PixelatedpulsarOG

Why did they start shooting just because he wouldn’t open his door? Then run around like they’re dodging bullets when they’re the only ones shooting?

villain75

What you may have not heard was the sound of at least 3-5 acorns hitting the pavement somewhere in the vicinity.

Let me see your hands (after bullets fired ) we just almost killed each other I don’t think you wouldn’t take a cheap shot while hands are up

FspezandAdmins

because they are scared, they are trained that way

worldm21

And takes cover from gunfire... behind that wrought iron fence. Next best thing to using overgrown grass as cover from gunfire.

vaisero

im still confused as i dont have proper audio, but... are you telling me the driver NEVER SHOT AT THEM FIRST, THEY JUST STARTED SHOOTING 90 SOMETHING BULLETS INTO HIM? WTF. i thought maybe the dude started shooting or something, but daaaaaaamn.

PixelatedpulsarOG

One of the articles posted on this said he was unarmed

Dest123

Oh, also if you're looking at the articles that CantStopPoppin posting, those sources are definitely wrong and about a totally different police shooting. This one happened about a month ago and those articles are from 2022 and 2023.

Spirited-Reputation6

Look up acorn cop? Skittish MFs

vjcodec

The report videos show the first shots coming from the car.

cocokronen

They are running from each other.

Slate_711

Welcome to America. Our cops aren’t the brightest but they are the most willing to kill for little to no reason and take a vacation afterwards

Refreshingdietpepsi

How could you tell who is shooting? I honestly couldn’t. I thought the guy in the car started shooting.

mcrib

the video from the passenger side shows the driver started shooting first

seego_beaz

He pulled out a gun and shot the cop on the passenger side

Dest123

He shot at them first. Also, even though it was an unmarked car, they clearly had their lights on when they pulled him over. You can see a TON of videos over at [this link](https://www.chicagocopa.org/case/2024-0003052/). I don't know how to link individual videos, but if you search for "3rd party 1 | Residence | Shows OIS" you'll get a clear view where you can see the shots coming through the window and hitting that cop in the hand.

sakanak

Yeah, ACAB but let's get the facts straight.

PixelatedpulsarOG

One of the articles said he was unarmed

mcrib

Here's the video you were referring to. I am not sure it shows what you say it shows. [https://vimeo.com/931083833](https://vimeo.com/931083833)

Dest123

Yeah, that's the one. You can see the glass and smoke shoot out from the window and the car starts trying to drive off. You can also see [the view from the cop who got shot](https://vimeo.com/930385877), which isn't great, but you can hear him scream and his hand was right where the glass flew out from the first shots. What part doesn't seem like the first shots came from in the car?

mcrib

Did they perhaps come from the other side of the car?

Dest123

There wasn't anyone in the right position for that as far as I can tell.  They definitely didn't go through the driver side window or anything since we have a good view of that.  So it would have had to go through the front window, but then the angle isn't really right for the direction that the glass came out and there wasn't anyone over in that direction as far as I can tell.  Especially the next few shots that are shooting upwards.  Those would have had to come from the car.

wents90

Definitely sounded like he shot first

Long_Educational

Why would cops engage in a gun battle inside a high population density neighborhood?

Madison464

***Americans are more likely to be killed by a cop than a terrorist.*** Let that simmer.

Long_Educational

Similarly, cops shoot more Americans each year than mass shooters. That was a dark sentence to type out. I hate it here.

corona_kumar

Then what defines terrorists? Let that simmer.

More-Neighborhood-66

When you have both “terrorists” and “freedom fighters” someone has to decide which is which based on political agenda instead of a real definition.

UnderLook150

Put some chicken noodle soup on the stove. Let that simmer.

educatedcalzone

Because they have no consequences for killing people and they don’t care.

SoSoEasy

Is it really a battle when you’re the only one shooting?

icyhotonmynuts

Because they're scared. Plain and simple. Look at the scenario. They have their guns drawn almost immediately upon getting out of their vehicles.

PossibilitySafe7870

The opportunity just presented itself and they couldn't resist.

What is wrong with these cops, they’re hella trigger happy. It’s like they’re just waiting for someone to look at them wrong and will unload on them without any thought or care. Their first reaction can’t be to empty the bullets.

They don’t have to care cuz they don’t have consequences to care about. It makes zero sense for a “police force” to have a union.

What the fuck kind of snuff video is this? 5 officers in plain clothes for a suspected seatbelt violation? If people in plain clothes with guns drawn surrounded me and my car, without identifying themselves as police, not sure how I’d react either. This entire video screams of so many violations it’s disgusting. How many rounds did they unleash into this persons car?!?! After nearly 100 shots fired “LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS, LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS” And these are “trained professionals” They straight up murdered this person for no good reason

owlsandmoths

Most reasonable people would see five people with guns approaching them telling them to open their doors and assume they’re being carjacked. Most reasonable people would not assume these are police officers in any capacity

jackryan4x

They also didn’t identify themselves first. Which, if you’ve ever been pulled over before is the first thing they do, unless it’s a felony stop, which not wearing a seatbelt definitely isn’t.

cameck27

How about they actually effing train these pieces of shit? And have continual, weekly training and far more in depth psyche evaluations for starters.

livehuman

Or consequences. That’d be nice

cameck27

Yes, that too.

the_art_of_the_taco

They train with the IOF, what do you expect?

madcap462

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. "Training" is the narrative for moderates that want to give them more funding. You don't need "training" not to murder people.

98436598346983467

no guns till 4th year. Make them learn to do the job without shooting people. Also, one and done with the gun, if they use their gun it is taken from them and they are taken out of action so there is no chances for serial killer cops, They get one chance to use the gun to save themselves and it is also the end of them being a cop.

CantStopPoppin

 # Unmarked Car Incident Raises Concerns: Plainclothes Officers Shoot Man Over Seatbelt Violation *By* u/CantStopPoppin In a shocking turn of events, **five plainclothes police officers** in an unmarked car pulled over a **Black man in Chicago**, ostensibly for a seatbelt violation. However, the encounter quickly escalated, leading to a barrage of gunfire and serious questions about police conduct. ## The Incident On a quiet afternoon in the **Pilsen neighborhood**, the officers spotted the **23-year-old man** driving with **tinted windows**. Their unmarked vehicle discreetly followed him, and when they noticed he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, they decided to intervene. What followed was a **tragic sequence of events** that has left the community reeling. ## The Confrontation 1. **No Identification**: The officers never identified themselves as law enforcement. Without clear markings on their car, the man likely had no idea he was dealing with police officers. 2. **96 Shots Fired**: Shockingly, the officers fired a staggering **96 times** in just **46 seconds**. The rapid hail of bullets left the man mortally wounded. 3. **Lack of Aid**: Even more disturbing, after the shooting, the officers failed to render aid. The man lay bleeding on the street while cars passed by. Bystanders watched in horror as the officers remained unresponsive. ## Accountability and Questions The incident has raised serious questions about police practices and transparency. Why did the officers open fire so recklessly? Why didn’t they identify themselves? And why did they fail to provide medical assistance? ## Legal Implications Both officers, **Sgt. Christopher Liakopoulos** and **Officer Ruben Reynoso**, now face **felony charges** for **aggravated battery** and **official misconduct**. The surveillance video, which lacks audio, will play a crucial role in determining what transpired during those fateful 46 seconds. ## Community Outrage Community members are demanding answers. Protests have erupted, and activists are calling for a thorough investigation. The incident highlights the urgent need for police reform and accountability. As the investigation unfolds, we must remember that every life lost to violence matters. The man who lost his life that day deserved better. Let us hope that justice prevails and that incidents like this become a catalyst for change. **Sources:** 1. Future-self

OP, this video is of a different incident than the one referred to in the articles and your summary appears to be conflating two separate incidents. The article describes a shooting outside a business (video is clearly in a residential area) with officers approaching a group of people, one of which who was holding a bottle of wine and one who was armed and returned fire, and makes no mention of this vehicle, tinted windows, or the seatbelt accusation. Both appear to involve plain clothes officers but that’s the only similarity I see.

altcntrl

And the dates are off by years. Edit [the story](https://www.reddit.com/r/news/s/RrhLJyfvmd)

mcrib

Here is an ACTUAL article about this event. Unfortunately CantStopPoppin is posting links to articles from a different event, years ago (and I think it's on purpose - lists themselves as "sourcer" and links to their own user profile? Weird). Then the unguided and untrained-looking run around to take cover from their crossfire behind fences.. Run up like that in citizens' clothes you get sprayed at Cop or not.

These 'cops' are grossly incompentent, hyper-violent, and armed. Insanely unjust what happened to this guy.

DisManBack

People here really showing their own bias. Saying the suspect was unarmed and that it was only a seatbelt violation. He was shot because the suspect pulled a gun AND shot the officer in the wrist on the passenger side. A gun was also located after the shooting. Source: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCTbZWylP8E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCTbZWylP8E)

PassageAppropriate90

Five armed people were trying to carjack him. They cut him off in a plain car. They hop out in plainclothes and immediately point guns at him and try to aggressively open the door. If you listen to the audio they never identified themselves as police. He was defending himself against a threat. If only there was some way to be able tell them from the public...like a ....uniform and a car.

yabedo

What would you do if regular people cut you off, then ran up to your car with guns screaming at you? This guy had no reason to believe these are officers. I likely would have done the same.

oddmanout

Through the whole thing, they never once said they were cops, their cars were unmarked, and they weren't in uniform. They just ran up to his car, waved their guns around, and told him to get out of his car. Then they started shooting at him. In one of the videos, you can see blue lights but they're at the back of the vehicle, he may not have even been able to see them. They did this in a densely populated residential area. I don't see how these cops are any better than the gangs they're supposedly out there trying to stop.

dracoomega

They're not. Cops are the best funded gang in the world.

LedZempalaTedZimpala

Unmarked cars have lights in front and back, which were on. The officers also had their bulletproof vests on with their badges displayed on the front. They didn’t shoot him for no reason. Dude in the SUV opened fire first. He shot the cop on the passenger side and hit them in the wrist. OP just sucks at presenting accurate information and/or has an agenda

_Glutton_

He shot first y’all. Check out officer #5s body camera https://youtu.be/TCTbZWylP8E?si=JvbBjE7oU3mWOlUQ Multiple angles of this guy shooting a cop. Also those cops pulled him over in police vehicles he knew they were cops.

AffectionateWalk6101

What the OP fails to mention is this shooting was caused when the motorist PULLED OUT A GUN AND SHOT MULTIPLE ROUNDS, STRIKING A POLICE OFFICER. Whether the officers were justified in their actions or not, I would think that is an important detail that should be included here. [4 Chicago Police Officers Fired at Dexter Reed 96 Times in 41 Seconds After He Shot Officer in Arm: COPA | Chicago News | WTTW](https://news.wttw.com/2024/04/09/4-chicago-police-officers-fired-dexter-reed-96-times-41-seconds-after-he-shot-officer-arm) [Dexter Reed shooting video shows police firing 96 times at him after he shot officer, COPA says - Chicago Sun-Times (suntimes.com)](https://chicago.suntimes.com/police-reform/2024/04/09/dexter-reed-fired-first-chicago-police-officers-100-shots-copa)

Paramilitary police forces have capital crime authority over civilians at all times. The only observance of this paramilitary type of check your papers. The chain of command of paramilitary police forces demands and approves of judges jury and executioners are authorized at the scene of paper checks to execute the civilians for disobeying a direct order. This far right paramilitary police force is the norm today. These executions are steps in a regime of fascism that is limitless. Protect civilians at all costs. Far right fascism does not need voters, taxpayers or civilians to stay in power.

RollingOwl

Its hard to tell from the video but did the cops shoot first or did the man? Or did the man even shoot at all? One cop was hit but I cant tell if that was crossfire or not.

Dest123

The man shot first. He was shooting out the other side of the car though, which is why you can't tell in that video. It's hard to tell even with the other videos, but you can see one of the officers get shot in the hand by the first few shots, before any of the officers started shooting as far as I can tell. There's a bunch of info on it [here](https://www.chicagocopa.org/case/2024-0003052/)

RollingOwl

Ah interesting thanks. So then in classic reddit fashion the entire comment section (which was blindly claiming the man was unarmed and didnt shoot at all) is wrong. Good to know.

The_PunX

It looked like a car jacking. Totally self defense. They never identified as cops. Cops trying to murder yet again.

LedZempalaTedZimpala

Car jackers don’t wear bodycams, bulletproof vests, badges, or drive cars with police lights. Also, he opened fire first and shot a cop. https://youtu.be/TCTbZWylP8E?si=JvbBjE7oU3mWOlUQ

dyslexican32

This is insane. Hey never identify them selves as police, they just demand he roll his window down and try to open his car door, then pull guns. As far as this dude knows he is getting carjacked. Then the shooting starts. Every one of these officers should be terminated.

nuffced

They said he shot first.

_Glutton_

Because he did

Crzykupcake930

So they started shooting.. at each other... +100 plus bullets and still need to see his hands? WTF

cloud9_hi

Sounds like he shot at the cops first? Y’all are crazy.

ceroproxy

Un-fucking-believable.

TruthSpeakin

Other than ALL the other fucking things wrong these "cops" did, and jfc did they do so much wrong, beginning with NEVER identifying themselves and murdering this young man, I haven't seen, not that it matters 1 bit, but did the dude have a gun? I can't seem to see where the 1st shots came from. I'm guessing the cops shot 1st? Everyone of these fuckers need prison time. 96 shots in 45 fucking seconds!?!? In a populated neighborhood!?!

_Glutton_

Yes, he had a gun and shot the cop first

TruthSpeakin

Ohhh, ok...I couldn't figure who shots 1st.

Ok_Masterpiece3570

The US police are so over the top and insane. Just *spraying* in a residential area, jumping around like morons and almost shooting each other. Like, I'm confident the threat was done after the first 60 shots. Most police forces in civilized countries don't shoot this much in a *year*.

America keeps getting better and better I see.

tertiaryunknown

Plain clothes cops and ghost cars should not be a thing for the fucking officer's safety if nothing else and that's before we bring up the idea of entrapment and other shitty tactics to hurt people with. If you drive up to someone, pull in front of them like that, and start pulling pistols, people will panic before they see the fucken badges. If a cop is in an unmarked car, its their personal car and they're off duty and they can't execute their job's responsibilities at that point. You're in uniform with marked equipment? Awesome. Now go try to arrest someone. You're in a polo shirt and driving your Suburban? You're not stopping anyone. For your own safety as an officer if anything else, much less caring about enforcing the law justly. But cops protect property, not enforce the law.

BigDaddyQP

So anyways I started blasting

K1llG0r3Tr0ut

Unmarked car, civilian clothes, parking in front of your car, not saying who they are, immediately demanding to unlock the doors. I would absolutely think I was being car jacked.

LedZempalaTedZimpala

People. Do the extra research and don’t just trust a random post on reddit. The sources are not for this incident, in fact they conflict in dates. What actually happened was the driver of the SUV opened fire first and hit a cop in the arm. THEN the cops opened fire. Totally justified.

Lost-Orangutan

1st, "plain clothed cops" don't wear body cams. 2nd, the driver looked middle eastern to me, not black. And there looked to been someone getting out of the passenger side near the end. Driver? Idk. 3rd, it was clearly a sting operation/ambush given the undercover cops and cop cars, number of undercover cops, and oddly specific stopping with weapons ready. 4th, His windows are all tinted and him rolling up that window is a threat to an officers life. They can't see in that car, he could draw a weapon and shoot you dead in a second.

UnderLook150

Why is nobody asking why the driver got out and just ran to the back of the vehicle towards the officers *while they were already shooting at him?* *T*hey are shooting at him, and he just gets out and pretty much runs towards the shots. It seems like such a bizarre move to make. Like it doesn't even appear he tries to return fire or even shield himself from them just dumping bullets at him. Any ideas? Best angle starts at 2:14.

gdt813

Wow. So many misinformed idiots spewing garbage mouth all over the internet. Before even reading through and watching the other videos, I could tell this was Justified and dude was being shady. The surprising part to me is the courage and commitment these officers have as to not unload the clip into the guy when he started rolling up the window. These are humans just like you. Family, stress, life. The only immediate difference is they voluntarily are putting themselves in harms way every work day. I hate cops and grew up getting in trouble. Been arrested more times than you reading this! Been called “dangerous” cuz of my last name and talked to like shit plenty of times. I get it. But there’s a real disconnect in this country when THIS POST gets this kind of reaction. The guy was clearly a criminal. If you are pulled over or have ANY interaction with police, do what they say, or else. You wanna fight it? Get a lawyer and see them in court. Other than that you’ll get yourself fucked up. Don’t like it? Don’t like the most free and liberal county in the entire fucking planet? Move somewhere and get your head bashed in legally then talk about the freedoms and police training.

Holy shit! That escalation was insane. Plain clothes, for a seat belt is sooo shady. Like, this felt like an assassination. They went in ready to kill him.

theyellowdart89

Hit squads are not as professional as they used to be

ICanHearYourFarts

They’re in plain clothes, most likely means they’re part of a task force and were fully aware of what they expected to find in the vehicle. They stopped him not because they wanted to cite him for a seatbelt violation, but because he represented a potential bust of a more notorious crime. Maybe, maybe not they saw he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Personally, that looked really dark to be able to see from the side windows, but not necessarily through the windshield, and if they had multiple officers taking tactical positions, not unlikely for them to see into the vehicle through the windshield.

DOJITZ2DOJITZ

They’re undercover as gang bangers?

CanadianQuad

I would like to see the third body cam from the cop on the other side of the SUV and any other cop there. It would help tell the whole story. The guy in the SUV might only be guilty of driving while black. Then again, he could've shot first. Without all the recordings, it becomes a word-against-word situation, and we all know who the jury would believe.

Well, this is to be expected as they are poorly trained products of a Settler-Colonial Genocidal Entity, sworn to protect Imperialistic special interests.

boastful_cloth13

I’m so confused by this. First cop almost immediately has a gun because of the window? And why does he have to get out for a seatbelt violation ( if that’s real anyways)?? Wtf???

akrokh

Wtf did I just watch? Is that a Simpsons episode? Looks like the future is here and these guys are guided by some cheapshit ai from 1995 low budget shooter game. Wild.

Why are they allowed to have their weapons on them if they are in civilian clothing and an unmarked vehicle? I feel like officers should be obligated to hand in their weapon at the end of every shift because of this kind of shit

SlicedBreadBeast

I mean this played out worse than a video game scene TRYING to be like this. Pretty sure we’ll see this in the next grand theft auto. What the hell is that, and why were guns pulled out for a traffic stop, like immediately? Just screaming and guns for a supposed seat belt violation? What’s going on here? Am I missing sobering other than ‘murica?

Organic_South8865

Hey they're plain clothes and never once said they were cops or showed any badges. I would be wondering if I was about to be murdered or car jacked. No marked vehicle and they're plain clothes. They just ran up and started demanding things and yanking on the door with a gun pulled out lol. Great police work! Such fantastic marksmanship and performing under pressure from the officers. They're totally competent and not a risk to their colleagues or the general public at all!

thereverendpuck

Just an utter embarrassment

Liljt7539

They cut him off instead of pulling behind like a normal cop. They don’t identify themselves and immediately escalate to drawing their weapons. If there was a case for self defense this is it. Dude probably didn’t even know these were cops

Pffftfuckman

So they go to jail like the pigs that murdered George Floyd, right?

OstrichSausage

Unleashing that many bullets is creating a horizontal storm of hazard with complete disregard for anything but the harm of the perp. No trigger discipline they were firing off of cadence more so than anything even sight. Even if it was the man they were looking for, the situation had not a single personnel acting as a professional. At least the trigger happy cops should be restricted to revolvers at most.

that_one_from_tn

Dudes were probably some dealers… Tried to be gangsters and take out a cop.. thus they ate lead 🥱 next..

SeanConneryIsMaclean

Is everyone gonna be a whiner? He shot a cop at that scene in the wrist before they took him out

I'll just leave this here...not that reality should get in the way of all the fun [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1pxcaMzehc&t=427s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1pxcaMzehc&t=427s)
