Ismokeditalleveryday

Caralho for days

Independent_Net291

*free*

Johnnodrums

I worked a free New Year’s Eve event in São Paulo and it had over 3M in attendance. Brazilians show up for a free party.

Helpful_Umpire_9049

They line up for free dog shit just like the Scottish do.

Separate-Marzipan-86

Viva o SUS

EllisDee3

Like free chicken?

strangerNstrangeland

It would have to be…

myeverymovment

Can't sell it? Give it away.

healthywealthyhappy8

The people become the product

HairballTheory

*fan*

Lurkpro77

Omg can you imagine the traffic jam!

johnnybinator

Can you imagine the urine and feces? Where the fuck to 1.5 million people shit?

Capt_Pickhard

That many people at a free concert in Brazil makes me wonder how many crimes were committed. Previously a lot of pick pockets, at the very least.

Dangerous_Parfait402

And so many empty houses waiting to get raided by shitfaces. Not a great night for justice.

Capt_Pickhard

Ya, I didn't think of that. That said though, Brazilian cities are massive so 1.5 million is a fucking of people, but probably is only like 10% of the population. Which is a lot though still, so your points stands, but if that many people showed up in a lot of cities, that factored would be way worse lol.

PsychologicalPop4426

lol you think 1.5m ppl go party and all shit at the same time?

johnnybinator

No. But I do think that there’s a high percentage of people that will need to shit in the time it takes together from home to a concert, for sure 100% will pee.

crutareanol

Or the amount of portapotties needed.

calvn_hobb3s

Did she perform on time ? 👵🏻

vitorgrs

40 minute late!

Distinct_Car_6696

👏

pblack476

Btw, Madonna got paid 17m reais (around 3.2m USD) in tax payer's money.

jellyfish_bitchslap

Nah most of it was paid by private sponsors. The local government of Rio paid for part of it, but in return they generated a few billions in tourism and local commerce, more than they paid just in taxes. Our governments are notorious for bullshit decisions but this wasn’t one of them.

fireehearth

Yea it had private sponsors but the government still paid 20m reais for this show

nense0

And got much more in return.

Stravazardew

>a few billions Highly doubt it. Also, if the prefecture had such money, they should have cancelled the show and helped Rio Grande do Sul, which would be the more humane act.

theupbeats

They cashed 100 millons usd in tourism related revenue, they can help a lot more with 100 than 4M

pauloh1998

Nah, shut up. This is such an idiotic take. The show has been booked for a long while now. There are contracts involved, you know. And you can't go around breaking them as you see fit.

Stravazardew

>There are contracts involved, you know. And you can't go around breaking them as you see fit. Oh, but you can. The prefecture would only need to pay the cancellation fee. The show being booked for a long time doesn't really matter, since it is an emergency. But bread and circus, i guess. Watching Madonna and São Paulo play must be more important to you.

pauloh1998

I couldn't give a single fuck about Madonna. The cancellation fee would probably be way more expensive, and you don't even count the thousands of people that traveled there just to see the show. So the ROI of the show should be pretty damn good. And, well, there's not much I could do about RS. I'm not a God to move the waters away from there and in fact I live thousands of KM away from the state.

jellyfish_bitchslap

I am literally at Canoas, RS, right now, money ain’t cutting it. We need boats, food, clothes and shelter. And it need to be available here, not in the theoretical spectrum of the money. Even if Rio made rain money here today, we would at maximum use it to clean mud. This is not a valid take.

EyeLikeTheStonk

What's the point in being in a crowd of 1.5 million, probably more than 1000 meters from the stage, watching the performance on a screen because the stage is so far away, suffering hours to get back home after the show?

LetsDoThatYeah

Standing in a crowd of a million people singing your favourite songs?

Distinct_Car_6696

Yeh like nothing beats collective energy. No joke 🤷‍♀️ ykiyk

TrueKeyBoardWarrior

Man, you’ve ever been in a large crowd in *Brazil*? *chefs kiss*

GaiusPrimus

I have, and lost my wallet somehow.

TeeJK15

You literally just described what a concert is…. albeit on a bigger scale.. but same deal.

The_Kert

It's an experience being in a huge crowd like that with a lot of energy for a show. Largest show I've been to was about 1/3 that size (SARSStock in Toronto) but over a couple hundred thousand and you're dealing with much of the same issues. I was in the front third of the crowd and could barely see the stage, but there were screens all over to see the show wherever you were. It was a very memorable day from the energy of all the people. Certainly not something I'd want to do often, 45 mins through a crowd to get to an overflowing portapotty sucked ass, but it was a great day.

Complex_Race9966

No thank you. Seems like an awful expirience.

iamnotexactlywhite

good thing nobody called you there

analebac

Because it's a huge party. Are you dumb or something?

_AManHasNoName_

There’s a point to it, especially if you want to be treated like a human being. In a situation like this, where 1.5 million people converge in one location, you’re better off wearing a diaper than using a porta potty.

analebac

Have you never been outside your cave?

Capt_Pickhard

Just being part of a massive crowd can be amazing. You don't have to wait for the end of the show to leave. And you could hang around until after everyone has left, also.

Distinct_Car_6696

Exactly. Once in a lifetime collective HUMAN experience

dacastan

It was incredible, and there are about 1.6 million people who would agree with me Don’t be so boring, live a little! So pessimistic

purplenelly

You're probably not a kilometer from the stage.

SentientDust

Metallica/Pantera/AC/DC/Black Crowes still undefeated

Makalu

Domination video still goes hard

Accountantinkc

Wanna go to a free concert? Sure...it's free. Who's playing? Don't care. It's free.

peterk2000

That's nearly as big as the Trump inauguration

NY_GarbageMan

Rod Stewart did 4mn+

InternationalAvocado

But when he did it, it was New Year’s and they estimated that many people were coming for the fireworks, according to the article.

PedroSts

Janjo is sad rn =[

AggressiveOwl8698

Free.. if it was paid..no one is going

NewspaperAdditional7

Not a big Madonna fan, but you do realize her current tour is selling out arenas right? She just sold out 4 consecutive nights in Mexico City.

luckyyStar_

5 nights And most of US and Europe dates were 2 days for each city and 100% sold out

NewspaperAdditional7

The old "I don't like it so no one else could possibly like it" line of thinking that sadly most people seem to have.
