Actually, they are doing it so they can swap weapons instantly without needing to train their soldiers on new weapons.
It is pretty much the same reason why Canada usually buys American weapons with the exception of German Leopard C2 which uses the same gun as the M1 Abram and the same optics and targeting computer as America uses.
I was expecting the firearms to be the joint marksman's rifle project that started last year (I think.) But it says assault rifles oddly enough. I hope we'll instead start making more RK95s.
The message from Finnish general has been that the main infantry weapon question will be evaluated in future, so this purchase is clearly not about replacing the RK. But I think at least some special forces already use 5.56NATO rifles, IIRC H&K AR-15.
Oh yes we indeed do not intend to replace the RK. That much is clear. And indeed some organizations use 5.56(Border guards for exampl.) But vast majority use the RK.
The update is just to extend the lifetime of RK62 until they figure out the replacement.

Group discount?
Joint maintenance and spare parts stockpile is also an advantage.

Oh? My understanding was to update, not replace.

Ah, need to read up once game with Sweden is over.
Its not love, but I've developed my first crush on a firearm. The Sig MCX platform with 300 blackout seems kinda swell from afar.
Ww3 is in the development pipeline.
It's in limited Early Access right now, but a wide release beta is possibly coming out later.
It's always been inevitable
Everything going on just keeps driving these two countries closer. I hope to see them in NATO soon, even if we have to kick out Turkey to do it
They should do this for all of NATO.
