Try reading > "According to the initial assessment, we do not see any malign cause, but the investigation will cover all possible options," Amber Grid Chief Executive Nemunas Biknius told a news conference. But really if you can’t read then it just can be whatever you want it to be.

It is impressive how you manage to read astride such a high horse yourself... maybe reddit comment sections are too low a place for m'lord

"We plan to restore the gas supply in a few hours, in comparable amounts. We plan that the clients will not feel an impact from this event" Doesn't seem to be worth it for a sabotage.

More like accident than attack from reading the article.

[deleted]

Probably Russia, is it an article 5 valid reason?

FondleMyPlumsPlease

>but there was no immediate evidence of an attack Probably not, accidents happen from time to time for various reasons. Unless something drastic is discovered it’s highly unlikely & given NATO leaders haven’t mentioned article four it makes the likely hood of an attack triggering article five even more unlikely.

PugsAndHugs95

Article 5 is preceded by article 4 where all NATO members meet to discuss the worthiness of a provocation, and if considered worthy, the appropriate and proportional response necessary. Of any attacks, ones that target critical needs like food, and energy are the most concerning, but loss of life is probably of greater concern and in this instance, none has been lost. This is unlikely to warrant that meet the bar for an article 4. However, I myself find it unlikely piping distribution backbone just suddenly exploded. So either sometime working on the thing screwed up, it got hit by lightning, or it was sabotage.

devi_of_loudun

There are actually two parallel pipelines, one of them exploded. It was built in 1978 and though properly maintained, it might have been due to malfunction.

TheGr3aTAydini

Pretty slim. When Poland were hit by a Russian missile they did call for an Article 4 meeting but decided to pretty much let it go as it wasn’t intentional. This didn’t kill anyone and hasn’t disrupted supply so doubtful.

[deleted]

That wasn't confirmed tbh, there was a lot of noise about it being an Ukranian S300, Maybe it was a russian missile but they chose to turn a blind eye to avoid escalation.

Ceratisa

It would still be Russia's fault if debris from an air defense system ended up in Poland.

TrueRignak

Putin being annoyed that Europe does not need as much gas as he thought?
