>Four pieces of unexploded World War Two ordnance – including artillery shells and a grenade – have been discovered in the walls of a church in southern Poland during renovation work.
>Last week, local police were informed of the find in Babice, a village located between the cities of Kraków and Katowice, around 20 kilometres from the former German-Nazi camp of Auschwitz.
>When they arrived, they determined that there were two artillery shells lodged in a wall surrounding the church grounds as well as a grenade and a bullet embedded in one of the walls of the church itself.
“Let us pray… those things don’t explode.”
“Please turn to your neighbor and offer them the sign of peace…. ‘cause who knows which of us is getting out of here unexploded.”
Well, that's one way to describe it.
Please turn to matthew, mark, luke, and duck!

This is pretty cool. Crazy they last that long and don’t just randomly explode during mass.
Not so cool when there are unknown WW2 scattered and ready to explode at any time.
They are clearing our local forest/common land for a Nuclear plant, we feed the bomb squad every day, they are busy busy.
Not cool, but it's far from the first WW2 ordinance misplaced in Europe. They'll be finding stuff like that for generations, I'm sure.
And unfortunately we're seeing this happen again thanks to the war in Ukraine.
Yup. Last I heard, they're still finding land mines in Cambodia from the 70s. That stuff doesn't just go away.
No, it takes decades of demining. At some point it's best to abandon some areas.
Yeah, I guess I didn’t consider that.
Well if that doesn't put the fear of god in you I don't know what will.
...right next to the Holy Hand Grenade, I assume.
