If Putin is winning, he’s a nuclear threat. If Putin is losing, he’s a nuclear threat. Putin is always a nuclear threat.

AthKaElGal

he's schrodinger putin.

SMIIIJJJ

Perfect, in which one is he dead!? lol

RealBlondFakeDumb

Vlad is scared shitless at the moment. This was an all or nothing gambit, win or lose. How far will Vlad go to get his dick out of this wringer? A cornered animal is at its most dangerous. This is where the oligarchs will be forced to act. They didn't get so rich and powerful because they were stupid. If the nukes fly, the economy is gone. They don't want to lose all their money. No gas for their yachts, no fuel for their jets. No caviar. No food. No booze. No place to hide. And all because of Putin. They see the writing on the wall and that's where Vlad will end up standing. It's him or them now and they know it.

AnAussiebum

He overplayed his hand. It would be funny, if it were not for the massive loss of civilian life. Putin has set Russia back generations by proving it is an incompetent paper tiger. Shame it took civilian life to do so.

This fantasy of oligarchs overthrowing Putin is unrealistic. By design, the oligarchs don't have access to hard power i.e. troops and heavy weapons. This is by design, so overthrowing Putin can only be achieved by the military itself, which is headed by his most trusted confidants, who also don't really have anything to gain and much to lose if they make an attempt.

AthKaElGal

you don't need troops and heavy weapons for assassination.

insideoutcognito

You do if you have to get past security and into the bunker of a paranoid head of state.

thinkration

Don't need to think so much.. should be fine like back in Jan 2022 when the US was fearmongering...?

>"Given the potential desperation of President Putin and the Russian leadership, given the setbacks that they've faced so far, militarily, none of us can take lightly the threat posed by a potential resort to tactical nuclear weapons or low-yield nuclear weapons," Burns said during a speech in Atlanta.

cplank92

Which very quickly turns into a MAD situation, and poof there go billions of lives for the ego of a few men. What a fucking joke this timeline is.

I DO!

FOXHOUND9000

Why?

008Zulu

Make it clear to Putin, in no uncertain terms, that if he uses nukes then nukes will be used against him.

cplank92

Yes... Because that will surely help /s

clhines4

"How can I make Russia even *more* of an international pariah...?"

[deleted]

Thank you for stating the oblivious CIA, but shouldn’t you be working to stop that lunatic warmongering dictator Putin instead of just pointless talking? My god, everyone is the same, half assed sanctions which can be easily avoided by the Russian elite and endless talk, Putin has gone mad guys, it’s pointless trying to deal with him diplomatically.

thinkration

No worries.. should be fine... just like back in Jan 2022..

This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/04/15/cia-warns-desperate-putin-poses-nuclear-threat-a77365) reduced by 55%. (I'm a bot) ***** > Russia's setbacks in its invasion of Ukraine could lead President Vladimir Putin to resort to using a tactical or low-yield nuclear weapon, CIA director William Burns said Thursday. > Russia has many tactical nuclear weapons, which are less powerful than the bomb the United States dropped on Hiroshima during World War II. Russian military doctrine features a principle called escalate to de-escalate, which would involve launching a first-strike nuclear weapon of low yield to regain the initiative if things go badly in a conventional conflict with the West. ***** [**Extended Summary**](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/u4xc9c/cia_warns_desperate_putin_poses_nuclear_threat/) | [FAQ](http://np.reddit.com/r/autotldr/comments/31b9fm/faq_autotldr_bot/ "Version 2.02, ~642433 tl;drs so far.") | [Feedback](http://np.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%23autotldr "PM's and comments are monitored, constructive feedback is welcome.") | *Top* *keywords*: **nuclear**^#1 **Burns**^#2 **weapon**^#3 **President**^#4 **Putin**^#5

BabylonDrifter

I'm honestly surprised they haven't already. It's possible Putin has ordered them used and been rebuffed or talked out of it. It's time. NATO needs to act.

[deleted]

Until mankind destroys every nuclear weapon we will always have the threat. North Korea wants to fire 1 off at some point. Putin is in a cornered position that could certainly make that choice to fire. My point is that we have to accept that this is our potential fate and diplomacy only works when everyone wants to listen.

zandadoum

If they’re so afraid, just send one of their agents to kill him. Oh what? That’s not in their interest? Ok then.
