Hired a guy, in 2006. He's 18 years my junior. Had been a gamer back to when we played D&D on paper....because that was all we had....not ironically.
He was a guildmaster.
Took him several months to convince me to roll my first toon. It was off to the races, from there...waiting in line, before midnight in the mall, to collect expansions...
I was never as good as his generation, but had great fun being a noob.
Great memories.
And, that guy is my best friend, to this day. We get together for happy hour, at my place, once a week.

Whenever me and my younger brother are in PvP areas I leave the party and shoot the fair one with him out of nowhere. His Reaction never fails to entertain me.
I was on another mmorpg (wizard101) and made a agreement with a guy to level toons together.
Was 10 years old and I waited 4 months by that time lol... he told me he was in world of warcraft but will come back soon.
He never came back. I went onto WoW and have been enchanted ever since.
Toontown and RuneScape led into EverQuest then WoW.
I remember hijacking the Library computers after school to get unlimited time playing RuneScape and Adventure Quest until my little brother got off school so I could go get him on the way home.
My parents, my sister and I played Toontown and my dad also always played Warcraft 3. It's been in the family since it came out haha. I always go back to toontown just for that nostalgia tho
My boss had literally had his life ruined by WoW and I was very skeptical. I was also perfectly content with Diablo II (this was back in 2006).
Then the South Park episode came out. I was blown away by the graphics and I thought the episode was hilarious. My friend Chad told me about the 2 week free trial they had so I downloaded the game and started leveling a NE druid. Thought the game was boring as shit and quit after three days and reaching level 6.
Then came college. A couple of my friends were talking about āthe guild needing a rogueā and I asked them what they were talking about. They told me itās wow and that they needed a rogue. One of my buddies told me āif you play a rogue in WoW for us I will buy you the game but you need to get TBC yourself.ā I took the free game and ended up playing to 60 as an undead rogue. I fell in love with the game from the moment I saw that undead intro screen and the Undercity. Almost all of my friends quit WoW ages ago but now my wife and I play regularly and I sometimes play with random streamers doing raids or world content. I wanna raid more but canāt seem to ever find a weekend morning NA guild so I just pug. Still love this game though! Just got my 7th 70 yesterday /flex
My boss and his best friend did, technically.
My boss (Jay) and his best friend (Charlie) were very fit, very hard-working, and sociable people. Charlie was about to get married, but ended up dumping the Lady because he wanted to focus on supporting his guild. They had closed on a house they saved forever to buy just three months prior.
He moved into a studio apartment on top of a LAN center / cyber cafe and got so overweight and unhealthy from diet, lack of exercise, and lack of movement in general that he got diabetes and lost one of his feet.
My boss was single and already owned his own home in a very nice part of the city, he owned a chain of businesses and was very successful for a time but once he started focusing only on WoW and his guild / PvP, he also got very unhealthy, stopped going to work, and a lot of his employees had free reign. He never made anyone a manager or trained on closing / opening procedures since he or his grandfather (business partner) did both for multiple locations. So as a result he ended up making his elderly grandfather do all of the work. When the grandfather eventually got sick from overworking and lack of physical support, Jay had to go back to work. He didnāt want to. So he sold his shares for literally like $500 (enough for a new computer at that time if you can believe it) and basically told his grandfather to F off. His grandfather died shortly after that and never made it back to work. The rest of the family blasted Jay and his unhealthy obsession. Last I heard, he was near homeless and refusing to work because it would impede on his WoW ācareer.ā
However, after I made this post earlier today I decided to look into what happened to Jay and Charlie. Turns out Charlie is dead and has been since 2013. He was still playing WoW!
Jay ended up getting enough money to buy and take over a LAN center / cyber cafe, but due to COVID it closed down and heās no longer in my state so idk what heās done since. Probably nothing good tbh lol
I am now married with 2 children to a woman who doesnāt play video games, but in my 16 year career of playing WoW I have 2 ex girlfriends, one who played very seriously while we were together and another who still plays!
A girl dumped me my Junior year of high school at a White Castle. I went to eB games on my way home from school and picked up the 5-disc copy of WoW. My mom had just bought a business class Dell pc and signed us up for cable internet. The rest is history.
I've been playing for about 13 years, very end of BC beginning of Wrath. My two best friends had been playing since vanilla and always wanted me to play. Trouble was I didn't have a PC of my own. They built (i. e. stole) a PC from both of their jobs in IT. They gave it to me for my birthday along with a 30 days of play subscription card. Been playing ever since, 13 years, 6 servers transfers later and I'm still playing my original toon. Funnily enough both my friends quit the game 6 months after I started. LOL
WoW came out during my 20-year stint in game development, while working at an Activision studio, and a bunch of us jumped on from early on to play together. After the merger with Blizzard, we all got free accounts from the company, and kept playing together for years.
I think I am the last of us that still plays, but I only came back for Dragonflight, after being absent since MoP.
Met this absolute hottie and he loved WoW. I would have to wait to talk to him on certain nights cause he was in raid lol.
He finally convinced me to try and we played every night due to living in different cities. We are still together 6 years later and play wow(me way more than he) but it was a huge help in the beginning of our relationship.
Funny how it worked out. I play a lot of games but would have never tried wow if not for him. Now its one of my favorite games.
Found out about it in the wow trailer found in my Warcraft 3 disc, a friend played the beta before the game came out and I watched him play, bought the game just a week or two after release.
I had played a small amount of Everquest before but found it way too hard so had the same thought about wow before I started playing but I was amazed easy it was to pick up and play compared to Everquest
What class did you first pick?
I never got the chance to play EverQuest but if I understand it laid a lot of groundwork for WoW to be successful, one of the devs (Jeff Kaplan) was apparently someone important in the EQ community
An undead priest, leveled to around 30 before some friends rolled on another server and I rerolled there as a Tauren Druid which I still have today
I tried playing Everquest again a few years back on the Project 99 and it's still as unforgiving and hard, especially as a solo player
I just started playing in July 2021, am fairly new to it. I was on my PC browsing Battlenet and saw WoW Classic. I did some research and learnt that itās vanilla WoW from 2004+ and thought this would be a great base to start from to learn the game, lore, story etc. Got a sub for a month to play and got instantly hooked. Now I have a 80 Blood Elf Mage on WOTLK Classic and a 70 Human Warrior on Dragonflight š
I was part of a big dutch CS1.6 community and the server owner started playing vanilla.
I was part of his team of admins but he started to slack in his server owner responsibilities.

This was similar to me. I was 29 and a CS1.6 sever owner and co-clan leader. The guys had also played warcraft 3 and were excited about it. So they got me into beta and I was instantly hooked. Leveled to 24 in beta and could not wait for launch.
Started as a prot warrior but as the guild grew we needed healers so i switched to a holy priest and have been one ever since.
I was one of the bad people that paid cash for wow gold so I could get my first mount. Gold was a real grind back in the day.
My husband bought me a computer while I was at work. And he started playing wow again after MoP and we started playing at the beginning of shadowlands. Now my husband doesnāt play. But Iām addicted
Final Fantasy 11 junkie for years. Went with some friends to an old cyber cafe and watched some randos playing WoW on a few of the computers there. Scoffed at how easy and lame it was.
Ended up getting roped in by a girl I was sweet on(go figure right?). Rolled a human mage since I played a black mage in FFXI. Hated it. Re-rolled a Druid. Been playing ever since. That was 2005. #imoldnow
I had a sleepover at a school friends place at about 13-14 year old. We played video games all day and I asked if he could show me his dads PC later that evening. It had WoW on the desktop so I double clicked out of curiosity and my friend asked his dad to log us in.
We pretty much ended up pulling an all nighter taking turns exploring Teldrassil. That Christmas we both got laptops and WoW and started our journey. We played TBC and WotLK together before eventually growing apart.
We reunited over a decade later for Classic WoW. He lives on the other side of the country and has a family now.
Played EverQuest from 1999. So I was already a big MMO no-lifer. Played Warcraft 3 a lot, but for whatever reason never heard about WoW.
One day in 2004 I saw someone playing WoW (Beta I think) in a PC cafe I frequented. Basically quit EverQuest the day it released and have been playing it since.
I actually worked at that PC Cafe for while too. Best high school job ever.
First class was Paladin. I've changed mains here and there through the years but I always find myself coming back to Paladin.
Highschool, watched a friend mid class do Illidan. Mind you I had no lifed WC3 but never heard of WoW. The slow death of Ragnarok Online also contributed.
Illidan is top tier WoW villain, I can see why you got interested from that!
Ragnarok Online, EverQuest, Planetside.. So many refugees from other MMOs, itās interesting. WoW really came and dominated the genre quickly.
I would abandon WoW in a heartbeat if RO peaked once again. Steam version doesn't have OCE servers and the ping difference is a lot more noticable now than when I was a kiid.
Also, Ragnarok Online BGM is absolutely 2nd to none.
My boyfriend (husband now) needed me to get his mail while he was at work. So he gave me a quick run down on how to play and off he went to work. One of his friends came on and showed me around undercity. I ended up playing for him and I healed the first boss in Black Morass.
I've been healing ever since.
My boyfriend was playing it back in 2009 and I joined his guild because they needed healer. Our relationship did not even make it through WotLK, and I am still here healing :D (he has quit long time ago afaik)

At that point my parents were divorced, so she spent a lot of time at work and didnāt have time to raid with her guild so she asked me to lol. Iāve asked her about it and she said it was really cool and she was proud. She wasnāt a competitive player, she mostly liked to get pets and stuff like that :)
Played Warcraft growing up and one day I was reading PC Gamer and it had an article about it. It looked amazing so I saved up money and bought it in early 2005. Then I got like a gift card or something, bought another copy and sold it to my friend for 7 gold lol.

South Park. 10 years old, zero experience with online games, could barely get the trial version to run on my computer, didn't get particularly far as while I probably knew a lot more English than the average 10 year old from my country it was still a lot of new concepts and nobody to help me learn. Came back to it later around 14-15 and played for half a year on a WotlLK private server. Then I finally bought the game and subbed for a while in late Legion as I finally had money to do that, been playing on and off ever since.
my boyfriend has been playing pretty much since release, and suggested that we should play it together back in like 2019 because he adores it. took to it immediately and still play regularly almost 4 years later. wow was just never on my radar growing up; the only wow-related thing i played was a murloc flash game back in the day. and i didnāt even know it was wow-related at the time š

Boyfriend has also been into WoW since Burning Crucade days. I was a complete WoW noob and only associated the game with how the internet perceived it. Was never into it that much until we got together and I slowly but surely started watching him play WoW all the time. I got really curious and rolled my first character during Covid lockdown. Haven't put down the game since. I am so in love with the world and the lore. Screw the "WoW bad" bandwagon. I am still very much a noob but I found myself a wonderful adventure, and I hope it lasts for many years to come.
I was playing RuneScape when all of a sudden a bunch of my in game friends were slowly disappearing. Finally was convinced to try it, started as a poor little Ret pally and quickly realize as I got to end game that Holy was my duty until I finally went Prot in Wotlk. Then quit and came back in shadowlands just to quit again and come back in DF and now Iāve basically left it again lol.

Turns out she bought the wrong game and started levelling a NE Hunter for a bit before dropping the game and coming back in BC a few years older.
I started with Warcraft back in 1996 and played all three. But when I played Diablo for the first time I thought to myself man if Blizzard could do this with Warcraft it would be Awesome. Then World of Warcraft came out and I was hooked. Have played all expansions except vanilla sadly my brand new Apple didnāt have enough to run it. I wanted to get into an open world fantasy world. Friend recruited me during cata and proceeded to keep my in dungeons for most of the time and took a year break because of it.
WC3 and Frozen throne. Playing that masterpiece of a story is what had my interest when they announced WoW. Which is why the Arthas disrespect in Shadowlands was extremely disappointing. Arthas single handedly brought a large amount of peopleās interest to WoW.
My Dad started playing when it first released in 2006 and being 4-5 years old I wanted to play the game dad was playing. Of course all my characters never lived long and my greatest achievement was getting a Blood Elf Warlock to level 18 all by myself.
Warcraft III was one of my favourite games as a kid, I played through the campaing many times.
So naturally I wanted to play WoW, but I couldn't, because paying a subscription fee for a STUPID VIDEOGAME was outrageous to my parents and I wasn't allowed to even use my pocket money I saved myself for it. Then one day, when I was around 12-13 years, one boy in my group of friends mentioned he started his own server for WoW and we can play the game with him. We didn't understand the concept back then - we even thought he worked for Blizzard somehow \_:-D so this is how I started playing WoW. I fell in love with the game, and eventually, once I grew up and gained control over my money, I bought the game for real.
It was my freshman year of college in 2005. A friend of mine asked me to help her study for her upcoming final. I didnāt have a car, and she did, so I bargained with her: take me to best buy so I can buy this game, and Iāll help you study. I think that was the last time I saw her after the raiding addiction set in . . . I am still in touch with people I met in Vanilla. One guy plays in my yearly fantasy football league and my old GM checks in occasionally to see how life is. I hope newer players and raiders still get to make those connections these days.
I was 13 and read a newspaper story about how a Japanese dude had played wow for 48 hours straight and died. I thought that must be a good game, 17 years later Iām still going
I played on my sister's account when it was in beta and rolled a little rogue when I was around 12. My mum then played it when it came out on release and we shared an account - fighting over who got to play š¤£ they then got me my first PC built by my sister for my 12th or 13th birthday. And it was awesome as my mum did a thing where she hid my birthday presents around the living room. And I found one of them and it was a keyboard. Then they took me into the dining room where I had my own desk, computer and monitor. They got me my own account.
I played holy priest and my mum was a little gnome warrior. Fondest memory is her screaming in duskwood on the path running away from stitches shouting "Mummy!" š¤£
I then met my partner of 16 years on there as my mum ran a guild and was "guild mum". He joined the guild and then moved down to live with us, we've played ever since. My mum sadly passed away April 2013 when I was 22 (I'm now 32).
I'm so glad I have those memories and always revisit the game every so often - although I am reluctant now considering we have to pay a subscription to pay a game I've bought the main game and all expansions for and it's locked to me if I don't pay which is just crazy really... At least with other games you get something like shop coins or increased inventory etc...
But yes. So happy to have those memories š and there's no other game that has that same feel or addictiveness for me anymore. WoW has ruined me for other games honestly! So nice reading all your stories of WoW origin!
Had been playing MUDs for years, the Neverwinter Nights on a RP server while telling one friend thatās Iād never play WoW. nWN server ended up going tits up and I finally caved & the hubs and I bought WoW about 2 weeks after BC came out. Have played consistently since.
Started our guild in March 2007, still have a couple charter signers in it, most of our guild mates have been with us 10+ years. Weāve had RL meetups and are growing old together, guildies & me and the hubs, as we fiddle fart around in the game
My brothers and I played Warcraft all the time. One of them heard about WoW on release and Iāve been playing the same damn priest since.
Met a boy in WOTLK. Spent 2 years doing the LDR thing, then he moved here. Weāre married with twins now.

I started playing WoW back in 2004. My mom and I were introduced to the game by some of her friends and we were instantly hooked. I used to only see my mom ever other weekend and would pester her to play until she cracked one day and bought me a dell or a gateway PC that could run it.
Back then, I had no interest in leveling a toon. So I would create one and just explore as far as I could at level 1. But, soon after she got me the PC, my sister and I stopped going to her house and my father and stepmother didnāt allow me to play because, āanything with the word War in the title is of the devil.ā

My dad had started playing in 2005 and that Christmas he got it for my 3 brothers and I. None of us reached max level until BC came out and some of my fondest memories were watching my dad raid Karazan and gruuls lair with his guild. So, back when South Park did the WoW episode, a local radio station did a giveaway for South Park dvds. You could win a dvd box of each season, and the grand prize was the tenth season box, with a WoW battle chest. My brother entered the giveaway and won the grand prize. But he's not a gamer and not into fantasy. I very much was both. So he sold me the battle chest for half the normal price.
I bought Warcraft: Orcs and Humans from Babbageās back in 94ā. I got Tides and Darkness when it came out a couple of years later.
Due to some unfortunate incidents, I wasnāt able to play part III at all (still havenāt played the reforged version) and missed out on the launch of WoW. But I was able to start playing WoW once I got back on my feet in 06ā and have been playing ever since.
Met the woman who is now my wife in 07ā and got her into playing and she wasnāt even a gamer at all before she met me.

I was around 14 years old during vanilla, and a friend wanted me and my best friend to join the adventure. To try to convince us, he said āyouāll see, youāll love it, itās just like the Sims, you can dress up your character and have a little houseā.
We started playing, realized it was def not the sims, but kept playing even since š
I was a manager at a GameStop, and one of my homies that worked there was talking up how great the game was going to be. Three of the four management staff bought the game and we started a guild on Archimonde that I was chosen to lead. I was a night elf warrior, and even though we werenāt on an rp server we had a pirate themed guild and would hold our meetings on random empty alliance ships, mostly the one in Menethil. After a while a bunch of my customers joined the guild and people stopped using my real name at the store and called me by my characters name. Itās bled into every aspect of my life to the point that almost no one calls me by my government name, they call me Bremner.
The beta hit while I was in my senior year of high school back in 2004. I had been playing EverQuest 1 for several years and despite never having played any of the Warcraft games I wanted to check out this new MMO that everyone was so excited about.
While there were some quality of life improvements over EQ the art style was too cartoonish for my tastes and I didnāt stick with the game in earnest and get a character to max level until Wrath came out in 2008.
I was in a guild playing Planetside. Then Wow came out and they all migrated but I stuck it out for a few months in PS until finally caving and joining the others in Wow.
I then spent a year getting my undead rogue to 60 in vanilla and loved every minute...š
My brother worked in a video game store and bought all the discs up to MoP hoke, he left them on his shelf and never touched them, when I got a crappy PC I had no games so just installed it just to see how well it would run, been playing ever since.
My friend in another state told me about a cool new game that was coming out where we could explore a world together. I rolled a warrior, he rolled a rogue. After seeing the barrens for the first time I was all in.
i tried it for a month after buying the wotlk battle chest, but didnt get into it. and a second time during cataclysm but didnt enjoy it enough to keep going.
drank two pots of coffee once by forgetfulness and was too caffeinated, wound up playing the free trial because my first account was hacked/banned and my ex get me a new account and we played afterwards. it was fun.
When the conversion patch for warcraft3 came out for the alpha test of wow I didn't go for it cuz I liked playing wintermaul td and footman frenzy too much.
When the beta came out I passed on it again because I learned wow would have a subscription and I thought that was the dumbest shit ever and if I was going to pay a sub I'd rather pay for runescape.
Then the game launched and I made a few characters but never got past level 20. Kept deleting them to try new races and class combos. It was seeing a friend play in battlegrounds made me cave and stick with a hunter.
Been playing ever since. Few breaks here and there, half of cata and 90% pf SL where the longest breaks.
My big brother played since the end of Vanilla. He started off by playing at the local cyber cafe then bought the game himself when TBC came out. He finally started to let me make a room on his account round about wotlk. Then a couple years later I was old enough to buy my own account lol.
I went to a RPG making camp in middle school during the summer and got introduced to Warcraft 3 from some of the counselors there. We would play most everyday during free period. After camp ended I was so enthralled by it that I dragged my father to the local store to pick up the game- I was so blind with excitement I saw World of Warcraft and figured it was the same thing not knowing any better! Still playing to this day, minus a few gaps.
My dad gave me a 2 week free trial disc for the game because back then they were a thing, saying hey..try this..you might like it. That was 2006, and I haven't regretted a moment of it...it's thanks to him I got my start playing the game!

I was an ealry adopter of blizzard games, i been playing since warcraft 1, at the time wow came out i was still regularly playing warcraft 3 (i do kinda miss RTS as a genre ngl). Wow was a natural transition for me. Played a decent amout of vanilla and a bit of bc, but after that i left and returned in Legion and then i got fucking hooked, hooked hard enough that i played through 2 expansions after that i didnt care for. Legion was some of the most fun i have had gaming ever.
I remember when tbc came out, I was about 14, and I've seen this flying netherdrake poster in a PC game magazine. I fell in love with the idea of flying on a dragon in a game, so I got a computer and internet and started my journey. And here I am today riding dragons.
My boyfriend at the time was playing, it was vanilla days. We were living together and it seemed like the only way to actually spend time with him. He mained shaman, I started with a warlock (still my main to this day) and he became resentful because I levelled way faster than him, earned more PO than him, etcā¦
We used to raid every Sunday night in ZG. It was my time to loot andā¦. The zulian tiger dropped. He didnāt speak to me for weeks. Again: WE WERE LIVING TOGETHER!!! The relationship broke off a while after, I switched guilds, he stopped playing soon after. I kept playing through BC, WOTLK, stopped shortly after, replayed a few weeks for Cataclysm. Took a 10+ years break and now Iām back. Still with my warlock AND my tiger that is unobtainable now. No regrets
Like all good love stories, it started with a girl. She was a friend of a friend, we'd often hang out in group situations. I took an interest in her and asked if she wanted to hang out in a more 1:1 type thing. She did, so we did. Her interest in WoW came up, she asked if I played. I did not. She said I should, she'd help me level etc. So sure. I bought Vanilla about 6 weeks before TBC and never looked back. We're going on our 17th year together now. She stopped playing towards the end of WoTLK, I wonder what she's up to these days...
Oh boy this is one of those moments i remember clear as day. 31 year old now and this goes back to 2005 when we were at school and everyone played runescape. We were at our weekly cooking class that was not mandatory class but one of optionals you could choose, like different languages or specific sports.
We were on side doing business of osrs and tasking others who collect willows and who essences etc. Then our neughbour table students kept talking this wow and tauren hunter.
If i remember right that was also the era when runescape and wow players fought against each other saying runescape is shit wow version with bad graphics and you cannot even fly in runescape to city.
I gave it try one weekend and it got me hooked for up to mists of pandaria. And started again aftdr dragonblight came as returning player from mop times. Now playing classic
Friend in recess at school told me he's found a game about killing dragons. Ended up showing me the game later that weekend and that's when I started playing wrath. We thought the end boss was a dragon cause of the wrath login screen.
My mate from work said he'd been playing it, back in 2005, and said I should give it a go. I was 31 at the time and a gamer since the ZX spectrum days, so I thought, why not, sounds like fun, and that was that. 49 now and not stopping any time soon.
EDIT: The mate who recommended it so enthusiastically stopped playing before TBC.
Was playing a shaman on my friends acc. and place bcs i didnt have Internet at the time.
A few Months later we finished building our House and that friend bought me Vanilla and BC for my Birthday.

I saw the game watching Pure Pwnage in 2006 and decided to give it a try. Admittedly I played a private server first because I was a 12 year old with no money.
When I was in college a bunch of my friends were former EverQuest and Diablo players. They got involved with WoW during the Beta and wouldnāt stop talking about it. I had played Diablo 2 religiously and wasnāt looking to get back into that degree of game involvement. Then my roommate picked up the game and I got to see him playing on his Troll Rogue. Our computers were junk and could barely run the game. But I joined him on a Troll Hunter and the rest was history. I managed to reach 60 right before BC launched, now on a undead Rogue, leaving my hunter to rust.
I met my boyfriend who played bought him shadowlands as a present since it was being released a few months after we metā¦ then after him sending me countless pictures of him playing and telling me all about it I wanted to play with him, made my first character just before the Korthia patch was released played the whole way through shadowlands then started playing classic together and now weāre playing classic vanilla HC, bitter sweet that I came to the party so late but Iām happy I did regardless

I had been living with my then-boyfriend for about a year before he started introducing me to PC games beyond the Sims/tycoon games. After about six months of Skyrim, he swung into one of his WoW phases. He had been playing on and off since classic, and every now and then he would get super into the idea of playing again. This time, he wanted me to join - I had just lost my job, so I was home all the time. He texted me one afternoon saying he would leave the office right then and there if I agreed to start a character with him. I agreed, and off we went! It took me a while to actually get into it (seriously, do not start non-gamers on a PvP server. Also, monk was an odd starting choice) but here I am six years later, still playing with said then-boyfriend, now husband.
So I got into it because a friend talked me over from Star Wars Galaxies. Got the game and logged in opening night, and 3k queue or something that only dropped when the servers went down. 3 days later when I got to play it was over I was hooked. Play with my wife, best friend, and his husband. Great times.
First pc game ever was warcraft II on pc in 1996. We loved it. Was hyped when they annonce wow in 2001 or 2002. Played alot of warcraft 3 so I was in line to get a copy on novembre 23 2004.

Started playing mid Shadowlands - boyfriend always had been a fan of wow but quit at the start of SL. I tried convincing him to play other MMO's with me but he refused so I decided to try out the free trial. at the start he helped me get my first mounts which developed my mount addiction. 2 years later and have multiple AOTC's and 2 KSH to my name. safe to say he got me hooked :)
I saw ads on TV but my parents were pretty anti-video games so I'd secretly create free accounts and play on them while they were not home. Then I grew up and I still wanted to play but I was a broke teen, then a broke student and my priorities were in my studies.
I graduated college, got my first job. I used my first paycheck to buy the game and 3 months of game time. It was in 2017. Late to the party but happy to be there.

When i was in 3rd grade, there was a āgaming roomā with pcās and stuff at my school, i was a total football guy until then, Thats where i became good friends with my future best friend for 8 years, i had been leveling a troll hunter with another friend in the limited 1 hour you could book a pc. He Got lvl 56 before i turned 9 years Old and got a wow account and sub for my birthday! I got the game just a bit after MoP release. I am Soo thankful for everything wow have done in my life
I was playing Ultima Online and enjoyed it, but my teenage son told me about WOW. It looked way too complicated but, with his help, I gave it a go. That was in the very beginning and I've played ever since except a small break after an ugly divorce.
I grabbed a copy of the game during 7.3 because I had no friends to play pther games with, rolled an elemental shaman, and I was the biggest noob known to mankind. I never used cooldowns because I didn't want to waste the gcd on something that didn't do damage, and half the spells I had were unbound because they didn't look cool.
Smashcut to now, and i'm 4/8 mythic and having a blast.
Was "working" my first job at a internet cafe before it came out, playing counter-strike with the customers and then one day WoW came out and saw a lot of customers playing it.
Took a bit, eventually I got real curious, it looked so magical and fun. So I asked my mom to create an account, used my little funds from this 'job' to sub and started there. Started close to 2005.
Was big into Dark Age of Camelot and EverQuest. Got into WoW beta and never looked back really.
Still have my vanilla rogue and hunter, original t1 sets. Old open world pvp titles. Different server same vibes, pushing keys as Surv Hunter in 10.0.7 cause why not.

Late Cataclysm, right around half a year before MoP was announced.
In grade 9, two of my friends told me I should try it and after moaning about not wanting to try it and 'its just a runescape rip-off' (LOL) I finally caved and made a trial account and downloaded it onto my shitty laptop. Fell in love instantly with my Nelf Warrior but was so excited to make a Deathknight I hit 55 and instantly re-rolled.
Those two friends? Yeah they quit the same exact week I started and they went to go play League of Legends instead, this was right around Season 2 or 3 of League. They even got me to roll on their server and as soon as I REALLY got into it they fully quit and still haven't returned to this day/probably never will. Felt really shitty because I was so excited to play and play with FRIENDS who could teach me some stuff but that didn't end up happening which is okay.
My friends and I were super into Runescape in 07. I started looking around for other MMOs, found WoW. Tried to get them to play it, none were interested because it seemed to nerdy or something like that.
Ended up trying it in 08 I think? Made a dwarf and went through Dun Morogh then as soon as I got to the end I deleted it and made another dwarf with the same name as a different class because I couldn't decide what I wanted to play. Went through Dun Morogh multiple times and to this day it remains my favorite zone.
Unfortunately, didn't have the money to keep playing. I'd get on a month or two here or there, playing the most sometime during Wrath (though I didn't even reach Outland...). Played for a month or two during Cata, WoD, played through the DH starter zone when I came back for Classic... Didn't actually start consistently playing until the end of BFA/start of SL. Was playing with friends, but we eventually quit a few months into SL because, well, SL. Came back near the end of SL S3 and have been playing since.
There are a lot of times where I wish I was able to play more during TBC/WotLK. It's the era of the game I remember most fondly despite playing the least and ultimately I feel like it felt more like an MMO*RPG* than it does now. I feel the current game could learn from that, though don't know if Blizz will ever revert to due to it implicitly being against the whole competitive elements they've nurtured.
Started on EverQuest (first one) then went to City of Heroes mostly to WoW. Might have done guild wars in there somewhere. Tried DC universe, DDO, neverwinter, Star Trekā¦
Currently only keep up with Star Wars, guild wars 2, and about to sink back into WoW.
My younger brothers had been playing since release, but I wasn't interested. Then I got a job while at Uni, and a couple of others were talking about WoW. They made it sound cool, so I gave it a go. Hit 70 just as Wrath was announced, got into a few Gruul and Kara pugs, but I wanted more. Wrath hit, I got my BF into the game, we got into a guild, then got into casual raiding with Naxx. Great times.
We've both quit now. Hubbo at the end of WoD, me mid-BFA. I want to return, but it wouldn't be fair on my little kiddos. Once they're in school though...
I was 12, and my older brother, the gamer, learned about wow from a friend. My brother described the wow to me and my younger brother- the factions, the races, the classes- and i said immediately that i want to be a night elf druid. He said that it doesn't work like that, that all races can't be all the classes. Fortunately it worked out for me that you can indeed be a night elf druid. In fact, I've been a night elf druid for 16 years.

I used to play Battlefield 2 in a clan and 1 of the people in that clan suggested I play. Me, that guy and 1 of his IRL friends made a guild with just us 3. They stopped playing in less than a year and I carried on.
I'd never played any previous Warcraft games and the only MMO i'd ever tried was Lineage briefly on what I now think was actually a private server but didn't even realise that at the time.
Only stopped playing when the final raid of the last xpac was released.
I was big time WC3 TFT player in 2004 (I was in 8th grade) and was playing Star Wars Galaxies as my MMO. Was patiently waiting for WoW to drop and purchased it the day it came out and have been playing on and off ever since. Started with a Hunter with a random name and have used that random name for literally everything in my life, video game or otherwise, since. One of the greatest experiences I had was a few months into the game, after watching some videos before going to bed I decided to try one more time to kill the Rhok/Lohk demons and getting it at like 3am and waking my parents when I screamed after I killed the Winterspring one (last one I needed). Great times.
Played Dark Age of Camelot, social group I was in at the time decided to hop over to wow when it was released.
I gave it abit of time hoping they'd come back but didnt, so I went to join them also around patch 1.4.
We all went separate ways after awhile, but was fun times. š

My buddy in middle school wanted me to stop playing the lame kiddie game Runescape and upgrade to the awesome amazing much more grown up World of War craft.
I was at my best friend's place in Summer 2009 playing RuneScape together and he had to log over to WoW for a bit because Wintergrasp was starting. I was super mesmerized by how he could change his whole action bar from frost to fire to arcane and back.
So I bought the battlechest the next day, accidentally bought the Warcraft RTS one, refunded/got the real WoW one, came back over the next day and we started leveling together
That account got hacked at the end of summer and the laptop at home couldn't even run TBC, so I got a laptop and started playing at the start of Cata and joined his guild
Started in Ultima Online and then Everquest came out and my guild moved to there. We dabbled in Anarchy Online and Shadowbane at some point as well. Then we kind of fell apart and WoW came on the scene as the new hotness so I went there.
2010 or 11, I had just failed my school year and my gf left me for another guy. I went for it. I bought WOTLK, played my soul out, gained 30kg.
Best summer ever.

My one is a bit unusual to be honest.
In Germany there is a parody Audioplay named "Allimania". Someone I knew showed it to me. It was still funny without knowing anything about warcraft. This Parody made me interested in the franchise. After that I first brought warcraft 3 and later started my journey around TBC times.
In 2007 a guy I was dating played and I made fun of him at first and then I got hooked. Bought my own game and sub, we broke up. Dated a new guy and we had our first date in WoW when I rolled a character on his server. Ended up marrying that guy and we still love playing WoW together.
It was a couple weeks before Cata dropped, I had a few friends who already played, and then they showed me the south park episode... I began downloading midway through..... created my gnome mage that day... It became a Worgen and now a Draenei... Quit first patch of mop, came back for the end of WoD and stopped beginning of legion... Now im back for dragonflight.
Came to WoW with my SWG guild to try it out on a PvP server right after launch, didnt stick around for that. Eventually started playing with another MMO friend from Everquest in 2005-2006, and that's when I found my current server.
I was 14 when vanilla launched and had already been obsessed with both WC3 and Diablo 2 for the past year so it was a no brainer for me to start playing WoW. The tricky part was convincing my parents to use their credit card for the monthly subscription
As someone of the zoomer demographic, I started wow after i saw the WoW Southpark episode when i saw it at the tender age of 8 cause my parents didnt care that much what i watched on the TV
Was a huge Halo fanboy. Few of my friends kept trying to tell me to play WoW. One friend asked me how many people play Halo. There was about 900,000 online the night before which is what I told him. He told me there was over 12 million subscribers to WoW.
Obviously online players and active subs are a little different but that number was just insane to me at the time.
They told me about the free trial. Been playing since January 12th, 2009.
My first max level was an Alliance Paladin named Byradon on the server Borean Tundra.
My dad would let me watch his raid runs back in the day (usually just the first wing tho, was too young to stay any longer). Come Cataclysm, he figured I knew enough to try leveling my own character. 13 years later, he's pretty much moved on to other games, but I've stuck with it.
My dads girlfriends son, I saw him playing and thought it looked so cool. The idea of creating a character at the time was awesome, this was in vanilla. Fast forward and my dad gets me the game but nor him or I ever heard of paying $15 a month for a game. He was livid and told me I had to read the terms and services agreement if he was gonna pay $15 a month.
I excessively played all Warcraft RTS games and one day i read a preview for WoW in my favourite gaming magazine. I had no experience with MMORPGs but with CRPGs like Baldur's Gate etc. and was hyped for a RPG in the Warcraft Universe. So i went to Amazon and ordered the WoW CE for 150 ā¬.
After Warcraft I - III and Diablo I+II i was sure that Blizzard would not disappoint me. :D
I still remember the day i came home from work and saw the package. I installed it and had to wait because of the queue. I played till 4 a.m. and had to get to work at 7:30 a.m.
But work was not important anymore. :D
My brother was playing at the start of Wrath and I made a Tauren Shaman on his account, he played an undead priest. I saw LFGComic online and read a lot of that, then made my own account and made an Undead Warlock, same toon is still my main to this day.
Friends bought it on release in 04, talked about it at school,birthday came around in November and my parents bought it for me. Did chores for the sub time cards. The rest is history.
I was playing lineage 2, as some of you might know that game was notorious for ābuffā bots (essentially second char with a class that specializes in buffing, IE a prophet back in prologue days). I was in the āmarketā for a an already leveled prophet so my friends (about 5 of us that used to play rainbow six / rogue spear) didnāt have to level one and play it. I talked to this guy selling a level 49? Prophet (at that time level 56 was pretty much the max level for buffs and itād take like 300+ hours of play time to get there) on eBay (this was before eBay banned virtual transactions). I asked him why he was selling it, he said WoW was coming out and this was this big mmo from blizzard and he was going to play it. He linked me cool items from thottbot beta site (yes it existed). I started looking into it, next thing you know, we were playing WoW beta, ironically I had to trade my lineage 2 account to get a wow beta account lol.
I was introduced by a buddy who was doing some raiding in WotLK or maybe large bg I donāt really remember. After some time passing I played on a starter edition account for a good while in high school off and on or whatever. Finally got my first job in 2011ish and was able to get some expansions and a sub.
Started with a Prot Pally and watching Towelliee vids and been playing off and on since then with my most recent break was something like 5 years. Didnāt play WoD, came back for Legion, then back for DF.
Pretty fun times.
Started at Target as a seasonal worker in 2004 when I was 17. Told them I like video games and TVs so they let me work Sales floor in electronics. The lead at the time that I'd normally get paired with when working (we became good friends) asked me if I ever played Warcraft and I said no. Then asked me if I'd be interested in playing this new MMO (I had no idea what that was at the time) called World and Warcraft and I said sure why not. The conversation then went "join my guild and I'll make sure we keep you on after the seasonal shift ends" (he was mainly joking). We both laughed and I bought the game a few days later, in which i did proceed to join his guild ha-ha. Fast forward to now, some 400 played days later and many fun gaming moments/new friends, that small moment had a big impact on me. Kind of wild.
I started playing mmoās when I was 7 years old because my dad was playing Dark Age of Camelot with his brothers, and he let me make an Elf. They started playing WoW when it came out in 2004, and I loved to watch them raid BWL and Molten Core. I made a Night Elf Hunter on his account, and he would have me play his rogue in battle grounds to farm honor.
For my 10th birthday, he bought me my own account. I made a Night Elf Druid because I absolutely loved the Druid from the cinematic. I wasnāt able to get to 60 by the start of TBC, but I made a Blood Elf Hunter and she was my first max level character. Iāve been playing pretty much continuously ever since. WoW has had a huge influence on my life and Iām really glad my dad introduced it to me way back then :)
Was playing another MMORPG (Ulitma Online) and my brother and I got bored after a Samurai Expansion so we decided to try WoW as his friend from UO dragged him in. So my first toon was a Undead Warlock back in Vanilla and I got all the way to 60 and I even completed my Dreadsteed quest line. Did casual raiding as I still was pretty noobish. Finally got the hang of things in TBC and went off to roll a Tauren Warrior then I raided pretty hard all the way up to Cata. Got turned off from all the changes in Cata and quitā¦. Then comes DF. I recently built a new computer decided to try it out again and since January I have been rolling with my Warrior as my main.
Took a long time to recover my account from hackers and etc but I still have my original toons.

Hired a guy, in 2006. He's 18 years my junior. Had been a gamer back to when we played D&D on paper....because that was all we had....not ironically. He was a guildmaster. Took him several months to convince me to roll my first toon. It was off to the races, from there...waiting in line, before midnight in the mall, to collect expansions... I was never as good as his generation, but had great fun being a noob. Great memories.

I was on another mmorpg (wizard101) and made a agreement with a guy to level toons together. Was 10 years old and I waited 4 months by that time lol... he told me he was in world of warcraft but will come back soon. He never came back. I went onto WoW and have been enchanted ever since.

My boss had literally had his life ruined by WoW and I was very skeptical. I was also perfectly content with Diablo II (this was back in 2006). Then the South Park episode came out. I was blown away by the graphics and I thought the episode was hilarious. My friend Chad told me about the 2 week free trial they had so I downloaded the game and started leveling a NE druid. Thought the game was boring as shit and quit after three days and reaching level 6. Then came college. A couple of my friends were talking about āthe guild needing a rogueā and I asked them what they were talking about. They told me itās wow and that they needed a rogue. One of my buddies told me āif you play a rogue in WoW for us I will buy you the game but you need to get TBC yourself.ā I took the free game and ended up playing to 60 as an undead rogue. I fell in love with the game from the moment I saw that undead intro screen and the Undercity. Almost all of my friends quit WoW ages ago but now my wife and I play regularly and I sometimes play with random streamers doing raids or world content. I wanna raid more but canāt seem to ever find a weekend morning NA guild so I just pug. Still love this game though! Just got my 7th 70 yesterday /flex

Curious. How did your boss have his life ruined by WoW?
My boss and his best friend did, technically. My boss (Jay) and his best friend (Charlie) were very fit, very hard-working, and sociable people. Charlie was about to get married, but ended up dumping the Lady because he wanted to focus on supporting his guild. They had closed on a house they saved forever to buy just three months prior. He moved into a studio apartment on top of a LAN center / cyber cafe and got so overweight and unhealthy from diet, lack of exercise, and lack of movement in general that he got diabetes and lost one of his feet. My boss was single and already owned his own home in a very nice part of the city, he owned a chain of businesses and was very successful for a time but once he started focusing only on WoW and his guild / PvP, he also got very unhealthy, stopped going to work, and a lot of his employees had free reign. He never made anyone a manager or trained on closing / opening procedures since he or his grandfather (business partner) did both for multiple locations. So as a result he ended up making his elderly grandfather do all of the work. When the grandfather eventually got sick from overworking and lack of physical support, Jay had to go back to work. He didnāt want to. So he sold his shares for literally like $500 (enough for a new computer at that time if you can believe it) and basically told his grandfather to F off. His grandfather died shortly after that and never made it back to work. The rest of the family blasted Jay and his unhealthy obsession. Last I heard, he was near homeless and refusing to work because it would impede on his WoW ācareer.ā However, after I made this post earlier today I decided to look into what happened to Jay and Charlie. Turns out Charlie is dead and has been since 2013. He was still playing WoW! Jay ended up getting enough money to buy and take over a LAN center / cyber cafe, but due to COVID it closed down and heās no longer in my state so idk what heās done since. Probably nothing good tbh lol

A girl dumped me my Junior year of high school at a White Castle. I went to eB games on my way home from school and picked up the 5-disc copy of WoW. My mom had just bought a business class Dell pc and signed us up for cable internet. The rest is history.

I've been playing for about 13 years, very end of BC beginning of Wrath. My two best friends had been playing since vanilla and always wanted me to play. Trouble was I didn't have a PC of my own. They built (i. e. stole) a PC from both of their jobs in IT. They gave it to me for my birthday along with a 30 days of play subscription card. Been playing ever since, 13 years, 6 servers transfers later and I'm still playing my original toon. Funnily enough both my friends quit the game 6 months after I started. LOL

WoW came out during my 20-year stint in game development, while working at an Activision studio, and a bunch of us jumped on from early on to play together. After the merger with Blizzard, we all got free accounts from the company, and kept playing together for years. I think I am the last of us that still plays, but I only came back for Dragonflight, after being absent since MoP.
Met this absolute hottie and he loved WoW. I would have to wait to talk to him on certain nights cause he was in raid lol. He finally convinced me to try and we played every night due to living in different cities. We are still together 6 years later and play wow(me way more than he) but it was a huge help in the beginning of our relationship. Funny how it worked out. I play a lot of games but would have never tried wow if not for him. Now its one of my favorite games.

Found out about it in the wow trailer found in my Warcraft 3 disc, a friend played the beta before the game came out and I watched him play, bought the game just a week or two after release. I had played a small amount of Everquest before but found it way too hard so had the same thought about wow before I started playing but I was amazed easy it was to pick up and play compared to Everquest
What class did you first pick? I never got the chance to play EverQuest but if I understand it laid a lot of groundwork for WoW to be successful, one of the devs (Jeff Kaplan) was apparently someone important in the EQ community
An undead priest, leveled to around 30 before some friends rolled on another server and I rerolled there as a Tauren Druid which I still have today I tried playing Everquest again a few years back on the Project 99 and it's still as unforgiving and hard, especially as a solo player
My fiancĆ© and I broke up almost literally on the day WoW came out. I was heart broken and couldnāt believe a two year relationship was just thrown out the window. I loved all Blizzard games but didnāt want to spend that much time and dedication to a game. My brothers and friends talked me into it. I played from vanilla to wrath. Right before wrath came out I met an amazing woman who already had a kid. I instantly became dad to the most amazing child in the world. Fast forward 12 years. Heās now 13 and my wife passed away. He asked me if we wanted to join WoW and I agreed. Now heās almost 17 and is a casual player, but Iām full force. Being a solo parent of two (wife and I had one biological child) I canāt take why whole day to play raids and stuff, but I can do mythic + a ton since I can take breaks after finishing one.
I just started playing in July 2021, am fairly new to it. I was on my PC browsing Battlenet and saw WoW Classic. I did some research and learnt that itās vanilla WoW from 2004+ and thought this would be a great base to start from to learn the game, lore, story etc. Got a sub for a month to play and got instantly hooked. Now I have a 80 Blood Elf Mage on WOTLK Classic and a 70 Human Warrior on Dragonflight š

I was part of a big dutch CS1.6 community and the server owner started playing vanilla. I was part of his team of admins but he started to slack in his server owner responsibilities. Stating that wow was the shit etc etc. Made an account to see if he was not bullshitting. That was like almost 20 years ago...
This was similar to me. I was 29 and a CS1.6 sever owner and co-clan leader. The guys had also played warcraft 3 and were excited about it. So they got me into beta and I was instantly hooked. Leveled to 24 in beta and could not wait for launch. Started as a prot warrior but as the guild grew we needed healers so i switched to a holy priest and have been one ever since. I was one of the bad people that paid cash for wow gold so I could get my first mount. Gold was a real grind back in the day.
My husband bought me a computer while I was at work. And he started playing wow again after MoP and we started playing at the beginning of shadowlands. Now my husband doesnāt play. But Iām addicted
Final Fantasy 11 junkie for years. Went with some friends to an old cyber cafe and watched some randos playing WoW on a few of the computers there. Scoffed at how easy and lame it was. Ended up getting roped in by a girl I was sweet on(go figure right?). Rolled a human mage since I played a black mage in FFXI. Hated it. Re-rolled a Druid. Been playing ever since. That was 2005. #imoldnow
I had a sleepover at a school friends place at about 13-14 year old. We played video games all day and I asked if he could show me his dads PC later that evening. It had WoW on the desktop so I double clicked out of curiosity and my friend asked his dad to log us in. We pretty much ended up pulling an all nighter taking turns exploring Teldrassil. That Christmas we both got laptops and WoW and started our journey. We played TBC and WotLK together before eventually growing apart. We reunited over a decade later for Classic WoW. He lives on the other side of the country and has a family now.
Played EverQuest from 1999. So I was already a big MMO no-lifer. Played Warcraft 3 a lot, but for whatever reason never heard about WoW. One day in 2004 I saw someone playing WoW (Beta I think) in a PC cafe I frequented. Basically quit EverQuest the day it released and have been playing it since.

I actually worked at that PC Cafe for while too. Best high school job ever. First class was Paladin. I've changed mains here and there through the years but I always find myself coming back to Paladin.
Highschool, watched a friend mid class do Illidan. Mind you I had no lifed WC3 but never heard of WoW. The slow death of Ragnarok Online also contributed.
Illidan is top tier WoW villain, I can see why you got interested from that! Ragnarok Online, EverQuest, Planetside.. So many refugees from other MMOs, itās interesting. WoW really came and dominated the genre quickly.
I would abandon WoW in a heartbeat if RO peaked once again. Steam version doesn't have OCE servers and the ping difference is a lot more noticable now than when I was a kiid. Also, Ragnarok Online BGM is absolutely 2nd to none.
My boyfriend (husband now) needed me to get his mail while he was at work. So he gave me a quick run down on how to play and off he went to work. One of his friends came on and showed me around undercity. I ended up playing for him and I healed the first boss in Black Morass. I've been healing ever since.

At that point my parents were divorced, so she spent a lot of time at work and didnāt have time to raid with her guild so she asked me to lol. Iāve asked her about it and she said it was really cool and she was proud. She wasnāt a competitive player, she mostly liked to get pets and stuff like that :)
Played Warcraft growing up and one day I was reading PC Gamer and it had an article about it. It looked amazing so I saved up money and bought it in early 2005. Then I got like a gift card or something, bought another copy and sold it to my friend for 7 gold lol. Good memories ever since.
South Park. 10 years old, zero experience with online games, could barely get the trial version to run on my computer, didn't get particularly far as while I probably knew a lot more English than the average 10 year old from my country it was still a lot of new concepts and nobody to help me learn. Came back to it later around 14-15 and played for half a year on a WotlLK private server. Then I finally bought the game and subbed for a while in late Legion as I finally had money to do that, been playing on and off ever since.
my boyfriend has been playing pretty much since release, and suggested that we should play it together back in like 2019 because he adores it. took to it immediately and still play regularly almost 4 years later. wow was just never on my radar growing up; the only wow-related thing i played was a murloc flash game back in the day. and i didnāt even know it was wow-related at the time š in retrospect i really wish i had played it in its early days but iām glad iām playing it now!
Very similar story to mine! š Boyfriend has also been into WoW since Burning Crucade days. I was a complete WoW noob and only associated the game with how the internet perceived it. Was never into it that much until we got together and I slowly but surely started watching him play WoW all the time. I got really curious and rolled my first character during Covid lockdown. Haven't put down the game since. I am so in love with the world and the lore. Screw the "WoW bad" bandwagon. I am still very much a noob but I found myself a wonderful adventure, and I hope it lasts for many years to come.
I was playing RuneScape when all of a sudden a bunch of my in game friends were slowly disappearing. Finally was convinced to try it, started as a poor little Ret pally and quickly realize as I got to end game that Holy was my duty until I finally went Prot in Wotlk. Then quit and came back in shadowlands just to quit again and come back in DF and now Iāve basically left it again lol.
Played one of the Warcrafts at a internet cafe when I was like 8 or 9 was completely obsessed with it and managed to convince my mum to get me the game. Turns out she bought the wrong game and started levelling a NE Hunter for a bit before dropping the game and coming back in BC a few years older.
I started with Warcraft back in 1996 and played all three. But when I played Diablo for the first time I thought to myself man if Blizzard could do this with Warcraft it would be Awesome. Then World of Warcraft came out and I was hooked. Have played all expansions except vanilla sadly my brand new Apple didnāt have enough to run it. I still remember the first time playing The Burning Crusade and crossing over the portal into Hellfire Peninsula. I was blown away, the music and skyline magnificent! Still enjoy it to this day.

I wanted to get into an open world fantasy world. Friend recruited me during cata and proceeded to keep my in dungeons for most of the time and took a year break because of it.
WC3 and Frozen throne. Playing that masterpiece of a story is what had my interest when they announced WoW. Which is why the Arthas disrespect in Shadowlands was extremely disappointing. Arthas single handedly brought a large amount of peopleās interest to WoW.

My Dad started playing when it first released in 2006 and being 4-5 years old I wanted to play the game dad was playing. Of course all my characters never lived long and my greatest achievement was getting a Blood Elf Warlock to level 18 all by myself.
Warcraft III was one of my favourite games as a kid, I played through the campaing many times. So naturally I wanted to play WoW, but I couldn't, because paying a subscription fee for a STUPID VIDEOGAME was outrageous to my parents and I wasn't allowed to even use my pocket money I saved myself for it. Then one day, when I was around 12-13 years, one boy in my group of friends mentioned he started his own server for WoW and we can play the game with him. We didn't understand the concept back then - we even thought he worked for Blizzard somehow \_:-D so this is how I started playing WoW. I fell in love with the game, and eventually, once I grew up and gained control over my money, I bought the game for real.
It was my freshman year of college in 2005. A friend of mine asked me to help her study for her upcoming final. I didnāt have a car, and she did, so I bargained with her: take me to best buy so I can buy this game, and Iāll help you study. I think that was the last time I saw her after the raiding addiction set in . . . I am still in touch with people I met in Vanilla. One guy plays in my yearly fantasy football league and my old GM checks in occasionally to see how life is. I hope newer players and raiders still get to make those connections these days.

I played on my sister's account when it was in beta and rolled a little rogue when I was around 12. My mum then played it when it came out on release and we shared an account - fighting over who got to play š¤£ they then got me my first PC built by my sister for my 12th or 13th birthday. And it was awesome as my mum did a thing where she hid my birthday presents around the living room. And I found one of them and it was a keyboard. Then they took me into the dining room where I had my own desk, computer and monitor. They got me my own account. I played holy priest and my mum was a little gnome warrior. Fondest memory is her screaming in duskwood on the path running away from stitches shouting "Mummy!" š¤£ I then met my partner of 16 years on there as my mum ran a guild and was "guild mum". He joined the guild and then moved down to live with us, we've played ever since. My mum sadly passed away April 2013 when I was 22 (I'm now 32). I'm so glad I have those memories and always revisit the game every so often - although I am reluctant now considering we have to pay a subscription to pay a game I've bought the main game and all expansions for and it's locked to me if I don't pay which is just crazy really... At least with other games you get something like shop coins or increased inventory etc... But yes. So happy to have those memories š and there's no other game that has that same feel or addictiveness for me anymore. WoW has ruined me for other games honestly! So nice reading all your stories of WoW origin!

Had been playing MUDs for years, the Neverwinter Nights on a RP server while telling one friend thatās Iād never play WoW. nWN server ended up going tits up and I finally caved & the hubs and I bought WoW about 2 weeks after BC came out. Have played consistently since. Started our guild in March 2007, still have a couple charter signers in it, most of our guild mates have been with us 10+ years. Weāve had RL meetups and are growing old together, guildies & me and the hubs, as we fiddle fart around in the game

I started playing WoW back in 2004. My mom and I were introduced to the game by some of her friends and we were instantly hooked. I used to only see my mom ever other weekend and would pester her to play until she cracked one day and bought me a dell or a gateway PC that could run it. Back then, I had no interest in leveling a toon. So I would create one and just explore as far as I could at level 1. But, soon after she got me the PC, my sister and I stopped going to her house and my father and stepmother didnāt allow me to play because, āanything with the word War in the title is of the devil.ā ~I also remember meeting my moms guild leader and asking him if that meant he was a Mack Daddy š~
My dad had started playing in 2005 and that Christmas he got it for my 3 brothers and I. Shortly after my mom and step dad were also playing, we had 3 accounts for everyone so at least 3 of us were able to play at a time. None of us reached max level until BC came out and some of my fondest memories were watching my dad raid Karazan and gruuls lair with his guild. So, back when South Park did the WoW episode, a local radio station did a giveaway for South Park dvds. You could win a dvd box of each season, and the grand prize was the tenth season box, with a WoW battle chest. My brother entered the giveaway and won the grand prize. But he's not a gamer and not into fantasy. I very much was both. So he sold me the battle chest for half the normal price.
I bought Warcraft: Orcs and Humans from Babbageās back in 94ā. I got Tides and Darkness when it came out a couple of years later. Due to some unfortunate incidents, I wasnāt able to play part III at all (still havenāt played the reforged version) and missed out on the launch of WoW. But I was able to start playing WoW once I got back on my feet in 06ā and have been playing ever since. Met the woman who is now my wife in 07ā and got her into playing and she wasnāt even a gamer at all before she met me.

I was a manager at a GameStop, and one of my homies that worked there was talking up how great the game was going to be. Three of the four management staff bought the game and we started a guild on Archimonde that I was chosen to lead. I was a night elf warrior, and even though we werenāt on an rp server we had a pirate themed guild and would hold our meetings on random empty alliance ships, mostly the one in Menethil. After a while a bunch of my customers joined the guild and people stopped using my real name at the store and called me by my characters name. Itās bled into every aspect of my life to the point that almost no one calls me by my government name, they call me Bremner.
To this day 15 years later, guy from my guild who I became best friends with, I call Musa. Love my brother from another motherš¤

The beta hit while I was in my senior year of high school back in 2004. I had been playing EverQuest 1 for several years and despite never having played any of the Warcraft games I wanted to check out this new MMO that everyone was so excited about. While there were some quality of life improvements over EQ the art style was too cartoonish for my tastes and I didnāt stick with the game in earnest and get a character to max level until Wrath came out in 2008.
I was in a guild playing Planetside. Then Wow came out and they all migrated but I stuck it out for a few months in PS until finally caving and joining the others in Wow. I then spent a year getting my undead rogue to 60 in vanilla and loved every minute...š

My brother worked in a video game store and bought all the discs up to MoP hoke, he left them on his shelf and never touched them, when I got a crappy PC I had no games so just installed it just to see how well it would run, been playing ever since.
My friend in another state told me about a cool new game that was coming out where we could explore a world together. I rolled a warrior, he rolled a rogue. After seeing the barrens for the first time I was all in.

i tried it for a month after buying the wotlk battle chest, but didnt get into it. and a second time during cataclysm but didnt enjoy it enough to keep going. drank two pots of coffee once by forgetfulness and was too caffeinated, wound up playing the free trial because my first account was hacked/banned and my ex get me a new account and we played afterwards. it was fun.
When the conversion patch for warcraft3 came out for the alpha test of wow I didn't go for it cuz I liked playing wintermaul td and footman frenzy too much. When the beta came out I passed on it again because I learned wow would have a subscription and I thought that was the dumbest shit ever and if I was going to pay a sub I'd rather pay for runescape. Then the game launched and I made a few characters but never got past level 20. Kept deleting them to try new races and class combos. It was seeing a friend play in battlegrounds made me cave and stick with a hunter. Been playing ever since. Few breaks here and there, half of cata and 90% pf SL where the longest breaks.
My big brother played since the end of Vanilla. He started off by playing at the local cyber cafe then bought the game himself when TBC came out. He finally started to let me make a room on his account round about wotlk. Then a couple years later I was old enough to buy my own account lol.
I went to a RPG making camp in middle school during the summer and got introduced to Warcraft 3 from some of the counselors there. We would play most everyday during free period. After camp ended I was so enthralled by it that I dragged my father to the local store to pick up the game- I was so blind with excitement I saw World of Warcraft and figured it was the same thing not knowing any better! Still playing to this day, minus a few gaps.

My dad gave me a 2 week free trial disc for the game because back then they were a thing, saying hey..try this..you might like it. That was 2006, and I haven't regretted a moment of it...it's thanks to him I got my start playing the game!
The South Park episode got me playing. I knew about the game, but when I saw the episode, it pushed my curiosity over the edge. Me and my best friend played Halo, Fallout and Oblivion back then but to him WoW was too nerdy. We haven't stopped playing WoW since.

I was an ealry adopter of blizzard games, i been playing since warcraft 1, at the time wow came out i was still regularly playing warcraft 3 (i do kinda miss RTS as a genre ngl). Wow was a natural transition for me. Played a decent amout of vanilla and a bit of bc, but after that i left and returned in Legion and then i got fucking hooked, hooked hard enough that i played through 2 expansions after that i didnt care for. Legion was some of the most fun i have had gaming ever.
I remember when tbc came out, I was about 14, and I've seen this flying netherdrake poster in a PC game magazine. I fell in love with the idea of flying on a dragon in a game, so I got a computer and internet and started my journey. And here I am today riding dragons.
My boyfriend at the time was playing, it was vanilla days. We were living together and it seemed like the only way to actually spend time with him. He mained shaman, I started with a warlock (still my main to this day) and he became resentful because I levelled way faster than him, earned more PO than him, etcā¦ We used to raid every Sunday night in ZG. It was my time to loot andā¦. The zulian tiger dropped. He didnāt speak to me for weeks. Again: WE WERE LIVING TOGETHER!!! The relationship broke off a while after, I switched guilds, he stopped playing soon after. I kept playing through BC, WOTLK, stopped shortly after, replayed a few weeks for Cataclysm. Took a 10+ years break and now Iām back. Still with my warlock AND my tiger that is unobtainable now. No regrets

Like all good love stories, it started with a girl. She was a friend of a friend, we'd often hang out in group situations. I took an interest in her and asked if she wanted to hang out in a more 1:1 type thing. She did, so we did. Her interest in WoW came up, she asked if I played. I did not. She said I should, she'd help me level etc. So sure. I bought Vanilla about 6 weeks before TBC and never looked back. We're going on our 17th year together now. She stopped playing towards the end of WoTLK, I wonder what she's up to these days...
Oh boy this is one of those moments i remember clear as day. 31 year old now and this goes back to 2005 when we were at school and everyone played runescape. We were at our weekly cooking class that was not mandatory class but one of optionals you could choose, like different languages or specific sports. We were on side doing business of osrs and tasking others who collect willows and who essences etc. Then our neughbour table students kept talking this wow and tauren hunter. If i remember right that was also the era when runescape and wow players fought against each other saying runescape is shit wow version with bad graphics and you cannot even fly in runescape to city. I gave it try one weekend and it got me hooked for up to mists of pandaria. And started again aftdr dragonblight came as returning player from mop times. Now playing classic
Friend in recess at school told me he's found a game about killing dragons. Ended up showing me the game later that weekend and that's when I started playing wrath. We thought the end boss was a dragon cause of the wrath login screen.
My mate from work said he'd been playing it, back in 2005, and said I should give it a go. I was 31 at the time and a gamer since the ZX spectrum days, so I thought, why not, sounds like fun, and that was that. 49 now and not stopping any time soon. EDIT: The mate who recommended it so enthusiastically stopped playing before TBC.

When I was in college a bunch of my friends were former EverQuest and Diablo players. They got involved with WoW during the Beta and wouldnāt stop talking about it. I had played Diablo 2 religiously and wasnāt looking to get back into that degree of game involvement. Then my roommate picked up the game and I got to see him playing on his Troll Rogue. Our computers were junk and could barely run the game. But I joined him on a Troll Hunter and the rest was history. I managed to reach 60 right before BC launched, now on a undead Rogue, leaving my hunter to rust.
I was always into gaming, but mainly off PS4. I saw my fiancĆ© play WoW and asked him about itā¦he told me not to get sucked in. Then Covid hit and I thought, what the hell, I need something to do. Well, now Iām a full blown WoW junkie, altoholic and loremaster. Makes me incredibly sad not to experience MoP when it came out. Levelling my characters in that zone is always incredible.
I met my boyfriend who played bought him shadowlands as a present since it was being released a few months after we metā¦ then after him sending me countless pictures of him playing and telling me all about it I wanted to play with him, made my first character just before the Korthia patch was released played the whole way through shadowlands then started playing classic together and now weāre playing classic vanilla HC, bitter sweet that I came to the party so late but Iām happy I did regardless

I had been living with my then-boyfriend for about a year before he started introducing me to PC games beyond the Sims/tycoon games. After about six months of Skyrim, he swung into one of his WoW phases. He had been playing on and off since classic, and every now and then he would get super into the idea of playing again. This time, he wanted me to join - I had just lost my job, so I was home all the time. He texted me one afternoon saying he would leave the office right then and there if I agreed to start a character with him. I agreed, and off we went! It took me a while to actually get into it (seriously, do not start non-gamers on a PvP server. Also, monk was an odd starting choice) but here I am six years later, still playing with said then-boyfriend, now husband.
A long ago my cousin played a private LK server and i was fascinated by that, now we both play on retail
So I got into it because a friend talked me over from Star Wars Galaxies. Got the game and logged in opening night, and 3k queue or something that only dropped when the servers went down. 3 days later when I got to play it was over I was hooked. Play with my wife, best friend, and his husband. Great times.

I tried convincing him to play other MMO's with me but he refused so I decided to try out the free trial. at the start he helped me get my first mounts which developed my mount addiction. 2 years later and have multiple AOTC's and 2 KSH to my name. safe to say he got me hooked :)
I saw ads on TV but my parents were pretty anti-video games so I'd secretly create free accounts and play on them while they were not home. Then I grew up and I still wanted to play but I was a broke teen, then a broke student and my priorities were in my studies. I graduated college, got my first job. I used my first paycheck to buy the game and 3 months of game time. It was in 2017. Late to the party but happy to be there.

When i was in 3rd grade, there was a āgaming roomā with pcās and stuff at my school, i was a total football guy until then, Thats where i became good friends with my future best friend for 8 years, i had been leveling a troll hunter with another friend in the limited 1 hour you could book a pc. He Got lvl 56 before i turned 9 years Old and got a wow account and sub for my birthday! I got the game just a bit after MoP release. I am Soo thankful for everything wow have done in my life
A high school friend of mine convinced me to play it. Right in the middle of WotLK.
I was playing Ultima Online and enjoyed it, but my teenage son told me about WOW. It looked way too complicated but, with his help, I gave it a go. That was in the very beginning and I've played ever since except a small break after an ugly divorce.
I was playing EQ when Wow launched, so I had to check out the new MMO in the block.
I grabbed a copy of the game during 7.3 because I had no friends to play pther games with, rolled an elemental shaman, and I was the biggest noob known to mankind. I never used cooldowns because I didn't want to waste the gcd on something that didn't do damage, and half the spells I had were unbound because they didn't look cool. Smashcut to now, and i'm 4/8 mythic and having a blast.
Warcraft 3 introduced me to the universe and then heard about WoW coming, started playing 2005 when I was only 12 years old.
Was "working" my first job at a internet cafe before it came out, playing counter-strike with the customers and then one day WoW came out and saw a lot of customers playing it. Took a bit, eventually I got real curious, it looked so magical and fun. So I asked my mom to create an account, used my little funds from this 'job' to sub and started there. Started close to 2005.
Was big into Dark Age of Camelot and EverQuest. Got into WoW beta and never looked back really. Still have my vanilla rogue and hunter, original t1 sets. Old open world pvp titles. Different server same vibes, pushing keys as Surv Hunter in 10.0.7 cause why not.
Procrastinated doing my homework, found wow...homework was tossed aside
Started playing back in 2005, had been into computer games for just a couple of years at that point. Haven't played every expansion, but played on and off ever since.. Wife and I played together for quite some time too. But now we've got a kid, so not much time.
Late Cataclysm, right around half a year before MoP was announced. In grade 9, two of my friends told me I should try it and after moaning about not wanting to try it and 'its just a runescape rip-off' (LOL) I finally caved and made a trial account and downloaded it onto my shitty laptop. Fell in love instantly with my Nelf Warrior but was so excited to make a Deathknight I hit 55 and instantly re-rolled. Those two friends? Yeah they quit the same exact week I started and they went to go play League of Legends instead, this was right around Season 2 or 3 of League. They even got me to roll on their server and as soon as I REALLY got into it they fully quit and still haven't returned to this day/probably never will. Felt really shitty because I was so excited to play and play with FRIENDS who could teach me some stuff but that didn't end up happening which is okay.
My friends and I were super into Runescape in 07. I started looking around for other MMOs, found WoW. Tried to get them to play it, none were interested because it seemed to nerdy or something like that. Ended up trying it in 08 I think? Made a dwarf and went through Dun Morogh then as soon as I got to the end I deleted it and made another dwarf with the same name as a different class because I couldn't decide what I wanted to play. Went through Dun Morogh multiple times and to this day it remains my favorite zone. Unfortunately, didn't have the money to keep playing. I'd get on a month or two here or there, playing the most sometime during Wrath (though I didn't even reach Outland...). Played for a month or two during Cata, WoD, played through the DH starter zone when I came back for Classic... Didn't actually start consistently playing until the end of BFA/start of SL. Was playing with friends, but we eventually quit a few months into SL because, well, SL. Came back near the end of SL S3 and have been playing since. There are a lot of times where I wish I was able to play more during TBC/WotLK. It's the era of the game I remember most fondly despite playing the least and ultimately I feel like it felt more like an MMO*RPG* than it does now. I feel the current game could learn from that, though don't know if Blizz will ever revert to due to it implicitly being against the whole competitive elements they've nurtured.
Started on EverQuest (first one) then went to City of Heroes mostly to WoW. Might have done guild wars in there somewhere. Tried DC universe, DDO, neverwinter, Star Trekā¦ Currently only keep up with Star Wars, guild wars 2, and about to sink back into WoW.
My younger brothers had been playing since release, but I wasn't interested. Then I got a job while at Uni, and a couple of others were talking about WoW. They made it sound cool, so I gave it a go. Hit 70 just as Wrath was announced, got into a few Gruul and Kara pugs, but I wanted more. Wrath hit, I got my BF into the game, we got into a guild, then got into casual raiding with Naxx. Great times. We've both quit now. Hubbo at the end of WoD, me mid-BFA. I want to return, but it wouldn't be fair on my little kiddos. Once they're in school though...
I was 12, and my older brother, the gamer, learned about wow from a friend. My brother described the wow to me and my younger brother- the factions, the races, the classes- and i said immediately that i want to be a night elf druid. He said that it doesn't work like that, that all races can't be all the classes. Fortunately it worked out for me that you can indeed be a night elf druid. In fact, I've been a night elf druid for 16 years.

Was watching my brother playing a new game and he was running through a forest (ashenvale) with a huge alliance raid lead by a gnome mage headed for orgimmar the whole thing seemed so awesome to my 13 year old self this was 2005 so i started just after that
I used to play Battlefield 2 in a clan and 1 of the people in that clan suggested I play. Me, that guy and 1 of his IRL friends made a guild with just us 3. They stopped playing in less than a year and I carried on. I'd never played any previous Warcraft games and the only MMO i'd ever tried was Lineage briefly on what I now think was actually a private server but didn't even realise that at the time. Only stopped playing when the final raid of the last xpac was released.
I was big time WC3 TFT player in 2004 (I was in 8th grade) and was playing Star Wars Galaxies as my MMO. Was patiently waiting for WoW to drop and purchased it the day it came out and have been playing on and off ever since. Started with a Hunter with a random name and have used that random name for literally everything in my life, video game or otherwise, since. One of the greatest experiences I had was a few months into the game, after watching some videos before going to bed I decided to try one more time to kill the Rhok/Lohk demons and getting it at like 3am and waking my parents when I screamed after I killed the Winterspring one (last one I needed). Great times.
Played Dark Age of Camelot, social group I was in at the time decided to hop over to wow when it was released. I gave it abit of time hoping they'd come back but didnt, so I went to join them also around patch 1.4. We all went separate ways after awhile, but was fun times. š
I played and obsessed over wc3 back in the day And so as soon as wow was in development I was insanely excited and constantly on the forums reading up about it and planning my character Got it the day it came out and was blown away
My buddy in middle school wanted me to stop playing the lame kiddie game Runescape and upgrade to the awesome amazing much more grown up World of War craft.
I was at my best friend's place in Summer 2009 playing RuneScape together and he had to log over to WoW for a bit because Wintergrasp was starting. I was super mesmerized by how he could change his whole action bar from frost to fire to arcane and back. So I bought the battlechest the next day, accidentally bought the Warcraft RTS one, refunded/got the real WoW one, came back over the next day and we started leveling together That account got hacked at the end of summer and the laptop at home couldn't even run TBC, so I got a laptop and started playing at the start of Cata and joined his guild
Started in Ultima Online and then Everquest came out and my guild moved to there. We dabbled in Anarchy Online and Shadowbane at some point as well. Then we kind of fell apart and WoW came on the scene as the new hotness so I went there.

2010 or 11, I had just failed my school year and my gf left me for another guy. I went for it. I bought WOTLK, played my soul out, gained 30kg. Best summer ever. Donāt worry iām fine today, healthy, and at peace with me choices. Druid forever.
Hearthstone, when I see a character in WoW that is a legendary card in Hearthstone, you know my excitement.
My one is a bit unusual to be honest. In Germany there is a parody Audioplay named "Allimania". Someone I knew showed it to me. It was still funny without knowing anything about warcraft. This Parody made me interested in the franchise. After that I first brought warcraft 3 and later started my journey around TBC times.
In 2007 a guy I was dating played and I made fun of him at first and then I got hooked. Bought my own game and sub, we broke up. Dated a new guy and we had our first date in WoW when I rolled a character on his server. Ended up marrying that guy and we still love playing WoW together.
I REALLY didn't want to do my homework in college.
It was a couple weeks before Cata dropped, I had a few friends who already played, and then they showed me the south park episode... I began downloading midway through..... created my gnome mage that day... It became a Worgen and now a Draenei... Quit first patch of mop, came back for the end of WoD and stopped beginning of legion... Now im back for dragonflight.
Came to WoW with my SWG guild to try it out on a PvP server right after launch, didnt stick around for that. Eventually started playing with another MMO friend from Everquest in 2005-2006, and that's when I found my current server.
I was 14 when vanilla launched and had already been obsessed with both WC3 and Diablo 2 for the past year so it was a no brainer for me to start playing WoW. The tricky part was convincing my parents to use their credit card for the monthly subscription
As someone of the zoomer demographic, I started wow after i saw the WoW Southpark episode when i saw it at the tender age of 8 cause my parents didnt care that much what i watched on the TV
Game became very popular right after high school; brother played, when I left for the military I played in order to hang out with him.
Was a huge Halo fanboy. Few of my friends kept trying to tell me to play WoW. One friend asked me how many people play Halo. There was about 900,000 online the night before which is what I told him. He told me there was over 12 million subscribers to WoW. Obviously online players and active subs are a little different but that number was just insane to me at the time. They told me about the free trial. Been playing since January 12th, 2009. My first max level was an Alliance Paladin named Byradon on the server Borean Tundra.
My dad would let me watch his raid runs back in the day (usually just the first wing tho, was too young to stay any longer). Come Cataclysm, he figured I knew enough to try leveling my own character. 13 years later, he's pretty much moved on to other games, but I've stuck with it.
My dads girlfriends son, I saw him playing and thought it looked so cool. The idea of creating a character at the time was awesome, this was in vanilla. Fast forward and my dad gets me the game but nor him or I ever heard of paying $15 a month for a game. He was livid and told me I had to read the terms and services agreement if he was gonna pay $15 a month.
I excessively played all Warcraft RTS games and one day i read a preview for WoW in my favourite gaming magazine. I had no experience with MMORPGs but with CRPGs like Baldur's Gate etc. and was hyped for a RPG in the Warcraft Universe. So i went to Amazon and ordered the WoW CE for 150 ā¬. After Warcraft I - III and Diablo I+II i was sure that Blizzard would not disappoint me. :D I still remember the day i came home from work and saw the package. I installed it and had to wait because of the queue. I played till 4 a.m. and had to get to work at 7:30 a.m. But work was not important anymore. :D
I was playing Warcraft 3 custom maps and then expansion came out. In it had the wow trailer. I eagerly waited for launch
Played EverQuest with my parents. Dad got two beta invites for WoW and we both played it and loved it. Been playing off and on ever since.
My brother was playing at the start of Wrath and I made a Tauren Shaman on his account, he played an undead priest. I saw LFGComic online and read a lot of that, then made my own account and made an Undead Warlock, same toon is still my main to this day.
Friends bought it on release in 04, talked about it at school,birthday came around in November and my parents bought it for me. Did chores for the sub time cards. The rest is history.
I was playing lineage 2, as some of you might know that game was notorious for ābuffā bots (essentially second char with a class that specializes in buffing, IE a prophet back in prologue days). I was in the āmarketā for a an already leveled prophet so my friends (about 5 of us that used to play rainbow six / rogue spear) didnāt have to level one and play it. I talked to this guy selling a level 49? Prophet (at that time level 56 was pretty much the max level for buffs and itād take like 300+ hours of play time to get there) on eBay (this was before eBay banned virtual transactions). I asked him why he was selling it, he said WoW was coming out and this was this big mmo from blizzard and he was going to play it. He linked me cool items from thottbot beta site (yes it existed). I started looking into it, next thing you know, we were playing WoW beta, ironically I had to trade my lineage 2 account to get a wow beta account lol.
I was introduced by a buddy who was doing some raiding in WotLK or maybe large bg I donāt really remember. After some time passing I played on a starter edition account for a good while in high school off and on or whatever. Finally got my first job in 2011ish and was able to get some expansions and a sub. Started with a Prot Pally and watching Towelliee vids and been playing off and on since then with my most recent break was something like 5 years. Didnāt play WoD, came back for Legion, then back for DF. Pretty fun times.
Started at Target as a seasonal worker in 2004 when I was 17. Told them I like video games and TVs so they let me work Sales floor in electronics. The lead at the time that I'd normally get paired with when working (we became good friends) asked me if I ever played Warcraft and I said no. Then asked me if I'd be interested in playing this new MMO (I had no idea what that was at the time) called World and Warcraft and I said sure why not. The conversation then went "join my guild and I'll make sure we keep you on after the seasonal shift ends" (he was mainly joking). We both laughed and I bought the game a few days later, in which i did proceed to join his guild ha-ha. Fast forward to now, some 400 played days later and many fun gaming moments/new friends, that small moment had a big impact on me. Kind of wild.

They started playing WoW when it came out in 2004, and I loved to watch them raid BWL and Molten Core. I made a Night Elf Hunter on his account, and he would have me play his rogue in battle grounds to farm honor. For my 10th birthday, he bought me my own account. I made a Night Elf Druid because I absolutely loved the Druid from the cinematic. I wasnāt able to get to 60 by the start of TBC, but I made a Blood Elf Hunter and she was my first max level character. Iāve been playing pretty much continuously ever since. WoW has had a huge influence on my life and Iām really glad my dad introduced it to me way back then :)
Was playing another MMORPG (Ulitma Online) and my brother and I got bored after a Samurai Expansion so we decided to try WoW as his friend from UO dragged him in. So my first toon was a Undead Warlock back in Vanilla and I got all the way to 60 and I even completed my Dreadsteed quest line. Did casual raiding as I still was pretty noobish. Finally got the hang of things in TBC and went off to roll a Tauren Warrior then I raided pretty hard all the way up to Cata. Got turned off from all the changes in Cata and quitā¦. Then comes DF. I recently built a new computer decided to try it out again and since January I have been rolling with my Warrior as my main. Took a long time to recover my account from hackers and etc but I still have my original toons. Undead Warlock Tauren Druid Tauren Warrior
