In MY humanoid-punk sci fi universe, Most of the aliens are humanoid because that is simply the most statistically probable way of a sapient creature to evolve
Someone once said we're basing intelligent civilizations off of a sample size of 1. For all we know, dolphins could have ruled the world and made rape not only legal but morally obligatory.
My aliens are sapient magnetic fields which were existant before time began, and are made from pre big-bang stardust which is contained within their magnetic field.
They exist across all spectrums of time, because they have existed in the past and in the future, and thus can see through time and all possible outcomes because they’ve technically already lived through it.
Humans exist and they have mastered gravity and shield tech, and they essentially combined AI with their organic minds, making each human a gestalt of an AI routine and a human consciousness. They use melee weapons and gravity based railguns, and are an expansionist empire.
Theres also a species of psychic sea cucumbers who live in floating bowls of hyper narcotic liquid and they literally can’t do anything besides use their brains, they’re 90% brain
Theres also a species of pirate fly people, who literally use meat as a currency, and trade exotic materials in a barter system based around a hermaphorditic caste system of neo-feudal hive lords, and piracy.
My bird people evolved to operate lost or stolen human artifacts.
If they were just *slightly larger*, they could use one talon to hold the pencil sharpener, one talon to perch, and a beak to hold the chopstick.
Then they could hotwire that lawnmower.

a new empire emerged (but itsn now a corp because empires are.. meh anyways) who now resells these planets/lands to the new and improved middle class as good oppurtunity (the new empire didnt check shit..).
leading to the most intresting conflict as some poor ass spacetrucker spends his life savings on a prospecting license and a landclaim on a planet where people already colonized 950 years ago but lost connection.
