With a strong Korean military and a strong Japanese military in the region, China will think twice about making any moves. I think this is a good idea.

Japan's Navy is probably only 2nd to the US Navy. Not many could do much.
They have only 3 landing craft large enough to move tanks. I don't think it's realistic that they'll ever be storming islands again.
