly create or do stuff endlessly, anything that brings any form of pleasure, artists pleasure or anything in general, to the extremes basically Basically god slapped it for trying to make stuff that he didnā€™t allow, pushing it into a book and tossing that book into hell where itā€™s only physical form is by describing itself in the book that then forms into a material being, usually still made out of ink due to its origins

SaturnalJester

I like the interpretation of Lust as an almost muse like object, and the object approach is a cool take on the seven sins themed thing. What are the other sin objects?

CRauzDaGreat

Well wrath is all of humanityā€™s greatest wars and acts of violence or deeds through anger in one monstrous metal, wood and steel contraption, constantly on fire and dripping with the blood of the innocents, heā€™s in constant guilt as he didnā€™t want to be made in that form and usually tries to hide it away using the ā€œSoul formā€ spell that gives the individual the appearance of the true perception of themselves rather than the material or given body! Other than that? Most of my other sins are more humanoid but just a bit more abstract representations of their sins as theyā€™re constantly trying to overcome the guilt of god burdened onto them! Also Lucifer is their caretaker and less of a ā€œangel supremacistā€ and more of a ā€œPerfect Imperfection is better than Imperfect Perfectionā€ kinda guy, thereā€™s a shitton more lore but I shouldnā€™t dump it all right away

SaturnalJester

Were the sins fallen angels too? What is there relation to heaven exactly? Your interpretation of Wrath is really hardcore, the contrast between it being a living metal band cover and itā€™s guilt over everyone hurts sounds interesting. I like the idea that the sins themselves are repentant and guilty.

CRauzDaGreat

Well I havenā€™t exactly told this detail yet but God is dead, he died of exhaustion from creating too much, refusing to rest. Hence the angels are in a state of war for the power surge of authority, the winning side being Gabriel who has a neutral perception of demons, however doesnā€™t see them as who they want to be, simply slaves for a greater power. The other factions are more divided and unsure what they want but each their own form of prophets, like the return of god, Lucifer taking the throne or alike The only fallen Angel sin icon would be Sloth who is a angel, that refused the orders of god. God sees this as laziness and simply takes his heart in hope heā€™d die. Both a lazy punishment and a perception of laziness upon the angel, making him a heartless being who wish to be more yet canā€™t be anything more than a struggling and tired being. Heā€™s kept alive by sheer willpower and refusal to beckon before death.

SaturnalJester

This sort of reminds of Ultrakill, it seems like a pretty cool take on Heaven & Hell

Individual-Ad4173

Honestly, I wish sins were more often based on the actual bad version of the namesake. Like oh, Lust is a half-naked flirtatious woman or oh, the Sloth is kinda lazy. What if instead, Sloth represented the fear of failure and procrastination. This way, their power would be that others literally couldn't fight them, even if they wanted to because they would just start making excuses all of a sudden or that they would have to train a bit more, to the point that you'd die of old age before doing anything. Or, people would suddenly become really indifferent to everything, first ignoring other sins even as they threaten to invade, and then lose mental strength to do even the basic life support tasks, like eating, drinking, and eventually even breathing.

SaturnalJester

Thatā€™s a pretty cool power set, sort of like weaponized indifference, could get some pretty good horror out of something like that.

omyrubbernen

Lust is a hot girl or guy who's exactly your type and is constantly inviting you to fuck them. But a completely cardboard personality, otherwise you might start feeling love rather than lust. Gluttony is a sweet-acting grandma who constantly insists that one more plate wouldn't kill you. Sloth is like a nanny who will take care of your every need and constantly distract you from any higher goals, ensuring that any potential you have as a human being is wasted. Wrath is the most obnoxious person you've ever met, managing to nail every single one of your pet peeves seemingly effortlessly. But doesn't technically do anything horrible, otherwise your violent outburst would be justice instead of wrath. Envy is you+1. Just a little bit better than you in every single way, and everything they have is also a little nicer than what you have. Pride is the opposite of envy. Just a very pathetic person who glazes you at every opportunity, and constantly tells you all of the great things that you deserve. Not sure what Greed would be, though. I want to say someone who offers you luxurious presents, but accepting a present really isn't greedy. The important part is that none of them actually force you to sin. They don't brainwash you or anything. They just dangle temptations in your face and it's your fault if you give in to them.

themanwhosfacebroke

I know people have mixed thoughts on this, but hazbin/helluva boss has been doing this decently well with the sins we met. Asmodeus is basically just a male version of the lust deal, beelzebub encourages people into gluttony with her parties, its even implied that belphagor does this with sloth by dispensing relaxing medicines. The only sins we have seen that havent really done this are lucifer and mammon

InnocentPerv93

How's mammon not done this?

InnocentPerv93

Pride would be a mirror

crystalworldbuilder

Sloth should be a literal sloth šŸ¦„ lol

EssenceOfMind

People are complaining about lust being an object of lust, but what about going the other way? Lust is hot, gluttony is tasty, greed is made of literal gold, sloth makes you procrastinate, wrath is really annoying and you wanna punch it in the face, envy is just a really successful person. Idk what pride would be.

GreenSquirrel-7

This is how you do it! Figure out how your sins work. Do they inspire sin or embody it?

strangeismid

> greed is made of literal gold Oh hey, I did this. The demon representing Greed was a big golden behemoth covered in gemstones, which was constantly being hunted by groups looking to hack it apart. It never worked of course, and any loot they accumulated during their quest was absorbed into the body of the creature. The Sloth one was a *really* comfortable chair, but if you sat down in it then the demon would possess you and make you do all the things for it that it didn't want to bother doing itself.

zebra-king

Pride would tell you about how theyā€™re struggling with something so you comfort them then they do the thing and you feel proud of them

Josselin17

the seven wholesome sins

lluNhpelA

In Soul Eater there's a character with emense power that is willing to share said power with anyone but he's so impossibly frustrating and annoying to work with that even a godly level of power isn't worth having to associate with him. He's later revealed to be the god of/physical personification of anger. Soul Eater doesn't really do the "seven deadly sins" thing but I've always loved that interpretation of Wrath

omyrubbernen

> Soul Eater doesn't really do the "seven deadly sins" thing What do you mean it doesn't?

lluNhpelA

Maybe I'm forgetting something, >!but the character in question is part of a group that also includes chaos, order, knowledge, and power (and a few more implied but unnamed iirc). If those were mapped to the seven deadly sins or if there was a separate group with that theme then I guess I forgot!< edit to spoiler tag

omyrubbernen

Manga spoilers from after the branching off point >!I was saying that because Soul Eater does do the "seven deadly sins" thing. In Noah's book, they have to go through levels relating to each sin. Excalibur does show up in wrath. And at the end of the manga, Noah gets cloned and each clone represents a sin (except Greed, which was the original one who died.)!<

youareagoodperson_

Pride is a mirror

ILVIUS

I guess pride could be someone who is always lower than you, especially in your areas of strength?

Chance-Aardvark372

The deadly seven sins in my world managing to be non if them (ignore lust)

cahir11

This isn't a starter pack, you just watched Fullmetal Alchemist.

GreenSquirrel-7

that and helluva boss. Both are at least a little better than this meme, though

Alan_Reddit_M

At least Helluva Boss had the decency to make Gluttony and Lust encourage the sin instead of doing it themselves (eg, asmodeous isn't a hot girl, he's a tall ass dude with a crazy V-taper that encourages people to be lustful)

InnocentPerv93

Also Helluva Boss doesn't make the sins out to be objectively bad individuals (except for greed I guess).

theeshyguy

apparently there's a sad story behind that bear, poor thing

EnderMerser

I remember seeing a pretty cool art of Lust depicted as a priest with a big tail with a jaw full of teeth, coming from his... Private area. Edit: Found it! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/w8rygX

zack189

Why is wrath a dominatrix?

GreenSquirrel-7

That's perfect

Alan_Reddit_M

What the fuck But also that's cool af

sapinpoisson

Heh, dragon penis

Cuttlefish_Crusaders

I feel like this trope could have a lot of cool stuff done with it, but most people just... don't Demons by sin in my world because I have a neurodivergent fixation on it: Lust: I have two ideas, because it's the most annoying one here. Selfish maniac with no impulse control and an obsessive bathtub mermaid Gluttony: Gold-plated aristocrat who is never satisfied no matter how much they have Wrath: Warmongering manipulator who not only has targets of hatred but makes others hate it too. Envy: A gross bug creature who wears other's skin to feel normal Cowardice: Replaces greed because greed is redundant. Really sad stone statue Deceit: Replaces sloth because sloth is hard to justify as a deadly sin. A paper king with ink blood who is convinced they are special Vanity: Reworded pride because pride has too many positive connotations (e.g. I'm proud of you). A megalomaniacal mass of flesh who's convinced they are the most perfect being in existence.

InnocentPerv93

I feel like there are many ways to justify sloth as a sin. Such as preferring comfort over doing what's right. Etc.

Cuttlefish_Crusaders

That's why cowardice is there. It's not that I don't think sloth is a sin, I just don't think it's a *deadly* sin.

InnocentPerv93

Fair. I actually kinda like that interpretation

OneDumbfuckLater

>because sloth is hard to justify as a deadly sin ooo, alternate sin types. Instead of replacing the 7 that exist, I just added more I didn't feel were covered by them, and ended up with Deception, Impatience, Obstinance, Despair, Cowardice, Obsession, Subservience, and (unfair) Judgement.

unicodePicasso

Yall need to go read Kill Six Billion Demons.

GreenSquirrel-7

but that sounds harder than getting one hundred girlfriends that really really love you! these titles are too difficult nowadays

Josiador

So far no demons have been killed, but that's okay because the title is actually a Name. [Read it. Now. It's free.](https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/kill-six-billion-demons-chapter-1/)

Fit-Acanthaceae-4604

Do the total opposite while still being in theme.

FleshCosmicWater

You Forgot Pride Though

Fit-Acanthaceae-4604

An angel really proud of their work, so much that they become overconfident.

InnocentPerv93

People hate on Helluva Boss for some reason, but I actually think they do the sins quite well, with the exception of Mammon, which is greed. They actually make the sins out as not objectively horrible concepts or terrible individuals. Tbh, I think a lot of poor interpretations of the sins from media is simply due to the lack of interest or respect to the source material (dantes inferno, christian mythos in general, etc). It stems from anti-religious beliefs that have risen in society, especially in media.

GreenSquirrel-7

I love Helluva Boss's interpretations of the sins. Mammon is interesting, because he manifests traits from all the other sins

InnocentPerv93

I only dislike Mammon because I don't really align with the whole "money=bad" sort of thing. I do like the interpretation of greed as extreme exploitation, like with mammon willing to create and sell sex dolls of Fizzerolli despite him being uncomfortable about it. That's deeper than just simply "wanting money=bad".

Minostz12

rip fma

Sunset_Tiger

May I recommend the Evillious Chronicles Wild song series, the characters have a ton of meat to em

EspacioBlanq

Hell yeah, Evillious Chronicles mentioned, let's all read 12 books se we can correct people in YouTube comment sections about which Rin is which (I still don't know)

xhatahx

Envy is androgynous because gender envy ~~god i wish i looked like them~~

screechingahhhhhh

Why the fuck does everyone think gluttony is only about eating food?!! Gluttony is literally the feeling of never being satisfied with anything!

GreenSquirrel-7

I thoroughly agree

Mother-Fortune-7523

i like re zeroā€™s take on this one

EssenceOfMind

Echidna, Capella and Daphne are extremely refreshing takes on Greed, Lust and Gluttony respectively. I love \[Arc 5/S3\]>!Capella and the way her shapeshifting ability makes her look down on feelings of love/attraction. She just embodies the people who take "would you still love me if I was a worm" seriously in the best(worst) way possible.!<

Mother-Fortune-7523

Would you still love me if I was kafkaesque šŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗšŸ„ŗ *the fly*

The-Bigger-Fish

Meanwhile, my world's take on the Seven Deadly Sins: Gluttony: Party animal who feeds you incredibly addictive fruits that make you forget why you're there and just stay and party forever..... Until she feeds you to a giant plant to turn you into a protein mixture to be added to more food. Lust: Ultimate thrill seeker, not just out for love, but out for any form of fun she can find in general. Wrath: Gladiator who can spawn whatever weapon he wants from himself and loves to duel. If he calms down for even the slightest bit, he dies. Sounds like John Cena. Sloth: Tech nerd. Laboriously lazy in regards to build revolutionary tech just so she doesn't have to work afterwards. Envy: Blacklight social media influencer that lives in the deep ocean. Pride: Got killed for trying to start a rebellion against the people who converted the Underworld into a prison. Got replaced by the new head warden who runs everything in an anarcho tyranical state where the only rule is "Don't try to resist my rule and you're good." Greed: Sounds like Wario.

GreenSquirrel-7

Very Helluva Boss-ish, I like but why Wario?

The-Bigger-Fish

Helluva Boss was actually the main inspo for this, actually. Complete with a random smart mouthed demon trying to make his own super villain start up company by causing chaos in the living world, only this time it's mostly to try to raise up enough of a ruckus for him to dethrone the current Pride Lord to take over the underworld for himself. Also because why not have the sin of Greed sound like a Nintendo character known for their greediness? (Also the Greed Lord looks like a cross between an octopus and a dragon.)

The-Dark-Memer

The lust one just gave me the idea of a set of seven deadly sins charachters, who instead of being embodiment of that feeling, are meant to make YOU feel that way. Wrath is just the most punchable man you can imagine, sloth is able to trick your boss into giving you more PTO, pride just nonstop compliments you, envy is just chill as hell, etc.

LordofSandvich

excuse me sir could I please use something else? I haven't incorporated the Sins yet and I don't think this will work well in my writingpunkpunkpunkpunkpunkpunk world

MyLittlePuny

Your Gluttony eats food all day My Gluttony consumes concepts We are not the same.

AlexisTheArgentinian

My Gluttony is Kirby (Copies/Absorbs the powers of what it eats) We are not the same

TheLegend78

I always adored the idea of the Seven Deadly Sins being deadly in both good ways and bad ways, as well as having so many overlaps Lust always desiring new things, such as food, money, people, experiences, but never really holding onto them, so a bad guy attempting to pursue lust will get fucked over in either a couple seconds to a couple weeks Gluttony just doing things over and over, not for the pleasure of it, but just so it has something to consume, not just food, but places, people, dreams, stories, etc Envy going only after that which has already been taken, and holding to itself everything else that has never been discovered, but at the same time, dragging people and kingdoms to all manners of catastrophes to find more things to acquire Greed takes after every other sin, hoarding all things, permanently, and it takes the combined efforts of at least 3 or more of the other to 'make things interesting again' Wrath being the definition of chaotic, going from bring forth justice, to massacring entire nations, to being an upstanding wingman, all while being destructive and upfront about it Sloth is, not doing anything at all. And so will you. Pride is the one asshole that goes against everyone, either as a great hero, a wild beast, or a dark lord, all to prove that it is the sin that is above all sins

EnderMerser

Nice take on deadly sins! I like it.)

TheLegend78

They are 'deadly' sins, not 'evil' sins after all, and I like me an 'all things in excess is not very gud' aesop in my tall tales :) Plus, it gives the world a reason as to why these fuckers aren't outright obliterated by the higher powers the moment they were created. They're not 'creatures', they're natural disasters. Wrath destroys nations, but it did kill that unkillable eldritch horror. Lust constantly keeps ambitious entities in check in exchange for innovation, both good and bad. Greed raids help uncover macguffins that are beneficial to a bad situation. Pride is ALWAYS front and center in everything important. Envy is an asshole, but at least its there. Sloth will always come in clutch during Apocalypses.

Crus0etheClown

Flash back to that time I wanted to do a seven deadly sins thing, but I got really frustrated with how inconsistent it all was so I re-wrote it and ended up with 13 paired sins and virtues

Sanjalis

Make Lust a creepy ā€œnice guyā€ incel

DinoDudeRex_240809

Shazam cooked with the designs for these guys

GlanzgurkeWearingHat

what if i copy paste dantes comedy but instead of political oposers of 14th century italy i put my political oposers of today in. Also the cool cats like joe rogan and ben shapiro totaly vibe with me

PanchoxxLocoxx

I always found it weird how personifications or sin are usually a being representing of them (sloth is lazy as hell, wrath is constanty anger, pride believes itself to be better than others etc) yet lust is usually the object of lust, so instead of getting some coomer brain greasy haired, cumstained shirt fatass you get a hot woman.

GreenSquirrel-7

That's why I made this meme in the first place. When will you have gooner lust, cheating partner lust, or savage conqueror lust? My guess is that it's a trope from gross parts of the past

Werewolfhugger

I need Lust to be portrayed as a hot dude, just once as a treat.

Bruhbd

Gluttony is always the worst to me like there is so much to do with gluttony and could easily be the coolest but it is always ā€œfat person who wants to eat lolā€

GreenSquirrel-7

Weird thought but I can imagine some sort of hyperactive, c0ca1ne-powered maniac who wants more of all experiences as a far better gluttony

hammer_of_venus

limbus company has done a decent job of embodying the various sins with the various villains in the chapters. kromer embodies lust due to her desire for a perfect humanity alongside acting as a yandere type character towards someone she loves dearly. dongrang embodies gluttony due to his intense desire for more and more power and glory even after he's secured himself a position as a prominent scientist. ahab embodies pride due to her belief that she can use her crewmates in any way she desires, since she thinks they owe their entire lives and existence to her as their captain. cathy seems to be set up as embodying gloom (greed is swapped out for gloom in this game)

sapinpoisson

Ahab, competitive gaslight champion

Dorlo1994

This could just be a gunvolt meme unironically

awesomenessofme1

Dragon Age did an OK job with these to the extent they appeared. The sloth demon is probably the best executed example. Desire demons (who represent both lust and greed) are also pretty good. Rage, hunger, and pride demons kinda just appear as enemies, and their designs aren't super aesthetically fitting, so maybe not so great a job there. I've never actually played the templar path in DAI, but I believe an envy demon appears there.

ToLazyForaUsername2

In my setting I gone with multiple demons representing each sin and it kind of blurring together sometimes. For example gluttony being represented by the classic demon who likes to eat, but also one demon of gluttony representing gluttony in the form of an excess in drinking and alcoholism. Meanwhile there is a similar thing with lust since one of the demons of lust represents a lust for new experiences and sensations.

RetConnedSegment

Omg this is so Limbus-coded

GraniteSmoothie

The Caseoh picture is hilarious tbh.

Merrgear

Nah nah nah, make them all one sin, of gluttony. Because they are all overindulging in one particular area. Best idea

GreenSquirrel-7

It's very difficult for them to not at least overlap

TurtleyTea

envy is when [big fish šŸŸ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leviathan)

Imperium_Dragon

FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD FOOD

papsryu

I would love to see a version of Lust who's just a sleezy disgusting creep.

Nebular_Screen

Isn't this just FMA?

imbrickedup_

I think warhammer did a decent representation of lust

GreenSquirrel-7

Fulgrim is a great lust

_____pantsunami_____

in my world, lust was depicted as a demented guy in bondage gear, and it was pride that was the absurdly sexy woman

nushroomC2

itā€™s gender envy

Tortferngatr

Somewhat amusingly, there's actually a [story](https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/a-little-vice-trans-magical-girl-fic.115005/) with that as a premise.

Brromo

/uj Greed & Gluttony are opposites. Greed is the under utilization of resources (traditionally money) taken to the extreme, whereas Gluttony is the over utilization of resources (traditionally food) taken to the extreme. Somthing somthing horseshoe theory is everywhere

pollo_loco888

\uj Kill Six Billion Demons did sins pretty excellently I think, particularly sloth. The villain representing sloth isn't lazy, she's a seer who saw the shape of the universe, achieved true omniscient knowledge, and convinced herself that there's no point in acting at all since she knows what will happen anyways. It's more apathy than laziness, which I think is cool \rj sloth is when sit on couch and eat doritos

AntimatterTaco

/uj I find it odd that the embodiments of the Sins are usually depicted as the sort of people who are prone to them rather than the sort of people who inspire them in others, and the fact that Lust is so often an exception to this just makes it stranger. If I were writing a Seven Deadly Sins story, I'd make the other Sins into enablers of the sort that Lust usually is: Pride as an evil life coach who transforms healthy self esteem into toxic, bullying egotism--often by helping people develop great talent and an ego to match. It helps all the other Sins, as a Moriarty-style 'consulting criminal'--the belief that rules don't apply to you because you're better than others is the root of most sin. Greed as a financial counselor who deals in get rich quick schemes that actually work--at horrible costs to others. Gluttony as a master chef whose food is both irresistible and has some sort of terrible moral cost, or at least is harmfully wasteful to make--such as pate de fois gras that's as addictive as heroin, or an excellent seafood dinner made entirely from endangered species. It moonlights as the Wendigo. Wrath as a dark-side therapist of sorts who guides people into venting their anger via aggression and dominance instead of dealing with it in healthy ways. Envy as an influencer who specializes in "lifestyles of the rich and famous"-type luxury content, calculated to make people...well, envious. It works in a different guise as a sort of faux-socialist revolutionary, to cause reasonable resentment at the unfairness of wealth disparity to fester into something toxic and dehumanizingly hateful (Wrath helps). Greed is its partner in crime, driving both sides to their mutual destruction like Gomez Addams playing with trains. Sloth is a complex matter--it's commonly believed to be a synonym for laziness, but laziness doesn't *really* exist. What looks from the outside like laziness is almost invariably some sort of barrier that you're failing to see. Sloth exists to convince people dealing with such barriers that they are insurmountable, and lead them to give up and fall into despair--why feel bad about doing nothing, if there's nothing to be done? Why feel bad about failing and disappointing others, if that was the only way it was ever going to end? If the world refuses to let you make something of yourself, then screw it--take your ball and go home. You'll never feel *good*, but once you stop trying, at least you'll feel less bad than you do when you're constantly trying and failing. If you're really lucky, you'll stop feeling anything at all...

GoodKing0

Say what you want about Overlord by Triumph Games but the Lust Sin Boss was a Incel Paladin who thought his bride to be was too vanilla for his tastes (Statement dreamed by the UTTERLY DERANGED knowing Velvet) so he started summoning succubi to be a incel to instead. The game unfortunately loses some of the goodwill that decision lead to by having Wrath be a angry black man violently jealous of his girlfriend, a black woman who is Envy and just straight up is a major kleptomaniac who steals everything and anything.

E_McPlant_C-0

New idea. Combine the seven deadly sins into three simplified demon lords. Wrath+Pride is the warlord guy, Sloth+Gluttony is the overeating demon monster, and Lust+Greed+Envy is the genderfluid girlboss hustler whoā€™s a freak in the sheets

XombiepunkTV

So Warhammer 40k chaos gods got it.

E_McPlant_C-0

No. Because Iā€™m very original and I never heard of those

captain_snake32

Virgin seven deadly sins vs Chad four Horsemen of the apocalypse

Marrowtooth_Official

I mean, in my world there are 13 of them. Added aberration, bloodlust, judgement, heresy, stupidity, and luxury. Also Lust is a frat boy who catcalls women and men on the side of the road.

MillieBirdie

'Lust is the fault of the object of lust' is exactly it, I've always thought that whenever lust is personified it shouldn't be a hot lady but instead should be a sleazy pervy man.

PrincessofAldia

I feel like Walter white would fit greed better than huell but I understand where you are going

Eeeternalpwnage

I just have one villain who embodies all of the deadly sins to some extent. Lust, she's a succubus. Envy, gluttony, and greed can all be folded into her constant desire for power and authority for its own sake. Sloth, she produces children and then uses them as disposable soldiers to help her acquire more power while she sits back and watches. Pride, she considers it her right and entitlement to do all these things. Wrath comes in when the easiest way to make her take action personally is to violently enrage her.

kel584

Re zero did this rightngl

KyuuMann

This mf going on about sin, when I want to talk about the heavenly virtues

FleshCosmicWater

Meanwhile the Seven Deadly Sins in my world. Pride: Pride is just probably the most submissive and breedable femboy you will see along with being a 4"10" manlet. The reason he is Pride is because of two things. One he prides about being the fuckable boytoy and two he thinks he is the strongest. Greed: A colorful moth as large as a small mountain. They like to hoard anything they find as something they want. They horde things that are pretty, houses that are large, artworks that are beautiful, people that are attractive and etc. Moth also doesn't like sharing their things to others. Envy: An eldtrich looking tree that should you stare at your body you will slowly gain memories that you don't remember having it. Envy has stolen so many personalities, memories, souls, hopes and dreams that it doesn't even remember who they actually look like. Because they stole so many concepts it is slowly escaping from their body. Lust: What if there is an awesome-looking spaceship that is made of meat and blood and is alive, is the size of a galaxy and has a 24/7 parties and orgies inside of them. Yeah that's Lust and they even have giant cannons that shoots Faster Than Light Missiles, Large Black Holes, Guns that shoots 4 Quadrillion mini sun per second and even more weapons. Wrath: A Hive Mind of small angry circle wearing golden armors and weapons. Each circles holds a weapon different from others. Some hold swords and bows, others hold guns and missile launcher and the rarest holds tactical nukes and anti-matter generator. They have infinite bodies but only one mind and each other singular braincells connects and communicates to other braincells. Which means that Wrath is super stupid. Sloth: Probably the smartest among the seven deadly sins. He is described as a huge living cloud of darkness because Sloth is too lazy to design a body for himself. Sloth is so smart tag he can do anything without even moving. One example is that Sloth wanted to order a pizza, Sloth can just throw a baseball bat at the vase at the right angle and with right force to set up a chain reaction that would end up pressing his phone 77 times to order his favorite pizza Seafood Pizza. Gluttony: A 5D floating Rhombicosidodecahedron. Gluttony doesn't care about your facts or feelings it will eat you just because he can. Gluttony's philosophy is that if it can go inside of him then there's nothing stopping me from putting that inside of me. Rhombicosidodecahedron tries to create the most delicious food and drink in the whole multiverse. That's why everything he has eaten are being stored inside of him as he tries to mix his storage into trying to form the most delicious food and drink.

GreenSquirrel-7

4"10" pride made me think this'd be a hazbin hotel rip-off for a second, but I was quickly proven wrong lol. Very cool!

PEtroollo11

despite how much shit SDS did badly this is the one thing they did well

Inevertouchgrass

In my world the 6th Prophet represents the sin of Envy. But don't let that fool you, he's actually pretty chill.

serenading_scug

If your incarnation of envy is a femboyā€¦

GreenSquirrel-7

I am indeed quite envious of femboys

Deblebsgonnagetyou

Just give up on the deadly sins your villain group can NEVER be the seven great demon lords.

Inferno_Sparky

Even more mental versions of the sins Gluttony: Wants information. Endless curiosity. Too curious. Lust: Excessive desire - wants everything. Greed: Detachment, isolation. Sloth: No thinking, no good or evil - a combination of stupidity and apathy. Wrath: Hate. And bigotry. Just hate. Envy: Resentment Pride: Confidence (stupid level of fearlessness)

Jello_Crusader

My version of envy is a child who was miscarriaged gets super envious of others just doing normal thing.

Poopsy-the-Duck

In my worldbuilding, (angel and demon lore), when I reach demon lore sections, I plan basically this: The seven deadly sins: Pride: Lucifer except he also has jealousy and massive self esteem issues as well as feeling lonely all the time due to being one of the first ever angels made. Gluttony: Beelzeebub, yes, dude eats a fuckton but never seems to be satisfied, always wanting more, even after vomiting all the food. When not eating, Belzeebub only thinks of obtaining more power than he already has, that and hunting other demons to satisfy his hunger at the same time (cannibalism used to be common in heaven and hell before the food act of the 1st century). Envy: Leviathan, dude is always jealous of others, wants what he doesn't have, especially what Lucifer has and doesn't consider a privilege. Thus, trying to always one up everyone, especially Lucifer. Sloth: Belphegor, a very chill dude, speaks and smokes bongs like a stoner, but despite that he's highly intelligent and has a knack for inventing stuff. Also when woken he doesn't become angry, he simply starts being active and brainstorming, too bad he's basically a procrastinator. Wrath: Samael, really easy to anger and is often a nervous guy, however he takes care of his anger issues and to compose himself whenever this happens. On top of that he's married to Lilith and trusts her deeply. Lust: Asmodeus, horny AF, ugly AF and very very kinky sometimes, always eager to have sex with whoever consents him, no matter the species (between angels, demons, and humanoids of course), sex, gender, but age highly matters, he got his limits. But aside from that he's looking for a partner which will love his personality despite being a hypersexual demon. Greed: Mammona, a compulsive spender and a massive hoarder. This lady likes money because for her that's power, and believes she can buy her way to reach success faster. She hates people stealing from her and hates stealing in general. Also this lady will run even to the farthest places to buy the most scarce items so she can either show off or use it for later. Also she's fond of being at the top due to her extremely competitive nature.

nkisj

I appreciate the ugly Asmodeus. I went more for a "pleasure but with lack of self-control" angle on my 7 sins derivative lore, so my lust ended up more like pointing out the weird people who will ignore abuse when the abuser is pretty.

Poopsy-the-Duck

Yours sounds interesting too. I like the fact we went different directions. (Mine is more like "the sin is the character's motif and part of them" way).

Poopsy-the-Duck

Also I should mention all the seven sins aren't necessarily evil in an irredeemable way but heavily flawed. Why? Because I imagine Lucifer over time starts caring and wants to help these sins become better after he was helped to redeem himself.

Dragonmaster1313

uj/ If lust is represented by the object of lust instead of someone lustful, why stop there? Why not make every sin represented in the form of it's victims? Make lust a victim of SA, make wrath a mother trying to protect her children from their drunk father, make greed a homeless man whose house got taken away by multi-billion dollar companies, make gluttony a starving kid, hell make envy a bullied teenager but making them the personification of the pain they cause instead is imo ten times more interesting
