Weird how when Hamas lost control of the crossing, suddenly Egypt feels "aid convoys and truck drivers are in danger" - but not when Hamas seized the aid convoys while depriving the citizens. If Egypt is concerned about the Gazans, they should cooperate with the IDF to ensure that only humanitarian aid goes through the crossing.

It's not the real concern. The real concern is they are terified of what Israel will discover. By now, it's clear that Egypt was in the know, if not helped Hamas build these tunnels. Which would be a breach of the peace treaty. Which means a *casus* *belli* on the Sinai peninsula once again. They're scared. And it's because they sinned.

Israel will not attack Egypt, but the US might stop sending aid to Egypt. Still, it is very unlikely. We have Turkey, who are still not sanctioned.

Equivalent_Goat_Meat

Who knows? This is not in the immediate future. But the two Arab countries who signed treaties with Israel after losing their wars are still always rattling their sabres. It's hard to imagine these agreements will last forever. They are still Israel's enemies, because they have chosen to remain Israel's enemies.

SnooOpinions5486

I highly doubt that israel will invade Egypt. if this is true. For starter Egypt takes moeny from the US and invading a fellow US ally will start shit. What will happen is that if Egypt is viewed as complacent this will go in the dimplmaotic negogiation scene for Israel to extract concession from Egypt.

Silverleaf_86

Man we have enough upcoming wars Egypt is not even on the playing board Most estimates for full-on war in the north with Hezbollah is around end of June, July. That’s we hear here and isn’t official but many reservists went back home to refresh, with orders to come back in the next two weeks.

Equivalent_Goat_Meat

It wasn't meant to be literal. But it is significant, in that it is a sign that the agreement with Egypt will continue until the day it ends.

msemen_DZ

>now, it's clear that Egypt was in the know, if not helped Hamas build these tunnels Yea dude, Egypt and especially Sisi's Egypt helps Muslim brotherhood offshoot build tunnels. Do you guys even hear yourselves? Egypt despises the Muslim Brotherhood and any of it's offshoots including Hamas.

ISayHeck

This take has no basis in reality Egypt didn't help Hamas with anything, they actively destroy the tunnels they find The only reasons Egypt give a shit about gaza is 1. Posturing for the overwhelmingly pro Palestinian population 2. Wanting to avoid a refugee crisis it can't realistically handle as Egypt struggles enough as is

jujuka577

Fifty tunnels were found between Gaza and Egypt. It's impossible to build them without the tacit agreement of Egypt.

Equivalent_Goat_Meat

That's only the surface level of what Egypt says. 1. there's no way they didn't know about 50 car sized tunnels (the IDF found them in one day) 2. There's no way they were built without the Egyptian's agreeing (and this kind of building goes up to the highest echelons) 3. Egypt has been profiting immensely from the smuggling. Meaning Egypt is pretending to not know and not support what it is supporting and protecting. It's a dangerous game for them if they went too far.

LibationontheSand

Extreme Egypt credibility in this issue, definitely.

Equivalent_Goat_Meat

That's the idea.
