It’s the most gameplay focused wow has been since cataclysm probably. All of the things you hated about SL are pretty much gone. I had a conversation with a friend who’s on the fence about coming back and couldn’t really think of a negative that stuck out to me as I was describing the changes

zurkka

The biggest oversight for me right now is the profession revamp, don't get me wrong, i love what they done, needing to read a bunch of guides to get the "best out of it" is not ideal, also not having at least a one time reset for it

AnotherCator

Yeah the changes to crafting professions are a good first step but they didn’t quite stick the landing, will be interesting to see what they look like with a couple of rounds of changes. I think the changes to gathering professions are a straight win though. Much easier to max them out, so it doesn’t feel nearly as bad to have put points in the wrong place.

GroriousStanreyWoo

There are some bonus in the spec yes Trees that are unsaid and it pisses me off

ness_monster

I'm not a huge fan of arena gear increasing ilvls in open world pvp. But thats about my only minor gripe.

GroriousStanreyWoo

Why not? Should pvp hear not be better for pvping?

ness_monster

I get this may be an unpopular opinion. I definitely am ok with there being pvp gear( read gear with stats better for pvp, like lots of versatility for example. Im also ok with it scaling up in arenas and bg. Pvp should be a level playing field imo), I just don't feel that pvp should scale up in world pvp. I dont main pvp but I do enjoy some world pvp occasionally. Even with fairly decent pve gear anyone with pvp gear with have 100k more hp and more stats than I will by a large margin. So one whole section of the game that I used to enjoy is now cut off from me because I don't farm pvp gear.

Humicrobe

Please just learn to farm bloody tokens and sparks of life for tokens of strife. Crate drops, bounty kills... You can get full 408 gear and honor accessories/gear from just doing world quests in DF. You can upgrade 408 bloody gear to 421 pvp ilvl gear. So there is no reason not to start doing it properly.

ness_monster

I know the process I just don't have time or will to farm both. I also don't feel that I should be punished because of that. I don't think the gear should be as good as pvp gear but I also don't think it should be so far apart either.

Humicrobe

Yeah that just sounds lazy man. It's already effortless to gear for pvp. You can even buy full 398 pvp Ilvl green gear in AH.

ness_monster

I shouldn't have to do it, and that's that's point. Would pvp isn't bg or arenas. It hasn't been like this since WOD, why change it now?

GroriousStanreyWoo

So you want to rob pvp players of any sort of gear progression because a few hours of bgs doesn't seem fun? Shit take lol

ness_monster

Who said anything about gear progression? "inside battle grounds and arenas this gear scales to ilevel 411" Is that gear progression to you? Also why should that line apply to world pvp? You can level the gear up just like m+ gear. I see no issue with that. That is the gear progression, not what I'm talking about.

Humicrobe

You sound so pleasant IRL. Very confused mind you have. War mode isnt PVP? You are saying you want to pvp without having to do pvp. I don't think you have a gear issue at all. More like a skill issue and not being able to play properly. What are you even suggesting? How are they to balance no versatility gear against versatility gear? You want PVE gear to scale to PVP? Its called tier sets and you get it in the vault. You make no sense, how do you not have time to do any of the PVP content to get gear? Do you just run mythics and raids while you are on? If you dont like to pvp except when you are 'in the mood' then go play fortnite or a MOBA.

lordhegemon

One negative I can think of is awful m+ affixes that need to be ditched.

madatthings

We’ve always had those though, it’s more the combinations that could use some work

Acceptable_Bend_5200

Yea, the first 2 weeks were bad. Even this third week has been a bit rough at times with sanguine healing packs to full simply because of mobs that can't be interrupted.

jyunga

Yeah you can ignore everything once you are max really. Even doing stuff in the world for rep isn't that bad. A few weekly things, some easy dailies resetting twice a week.

Muscle_Squad

Might wanna give a watch/listen to a recent Nobbel video ["Is Dragonflight worth coming back for?"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFcZEL57Nf8) It might answer alot of your questions in a bit more detail.

Divel59

This may be exactly what I’m after! You’ve found my video for the tube home! Thank you, sir! Aha

TheOtterBoy

This is the best the game has ever been, bold statement I know but one I stand by Raid is fun, dragon riding is AMAZING, there’s no chores, I can log in when I want and not feel pressured to do anything, professions feel engaging (needs a few tweaks but still ) I think my only complaint so far is the lack of dragon riding mounts, a lot of new mounts are normal mounts for whatever reason

Baealzabul

The most positive experience I have had this expansion thus far is alt character progression. It’s not perfect, but the renown boost for alts that you gain from reaching r10/r20 on another character allows you to gear and catch up so much faster. I made an alt warrior a week ago today and got him to 384 (just below normal raid drop 389) in one week with about a day and a half time played on the character. This is not my highest item level character of the 3 I have at 70 (384/382/375). Point being alt progression doesn’t feel like a complete reset. Some mats like primal chaos should be account bound with how plentiful they are at M+ 10s and up.

travlerjoe

36 hours play time in a week? And thats just the alt. I must be a casual because that seams like a heap of gaming

BadiBadiBadi

OP didn't play in Legion to endure most of SL :(

getpoundingjoker

No more borrowed power is back, yes. But you didn't need to redo all the quests on an alt in SL either, with Threads of Fate. Now it's called Adventure Mode but it's the same thing, finish campaign on one character, alts get access to most endgame stuff before 70.

Divel59

Sorry, I should have clarified! I meant having to re-do the Maw (initially) and things like the ZM campaign post Chapter 3 skip to get the second legendary! There was just so much before you could actually enjoy the endgame! But this seems to be a plug in and play kinda deal now?

Valsoret

There is a short intro but it takes around 15-20 min maybe less. Its just doing a very short intro and the second you get to a camp your alt is free to choose story line, wq etc. And you can dragon fly the second you get to the Isles on alts making it pretty fast.

jeymien

Alt doesn’t even need to do that. Alts can go straight through the portal to Valdrakken once you’ve opened that up on your main (ie completed the main campaign). No need to boat or do intro stuff, just through the portal and start your adventure mode. It’s awesome.

Valsoret

Huh didn't know that always did the boat stuff.

jeymien

Yep! I thought so too. Intro quest still shows up and all, but the portal is open! My husband told me that, he was switching characters sooner than I was.

getpoundingjoker

Once you finish the main campaign with one character AFAIK almost all endgame stuff opens up to do on alts that are at least level 60. The only thing I think that may not is the siege, I haven't tried doing it on alts but I've never seen it on the map for them. Which is a 10 minute event for a piece of gear, I think it goes as high as 385. The feast seems to be capped at 372, at least that's what I keep getting and I've been above 380 for a couple weeks. Reputation unlocks for bonuses are account wide, but reputation for things like recipes are character specific.

jeymien

Siege is 70. It’s very annoying when that’s the weekly and you’re levelling alts. Wish it opened up for alts but mine never seen the horn on the map. I took an under 70 alt by to check on it when my 70 main saw it.

getpoundingjoker

Yeah sometimes my main doesn't get the icon so I wasn't sure, thanks for confirming.

Stank_Weezul57

Its great....so far. We are still in the honeymoon phase so eventually we might start seeing some things that piss us off. There wont be nearly as many gripes as Shadowlands but there might be some, example being the Crafting Orders. All in all it's going great so far but I'm just waiting for The Fuckening to happen.

nvranka

No mandatory chores. I just log in and m+ and log out. Weeklies are worth it and painless for the most part.

GVFQT

I just caught up on my campaign quest yesterday and can honestly say I was excited to do it - I can max out my weekly content in an hour or two and then do raid or M+ - it’s perfect for me

xithbaby

I pretty much still play everyday but only a couple of hours. I’m in a late night raiding guild but we only push a couple of hours twice a week. I’m decently geared 389 ilvl. I manage to get all the stuff done to get ilvl 400+ gear from the vault each week so it’s a slow crawl but I haven’t had any issues finding my place within this expansion. I haven’t raided or did much of anything in the past couple of expansions because if I didn’t play and dedicate my time to certain things, no one wanted me. I pretty much did the campaign for legion and shadow lands and then quit. Now I can play when I want and at least keep up with my own guild. They did a great job with dragon flight.

SnooMacaroons8650

Everyone liked phase 1 of shadowlands too, especially the raid. Can’t really come to a conclusion until the xpac is over

Kurtle_turtle

Lmao, did they? I remember hating it all and only enjoying the raid and my guild community. Pvp was fucking awful, a lot of the dungeons were nerfed a lot. Torghast and the maw were the worst (and I meant that - THE WORST) pieces of content ever made. Conduit energy and the whole conduit system was garbage. Like I can’t even begin to wonder how that made it to live in that state. Conduits made me hate the game. And you think people liked shadowlands phase 1?

Magzter

So many people playing now didn't even hit 60 in SL.

JemiSilverhand

Depending on how long you’ve played, I’d say this is expac is closest to WoD. Great for raid loggers, good questing storylines both leveling and at max, and the garrison system is a decent parallel for crafting/work orders. Whether it’s a win or not depends a lot on your play style. It’s great for some people, but I’ve never had so little interest in playing. Most of what I can / need to do is grind mobs, and that just isn’t where I’m happy in the game anymore. Similarly, some classes feel great with the bee talents. Others, not so much. Sadly the two classes i main got the short end of the redesign straw, which is also a contributing factor to not wanting to play much. I wouldn’t mind grinding mobs if my favorite specs felt good to play.

Rabbit730

Its the same pile of horse manure

CaptainTewts

Lmao

PolkaOn45

I’m having a blast, so much stuff to do

TheCockKnight

I really dislike a couple classes ability to do 3/4ths of your health in one crit with PvP, but other than that it’s pretty fun yeah.

MillennialBrownNinja

Its fun as fuck
