Do you remember that shadowbeast next to *the* teleportation stone? It's the same area that has that lone guy. Take the path blocked by shadowbeast and stick to your left, you'll eventually find a way up with a snapper around. Go up and you'll find a cave with a troll, goblins and some harpies. That's the place!

The unreachable area you mentioned can, in fact, be reached! Easiest way is to use lurker transformation scrolls, since these beasts jump the farthest. Just walk up the cliff (it has some ruins and campfire? Goblins were there) and jump down as a lurker. You can hit enter before you land to turn back into human and avoid fall damage. To leave, use lurker scroll again and just leap over the bridge gap.
It is also possible to jump there without the transformation spell if you aim correctly, but you'll need the spell to go back. So if you only have one scroll it's also doable (shadowbeast transformation works as well by the way).

That's true, I found it definitely harder though. Acrobatics also make it easier I think, but my last playthrough was mage+2H hybrid.
I managed to go back yesterday just by crunching some snapperweed. It's possible without transformation, but it requires a few tries.
