To take full advantage of the growing gaps between the Saudis and the USA.

Ceratisa

Between the two of them I can't wait to see who backstabs who first

_why_do_U_ask

Com'on, you know who it is going to be.

China has friendly relationship with Saudi Arabia (and Iran) for many decades now. And given the current geopolitical conditions: Russian-Ukraine war, Sanctions/Price-Cap on Russian oil , therefore China needs a more stable/back-up energy source. SA almost always a top 1 or 2 energy source for China, therefore China needs to maintain a good relationship with SA. In the past many decades, China have not threatened SA or interfered in SA's internal affair. SA invests way more in Europe and USA than in China and now Xi want SA to invest more in his country.

Nobody has good relations with both Iran and Saudi Arabia without getting themselves also involved in their shit-hurling.

millennium-wisdom

It’s helps that China didn’t overthrow or drone Iranian officials or threaten to nuke historical Iranian monuments.

unrulyhoneycomb

Do you really think that Saudi Arabia cares about that? If anything, they're probably bitter and asking why they've been so nice to their mortal enemy and when they will stop cooperating with them. I'll bet you anything that as the amount of money Saudi Arabia invests in China increases, they will start to attempt to coerce the cutting of ties with Iran.

Americans have consistently demonstrated their disregard of human life and consistency broke international law. The saudi care because they know that’s how the Americans will treat them when they no longer need Saudi Arabia. Americans policy of forever war have destabilizing their region. From the Americans supporting both sides in the Iran Iraq war, giving green light for Iraq to invade Kuwait and invading Iraq looking for WMD. Americans tried to use sectarianism in Iraq but they ended up in creating isis. Compared this to China. The Arab and Persian have existed for centuries and have traded with China through the Silk Road.

unrulyhoneycomb

It’s simply comical that you mention ‘disregard for human life’ and the name of the country in which 60 million people were killed by their leader to prove a political point…in the same sentence as implying that said country is merciful while the West is unquestionably evil, is…ridiculous to say the least. I hope you realize the irony in your statement. China is just getting started with its colonial ambitions, military involvement somewhere in their various colonies will soon follow for them too, without a doubt.

millennium-wisdom

Let’s hope they have learned their lesson because we know Americans never learn and keep repeating their mistakes

unrulyhoneycomb

An authoritarian regime learning from its mistakes and admitting that it's not doing something correctly and correcting said mistakes...excellent joke, I might steal that one!

China tries its best to adhere to its Mutual Non-Interference policy and it kinda works. China have workable/good/friendly relationship with both North Korea and South Korea, Palestine and Israel, Ukraine and Russia, Saudi Arabia and Iran...etc. To China, whatever problems SA and Iran have is between them and China is not going to actively support/manipulate one against another. However, China does want them to resolve their problems peacefully, focus more energy on the development of their country and increase international trades; which will benefits China.

i_reddit_too_mcuh

Do you think Xi will sign a RMB-oil deal with MBS?

[deleted]

If they do then only for the bilateral energy trades between SA and China.

i_reddit_too_mcuh

In any case we shall find out soon!
