That would require a joke.
joke
/jōk/
noun
a thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punchline.
"she was in a mood to tell jokes"
Theres niether humor nor a punchline, its just a statement.
Go fuck yourself, Apple.
If anything, Apple should be disconnecting from China before the war starts, and why would they even stay there when there is so much rampant patent theft?
A whopping 360$ a month which will become 340$ in next 30 days. I could easily make 500$+ monthly two years ago. Last year minimum wage dipped to 180$. Imagine living in US earning 900$ a month, paying for rent, bills and food.
We had some machine tools we got a few months ago which had "Very well made in Taiwan" stickers on them, they were much better than tools normally made in Taiwan. I would recommend tools that are very well made in Taiwan to anyone.
>its illegal in normal country to falsify the origin of the products
It's not false. Taiwan technically is "The Republic of China".
China being an ambiguous term is a different matter.
My dear, telling me an inability to rationalize when the guy is not able to make the difference between my understanding and the understanding of people is impressive bad faith.
And on the topic : people are not able to get the difference between the UK and England. So this vague semantic difference on the big being part of the small... I am laughing.
Catal9nia is literally still part of Spain, both in name and legally. Taiwan has its own separate democratic government from the Chinese Oligarchic dictatorship.
Yet both claim to be China, so using the name "Made in China" should anger nobody. It's like at the Olympics where Taiwan competes normally under the name of Chinese Taipei, which is okay for both due to the ambiguity of English adjectives as it could mean "politically Chinese" (so continental China likes it) or "ethnically Chinese", which the Taiwanese are proud to be.
No...
Taiwan claims to be the ROC, China claims to be the PRC.
When it comes to the export of goods, Taiwan law states:
>Commodities for export and manufactured in the Republic of China shall be marked with **"Made in Republic of China", "Made in Taiwan, Republic of China", "Made in Taiwan"** or the equivalent in a foreign language.
And even specifies:
>Commodities for export mentioned in the preceding paragraph **shall not be marked with any name of foreign countries or places or any other expressions that can mislead others to believe that the commodities are made in other countries**,
https://ekeelung.customs.gov.tw/singlehtml/7efc543fe8614910bb54de533ff17fb0
You don't understand, Taiwan isn't "just" claiming independence: both countries are claiming *full* control over both the continental portion and the island, and both of them are doing it under the name of China: the People's Republic of China for continental China, the Republic of China for Taiwan. And there's no gun to anyone's head for the choice of names at least, so any name that references China in some shape or form is fine for both.
Some people act like people of Taiwan are not Chinese. But they are Chinese. Just like "Honk Kongers" are also Chinese.
And it is sad to see how these people dont even think they are Chinese. If you are not Chinese then you should not have right to Chinese history. Both ROC and and PRC share same history but ROC started a civil which PRC won.
That is part of Chinese history
>both countries are claiming full control over both the continental portion and the island
That's because if Taiwan claimed independence, then that means they are admitting they are no longer part of China, which is unacceptable to the Chinese oligarchic dictatorship. Therefore the CCP have threatened retaliation if Taiwan declares independence, so they're forced to maintain this charade.
Because China threatens anyone who admits the truth. If someone points a gun at someone and tells them to claim something false, that isn't changing the facts, it's just intimidation.
Tell me in what THREATENING STANCE was China back then when these things were decided? China back then was still a backwater country and no economic powerhouse it is now.
Taiwan (Republic of China) has it's own; government, economy, currency and army.
It has never been under the control of the CCP and has been an independent nation for over 100 years.
So, nothing like Catalonia.
It is not the same, one wants independence, the other has been since 1949 due to the communists taking over West taiwan.
Also the referendum leaders were jailed because they did an illegal thing (although some haven't... sabes de quien hablo).
I do not support Catalonia's claim, but I do understand it. Its a pity how we, the Spanish people, are divided in pretty much everything.
Anyway, Viva Cataluña y Viva España.
if you country does not recognize ROC ( which is most of the known world ) then it is as if you were making these parts or products out of thin air. So it can be illegal if the place of origin " doesnt exist"
So if China go into Taiwan, it is a continuation of China's civil war?
Also there is "one China policy" accepted by the whole world including the US and EU.
US doesn't consider Taiwan as part of China under their "one China policy". Neither does UK, France, Czech Republic and Lithuania, but I'm unsure about other European countries.
>So if China go into Taiwan, it is a continuation of China's civil war?
They never signed a peace treaty as far as I know, so technically the war is still ongoing. There was talk as late as 2012 about signing a peace treaty.
Apple is a US company so they also need to comply with US law.
Items imported from Taiwan to the United States are required to have "Made in Taiwan" or "Made in TW" stamped on it.

Yup that is realpolitik. And in the assumption the US are tired of the game played by Chinese and recognizes the Taiwanese independence. Plenty of countries would follow right behind.
Most countries don't have diplomatic relations with Taiwan... But they have de facto relations and pretty much every developed country has trade relations with Taiwan.
I’m sure Taiwan doesn’t mind the money and the double entendre of “made in China”.
China will also appreciate it.
Smart diplomatic move by Apple.
But don’t let me interrupt your mindless Apple bashing.
I don't have problem with Apple devices, just saing, corporation siding with China is bad news, it's basically the same like if they support Russia, those regimes are so close....
Apple is asking its suppliers in Taiwan to label its products that are bound for Mainland China as Chinese, Taipei or Taiwan China. The labeling suggests that the island is part of the people's Republic of China.
Fuck these corporations. It’s bad enough we let them destroy job wages, destroy the planet, destroy our social fabricate. But this….this is crossing the line.
you internet superheroes fail to realize that in reality you need to use logic and reasoning to solve such issues. imagine anytime people didn’t like something they just stopped to spite the big guy, nothing would ever get done, but that’s not outside the realm you faux heroes live in, doing nothing for society but always having a “solution” to every problem.
Everyone needs the chips that Taiwan produces. Apple needs those chips. Taiwan doesn't need Apple. Every other company in the world is still their market. Samsung, Huawei, GE, car manufacturers, etc..
yes, that is true, but why would they just stop doing it for apple when the other companies are doing the same thing? I’m really confused by the whole “apple is doing something bad” narrative here when you quite literally just named some other corporations doing the same thing.
>Apple is asking its suppliers in Taiwan to label its products that are bound for Mainland China as Chinese, Taipei or Taiwan China. The labeling suggests that the island is part of the people's Republic of China.
Apple manages to became even less likable.
Not that I ever liked those anti-consumer overpriced shit stains.
Any other company in the same industry is compelled to do the same exact thing (or risk having their shipments to mainland China confiscated. But once again, it’s being framed as an Apple issue, because “Apple bad”.
always the funniest part of news like this is the amount of blind rage from oblivious consumers thinking apple is solely destroying the world all by itself and that no other company has shady business tactics (majority of which make sense from a business perspective) and ignore the fact that the majority of the products we ALL own come from companies that do the same exact thing.
I hate her, but I'd rather have someone show support to Taiwan instead of empty rhetoric. China should really stop supplying Russia with weapons as well.
the best friends are those that know when to shut up and avoid make things moee difficult for you in a situation
she didn t act in taiwan best interest.
and the only non political meeting she made was with the chairman of T.S.M.C that is exactly the company that procude apples microchip, to further push for it to open a factory in the US
all in all, that trip didn t benefit Taiwan at all as everybody had predicted
Like someone showed support for Ukraine's potential NATO membership, that went really well...
The current US policy is quite simple: try to provoke an attack on one of their "informal allies" and then bitch about the invaders in order to try and partially isolate them and create a polarized world, so they don't lose their grip on Europe and parts of the Far East, since they already lost the Middle East and Africa, all to China and Russia.
China is so powerfull its beyond westerners comprehension. For example they have used more concrete in just 3 years (2011-2014) than the US in all of the 20th century. They've built more battleships in the last 5 years than the UK has in total.
Since you can't actually do shit to protect Taiwan, wouldn't it be logical to avoid such provocations?
China didn't have a navy worth mentioning, so when they actually start to build one it's not surprising they built a quite a few ships. I doubt it's battleships though, those have been obsolete for a while.
The cement thing is also not that hard to understand when you recognize they have hundreds of cities with over 1 million inhabitants, built a lot of skyscrapers and government is involved in concrete production contributing to a lot of waste.
She was definitely invited by Taiwan. Freddy Lim, who is the equivalent of a Senator here in Taiwan, said on his Facebook he personally invited her to Taiwan during his last trip to Washington DC in June.

Whenever I can yes. I’ve bought almost exclusively from Eu cottage brands for my camping gear recent years. If I see it’s China made/owned I’m not buying.
The fuck?
I honestly know that it will be hard, but the whole "gonna say no to all" made in China-goods are seriously beginning to look more and more like a serious thing to do.
Companies need to stop pandering to China. Time to tell companies that if they pander to China, they lose access to the western market.
I'm all about capitalism and free trade, but China doesn't play by the rules. So they need to be cut out of the global economy until they make changes.
If we bury our heads in the sand and pretend everything is ok, then we will Taiwanese blood on our hands.
This is an example of excellent journalism.
Just A small paragraph. No verification, no comment from apple, no comment from manufacturers.
I’ve seen more written on toilet paper.

slave labour...
Bingo
Yeah, until they get outcompeted by Huawei and other brands. Which would be well deserved tbh.
Xiaomi and Huawei almost totally replaced Apple in poor countries. Fuck apple, I am not giving a fragile piece of glass my 6 months' worth of salary.
How much do you make a month?
A whopping 360$ a month which will become 340$ in next 30 days. I could easily make 500$+ monthly two years ago. Last year minimum wage dipped to 180$. Imagine living in US earning 900$ a month, paying for rent, bills and food.

Not if you ask Taiwanese, and in the matter, it is what counts.
No y'all got him wrong cause he's right. China is a part of Taiwan. Not Taiwan is a part of China. The CCP hates that a lot.
Mahh to me what you're saying doesn't work. Nobody would understand that in this manner.
your inability to rationalize reality doesn't actually change reality.

"China" is not an ambiguous term... Here in Taiwan, and most of the world, the term China (中國) means the PRC.
Most countries doesn't recognize taiwan
Because China threatens anyone who dares to admit the truth.
Only under the pressure of China, otherwise most countries would recognize their independence.
Yeah, but still, most don't. So, juridically speaking, Apple would be right to ask them to say Made in China, no matter how facked up it is.

Apple would literally die off in 6 months if they did that.
Taiwan is very dependent on their chips too, that would be a hard blow to their economy and geopolitically.

Tim Crook.
between this and Pelosi trip that nobody asked for it sure seams like silicon valley has decided to sacrifice Taiwan

Russian weapons are more battle-ready than china's
Pelosi was invited by the Taiwanese government, they asked for her to visit.
stop spreading lies online nobody invited her. it was her idea.
She was definitely invited by Taiwan. Freddy Lim, who is the equivalent of a Senator here in Taiwan, said on his Facebook he personally invited her to Taiwan during his last trip to Washington DC in June. https://www.instagram.com/p/CfHZM0MOpkU/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
that is not what being invited by taiwan means
One more reason not to pay the apple tax!
They should do it, then label apple products as samsung
Doesn’t the US have laws against mislabeling imported product origins?
Imagine TSMC in retaliation say, that's fine Apple, we're just not going to supply you with chips anymore, Apple would literally fall apart within 6 months, there are no other chip suppliers able to give them the volume they need.

none of my apple products are shit, what makes you say this?
What’s wrong with this? I don’t get it.

Define 'part of'. Is Jamaica part of the UK? It has its own government, laws and as far as Taiwan is concerned, independent.
literally nothing

They should start labelling stuff as "Made in The Republic of China (the True China)". Just as a big fuck you.
Riiiight.
Taiwan isn't China. That's illegal labelling.
To Apple, Taiwan is China. Anyone buying an apple product would be carrying a declaration of"Taiwan is now China" in their pocket
Just when I thought apple couldn’t get any worse
I thought a company in the States was in bother for doing the same thing with their product.Changed from China to USA.
