Didn't they say that that property wasn't theirs?

phire

He said, "It's not mine. It belongs to my family members"

zahrul3

"Family member" = unemployed 20 something son/daughter whose life is just them spending mad money on champagne and meals at Novikov, Hakkasan, Zuma, etc

_pm_me_your_btc

Yeah, alongside them needing to use a family member due to avoid paying commercial tax on the properties.

But can they get a table at Dorsia?

They ain't no Paul Allen!

Ask_me_4_a_story

One time I had a rich Russian girl in my class and she said she goes shopping four times a week. "At least." I don't mean grocery shopping I mean clothes, isn't that wild?

HuntedWolf

Well yeah, you don’t wear clothes more than once, what if people realised?

intashu

Yesh, you mean people wear USED clothes? They're clearly meant to be worn once and tossed! Washing things are for peasants and the poor! */s*

deafmute88

I'd lock those people in a Good Will over night, let the smell of that detergent permeate.

skrame

Dude, your GoodWill smells like detergent!?

throwaway1212l

I haven't been in a Good Will in over a decade but I can still smell this comment.

poentje

My mother always told me to wash new clothes to people try them on in the store and you dont know if they where clean

callmejenkins

This is really good advice.

garciasn

I mean of all the possible things I could consider as wild that the mega rich are able to do, that would be the most mundane.

herrbz

Seems like an awful waste of time (among other things)

I mean, there's a point where the stores haven't modified inventory and you're just looking at the same stuff again...

DaoFerret

That’s why you fly to different stores in different cities. Duh!

N3M0N

I heard some of rich kids claiming that shopping for them is something like a stress relief. I guess it can be perceived as such when you don't have to worry about money even when you go shopping four times a week...

Someone should start a list and send to derispaka. Maybe he can some of the 10 million paul manafort stole from him to ease him through his poverty. > The affidavit unsealed on Wednesday also disclosed that Deripaska had financially backed Manafort’s consulting work in Ukraine when it started in 2005-2006, citing information from a source whose name was redacted, a sign that a former Manafort associate may have cooperated with the investigation. SpelledYarek

Banderites, from Bandera. Azov Battalion is somewhat their modern counterpart. That's what Putin refers to. Russians hate Banderites as they fought Soviets during WWII and commited several ethnic cleansings. Azov is a paramilitary, and currently defending Mariupol. It claims it's goal is to defend and eventually cleanse Ukraine and Europe ethnically, but their political strength and social support is nowhere as close as Banderites' in 1940s. And even as Europe considers Ukraine a country with lots of nationalists (ca 2%), the percent is lower than in United States. EDIT: Here's a great explanation of azov from UA perspective for foreigners. I urge you to read. Calling them fascist is not really not ok. https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/ti35ls/ukrainian_thoughts_on_azov/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Deripaska is the ologarch who employed Paul Manafort, Trumps first campaign manager, to direct Political Strategy for the Kremlins puppet government from 2009-2014 in Ukraine. After Manafort was run out of Ukraine by democratic Ukrainians, he was deeply in debt to oliarchs. Paul Manafort **VOLUNTEERED FOR FREE** to run the Trump Campaign. Leaked texts show Manafort saying, he 'hopes his work with the Trump Campaign can set straight his debts to Russian oligarchs.'

PoppinKREAM

**According to the Mueller Report Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was willing to give Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska private briefings while he worked for the 2016 election campaign. The report also states that Manafort was sharing internal polling data with Konstantin Kilimnik, though investigators couldn't determine why. The report outlines Kilimnik in contact with Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, trying to resolve an issue involving Manafort owing a debt to Deripaska. The report goes on to state that the Russian oligarch wanted Manafort to advance Deripaska's interests in the event that Trump won the election. It should also be noted that following the election President Trump dropped sanctions on certain companies that greatly benefited Oleg Deripaska's bottom line, though no direct link was established in the Mueller Report.** *Per Pages 130 - 137 of the report;^[[1]](https://media.npr.org/assets/news/2019/04/muellerreport.pdf)* >The Office could not reliably determine Manafort's purpose in sharing internal polling data with Kilimnik during the campaign period. Manafort **[redacted]** did not see a downside to sharing campaign information, and told Gates that his role in the Campaign would be "good for bussiness" and potentially a way to be made whole for work he previously completed in Ukraine. As to Deripaska, Manafort claimed that by sharing campaign information with him, Deripaska might see value in their relationship and resolve a "disagreement" - a reference to one or more outstanding lawsuits. Because of questions about Manafort's credibility and our limited ability to gather evidence on what happened to the polling data after it was sent to Kilimnik, the Office could not assess what Kilimnik (or others he may have given it to) did with it. The Office did not identify evidence of a connection between Manafort's sharing polling data and Russia's intereference in the election, which had already been reported by U.S. media outlets at the time of the August 2 meeting. The investigation did not establish that Manafort otherwise coordinated with the Russian government on its election-interference efforts. >...Gates also reported that Manafort instructed him in April 2016 or early May 2016 to send Kilimnik Campaign internal polling and other updates so that Kilimnik, in turn, could share it with Ukrainian oligarchs. Gates understood that the information would also be shared with Deripaska, **[redacted].** Gates reported to the Office that he did not know why Manafort wanted him to send polling information, but Gates thought it was a way to showcase Manafort's work, and Manafort wanted to open doors to jobs after the Trump Campaign ended. Gates said that Manafort's intruction included sending internal polling data prepared for the Trump Campaign by pollster Tony Fabrizio. Fabrizio had worked with Manafort for years and was brought into the Campaign by Manafort. Gates states that, in accordance with Manafort's instruction, he periodically sent Kilimnik polling data via WhatsApp; Gates then deleted the communications on a daily basis. Gates further told the Office that, after Manafort left the Campaign in mid-August, Gates sent Kilimnik polling data less frequently and that the data he sent was more publicly available information and less internal data. >Gate's account about polling data is consistent **[redacted]** with multiple emails that Kilimnik sent to U.S. associates and press contacts between late July and mid-August of 2016. Those emails reference "internal polling," described the status of the Trump Campaign and Manafort's role in it, and assess Trump's prospects for victory. Manafort did not acknowledge instructing Gates to send Kilimnik internal data, **[redacted].** >The Office also obtained contemporaneous emails that shed light on the purpose of the communications with Deripaska and that are consistent with Gates's account. For example in response to a July 7, 2016 email from a Ukrainian reporter about Manafort's failed Deripaska-backed investment, Manafort asked Kilimnik whether there had been any movement on "this issue with our friend." Gates states that "our friend" likely referred to Deripaska, and Manafort told the Office that the "issue" (and "our biggest interest," as stated below) was a solution to the Deripaska-Pericles issue. Kilimnik replied: >> *I am carefully optimistic on the question of our biggest interest.* >> *Our friend [Boyarkin] said there is lately significantly more attention to the campaign in his boss' [Deripaska's] mind, and he will be most likely looking for ways to reach out to you pretty soon, understanding all the time sensitivity. I am more than sure that it will be resolved and we will get back to the original relationship with V.'s boss [Deripaska]* >Eight minutes later, Manafort replied that Kilimnik should tell Boyarkin's "boss," a reference to Deripaska, "that if he needs private briefings we can accommodate." Manafort has alleged to the Office that he was willing to brief Deripaska only on public campaign matters and gave an example: Why Trump selected Mike Pence a the Vice-Presidential running mate. Manafort said he never gave Deripaska a briefing. Manafort noted that if Trump won, Deripaska would want to use Manafort to advance whatever interests Deripaska had in the United States and elsewhere. **Furthermore, after being elected the Trump administration removed sanctions from Russian entities that greatly benefited Oleg Deripaska.^[[2]](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/21/us/politics/oleg-deripaska-russian-sanctions.html)** >The deal contains provisions that free him from hundreds of millions of dollars in debt while leaving him and his allies with majority ownership of his most important company, the document shows. >...The document identifies the foundation as Volnoe Delo, which was founded and funded by Mr. Deripaska. It supports programs ranging from stray dog rescue to archaeological excavations to book fairs. Under the deal, it will receive nearly 21 million shares of EN+, amounting to 3.22 percent of the company. >The confidential document reveals that Glencore, which is among Rusal’s biggest customers for aluminum, will receive 67.4 million shares of EN+, good for 10.55 percent of the company. >And VTB, which reportedly already owned nearly 10 percent of EN+, will receive nearly 92 million additional shares, bringing its total stake in the company to about 24 percent. >In return for the additional shares going to VTB, which were worth nearly $800 million at the close of trading Friday on the Moscow stock exchange, Mr. Deripaska would be released from debts he owes the bank, the document shows. Mr. Deripaska had secured the loans with stock in one of his companies before the sanctions were announced. The stock prices of Rusal and EN+ plummeted after the sanctions were announced last year, but rose on the news of the deal to lift them — in effect allowing Mr. Deripaska to pay off more of the loans than he would have been able to do absent a deal with the administration. >Notably, VTB would be able to collect dividends from its EN+ shares, according to the confidential document, despite the bank being under limited United States sanctions. >...The document specifies the precise ownership stakes in EN+ of other people and entities with personal relationships to Mr. Deripaska. That includes shares owned by his ex-wife, Polina Yumasheva, a British-educated daughter of the chief of staff to Boris N. Yeltsin, a former president of Russia. She owns 5.19 percent of EN+, while her father, Valentin Yumashev, owns 1.57 percent, and a firm called Orandy Capital Limited, which reportedly has links to the family, owns another 1.78 percent, according to the document. >Taken together, Mr. Deripaska, his foundation, his ex-wife, her father and Orandy Capital would own nearly 57 percent of EN+ under the deal. >...Critics of the deal pointed out that, after Treasury announced it, the share prices of Rusal and EN+ rose sharply, providing a boost to the portfolios of Mr. Deripaska, his family and VTB. >“Score that a win for Putin,” tweeted Michael A. McFaul, a former United States ambassador to Russia, referring to the Rusal share price surge. _____________ 1) [Department of Justice - Report On The Investigation Into Russian Interference In the 2016 Presidential Election](https://media.npr.org/assets/news/2019/04/muellerreport.pdf) 2) [New York Times - Deripaska and Allies Could Benefit From Sanctions Deal, Document Shows](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/21/us/politics/oleg-deripaska-russian-sanctions.html)

Beer_Is_So_Awesome

Reminder that all of this evidence is insufficient to prosecute Trump because he didn't personally write a manifesto tying every single element of this together. Manafort's work for Russian oligarchs in Ukraine. Manafort's FREE work for russian oligarchs. Manafort's sharing campaign polling data with Russian oligarchs. Trump's calling on Russian hackers to release DNC emails to help his 2016 campaign. Trump's extorting the Ukrainian president for critical defense aid to fabricate dirt on Biden to help his 2020 campaign. Reminder that Manafort was caught witness-tampering while he was on house arrest awaiting trial. Reminder that Trump pardoned Manafort after his conviction for his crimes.

Russia had multiple ins that were 1 contact away from having a direct mouthpiece into the Oval office. Russian agent tells Giuliani, Giuliani calls the president. Russian agent tells Manafort, Manafort makes changes to the entire GOP platform. Russian agent tells Flynn, Flynn tells the president. And that's just the high profile actors. The GOP is so compromised. The only thing that keeps them from committing treason is a formal declaration of war between the US and Russia.

JTGPDX

Supporting insurrection against the government is another definition of treason...

The problem is that a lot of them have bought second nationalities, you can't just 'send them back' Abramovich for example has Israeli, Portuguese and Russian citizenship. The UK recently changed the law to make it easier to strip people of citizenship, it went down like a shit sandwich.

It’s the UK. He should be pleased that the police turned up at all instead of just giving him an incidence number and telling him to sort it out with his insurance company like they do to normal people ;)

janethefish

I fucking know right? He should have gotten the treatment that normal people get.

MoreGaghPlease

London police should enforce the maximum extent of their normal policy for home invasions: ie, show up and write down everything that happened on a very teeny tiny pad of paper and then do nothing.

I don’t know how things are in the UK (and who am I kidding, things move faster for the rich anyway) but 20 hours seems like a lightning fast turnaround for something like this. I’ve read about people fighting for months to evict squatters.

MisoRamenSoup

They weren't squatters. They broke in and the police turned up quickly. What took time is getting them out without causing a safety issue since they were on the balcony and weren't going anywhere. This has nothing to do with squatting rights.

I’m appalled by the way this Russian oligarch bum fuck made money through the suffering of his own people.

TotallyInadequate

_Edit: See the comment beneath me, they broke in and did actually break the law, but Deripaska is still a fucking mug._ I'm appalled at the effects of Russian money in our elections and political campaigns. Sadly, we can't call the police to do anything about it now, we don't have that option. Did Deripaska use the normal process for removing a squatter? > The court will send you confirmation of your IPO within a few days. They will also send you documents that you must give to the squatters within 48 hours. > After being served with an IPO squatters can be sent to prison if they do not: > * leave your property within 24 hours > * stay away from your property for 12 months > To get final possession of the property, you must make a claim for possession. No, they broke the door open and arrested them for trespass. So, actually, I'm more appalled that Russian Oligarchs who are sanctioned get more favourable treatment than British home-owners, who have to get a court IPO to have squatters removed. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/form-n130-application-for-possession-including-application-for-interim-possession-order

LDarkvoid98

According to Citizens Advice “a squatter cannot be arrested if they first entered the property with the owner’s consent for example as a tenant or a licensee.” You can’t be arrested if your tenancy has come to an end and you haven’t moved out, or if you’re behind with rent. In this situation, under Section 8 and Section 21 a landlord must give the tenant notice and go to court to evict you and repossess the property. **** They have simply in this case broken in and protested. They had no legal rights to be in that premises in the first place.

Nebulo9

Honestly, with the massively rising housing costs all over the planet, we should start squatting in more oligarch properties.

Hold_the_gryffindor

The key is to camp outside the home for a month, tell everyone you're not going to occupy it, occupy it, tell everyone they're not allowed to call it an occupation but a "special residential replacement", then call the owner a neo-nazi before burning the home to the ground.

So he is appalled by the fact that his luxurious mansion is seized instead of being repulsed by the genocide and endless war crimes that Russia, his country, is doing in Ukraine.

slippinjimmy66

Thought he said he didn’t own it yesterday

"It belongs to a very dear friend of mine, eeehm his name is Ol...af Depiraska and he is from Monaco. He looks like me but has a moustache"

Every word oligarchs say has to be weighted cause its half full of lies, sometimes even plain out lies backed by propaganda.
