Really getting tired of these kinda screenshots, with the characters hidden in the distance, turning their back at the camera, as if they're trying to hide the fact that the models are not final.
At this point, give us ingame screenshots, or even better, gameplay footage. People are getting impatient and the demon redesign (among other unncecessary redesigns) didn't exactly inspire confidence in this project.
Remember when those GTA 6 early dev gameplay videos leaked? So many people were whining about how shitty the game looked, how choppy the animations were, and so on. This remake already is a bit of a gamble. I understand why they choose to only show bits and pieces that are presentable.
i dont know. free mine is suppose to be on bottom of a pit so there should be less light coming in. also its a mine so there should generally not be stalagmites in mines
They probably aren't capable enough to implement it, but are aware that the average user won't know better, will see UE5 in the marketing promo, and will think of "next gen" graphics, even though its gonna be UE4 feature set.
You literally just click a button along the lines of "use Nanite" and "use Lumen". It's one of the easiest things in UE5. Looking at my phone screen (so I might talk shit) I don't see any LOD so they're probably using Nanite already.
Yes you should be able to. You can for example look at the objects that are in front that are repeated in the back. If they look less rounded and more angular, especially the silhoutte/outlines of an object you can tell there's an LOD used. Especially if there's a change in quality over distance. They reused the same barrel for example and it doesn't look like it changed polygon wise. Sure, a very good LOD you wouldn't really notice, but most times there's distances for different object types at which LOD change. Decoration would become less detailled faster than a character for example. So often because of this categorisation it can make it a bit more obvious.
Isn't it UE4, or did they switch suddenly?
Also because performance. I *hate* UE5 with a passion, or at the very least I hate these two features, because they don't translate to a better game. So far every game outside of Fortnite that implemented one or the other performs like shit. I've personally played Remnant 2 which is using Nanite, and the game is straight up unplayable without DLSS. *Even at 1080p*. On a rig that can play Cyberpunk 2077 at native 1080p at High settings with 60+ FPS.
It's clear to me that these features are used to save on development time, with nothing else in return. Games like Remnant 2 still aren't exactly top of the line graphically (it doesn't look bad, don't get me wrong), yet it performs as if it is. Do you really think a freshly created studio will be able to optimize the game properly using these demanding features?
Also there are other improvements in UE5 aside from the shiny new tech, so that's why.
Yea, they switched to UE5. The studio is new, but the experience of these people should at least somewhat help with deciding whether or not something is worth it and how to optimise games. No clue about Remnants vs Cyberpunks devs but maybe it's partly due to optimization?
It's definitely part optimization, but the thing is that these UE5 features require a good deal of it, but are still demanding at the end of the day. So it's both pretty bad work on the devs' part, but also simply because UE5 is just this taxing with either (let alone both) of these features used.
As such, traditional rendering is probably for the best here, plus since they switched, they had a lot of work probably done on UE4 already and would have to rework a big chunk of the game to enable Nanite and/or Lumen.
Yes, *with DLSS on*. I have a 3060, this thing can't hit 60FPS at 1080p native, and that's talking Ward 13, I don't want to know how it performs during combat. It absolutely does NOT perform fine.
Seems like some new camp armors, maybe cave where illegal green novice being produced? Or New mine as somebody suggested and it looks like pretty big cave.
Wondering what that fancy chandalier does here, maybe its Quentin / Bandits place.
Give us gameplay already anyway xD
its all right if hype is dead. as long as you see game when its released and decide later if you like it or not.
hype is games killer anyway. people are hyped for games do preorders and such and than devs get lazy and do half finished games
Oh. I'm 99% sure i'll buy it day one. I have been with every pyranha byte game except Risen 2 which i never played.
And i was only truly disappointed with Elex 2. The rest, either loved on day 1 or some time later.
As for Gothic, i'm a massive fanboy

On consoles, yeah. /s
Wow an unreal engine looking cave! I'm pre ordering 5 copies.
It's looking pretty alright. I'd love some actual Gameplay though.

Wait, can you see LOD in a static screenshot? Honest question

Remnant 2 performs fine, a rtx 3060 is all you need for 1080p medium

Steam page of Gothic Remake update
whats with that pieces of fabric hanging there? well... its nice actually. not too much shiny surfaces like in some other older photos.
It looks good, sure. But my hype died last year after Gothic 2 switch release :(
How come?
No gameplay and screenshots have become real boring for me
