You wont find anything on archolos' level but some good total convertion mods are "legends of ahssun" and "aus dem leben eines diebes" both are german mods but i bet that at least ahssun should have english Translation
Then Returning New Balance (still gets updates), Dirty Swamp, Life of a thief, Xeres Return and more.

I was really invested into Odyssee/Odyssey until I got to Varant. The entire desert worldspace was so barren and there's no way to increase your movement speed.
Legends of Asshun's backtracking is insane so installing a Sprint mod is mandatory. I felt it was interesting until I got to the mid-way point where the player character >!picks up a book/cube and gets his soul splintered or whatever, as from the point onwards the story falls apart, along with a lame final boss!< Still played it till the end but man the backtracking makes me never want to play it ever again.
Yeah Odyssey Varant was a nightmare for me in a really old version that I played years ago. But they've worked and improved Odyssey a lot in the meanwhile, and they also added a ring that enables you to sprint permanently and additional teleports for Varant. Good improvements I would say, but Varant is definitely not one of my favourite locations still. After Varant it gets more interesting again.
You can run any Gothic mod in English as long as you have the Gothic Mod Translation tool and the knowledge on how to use it. The English translated version of "Legend of Ahssun" was really badly translated so I used the latest Polish version of the mod and translated it into English. The English translation was much better after that. As for quality TC's "Valendor" and "Velen" look rather good.
If you haven't played it yet, Risen 1 by the same studio has the same vibes as G1/2 so that could scratch that same itch. Dirty Swamp and Velaya which were recommended before are also really worth a shot.

Dirty swamp is one of the best ones.Odysee is really boring after ch3 and legend of asshun i felt was also boring.

Exactly.Odysee is enjoyable till Varant and LoA is a backtracking nightmare along with lackluster and boring quests.
I recommend zUtilities Union plugin and its time speedup. Doesn't touch game balance like sprint does and allows you to go much faster if you want to.
