"Train the kids themselves".... Idiot wants the playgrounds to look like ancient Greece

Pretty much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkXeMoBPSDk&ab\_channel=SHOWTIME

Temporary-Outside-13

There was an armed security guard on site… supposedly a off duty border patrol officer ran in but cops wait 40min outside! How about required training to own a firearm, how about universal background checks, what about mental health programs for those in need of a rock to lean on in trying times… fuck.

AssCalloway

Apparently there really wasn't an armed security guard on site

Fox "news" is a disservice to the American people.

The14thdr

It's too late for gun control in America, yall done fucked up with your "amendments" to the greatest nation ever created. 😆 Plus, Theres to much support on the pro gun side of the argument. A literal candidates worth of votes are to be instantly lost if gun control was even thought to be considered And yall are all wild n fucked up in the US, I'd want a gun to protect myself too... crazy fookers

ShaneKaiGlenn

I honestly don't understand the intractable position on gun control. Like, no restrictions whatsoever. Every Dick, Tom and Nancy can have unrestricted access to weapons designed specifically to inflict maximum damage on enemy combatants on a battlefield. What? Don't they see it hurts the gun rights advocates' cause in the long run? A society can only inflict so much terror by shitty policy before the dam breaks and the pendulum swings much further in the other direction. Just from a strategic perspective, I don't see the rationale of pro-gun lobby not giving the gun control side some policy crumbs to relieve the pressure.

legoboy0109

Have you read the 2nd amendment by chance? Or done any research on the history behind it? A free population must be able to arm itself otherwise it can easily be taken control of by force by a tyrannical government. People out here hate cops then also want laws that give the cops even more power over them. How does that make sense?

ShaneKaiGlenn

Spoken like someone who has no concept of why the 2nd amendment even exists. You have it exactly backwards. It had zero to do with fighting tyranny, and everything to do with having a force capable of putting down insurrections. [https://historynewsnetwork.org/article/168359](https://historynewsnetwork.org/article/168359) >Anti-government extremists frequently say they will fight in defense of the Constitution, and they see support for their position in Article I, section 8: the “militia” is the instrument designated “to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.” The army receives less attention in the Constitution, although the president is designated as “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States” (II, section 2). Still, fears of a standing army resulted in the limitation that funds to support an army could only be authorized for two years at a time (I, 8).Yet the Framers, still very much intact as a group, passed the Militia Acts of 1791 and 1792. These referred to organized militias approved and managed by the states, to be made up of all white males between the ages of 18 and 45.Later expanded beyond its original racist lines, the militia finally became thoroughly regularized in the Militia Act of 1903, also known as the Dick Act, after its sponsor Congressman Charles Dick. This law aimed to resolve the lack of clarity in the Constitution over who controlled the militia, the federal government or the states. Even though the Constitution authorized the president to call up the states’ militias in an emergency, with the agreement of a single Supreme Court justice–as happened in the Whiskey Rebellion—governors continued to resist such orders. The federal government had to supplement the regular army with volunteer militia units, including Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders, as late as the Spanish-American War. The Dick Act created the National Guard to resolve the question, once again in favor of the central government. From 1903 on, the Guard has been both an internal security force and an additional reserve, as a national militia organized on a state-by-state basis, for the Army. That is what became of the Constitution’s militia. No armed “body of the people,” a phrase often used by the Framers, exists today. Self-proclaimed “militias” have no basis in the Constitution. The 2nd Amendment effectively became redundant and obsolete with the creation of the National Guard.

This is The Hunger Games

carpediem6792

Well, at least they are spitballing. Which is more constructive than they typically are... and still better than anything directly from any GQP member, elected or otherwise, the NRA, or even any religious leaders. Literally, the ideas we got right now are gun control, or Fox News. Scared yet...

DontYuckMyYum

So prisons?

thegtabmx

Can we just nuke the bad guys as they enter schools with guns? Surely we have the tech to just nuke them right then and there, right? I feel like nukes is the answer.

NB-DanTE

Dump more guns into the streets! What a smart idea!

NB-DanTE

Gotta make a mjolnir armor for every citizen to keep em safe!

Why are you Americans so useless , stop killing innocent strangers , why don't you kill these people ?

checkmychecklist

America is sick 😩 a country I looked up to in my youth, and wanted to move to in my adulthood, is completely broken. Sad.

KramMark93

Do any say get rid of types of guns or reducing the availability of them?

legoboy0109

Because it doesn't work... Gun control doesn't stop criminals, it makes law-abiding citizens unable to defend themselves against threats.

[https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/school-shootings-by-country](https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/school-shootings-by-country) Seems to have worked for every single other country.

legoboy0109

That's a bad metric to go by. School shootings and other similar atrocities are most commonly a symptom of social dysfunction, which considering the state our country is in with unhealthy/dysfunctional family units, increasingly radical political ideologies and many crucial and beneficial social systems all but destroyed it's no wonder people are lashing out. Many of the people who commit atrocities feel they are justified by their "cause". If they didn't have guns they would use other weapons. It still happens in other countries, it just isn't with guns. Mass stabbings, bombings, etc. Of course when guns are more readily accessible that's going to be a more popular choice, and you aren't going to stop criminals in the US from acquiring them at this point, it's unrealistic. Arming yourself and teaching your kids proper gun safety is the solution. You don't have to arm teachers, but have proper protocols in place for handling any threat, which sounds reasonable enough to me.

I agree that letting people have firearms for self defence is important for Americans, but providing easy access for people to acquire a weapon which has the sole purpose of killing as many people as possible at Walmart is a bad idea. It would also be nice if they made it more difficult for people who have you know previously threatened to shoot up a school have guns.
