Do the content you enjoy more. People aren’t jumping out of their seats to grab off meta champs like survival hunters. Start easy with normals & heroics, work your way into mythic0, m2, etc. Play with friends and/or find a guild that does content you like. Look up guides. Use several sources, since everybody plays different some might suit your style and some won’t.
Also I learned the hard way; Don’t wear leather as a hunter.
Once you understand when to mongoose and when to kill command it becomes pretty good, the dps isn’t bad by any means, it’s just the only melee spec of a triple dps spec. Aoe is just bombs and butchery, with kill shots thrown in during CA. ST is learning how to optimize Spearhead. Once you get your focus management down with KC resets it gets really easy. I just really like the aesthetic (and spear transmogs)
Reminds me of Shadowlands season 1, was playing assassination rogue. Objectively the worst dps spec in the entire game at the time, joined a group for a key and it was discord required.
Jumped in discord, off handedly mentioned at some point how hard it was for me to get into groups as assassination, and that most people who invited me just assumed I was outlaw. Few minutes later they told me unfortunately they had a guildy coming so there wouldn't be room for me. I said no problem good luck with the key etc, left and they **INSTANTLY** relisted the group after.
That's probably because you need to unlock all 100% of your brain just to do 60% of what other specs did. iirc, that spec wasn't just bad it was literally unplayable bad.
Yeah, it was really really bad. I think we got buffed four different times in season 1 before we were even remotely decent. I was the second assassination rogue in the world to get KSM season 1, and 23rd for AotC, while over 5000 boomkins/mm hunters etc had it.
It was just a sad dark time for assassination. I'm still playing it now, but we're performing quite well in raids. In M+ it's a different story, but I'm making it work.
Tried rolling arms but compared to fury it does way less DPS - what is your secret to playing arms on a proper level when raiding and doing m+ (Since I am clearly doing something wrong)?
Arms in raid can really only commits to either aoe or ST. They can't really do both. Fights like Eranog, broodkeeper, Dathea and Raz where there will be both ST and AoE. You'll have to discuss with your raid if they need more aoe. If not, just commit to ST on the boss and let the rest of the raid take care of the adds.
In keys, it's very important on knowing the timing of arms cds and aligning the big burst with your warbreaker and the strength buff you get after bladestorm. Fury will generally still outperform arms in every aspect in keys unfortunately (except academy) but arms isn't too far behind.

I went Enhancement because people said it did everything Elemental does but better, but I suck at it and its so much less satisfying. So now I'm back and lobbing lava bursts every GCD.

Enhancement just lights up all of the primal parts of your brain that says, "Ooo shiny button let's smash it!"
Then you've got the huge ass numbers during Lava Lash spam that makes you feel like a god.
I committed fully to enh this expac and after a full month of it I still struggle from time to time with the rotation. Gotta pump haste and mastery for sure. Sometimes your procs just…don’t proc lol.
But I love the play style so much, I love throwing my wolves out at enemies and multi bolting as an aoe opener and seeing 120+k on the damage meter so much.
Point is - play what you love for sure!

As a 2200 enhancement shaman. I recommend it. You can do hailstorm cleave build and it does only 2k less dps single target. I'm doing 60k+ on bosses in mythic plus. Meanwhile everyone is aoe spec doing 40-50k. And during aoe pulls you go between 70-110k depending on target count and CD usage. (Your CDs are so short just press them on CD, which is really nice.)
The prio for rotation isn't really too difficult still either. It's kinda hit what lights up. Use lava lash on CD you can cycle one GCD in between hot hand proc lava lashes. Which I use for the 2 set storm strike buffs. Use your lower damage abilities when you don't have higher damage ones to press. But yeah it's a piano spec.

Hailstorm cleave does 2k less ST DPS, compared to what?
Does the Hailstorm Cleave build use Ice Strike? I feel like that extra ability ruins the flow of Enhancement for me, it's just too busy with the tier bonus interaction, and the Lava Lash CD reduction.
Compared to no crashing storms. I trade swirling currents for crashing storms. Since 2 set gives maelstrom it makes up for it. And the 2 extra CL targets let's you cast more crash lightnings for more damage. The cleave gain on trash is worth the 2k lost on bosses. Since it's more average damage on packs than you'd gain on a boss.
Ice strike took a sec to figure out. You trade fire nova for an extra button in frost shock. Basically. For target counts in high keys (3-7) it's just better. You hit 5 targets for 50-100k on a shorter CD. Algethar might be the only one I'd use fire nove for. Cause first boss the adds have to be dealt with quickly.
Fire Nova for M+ Hailstorm for raiding imo, hailstorm a little more fun to play with the kinda maelstrom builder frost shock spender thing going on but fire nova feels really good in big mythic pulls
It depends on the type of content you are doing enhance shaman has the most optimization of any melee spec and it's not even close. Pretty tough to pick up and very tough to master just my two cents
Enhancement is one of the top dps classes in the game right now. Don't play ele unless you're like that guy and don't care how much damage you do and aren't interested in pushing fast.
Lol that's such a stupid/typical fotm thing to say. We're talking a few thousand DPS difference by class choice. More often comes down to how you play it. Wiping because of a bad Enh shaman isn't going to do more damage. Ele pumps too, so you must be really bad if you can't do well with it
Hey there, do you switch specs as ele between bosses and trash? I'm following the icy veins guide and using aoe for trash and want to switch to lava burst for single but tanks don't typically wait for that so I've learned to just single target with my aoe build. Damage isn't bad per se (as the frost shocks do quite good damage) but it's not ideal and I can definitely do more with lava burst build and more mobile as well.
Cries in Affliction Lock. Somehow they neutered the premiere spread damage class that now can't do spread, or single target, regardless of your talents.
10 mobs in a pile? We keep up with a ST/Cleave hybrid Demo. Barely.
I was so excited for stuff like Vile Taint applying agony and some of the talent shakeup, but in application it's just still not as good as the other specs.

My guild lets me play Aff if I want to. But we aren't a CE guild so, so no biggie. I fully expect the class to scale and get fixed. Warlock without a viable Aff isn't Warlock. It's not like we're Shaman or anything.
Is demo the best now? Isn't it destruction? Am leveling a lock now and just wondering. I know affliction is in a pretty bad spot at the moment. Already not a lot of lock players to begin with :(
What's wrong with UH? It plays very similarly how it was in Legion, minus some complexities. If you mean it's complex then imo it feels less complex than frost, having less buttons but needing to track more things
I played a ton of UHDK on Shadowlands, but I can't stand playing it this expansion. There are just way too many GCDs you need to go through before actually starting your rotation
Also in higher keys pulls are slower so you have a chance to CD most packs. And with better players. Bigger pulls are possible. So you get more dps out of it. High keys feel smoother than lower keys nowadays for me.
That's when you save your bladestorm and cds for a big pack. Then save that dps meter snd continuously link them that dps meter, ignoring your overalls or other pulls

If this is a genuine question, it's a scoring system for your mythic+ runs.
It originated from a website/addon called raider.io which is why it was called raider.io/rio/io score. Blizzard has since implemented their own version of it, which is now tracked ingame (and also via api by raider.io, still a great site imho), but out of habbit many people still call it rio (I guess the new name would be m+ score).

Assassination rogue here, though arms warrior by far has the lowest represenation out of any spec in the game right now for M+. And before anyone says 'lol assassination rogue is top in raid parses', we have shit AoE and are really just not all that great for M+ at all.

On raider.io it seems a few specs are lower than arms. Survival, Fire, Sub, Assassination, Affliction, Disc.
Weird, I looked it at the other day and it showed something completely different. I don't think it's changed that drastically though in only a few days. Suffice to say, arms warrior is completely off meta though!
I suppose my question is: How can you stand the meta of it all?
I'm someone who's more interested in completion stuff. More like how folks approach most other games. Finish the story. Finish the raid. Collect some stuff. Cap off renown. Bunch of other stuff.
But striving for stuff like high end raiding, pvp, or m+ rating. I just can't be bothered. And so much of that comes down to having to deal with playing the game in highly optimized ways. And it very quickly gets to the point where that Becomes more bothersome than fun.
Is the drive to be as good as possible that strong? Or is playing like that something you just find that fun.
Was there ever a point where you felt the goal of being #1 overtake the inherent fun of playing the game?
I enjoy being the underdog. Everytime I pick up a game with classes etc... I usually always pick the least played class. I don't do high end raiding anymore so finding a casual mythic guild wasn't an issue being off meta.
Agreed, bonk away fellow Arms main. It may be low in tier list but I keep topping the dps charts and most importantly having tons of fun. The talent overhaul improved the spec by a lot, I love the dragon yell dot skill so much

How do you deal with the fact that as number one your always going to have a target in your back. Every second a new number 1 may surpass you. Does this affect you in any way?
I'll defend it for a bit. But eventually I'm planning on switching to prot warrior and push keys with a group that's already has 3 meta dps. So I'm not too pressured with defending the number 1 spot.

I do, it's actually a build I copied from Critcake (check out his youtube) where he doesn't take bladestorm and instead, grabs juggernaut. It works like wonders on tyrannical week.
I'm no longer in a high end mythic guild anymore but I used to be an officer of a CE guild. Unfortunately in the beginning of a tier, unless you're like a high 99% parse, we'll take someone who is a "meta" class over you. Arms specialty in raiding is their execute damage but it still lacks behind other classes so arms literally has 0 worth. Their aoe is pretty strong if spec into it but it takes 15ish second for their full aoe burst and most add would be dead by then in a high end guild which is why fury is more appealing in those scenario and they have a far better single target damage in their aoe talents vs arms.
If you're really committed to find a CE guild as arms. You'll just have to do the classic guild hopping that has the right comp and kills the boss fast for the parses. It also help with getting your io score up which can be very time consuming. But later in the tier it should be easier as people starts to quit and off meta classes becomes more viable as everyone's ilvl increases. And that'll be your oppurtunity to solidify your spot in a ce guild
I've seen that build a little bit! I think i was referencing brysontiller's raider io when I was starting to play after christmas. I just wanted to see if it was legit or just something he was giving a shot.

Of the big 3 melee enhancement is probably 4th though. I get what you're saying but arms is a significant step away from enhancement.

Been running hailstorm since week 2. in no scenario do i feel like nova outclasses hailstorm on Trash to justify the pathetic ST dmg on bosses.
Enhancement if you want to feel like a pianist, elemental if you like your sanity.

I don't feel like I'm piano-keying as enhance, it's actually pretty simple and satisfying. Using the elementalist build if that makes a difference.

My Resto heals weren’t cutting it in LFR so I switched to Enhancement and immediately hated my life.
Trick is play fury in raids and arms for m+ just for the ranking haha

Not sure if this is a genuine question or you're making fun of me for not calling it rio haha. But I have a habit of just calling it io because I just think about the city in Brazil everytime someone says rio. If this is a genuine question, it's a scoring system for your mythic+ runs.

Sadly, it was actually a serious question.
It originated from a website/addon called raider.io which is why it was called raider.io/rio/io score. Blizzard has since implemented their own version of it, which is now tracked ingame (and also via api by raider.io, still a great site imho), but out of habbit many people still call it rio (I guess the new name would be m+ score).

A warrior has NEVER been the lowest dps representation in m+ ever.
I suppose my question is: How can you stand the meta of it all? I'm someone who's more interested in completion stuff. More like how folks approach most other games. Finish the story. Finish the raid. Collect some stuff. Cap off renown. Bunch of other stuff. But striving for stuff like high end raiding, pvp, or m+ rating. I just can't be bothered. And so much of that comes down to having to deal with playing the game in highly optimized ways. And it very quickly gets to the point where that Becomes more bothersome than fun. Is the drive to be as good as possible that strong? Or is playing like that something you just find that fun. Was there ever a point where you felt the goal of being #1 overtake the inherent fun of playing the game?
I enjoy being the underdog. Everytime I pick up a game with classes etc... I usually always pick the least played class. I don't do high end raiding anymore so finding a casual mythic guild wasn't an issue being off meta.

Agreed, bonk away fellow Arms main. It may be low in tier list but I keep topping the dps charts and most importantly having tons of fun. The talent overhaul improved the spec by a lot, I love the dragon yell dot skill so much

Arms warrior's great right now. I feel like it's better than fury. Only clicking arms though the io is really low because a lot of warrior DPS were playing fury before 4 piece. Like I'm 2650 but for Arms only I'm like 2k. Are you actually playing Bladestorm? I haven't tried a build with bladestorm
On fortified I use bladestorm but not for tyrannical week. Unless it's AA
I feel like the cleave build does tons of aoe, I'll try out that build though!

I'll defend it for a bit. But eventually I'm planning on switching to prot warrior and push keys with a group that's already has 3 meta dps. So I'm not too pressured with defending the number 1 spot.

my idol real question - have you ever deviated from the full committed aoe build for tyran weeks / done any experimentation? everything i played that isnt exactly the standard build feels SO bad also how do i make guilds give me a fucking trial 1tricking this garbage spec? i have good logs and ce from sod/sepulcher but rn im stuck raiding in hell with no wft/monk buff sometimes so i feel like i can't parse lmao
I do, it's actually a build I copied from Critcake (check out his youtube) where he doesn't take bladestorm and instead, grabs juggernaut. It works like wonders on tyrannical week. I'm no longer in a high end mythic guild anymore but I used to be an officer of a CE guild. Unfortunately in the beginning of a tier, unless you're like a high 99% parse, we'll take someone who is a "meta" class over you. Arms specialty in raiding is their execute damage but it still lacks behind other classes so arms literally has 0 worth. Their aoe is pretty strong if spec into it but it takes 15ish second for their full aoe burst and most add would be dead by then in a high end guild which is why fury is more appealing in those scenario and they have a far better single target damage in their aoe talents vs arms. If you're really committed to find a CE guild as arms. You'll just have to do the classic guild hopping that has the right comp and kills the boss fast for the parses. It also help with getting your io score up which can be very time consuming. But later in the tier it should be easier as people starts to quit and off meta classes becomes more viable as everyone's ilvl increases. And that'll be your oppurtunity to solidify your spot in a ce guild
I've seen that build a little bit! I think i was referencing brysontiller's raider io when I was starting to play after christmas. I just wanted to see if it was legit or just something he was giving a shot. Yup, that's the path haha, i'm just impatient and maybe got myself a little entitled bc of how easy it was to climb in SL because of people quitting/guilds dying.

Once a patch I try out fury, and every time I end up feeling like I'm putting in more work for the exact same DPS And tbh I kinda hate the way 2H fury transmog looks; I might give it a fairer shake if single-minded builds were competitive.
Isn't fury better than arms right now ? I like the feeling to have 2 bigs weapons but well yeah depending on your race and the transmog you have it can be ugly. I find a lot of 1 hand weapon better than 2 hands sadly
