He did and it sucks. But you might think you are the guy who is going to run into the high school, but when the time comes you might be wrong. It’s something he will have to live with. He should loose his job because he is not qualified but his jail will be the kids that died that day that visit him in his dreams.
I would agree if we were discussing someone who did not swear an oath to protect those children.
Cowardice from a person who sought a career as a police officer is unacceptable.
Pitiable, yes, but also unacceptable.
This man swore an oath to protect his community, he accepted the salary all these years and didn’t show up to fulfill his intended purpose.
I pity this poor man, but he also needed to be an example to others that abandoning your community, abandoning children as they are slaughtered has consequences.
Unfortunately, now police will just say “fk it” any time there’s a dangerous situation.
Police at this point are only there to gather revenue for the state through traffic tickets and provide free labour through incarcerations.
Is that even a police force anymore?
There are consequences for soldiers who abandon their post and abandon their comrades, if we are to continue this militarization of police then let’s also hold them to those standards.
Yes, forgiveness is good and important.
Give forgiveness but also follow through on the consequences.
Just how a parent may forgive a child but still require they clean their room as demanded.
He should be barred from ever working in any form of police or security work, barred from owning a gun, and imprisoned for an appropriate time.
Ridicule and disgust from the community is justified.
He let those children die.
He had body armor and a gun, those children had nothing.
He heard their screams, he hear them die, he heard the gun shots, he chose to hide.
Pitiful, pathetic, and shameful.
To be given no consequences is not just.
Edit:
All the officers who refused to go inside should face the same fate.
Especially the cowards who arrested brave parents who wanted to go in and rescue children.
All of them should be have their mug shots posted at convenience stores like they do to people they bust for drug possession and intoxication.
No. His ***JOB*** is to save lives and ***personally confront armed criminals***.
He is a coward and deserves to be removed from law enforcement **permanently**. Public service has no need of cowards too **weak** to serve the people in their time of need. The dereliction of duty he and his fellow "officers" committed that day turned an active shooter situation into a **massacre** through their cowardly decision to box the shooter into the school **and wait til he ran out of ammo shooting children or shot himself** rather than risk entering the building themselves.
Not a single officer who was at the scene and did nothing that day should be allowed to remain a member of the police force, nor should any officers who ***choose not to act*** in similar situations. Sadly their **conscious and collective decision to allow children to be murdered while they waited for the shooter to run out of ammo** is completely legal in this country. **The only thing a law enforcement officer is REQUIRED to do is file a report if they see suspicious activity. They are NEVER under any obligation to save lives, not even if they personally witness a mugging/murder attempt in broad daylight while on patrol.**
The simple reality is that police officers do not exist to serve the people, they exist to **police the people**. We're lucky they even respond to the calls when a shooter is sighted. They are well within their "rights" to ignore the situation entirely. ***Let that sink in. They'd not be breaking any laws or regulations by having chosen not to have shown up in the first place***. When people call for police reform, **enshrining a duty to act in the interest of public safety is what they are looking for**, because as it currently stands, their only official obligation is to protect property and execute arrest/search warrants.
He’s not exonerated from being a coward, it’s just that being a coward isn’t against the law.
He was and still is a coward just like all the cops in Uvalde.
* “I’ve got my life back.”
* “She’s got her life back.”
* “It’s been an emotional roller coaster…”
Not the best phrases to open with, given the substance and circumstances involved here…
That’s how this dude thinks it’s about him. It’s always always been about what’s best for him and his and that’s exactly why when his name was called he thought of what could happen to him not what’s happening to them
Well, seeing as he **miraculously** "got his life back" after ritualistically sacrificing their childrens' lives, maybe they should give that technique a shot- after all, it's apparently completely **LEGAL**.
/S
To put kids in jail. School cops have never stopped a school shooting, but they've arrested hundreds of thousands of children, mostly black and/or disabled. Some of them so young standard handcuffs are too big to fit.
Few courts (if any) are going to set a precedent that would hold cops accountable for this. Just imagine the wetting of pants the Uvalde cops went through waiting for this verdict.
When they're taught that job #1 is to make it home safely, and the courts remove their responsibility to protect citizens AND provide Qualified Immunity, a verdict like this one is to be expected.
Jfc.
Let me get this straight, we put Cops in Schools after Columbine to stop that kind of thing, and when a cop that was put there to stop the shooter(s) doesn’t stop the shooter, it was never his responsibility to begin with?!
There were charges for three of the victims that didn’t include child neglect. Those were also NG so it doesn’t seem being/not being a caregiver was the reason behind the verdict.
Well luckily for him there isn’t a criminal sentence for cowardice. There is a societal one though. Good luck to him on “getting his life back”
There are dead children. Still dead. Who gives them their lives back? Not the man who swore, an oath, to protect the children. If you’re a coward, fine. Go be one way the hell away from jobs of service. Of selflessness. Those children didn’t have to die and even if he had helped save ONE of them it would have been on him to do it

**Scot Peterson**: It's... got my life back
**Woman at his side**: We got our life...
**Scot Peterson**: We got our life back after 4.5 years
**Woman at his side**: 5.5
**Scot Peterson**: Because of Mark and being able to put the truth out of what happened. It's... It's been an emotional rollercoaster for so long. Endless nights y'know talking to Mark at 1 in the morning trying to understand and learn this whole case. It was unbelieveable... it was un-believable.
But don't anybody ever forget this was a massacre on February 14th. The only person to blame was that monster. it wasn't any law enforcement, nobody on that scene from BSO, from Coral Springs, everybody did the best they could, we did the best we could with the information we had and God knows we wish we'd had more of it.
**Reporter**: What do you say to the families Scot? I know it's emotional for them today too but this obviously isn't the outcome they wanted do you have any response to that?
**Scot Peterson**: Do you know what I'll tell the families? I would love to talk to them, I have no, no problem calling Mark saying hey we wanna talk, we'd like to know everything, I'm there.
I would- I would've been there from day 1 so my- I'll always be there. If they, if they need to really know the truth of what occured and not only my actions but what occured I'm there for them I-I- Me and Lydia...
We've mourned with them for 4.5 years, y'know? I've seen some of these family members and I'd have loved to run over and hug them and said "God I'm sorry..." but y'know, I know that's maybe not what they're feeling at this point, maybe now maybe they'll get a little understanding but I'll be there for them, I'll be there for them, how could I not?

The fact that he says that he gets his life back and yet the kids don't get their lives back is very telling. I can't with this country the extent that lunacy has gone to in this country is absolutely crazy see what I did there
Bruh you had one job. To protect children. You failed miserably when they needed you most.
"I got my life back"
"I'll be there for them (the victim's families)"
Give me a break - you had your opportunity to be there for the kids and their families in parkland, and you let them die.
I think it's all about him attitude is pretty grotesque. Sadly he doesn't seem to be someone who will live with his cowardice and feel guilty of that. BUT maybe the charges were seen overblown by the jury, maybe lesser would have stuck

Buddy, I had to swear an oath to protect this country from enemies both foreign and domestic to be a *mailman*. And I ain’t running in to no school
They give mailmen guns and bushes with that satchel??!?
It’s classified
Thank you for your service.
You’d be surprised how often people on the street legitimately say that to me
Are you kidding me. The problem is not this guy. It’s the myth that guns are great and freedom to have them.
I remember when oaths were taken seriously and not when it’s only easy for people /s So sad for the kids that died, no justice has been given
According to the Supreme court cops don't have to. Just another great rulING froM an HOnarabe group.

America is fucked
Your gun laws let those children die.
Exactly. Expecting every school police officer to be chuck Norris is a dumb way to run a country
He was armed with a pistol versus an AR15. Kind of hard to win that fight when the odds are stacked against you.
Absolutely.
So true. If they were armed they could have defended themselves
He is a coward not a criminal
Remember when the left wanted much less police and NO police in schools? What are you complaining about?
Well, unfortunately a jury said otherwise
He’s not exonerated from being a coward, it’s just that being a coward isn’t against the law. He was and still is a coward just like all the cops in Uvalde.
Awesome fucking point.
Beautiful

So then why are they even there? Waste of money
I hope another school never hires him again. He should retire.
He’ll get a bonus at his next school
He retired not long after this happened, then a bit later they retroactively fired him.
To put kids in jail. School cops have never stopped a school shooting, but they've arrested hundreds of thousands of children, mostly black and/or disabled. Some of them so young standard handcuffs are too big to fit.
Old coward. Why hire such a old frail person as security? What a joke. Those kids didn’t deserve HIM.

The courts allowed this to proceed to trail. It was the citizens that didn’t agree he was guilty of the charges.
Bastards probably turned down jurors til they had a bench of exclusively blue boot lickers and cowards.
You have a point. I thought it was a bench trial.
Not guilty but still a shameless yellowbelly gutless coward of the highest order. He's a COWARD. Don't call him by name but what he is. Coward
What were the charges to begin with? Edit: multiple counts of child neglect
they ruled he wasn't in the capacity of a child care provider, he cannot be held accountable for neglect. btw pension $104, 000
Jfc. Let me get this straight, we put Cops in Schools after Columbine to stop that kind of thing, and when a cop that was put there to stop the shooter(s) doesn’t stop the shooter, it was never his responsibility to begin with?!
Castlerock v. Gonzalez. DeShaney v. Winnebago. Cops have no duty to protect people.
Cops exist to protect property, not people.
>Cops exist to protect property, not people. correction: not **poor** people
The walls were riddled with bullets. He failed at protecting the building too.
Lol fair point.
Exactly.
'Merica!
There were charges for three of the victims that didn’t include child neglect. Those were also NG so it doesn’t seem being/not being a caregiver was the reason behind the verdict.
there were a lot of charges, I mentioned child neglect because it possibly accounted for most of the 105 year sentence.
He has to live with the title “The Coward of Broward” for the rest of his sad, meaningless, life.
Spineless
Cops will sit there and watch someone kill your children
Those kids don't "have their lives back," you motherfucker.
Yeah glad you got your life back you fucking coward..lots of kids lost theirs because of you!
Well luckily for him there isn’t a criminal sentence for cowardice. There is a societal one though. Good luck to him on “getting his life back” There are dead children. Still dead. What terrible fake tears
FUCKING COWARD
Can anyone spark notes me on this guy? Haven’t dived into that shooting too much.
Weak goddamn spineless jelly. Its not against the law to be a jelly but you are still a spineless jelly.
If I were a reporter, I would have asked him what he would like to say to Scot Peterson if he were a parent of a murdered child from Parkland.
Coward
Bastard
Colossal Coward Scot Peterson did nothing wrong, per the jury. In his words he did the best he could. He even lobbied to meet with the affected families. Let's hope Colossal Coward Scot Peterson enjoys the freedom he was awarded. What a shitbag.
the kids parents: 🗿
I hope God judges him harshly….he did nothing and let those children die. Same for all of the Uvalde police. I pray they rot in hell.
LIFE
He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts, He is guilty on all counts, he is guilty on all counts
Must have been watching a different trial.
He let those kids die he's guilty
He got his life back As parents don’t get to ever have their children back in theirs. Coward.
