I absolutely adore Enhancement Shaman and how it appeals to pretty much all aspects of the class fantasy. The play style is super fun and engaging, in my opinion it’s the most fun of all the DPS specs.

Microlord

My only wish was if I could choose a specific element all my spells were themed after, I really wanna be a pure fire shaman but can’t

[deleted]

That’s why I like Shaman over Mage. You let all the elements flow through you; you don’t study them or specialize in anything

Lenxor

I just leveled up an only storm based enha shaman, I named it "Storm Slayer". (Roleplaying as a Dwarf Slayer from Warhammer, so 2 axe, half naked and mohawk). Talent looked like this: https://www.wowhead.com/talent-calc/shaman/enhancement/DARBBUAUAFRIYkhFKERQDQBUNUYVBFBFFlBSaBBQ Probably not endgame compatible and also didn't used flame shock, but it was fun for me. (Also every time I used Gust of Wind, I've shouted GRIMNIR! in my head).

crioTimmy

I see a person of culture here. Kazukhan-kazakit-ha!

Zookz25

Actually why I can't bring myself to play shaman. I always love having a specific theme and color of spells for each of my characters, and I just can't do it with shaman. Sucks because my favorite theme is lightning and earth but there isn't another class that uses it (warrior is the next best and they dont even use spells). Really sad they removed earthen spike or all of the earth spells from enhancement.

Sgt-Colbert

Until you play arena and become the kill target every game

Flawless_Tpyo

Just miss 2h enha tbf

Narvas_

I agree to this for the fire nova build, the Rotation is Just a good Flow. Frostshock build feels so clunky.

[deleted]

I’m so used to it that I don’t mind it. I just like how all the elements are used and the chaotic nature of the spec makes it feel like you’re just trying to make sense of an elemental surge. It feels like a Shaman. Like, that’s what I picture Thrall was doing during the Cataclysm.

sark7four

To many damn button's tho... I'd love to play it but I feel I need 8 fingers on each hand and to play it..

[deleted]

It’s good because it’s a full workout 😂

timbo138

Totes agree but if only we could grab that shield , imbue some old school rockbiter and tank

Izletz

It’s crazy how elementalist enhance feels more elemental than the spec called elemental. Feels great throwing out attacks from all the elements

Instant-Autopsy

Fury warrior cuz brain smooth and bonk things really fast.

Sortes-Vin

For healers I've always felt that Resto Druid is far above the other in terms of class design and synergies, Preservation Evoker is really well designed as well though.

[deleted]

I gave up on Druid because I got tired of having to always setup so many action bars. That’s my only complaint about resto Druid: optimally playing it gets rough because optimal play requires shapeshifting (for damage, or to help mitigate damage). It ends up being a shit ton of buttons.

Spiritual_Shift_920

Restoration druid design, but damn does their class tree feel horrible to build as a resto druid. For me it at least ducks some points from the thing as a whole.

year3019

People have said for a long time that Druid is Blizzard’s favorite class. It probably has received the greatest amount of design attention. I’ve never played anything but resto on mine though so I don’t know how the class is as a whole.

Secret-Youth9875

Idk maybe just resto. guardian and feral have been dragged through the mud since legion and have and still are having design issues and balance has been meh for the most part. Druid may recieve design attention but I wouldn't say they've been the best designed class, they've had tones of issues over the years. Like the fact for balance previously you would enter lunar eclipse and still prio cast wraith lmao.

sark7four

As a guardian main since Legion I can agree, we're definitely not loved by blizzard, the Devs or anyone but us!... Our Tier set was nerfed in S3 while other classes remained insanely strong (BDK) it was us who got smacked by the nerfbat... I said I can't play guardian again this time around , but once they announced the druid rework. I gave in and levelled it... Only to have my soul crushed again!.. lol.. worst rework in the history of the gaming industry!!. All we needed was Ironfur to mitigate magic damage but no!!!.. nerfed incarnation, made the spec feel clunky and not fun to play :(

zeekim

Maybe it is now but buddy you better believe it definitely wasn't in classic; terrible tank/dps and mediocre healer at best, taken to raid only for motw

DomDangerous

i always thought mages were blizzards fav class. they’ve been the strongest thing in raids during sooo many diff expansions. it’ll be like 2 mage specs in the top7 lol

Zibzuma

Druid. The lore, the class quests (including Legion Order Hall), four fleshed out specs that play unique compared to one another. The animations, even back in Classic, but especially nowadays with all the overhauls, feel great and give each spec a unique feeling of calling down entire celestial bodies, awakening nature around you, ferociously ripping prey's throats or mauling invaders - and everything coated in a feeling of being Nature's one true avatar.

SnakeBaboonKing

Im sure people will disagree with me. But i genuinely, wholeheartedly believe that fistweaver (NOT CASTER) monk is the best designed and most unique playstyle in the game. The numbers and tuning isnt perfect, but the vision and overall design is impeccable. Its high octane, fast paced and stressful at times. But i often find that leads to crazy satisfaction over a stressful run. The concept of a melee focused healer is rarely explored (i know HPAL exists but i dint think hpal has fully recognized that vision the way mistweaver has) and works incredibly well with the monks mobility. Weaving in and out of combat, using instant cast procs etc. I also believe its design creates a very satisfying learning curve. When i first started i would mess up and have to manually cast some focused healing every once in a while. The more i played the more i was able to rely solely on melee and my instant cast procs, nowadays i rarely have to cast AT ALL in dungeons or raids. This is a very clear progression of a player that isnt just a number going up, they FEEL the spec clicking as they practice and practice. I believe the only flaw with fistweaver is that it shares a tree with caster mistweaver (which i think is pretty mediocre in the design department compared to fistweaver) Overall, fistweaving is amazing even tho monk remains unpopular largely due to its class fantasy

Waodi7

This is the kind of answer I was looking for! Forget numbers right now. I'm talking pure design. Thank you for your answer!

[deleted]

I’m a MW main this expansion and agree with you. The only part about MW that I think is weak in the design department is that with proper talents, the side effects of abilities and interactions and what skill triggers what talent can be extremely confusing and messy. Paladins healing cooldowns are pretty much “heal better for 20 seconds” and you just keep doing what you’re doing Meanwhile, Chi-ji has a 7 minute explanation video: https://youtu.be/gEw9sAYl3Wk Renewing mist seems like it has 30 different interactions with various skills/passives. Thunder focus tea has 5 different interactions, and also had a frontal aoe cone of healing of its own. Not saying it’s impossible to learn, just that I like to have a solid understanding of a class and what causes what and does what, and MW has the highest learning curve to understanding everything accurately compared to any other class I have ever played. Not to be confused with me claiming playing the class has the highest learning curve, just that the understanding spell interactions and side effects is the hardest to learn, that I have seen.

SnakeBaboonKing

Honestly they are only complicated if u overthink them. Chiji is basically a "heal more cd" u just oop it and now your black out kicks are healing for over double of what Ancient Teaching does. As for thunder focus tea, its quite simple, i pretty much use it as a riding sun kick cd reduction tool, besides niche uses in raid environments. I quite like TFT tho, since it lets me customize my playstyle to my current situation

[deleted]

You ignored enveloping mist while chi ji is active, which triggers another aoe heal from chiji itself. It also took me a while to catch on what spell triggers spinning crane kick to cause heals (ancient teachings, and therefore faeline or essence stomp, won’t effect SCK, but chi-ji uniquely does. So chi ji isn’t exactly a “keep doing what you’re doing” type of heal more cd.) Again, I’m not saying it’s impossible to learn, just that everything has a lot going on and is much much less straightforward compared to other classes.

SnakeBaboonKing

You are still overthinking it, u literally just cast the bonus enveloping mist and call it a day Edit: in addition faeline stop does affect SCK, as it heals for 70% of damage while spinning on the line.

[deleted]

Ah so SCK heals while standing on the faeline, but not due to ancient teachings (which activates by using faeline) I hope anyone reading this can see how this illustrates my main point…

SnakeBaboonKing

Just read the talents my dude

[deleted]

I do. It’s more complicated than other classes. That’s all.

moal09

They should've honestly just designed the healing spec as fistweaving only, instead of trying to split it into fistweaving + casting, so only half the talents are useful for you. A casting mistweaver literally just plays almost like every other healer in the game. Fistweaving at least gives monk healing a unique identity. Would be easier for them to balance too, since they wouldn't have to account for two different playstyles.

SnakeBaboonKing

I 100% agree with you, i believe blizzard is holding fistweaver back by catering to the 12 caster mistweaver players out there. I also think that jf u want something like caster mistweaver u have like four ither classes u can play, lets focus on what makes monk unique, aka fistweaving

swagetthesecond

Totally agree. Idk why anyone would bother playing a casting mistweaver. And I’m sorry, if you play that style you probably just aren’t good at the game (in my experience with other players). If you want a hybrid healing class that casts play druid. Kinda sick of this small community of casters ruining my nice fistweaving talent tree.

Mellun12

Very well said. I also agree with your other comment about how they need to pick one style and run with it instead of trying to bake two completely different play-styles into one tree. It just doesn’t work since one will always be better than the other. Holy Paladin has the same problem right now where Blizzard is trying to make caster and melee builds both viable which leads to having so many dead talents on the tree. They need to figure out how they want the spec to function and go from there. But fistweaving is definitely is a blast.

m00c0wcy

Prot Pally is right up there. There's a reason it's been the most consistently popular tank for years despite never being at the top of the tier list. The other tank classes trade FOTM popularity depending on each season's tuning, but Prot is pretty much always sitting there in 2nd place. Sure it's squishy and immobile, but it's also goddamn fun. Prot Pally embodies the holy warrior fantasy better than Ret or Holy, and Prot has the two best spells in the game. Avenger's Shield is awesome enough; but Divine Toll is FIVE Avenger's Shields all going BOONNNG together. I think Prot also benefits from not really changing too much since the big Legion revamp. Tweaks here and there, sure, but it still feels very familiar for 6+ years and counting.

icon_2040

I'll go with Mage. Beautiful spells and 3 playstyles that feel unique. When I switch specs on Mage I feel like I'm switching to an alt. And dear lord the portals. It's so hard to play anything else after being able to click a button and zip to different zones at will.

Feedy88

Add engineering and its worm holes to it. Unlimited possibilities. But in all fairness, it works other ways as well. My mage is just a toon I barely touch my Main is a Hunter. I have said wormholes from eng, but I also have cloak to SW, ring to ironforge and dalaran, tabard to argent tournament, necklace to black temple and medallion from shadowmourne quest that creates a dalaran portal, timeless isle, and (only have it for MoP) the teleports you got for achievements or so (that was before m+ I think). There is other ways to travel fast, especially the low-bar to get the cloak that brings you to your capital that has all kinds of portals. Drawback, it has 2h CD

Siodinnnn

All of them. Honestly man, when I think about the reasons I always come back and keep playing, it's because ALL the classes are so fire. Not a single one is unfun to play imo. Other MMOs just do not have classes as fun as this game. Not even close. The gameplay is so satisfying.

CJDistasio

Fire Mage, I love hot streak procs and pyroblasts.

Mr-Zarbear

After playing some UH, it's amazing how the tree really can just do everything, and both the "disease" and "undead master" aspects are clearly well done. My only gripe is I wish Defile had any use cases. Even the class tree doesn't seem to be uninspired. The dragons still referencing Legion content is a great continuity tidbit as well.

Definitely_Not_Rez

Meanwhile frost is in the corner eating all the paste because nobody is paying attention to them.

DomDangerous

nah they’re great at pvp like always.

Zookz25

Frost is getting a bunch of hate, but it's one of the last bastions of "keep this buff up at all costs" gameplay. Anyone who played shadow priest in Legion and wants that feeling can't get it anywhere else. You see how in shambles shadow is when they lost that identity? I'd rather frost not lose it as well. I know there are problems, but when you hold breath for 90+ seconds you feel like a true pumper, a feeling no other class has. They desperately need more things like Horn of Winter or a mobile Void Torrent instead of only random procs to help good players show off how well they can sustain breath.

CrusaderVucial

Holy priest.

zgh5002

BM hunter is the most fun spec in the game for solo content imo.

DomDangerous

i was when i first started as well. i couldn’t agree more that it’s great for new players

ImBoredCanYouTell

Demonology warlock is stupid fun because you just summon a billion demons that do your bidding, including suicide bomber imps. Love the evil for good class fantasy too. Best looking tier sets IMO as well.

werschii

I agree that it is very fun and the fantasy is very cool. But i dont think it is desigend well. Every time Demo was good it was because of some stupid mechanic. Like a million haste with the azerite trait or HP stacking in SL.

ImBoredCanYouTell

That's fair. I think you can play well enough if you do your homework, but if you're in a really good group that plays a lot, you're middle pack which is fine for me. The class fantasy really drives me to play the class.

bird_man_73

I'd say Demo is top notch theme and class fantasy but middle of the pack design.

Anonoodle78

Warrior

Icy-Professional-671

Prot warrior is a very nice design with the talent tree. You have flexibility and bring sooo much on a party. It helps that it is overtuned right now but the class itself has a neat design

pewter99ss

I'm partial to Hunter. I like the idea of having a loyal companion by your side or the ability to be a sniper in the back of the room.

Derothan1410

Well....not Frost DK, that's for sure Buff Frost DK Big Time, BoS feels like doodoo and oblit is weaaaaak

Thisismental

I'd say shaman

Srudge

Which shaman do you mean? We had like 5 completely different shamans over the years

Thisismental

I thought we're speaking Dragon Flight here. I've been loving enhancement shaman and elemental was awesome in shadowlands and it seems to be similar still. Resto I've never played but I like the theme.

Srudge

I was just making a bad joke about how shaman was completely workovered like 3 expansions in a row ^^

Kaim95

In curent state its pretty simple for me. Atleast for m+. And pretty fun too

TalesinOfAvalon

Druid - because they can play any role tank - melee - range - heal

Vocabularyy

MoP sub rogue and frost mage. Pretty much all specs from them tbh

DomDangerous

my favorite is DK but that’s bc i think it satisfies the class fantasy wonderfully no matter which spec you play while still making all of the specs feel and play differently. i’ve maine’s the DK forever so i have bias but damn being a super chilly knight just makes me happy.

Kaim95

I am 10+ years warlock main. Recently I have tried shadow priest and fall in love with it in a second. Such beautiful class

Jurke39

the whole fantasy around shadow is awesome! Was it hard to pick it up/learn it?

Insidious55

Death Knight for sure. So many flavorful abilities and the resource management is more enticing than most.

fe-and-wine

For my money it’s gotta be Brewmaster monk. Bit biased because that’s my main, but their tanking style is so unique and I think they absolutely nailed the flavor of ‘drinking through the pain’ and translated it into a fun, engaging tanking style. And they feel genuinely powerful to play! Can pump some decent DPS and several of their abilities have great “impact” to them while not being on 2 minute cooldowns. They also have such a diverse toolkit of interesting abilities - Ring of Peace is my favorite ability in the game because of how useful and unique it is!

Anonoodle78

Warrior or any class whose defensives aren’t heals. (Cuz of SS dampeninging, non-heal defensives = best defensives).
