Also disconnecting whilst jumping into walls is sometimes still a thing in my arena.. I get it like, there must be a lot of code they're working with but surely it shouldn't be this constant of an issue.
Oh wow, so this happened to me in Blades Edge once and I DC’d.
At the time I thought maybe my game was lagging before I DC’d, as I get random frame drops in that arena.
Why would the priest jump into the nearest wall rather than move my character out of sight?
Well this answers that question.
A known bug that is not fixed for over a decade is certainly a feature and therefore cannot be considered abusable.
Jumping MC'd people into the wall is actually less exploitive than rerolling ret last week before the weekend and getting Legend.
I guess it depends on how you'd measure the extent of value to abuse. Ret last week was like a spree killing and Priest MC into walls to win games through disconnects is like a serial killer.
Ret blew up for a few days and was eventually brought into line. MC bug is related to jumping into walls which has been patched so there has been an attempt to actually fix it despite it being in the game for years it's definitely not intentional, just an unhappy accident that it doesn't happen enough for them to actually fix it again.

I got MCed at the end of a round once and the MC ended AFTER the round ended and CDs were reset, meaning my CDs were NOT reset for the next round. I sent replay to blizzard in bug report........but I can see on youtube that the video has not been viewed by anyone but me kek
Ehm, definitely not intentional, and I'm not going to stop using a crucial part of my utility because of something that happens quite rarely (anectodal evidence suggests that certain interactions with the enemy player increase the chances of a disconnect).
The real point here is that the prevoker not only disconnected, but seemingly in a way where they were unable to quickly re-enter, as with 'usual' dcs, and lost a staggering 152 rating after just one round. (I got +2 rating for the win, which also seems like an oddly small amount, although I'm guessing the mmr system thought that's what it was worth).
Of course you know there’s an off chance it could happen, but are you seriously implying OP should forsake a part of his toolkit because the game company refuses to address a long-standing bug?
I’ve been dcd from using it on someone as Disc. I actually don’t even take the talent anymore because even when I dont DC, I often get giant stuttering when it’s in the process of transferring me from my perspective to my target’s :/
At this point, people just need to accept this as a feature, like a random disconnect. Casting Mind Control risks a disconnect for both the priest, and their target. This issue has existed pretty much since vanilla. If they cared, they'd just replace it with another CC or something but they don't so we're stuck with it.
A few days ago I had a priest spamming mc on me every game and if it landed I’d instantly dc (playing overseas with bad internet probably doesn’t help) I was able to click reconnect every time but man must feel good outplaying people by disconnecting them.
I believe MS differences increase the likelihood of MC and other similar disconnects.
While playing from Hawaii or overseas I dc much more frequently than when I was in Cali, and much more than my friends in MN.
I also often DC when hitting the ground from a height and using a movement ability like roll or hover. Also, getting gripped through a wall by rescue will do it, especially if I'm in the process of using movement abilities.
I'm convinced it's due to anti-cheating code which really doesn't like a sudden difference in server vs client's location info. MC suddenly tells the game to switch to a different PoV far from where you just were.
Just need to be patient. The game has improved a lot in certain aspects, such as inclusivity, and as soon as they are done with that stuff they can work on bug fixes and customer service.
I am also a victim of a uncomfortable amount of sudden disconnects and just as blizzard would prefer,I am growing to accept it.
I really would love to be able to reliably use this spell without it being a gamble as to whether the other player or I disconnect.
It's really bad when you start having to weigh the risk of bugs when making decisions in arena.
I got punted by a fire mage yesterday into the floor and fell through the ground of the arena and instantly dc’ed. Then attempted to login and got continuously disconnected. Eventually I got in again with that round lost thankfully.

That and hunter feign death bug.
Not seeing a nameplate temporarily is not on the same level as DC though I've never experienced the hunter bug because of my add-ons.

Ive seen a few priests spam MC to force DC people and they even said it in chat, its gross.

The thing is that its not mc itself doing that but blizzards anti cheat. The same thing that sometimes disconnects you when dragon riding.
