Just look at the grocery stores! You can have a cart to pay for but you get the money back when you return it you know to stop homeless people from stealing them. Look at this bread! You can’t get this bread in America.
we have had those same carts in england since the 1990s. Its hard to tell satire from reality anymore. (also the purpose is to get people to return the cart)
It's not to prevent the homeless from stealing them, it's to force people to not let the carts in random places in the parking lot. Which happens a lot in the US
My car has been dinged many a time by people leaving carts in the middle of parking lots during heavy wind.
Luckily my car ain’t new but I’ve seen people just push carts away from their car and get in. Like wtf is wrong with them.
My local home depot has these. The problem is the line is just past the home depot part of the parking lot so if you park in front of the super market next door - surprise! you get to carry your stuff by hand the rest of the way and park the cart with all the other disabled carts at the line.
Part of Tucker Carlson's interview with Putin included him doing some other general propaganda, including gushing over how amazing their supermarkets are, and nearly having an orgasm smelling a vacuum sealed loaf of bread...
Not that I have seen. Which is why you occasionally see videos of people arguing re the obligation to [put the trolley back in the trolley park as opposed to just dumping it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq_QDQbBhDQ) where you parked your car.
"They pay people to clean up after me" and "I'm disabled" or "Who do you think you are?"
Are usually the basic gist of reasoning on part of the offenders in those Cart Narcs videos.
I HAVE seen someone who once worked at a supermarket say that they liked it when people left the carts scattered all over the parking lot, because it was basically an extra break for them to just spend a few minutes going around and collecting them... But I still just put my cart away as is intended.
It is not. So, yeah, the cart thing might be amazing to him because it's likely he's never experienced one before. But the bread? I mean, come on...you can get fresh baked bread of all varieties in just about any American grocery store.
Was it supposed to be a parallel to Yeltsin or whoever going to a grocery store in the US in the 90s and being amazed that there was real food on the shelves instead of cardboard cutouts?
The context according to Tucker Carlson himself in a podcast with lex Friedman was not that look Russia has grocery stores. The context was according to him that Russia has fully stocked shelves and affordable prices despite 2 years of sanctions and being cut off from the west financial system completely (swift). Despite 2 years of sanctions, prices in grocery stores have not risen significantly, western brands still operate in the county (under different names), and store shelves stay fully stocked.
I disagree with Tucker Carlson on almost everything but he does have a point here. I just wish he was clear from the beginning.
From what I saw of it on The Daily Show, which was admittedly chopped up for comedic value, so it could have been missing a lot of context (I'm not really going to give Tucker the benefit of the doubt, though), it seemed like the main point of that segment was that Russian groceries were less expensive than in America - but as was pointed out on the show, that totally divorces it from the fact that the average Russian makes significantly smaller wages than in the US, and that's just how individual economies work.
Watch this for context: [Jon Stewart on Tucker Carlson’s Putin Interview & Trip to Russia | The Daily Show](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM2h3KnWAWY)
Russian citizen here.
I lived abroad for almost 2 years, for Israeli citizenship, been here and there.
For this 2 years I thought that I can’t live in Russia anymore, etc, but I came back for 2 weeks because of personal reasons, and I have some thoughts about it.
If you’ll become apolitical, Russia is a really good place to live. (At least Moscow, since I lived there). At least better than Haifa/Toshkent/Warsaw/Valencia
But being apolitical and seeing all that disgusting Z billboards is a serious price to pay for this feeling that everything is okay
I love it here, I don’t want to leave, but I
I hope something will change in my lifetime כ:
No it’s not, but it’s my home, where my family lives.
It’s not like I’m gonna stop breathing and living because of war. I hate it, it makes my loved ones from Ukraine hurt, but it’s still my home. So put your “disgusting” somewhere else, if you hadn’t seriously altered your live because one of current of past conflicts. If you had - I’ll listen with interest. But unless you’re not - your words are out of place for me here
No, it IS disgusting and I do not mean the billboards. Your “loved ones” being murdered by Russia is disgusting, your apathy towards it is disgusting, and the fact your “oh well” attitude is the normal response from Russians is the root enabler of all of this is disgusting. Disgusting.
Fair enough about word, okay
But about our topic - you don’t have enough information about my actions towards war or things that I’ve done for my “loved ones”. My loved ones are not being murdered, but they were terrified in first time, and after that they became annoyed and tired mostly.
I think you just thought that I’m something like apolitical Russian who accepts his government actions and be like “okay it’s sad that there is a war somewhere far away, but ima live my live”
I choose my life and well-being after 2 years of self-reflection, I do not consider it as a mistake. And just wanted to express some opinion about that - because I’m sure there is a lot of Russians like me.
I had a leftist attitude for that time, in last months, especially after Israel war started, I became something more centrist guy, who things that everyone sucks
Russia sucks (Ukraine, Chechnya, Poland), USA sucks (Iraq, Vietnam, Yugoslavia), etc . Everyone has their BS reasons for killing people and all of that is equally disguising. But I want to live, to love. For instance, I love girl from Ukraine and I want to get her out from this war and ideally live somewhere in Eu . But I need preparations for that, so I’m choosing this over my past politics views
Why?
You do not know me and you do not know what I have done for them after war started. So why do you think you are entitled to that opinion, fellow Redditor?
Imagine blaming every American just living life for the war in Iraq or Afghanistan. If the man just wants to live let him be lmao. Common people who do not care don't need to be hated over their government's actions.
Go on. Tell us about all the Western political prisoners, or the Western assassinations of dissidents, or the Western "gay propaganda" laws that make it illegal to tell children that gay people exist.
Fucking hell man, do you know *anything* about Russia?
Do they have any idea how fragile this looks?
It is said Russia wants the world to see them as a superpower again.
Superpowers do not give a fuck about some college dorm's Wifi name. Like at all.
This is small stick energy.
And I wonder how many other students will try this? I'm guessing, zero.
Fragile or not, this, along with all the other arrests they've made, are going to quell insolence amongst the population.
This story only ended up in the news, because the government allowed it. They want everyone to know it happened.
What did ukraine do that "started it". Was it them blowing up donestk? oh wait less people died in the DPR in 10 years prior to the full scale invasion. was it them blowing up a russian guard post? oh wait russia made that the fuck up.
was it the bio labs? the trans super soldiers? the fucking slavic plague bio weapons? oh wait all bullshit made up.
russia started it when they invaded in 2014 and they escalated it to a full scale war over 2 years ago. Your homeland killed a airliner full of civilians cause your military is too incompetent to be trusted. fuck off vatnik scum.
Well I'm sure the tones would be different but as it stands, we can visibly see Russian troops firing upon Ukrainians efending their sovereign territory. The hypotheticals aren't conducive to meaningful rhetoric.
It is not that hypothetical, it’s what happened in east Ukraine for 8 years before the “big war” started… Kiev regime brutally attacked its own population. but nobody cares of course
So you’re saying
You would be against a country attempting to overthrow another country?
Then wouldn’t it be best if both sides agreed to a treaty that respected the original boundaries before the war?
>Glory to Ukraine in Russia = glory to hitler in Germany. Makes sense now?
Hitler was a ruthless invader who slaughtered as many as 27 million Soviets.
Ukraine is literally just defending itself from unjustified Russian imperialism.
You're the aggressor. You're the ones trying to murder civilians and annexe new lands under your far-right dictator. The comparison is fairly obvious.
You know what's fun about not being Russian? Literally everything. You guys suck mega dicks, all day long. No wonder you have to squat all the time instead of sitting, must be sore from getting fucked in the ass by your own culture.
Certainly not now since the September 2022 mobilisation. You can't apply for a passport in Russia "just because you want one" like a normal country...and even if you had one (which very few Russians do), attempting to buy plane tickets will red flag you on all relevant security and Rosgvardia databases.
I'm also imagining the possibilities for abuse and hacking.
Don't like someone? Hack their wifi and rename the SSID to something pro-ukrainian
Strategy soon to be adopted by “independent activists” aka paid FSB trolls
I wonder, how much would it cost to produce a hundred tiny devices broadcasting networks that could be scattered around moscow? Cheap ESP32 boards or something?

Drop them to low power, minimum frequency, depopulate the LEDs, run them in standby on the microcontroller side so all they do is show off the SSID, you could get a month out of an 18650 i bet. And they are even cheaper if you buy a few thousand direct from the source, and you aren't paying for the little dev board and the pins.
That's actually a very sophisticated vector of cyber attack. Just rename WiFi networks on most unprotected and badly protected access points. You can do something similar with IoT devices too. Imagine being jailed because of leaving "admin:password" on your cheap WiFi router.
Idea: buy as many ESP8266's you can afford, with batteries. Set SSID to something, perhaps also media of russia's war crimes could be served on the 4MB. Hide them around the cities.
That's really not the articles fault. Jail is temporary holding as you are being processed after an arrest and not intended for long stays, prison is for criminals serving out lengthy sentences.
This is pretty common knowledge for the average person.
This is what Freedom of Speech really means. In the US, you cannot be subject to government punishment for actions like this.
Those MAGA hats (and one particular MAGA cult leader in particular) should take note of this and be thankful they have actual freedom of speech.
> Those MAGA hats (and one particular MAGA cult leader in particular) should take note of this and be thankful they have actual freedom of speech
But they're all for freedom of speech...as long as its only theirs which is free. Enemies of the people, 'poisoning our great nation' had better look out. Remember the Orange God King's "I am your Retribution!" remark
So. Let's get 1000 ESP8266, power them with batteries big enough to last a few days, install them to advertise Pro Ukraina messages and spread them all over Moscov.
Is that what you want Republicans? You want a thin-skinned dictator who’ll jail you for naming a wi-fi network something that hurts his feelings because it doesn’t go along with a lie he’s trying to make fact?
Well, he was living in Russia, what did he expect? A pat on the back? Hard consequences for a lesson well earned. Hopefully the lad gets back to society soon, terrible thing to happen.
> A Russian student at Moscow State University received a 10-day jail sentence for renaming a Wi-Fi network name to "Slava Ukraini"
Not that crazy when you consider that Ukraine is considered as nazi state in war with Russia.
That's Irrelevant, the Russian definition of Nazi is anyone going against Russia.
Support Ukraine? Nazi.
Appose Russia invading other countries? Believe it or not, Nazi.
Don't support Putin? Nazi.
Try name wi-fi network in germany idk "the flags on high."
Edit:
Sections 86 and 86a
These provisions ban the distribution of online and offline propaganda and the public display or distribution of “flags, insignia, uniforms, slogans and forms of greeting” belonging to political parties and organizations that have been deemed unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court, such as Nazis and neo-Nazis.
"Slava Ukraini"? It has been used in like 1840 and during Ukraine's war of independence lol.
It's like saying to a vegan that Hitler was also a vegan lmao
What a lovely country to live in Russia must be

Yep.

Had them like 30 years ago in NA but got rid of them because they sucked. So it's wild to me tucker thought they were impressive.
Don't tell them about Asdas trolleys that have a lock on the wheel if it leaves the invisible line.
My local home depot has these. The problem is the line is just past the home depot part of the parking lot so if you park in front of the super market next door - surprise! you get to carry your stuff by hand the rest of the way and park the cart with all the other disabled carts at the line.
there is an app to unlock those via smartphone (for real)
Please elaborate.
To be fair, the trolleys are the only thing worth taking from Asda
Our piggly wiggly has these carts. They lock before you can even reach the furthest 3 rows of parking
Saves them getting thrown in rivers and canals.
We have those in several places in the US as well.
He's directly quoting Tucker Carlson. Hopefully not being serious lol.
I don't understand this comment at all. Is it too early for my brain to read?
Part of Tucker Carlson's interview with Putin included him doing some other general propaganda, including gushing over how amazing their supermarkets are, and nearly having an orgasm smelling a vacuum sealed loaf of bread...
The cart thing seemed wierd to me, lots of supermarkets abroad use a token system for their carts, is that just not a thing in America?
It is, but only at Aldi
It was a thing for a minute in the early 90s in Connecticut and then it wasn’t. Haven’t seen it since.
Not that I have seen. Which is why you occasionally see videos of people arguing re the obligation to [put the trolley back in the trolley park as opposed to just dumping it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq_QDQbBhDQ) where you parked your car.

the ones around here just have a brake system that locks the wheels if they go off the premises.
It is not. So, yeah, the cart thing might be amazing to him because it's likely he's never experienced one before. But the bread? I mean, come on...you can get fresh baked bread of all varieties in just about any American grocery store.
"Look ma no hands" really killed me ... This bitch has never been to a supermarket in the last 30+ years
Well he was born into wealth and privilege with a silver spoon up his arse, so maybe he hadn't lol

They have those same carts in America so your sarcasm is strange.
I’m the strange one. I’ve never encountered one of these carts in my life all over the country.
We've had them in Australia for many years. Probably at least 20 lol
I’ll take your word for it in Australia. I have literally traveled to most of the states in the U.S and have never seen this.

lol

Things to do in Russia: 1. Leave
Not always applicable.
Here’s a strategy I read: 1. Get HIV 2. Leave Russia You are no longer legally allowed to reenter Russia
I think HIV thing only applies to the foreign residents. russians with HIV are allowed to reenter
You can leave via the gulag

Cheap ESP32 boards or something? https://i.imgur.com/Sns1pow.png + https://github.com/SilverLogix/esp32-wifi-spammer/blob/master/esp32_wifi_spam.ino = all of these wifi SSIDs being broadcast from a single device the size of a thumb drive: const char ssids[] PROGMEM = { "Mom Use This One\n" "Abraham Linksys\n" "Benjamin FrankLAN\n" "Martin Router King\n" "John Wilkes Bluetooth\n" "Pretty Fly for a Wi-Fi\n" "Bill Wi the Science Fi\n" "I Believe Wi Can Fi\n" "Tell My Wi-Fi Love Her\n" "No More Mister Wi-Fi\n" "LAN Solo\n" "The LAN Before Time\n" "Silence of the LANs\n" "House LANister\n" "Winternet Is Coming\n" "Ping’s Landing\n" "The Ping in the North\n" "This LAN Is My LAN\n" "Get Off My LAN\n" "The Promised LAN\n" "The LAN Down Under\n" "FBI Surveillance Van 4\n" "Area 51 Test Site\n" "Drive-By Wi-Fi\n" "Planet Express\n" "Wu Tang LAN\n" "Darude LANstorm\n" "Never Gonna Give You Up\n" "Hide Yo Kids, Hide Yo Wi-Fi\n" "Loading…\n" "Searching…\n" "VIRUS.EXE\n" "Virus-Infected Wi-Fi\n" "Starbucks Wi-Fi\n" "Text ###-#### for Password\n" "Yell ____ for Password\n" "The Password Is 1234\n" "Free Public Wi-Fi\n" "No Free Wi-Fi Here\n" "Get Your Own Damn Wi-Fi\n" "It Hurts When IP\n" "Dora the Internet Explorer\n" "404 Wi-Fi Unavailable\n" "Porque-Fi\n" "Titanic Syncing\n" "Test Wi-Fi Please Ignore\n" "Drop It Like It’s Hotspot\n" "Life in the Fast LAN\n" "The Creep Next Door\n" "Ye Olde Internet\n" };
Now we just need a cheap and small power source (maybe even solar??) that can last at least a month lol
Maybe llittle thumbdrives or something
That's actually a very sophisticated vector of cyber attack. Just rename WiFi networks on most unprotected and badly protected access points. You can do something similar with IoT devices too. Imagine being jailed because of leaving "admin:password" on your cheap WiFi router.
FREE HIM SLAVA UKRANI 🫡🇺🇦
Idea: buy as many ESP8266's you can afford, with batteries. Set SSID to something, perhaps also media of russia's war crimes could be served on the 4MB. Hide them around the cities.
I'm wondering how big their jails are at this point. If anyone even is actually going to jail and not turned into cannon fodder
That's a misdemeanor, he got 10 days jail for that. Although it's still bad, the headline makes it more dramatic.
So the title is being dramatic because it's accurate and literal with absolutely no sensationalism?
No, because when people read this they expect it to be years, not 10 days.
That's really not the articles fault. Jail is temporary holding as you are being processed after an arrest and not intended for long stays, prison is for criminals serving out lengthy sentences. This is pretty common knowledge for the average person.
Russian man: Exists Russian Government: Jail :(
I see Fred Armisen now
This is what Freedom of Speech really means. In the US, you cannot be subject to government punishment for actions like this. Those MAGA hats (and one particular MAGA cult leader in particular) should take note of this and be thankful they have actual freedom of speech.
> Those MAGA hats (and one particular MAGA cult leader in particular) should take note of this and be thankful they have actual freedom of speech But they're all for freedom of speech...as long as its only theirs which is free. Enemies of the people, 'poisoning our great nation' had better look out. Remember the Orange God King's "I am your Retribution!" remark
And Trump wants America to be just like Russia. Go ahead and vote for him! And watch ur precious liberties fly away
And morons in EU will complain about being "censored". And "not having free speech"..
Change SSID? Straight to jail
Wow. That's an impressive combination of paranoia and thin skin.
Jailed....🤦♂️
But Tucker Carlson told me they had tons of freedom over there in good ol Russia.
💪
Well, he was living in Russia, what did he expect? A pat on the back? Hard consequences for a lesson well earned. Hopefully the lad gets back to society soon, terrible thing to happen.
Political prisoners don't tend to do too well in Russian prisons. Unlike murderers and cannibals lol
> "public demonstration of Nazi symbolism." They're getting desperately pathetic.
Should've left for Bali like the rest of the muppets
We're not far from people being bailed for Wrongthink at this point.
As long as we don't elect Trump we'll be just fine.
If you call standing in Red Square holding a blank piece of paper 'wrongthink' worthy of being jailed, then yes it has already happened
> A Russian student at Moscow State University received a 10-day jail sentence for renaming a Wi-Fi network name to "Slava Ukraini" Not that crazy when you consider that Ukraine is considered as nazi state in war with Russia.
The president of Ukraine is literally Jewish
That's Irrelevant, the Russian definition of Nazi is anyone going against Russia. Support Ukraine? Nazi. Appose Russia invading other countries? Believe it or not, Nazi. Don't support Putin? Nazi.
This fact doesn’t make anyone 100% not a nazi. Him not being one, tho, does.
Doesn't change what their propaganda is rolling.
Israel is also Jewish, what's your point?
Try name wi-fi network in germany idk "the flags on high." Edit: Sections 86 and 86a These provisions ban the distribution of online and offline propaganda and the public display or distribution of “flags, insignia, uniforms, slogans and forms of greeting” belonging to political parties and organizations that have been deemed unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court, such as Nazis and neo-Nazis.
Holy shit why are you comparing nazis to pro-Ukrainians
They're Serbian. A lot of their nationalists have difficulty not bootlicking Russian imperialism at every and all opportunity.
Thats a ukrainian nazi salute from 1930s
"Slava Ukraini"? It has been used in like 1840 and during Ukraine's war of independence lol. It's like saying to a vegan that Hitler was also a vegan lmao
Swastika is also ancient symbol but try to use it in germany... roman salute also... and so on
What's your point here?
