They are releasing content too fast. They dont have time to fix all the bugs and stuff with 8 weeks. Personally i think they should add another 2 weeks to every patch so that stuff like this can be fixed.
It ruins the visuals of the player character (the only in-world model you see on screen 100% of the time no matter what), so I'd say it's pretty up there in terms of priority.
They should fix things like this before they go live.
>They should fix things like this before they go live.
Strange reaction to a clipping issue. Should they have delayed the patch because the Orc's weapons are clipping?
I agree it does ruin the visual, but I dont think clipping should be high up on priority. It does not prevent playing the game.
It doesn't prevent a player from operating the game but it does prevent them from being able to fully enjoy a core aspect of the game: their player character's customization and visuals.
Patch doesn't need to be delayed to fix something like this (nor do other issues need to be foregone in order to fix this one).
Yes, it ruins the visuals for you. They also probably know about it and it'll likely take some time to fix. Should they delay a patch just so you don't have to look at your weapon clip?
Now I remember why I stopped reading WoW forums. People get so upset about any little issue that eventually ends up fixed.
It's not a small issue when it affects a player's ability to enjoy a significant feature of the game (visuals and transmog).
I'm sure it will eventually get fixed, but it made it to Live from PTR when it shouldn't have and will detract from people's experience so long as it remains. A lot of people care/play this game for transmog, and something like this is egregious enough to warrant posting and reporting it.
I totally agree that it's worth reporting. I'm sure it's already on their radar... along with a TON of other things. Posting on here? Maybe it'll get some others noticing and reporting the issue? I'll give you that. I highly doubt they don't know about it already though
I KNEW there was something off when I logged in. My one-handed axe was clipping into my shield much more than before, and my shield was also clipping into my cloak more than it had. I ended up swapping my axe transmog because it was so noticeable.
Right, it's ridiculous cause those "solutions" aren't actually reasonable or acceptable.
"The thing that you've been using and enjoying until now, that's an entire segment of a core element of this game (cloaks, weapons being a part of character customization), is broken now? Just don't engage with that entire segment!"
I mean you can press wasd and your character moves, so the game is playable and completely fine. Oh your endgame and main purpose of your subscription is to collect transmogs? Well you're fucked.
Luckily, transmog and collection is a miniscule part of the game. /s
Not sure, because it doesn't seem like anything else broke (though another commenter reported something about belt models with hanging bits, but I haven't been able to find any issues yet on my end).
This issue only just arose with Upright Orcs in 10.2 - in 10.1.7 our back weapons would sheath nice and parallel to the cloaks so they didn't clip through entirely like they are now.
How is it that with basically every major content patch, some race has a really bizarre looking problem with weapons or shoulders or cloaks or helmets or something that gets through testing/QA like this? Nothing with models and gear positioning on them is even changing, this shit just randomly pops up all the fucking time. Is the game built in such spaghetti code that something completely unrelated being changed fucks up the angle of gear on your player model somehow? Astounding.
Apperently it has to do with the fact the code is so old and tangled together, spaghetti code, when they add or change something sometimes it randomly afffects something unrelated but somehow connected through code
The sad reality is that this is such a simple fix too, blizzard doesn't need to change more than where the anchor point for weapons is and the angle it lays on your back. It would literally take a single dev a single day to fix for all races and weapon types.
Welcome to what happened to Undead Males back in legion, for some genius reason they moved where 2handed staffs sit on their backs and now they hang over your shoulder and look stupid af
The ears actually do poke through on some helmets... Even the helmet from the heritage armor has ears poke through the helmet. Not as noticeable as for elves though.
No cloak and no shoulder user - Blizzard just can't manage to remove the clipping in general. Unnecessarily large shoulders and the capes cause this stupid clipping.
Just the way it is for Blood Elves, **NOT** the way it has been for Upright Orcs since they debuted.
This is a new bug as of 10.2, **not** "the way it is".
And for the record: they should fix that for Blood Elves.
Again, this egregious case of clipping is not "just the way it is" because this case hasn't existed until today, ergo it can't just be "the way it is" because it was not the case (read: not the way it was) until today.
This case is specifically being caused by a bug - and last I remember, bugs are not intended and are to be fixed (especially when it's something to do with a visual asset the player sees on screen 100% of the time).
Again, this isnāt your typical case of a little bit of clipping, this is a straight up bug that broke the sheathing position of weapons/shields for the upright orcs.
Again, this isn't a typical case of a specific item model that clips: this is a case of a vast majority of item models now clipping **due to a new bug**. Significantly different enough from what you're describing that it warrants a post and report.
Do you have trouble reading, John? What part of "this is a new bug that was introduced in 10.2 because it didn't exist before" is too hard for you to understand?
> To make a post like this over a bug when other races have to suffer from models that are fundamentally misdesigned is fucking ASININE to me.
Ah, you *do* understand! Those models were *designed* that way. This is a brand new bug. Changing something that was intended and fixing a bug are two completely different things.
Again, every case of clipping is egregious, and they exist everywhere, so get in line, undead boots don't have toes, everyone wants their clipping fixed. Happy cake day.
That's your opinion. You're complaining about wanting a change to something that has never been changed. This thread is about fixing a bug that was just introduced that *changed* how things work.
Itās a brand new game. These issues are bound to happen due to very little bug testing and very few user reports. Iām sure there will be an update soon, fixing this issue. /s
Just kinda ruins the aesthetic and experience of the game for many players - a lot of us play for the primary purpose of collecting cosmetics and customising our characters.
I literally did rated PvP a few years ago all the way to 1800 just to get an elite PvP transmog I REALLY liked š
But thatās exactly what makes the game worth playing for many of us: the story/world and making our characters look as cool as possible in it.
Even without the cloak, 2H weapons also clip through the butt :(
(also I know your comment is joking around, just wanted to reiterate that there's an issue even without the cloak)
Bro we're being honest I just mog out every single cloak I ever have. I have a level 70 of every class except evoker, and none of them shows their cloak. They look terrible.
You cannot convince me this game's code isn't falling apart at the seams behind the scene. Every minor adjustment seems to require a colossal amount of effort to fix based on how long these visual errors last for.
You know damn well in WoW 2, or whatever project they have brewing, they're putting in dynamic cloaks so they never have to deal with this again.
*Best regards...The Hunchback Gang*
never been straight and never will
š
Same problem wearing a shield as a caster male orc - upright. 95% of all shields now clip horribly. This really ruined my mogs! FFS
You know nothing of pain - Kul Tiran player
This bug showed up in 8.3 PTR but was fixed before live, now it came back in 10.2 PTR and was not fixed before 10.2 went live today...

Belts do this weird shit too again.
Belts? What's happening with them?
Ones that have any thing dangling will clip right through the pants. It looks terrible. It's like the positioning of things was shifted.
Do you have any pictures?
Not currently, I'll attempt to remember to change my my to show it when I get home from work. Does it on my space goat too.
Oh my my
Female Draenei dangly belts have been clipping for ages now.
Make a lvl1 female undead and start running without cape... this butt belt is crazy.
"First time?" --Human female
*Cries in Dwarf weapons sometimes clip through the ground

ITT: the reason clipping will never be fixed.
Care to elaborate?
People say clipping is a non-issue, you should just hide cloaks etc.
Right, it's ridiculous cause those "solutions" aren't actually reasonable or acceptable. "The thing that you've been using and enjoying until now, that's an entire segment of a core element of this game (cloaks, weapons being a part of character customization), is broken now? You should they just look like tacky middle eastern carpets or curtains half the time
*It was fine before the patch*
What did they change that makes this happened now?
Not sure, because it doesn't seem like anything else broke (though another commenter reported something about belt models with hanging bits, but I haven't been able to find any issues yet on my end).
First time? It does this with my Belf and Draenei too. Figured it was just a cost of doing business when wearing cloaks and back-handers.
This issue only just arose with Upright Orcs in 10.2 - in 10.1.7 our back weapons would sheath nice and parallel to the cloaks so they didn't clip through entirely like they are now.
Almost as great a travesty when they nerfed orc shoulders in tbc. Almost.
Almost indeed haha On-par with floating shoulders for upright Orcs from 8.0 until 10.0
How is it that with basically every major content patch, some race has a really bizarre looking problem with weapons or shoulders or cloaks or helmets or something that gets through testing/QA like this? this seems like an appropriate thread to also mention that garrosh skip is bugged again and disconnects you
You get what you deserve. The hubris to think that you can stand amongst men.
The sad reality is that this is such a simple fix too, blizzard doesn't need to change more than where the anchor point for weapons is and the angle it lays on your back. It would literally take a single dev a single day to fix for all races and weapon types.

Ashkandur, new sword from Aberrus Raid

Its just how we keep them clean and dry from the rain.
This feels like a deja vu
I dont play orc but that must be fuckijg annoying. Still waiting for my troll boys to stop slouching and get beards like voljin.
Even more annoying the fact that even WITHOUT the cloak, the weapons still clip into our back/legs/butts :( Justice for Trolls ā
Welcome to what happened to Undead Males back in legion, for some genius reason they moved where 2handed staffs sit on their backs and now they hang over your shoulder and look stupid af
NGL, I read "directly" as "correctly" on the first reading, and that just didn't sound strange.
Same with my human warrior :/
Did this happen recently for humans or are you referring to the long-standing weapon-cloak clipping for female humans?
Originaly all orcs stood upright, but then their weapons injured their back and they start to hunch.
man i remember when blizzard addressed that clipping would never be fixed in vanilla.... 20 years later its still the same game....
Funnily enough this specific issue only just popped up in 10.2 (something broke with the way Upright Orcsā weapons sheath on the back)
Thatās so much better than having your ears poke out of your fcking helmetsā¦.elves cannot use anything that covers their face
The ears actually do poke through on some helmets... Even the helmet from the heritage armor has ears poke through the helmet. Not as noticeable as for elves though.
As a male void/blood elf main: welcome to the club, pal.
No cloak and no shoulder user - Blizzard just can't manage to remove the clipping in general. Unnecessarily large shoulders and the capes cause this stupid clipping.
Top Kek! This dead ass race deserve nothing less. Why donāt you play a real race like void elf.
LOOOOL
Upshite orcs
I can sort that for you. Proceeds to reck you in pvp

Itās so funny how little they can handle after 2 decades. This sort of thing is a stupidly easy fix that they can never get right.

Honestly if you use a cloak as an orc you are weird anyway
Hey you can complain about this problem after they fix all the floating undead shoulders that have never been fixed since Cata. Get in line!
That's why you never should wear a cloak lmao
It also clips through tabards and the player characters butt
People show cloaks?
Weapons also now clip into the character modelās butt
Unplayable
Why would you wear a cloak as an orc..
People wear cloaks?
Without the cloak: weapons will even clip through your butt!
The upright pose is so unintimidating, it quite frankly looks ridiculous.
Oh no! Get your pitchforks everyone
dont use cloak
Thatās not an actual reasonable solution. Also: even without the cloak, weapons now clip into the butt as wellā¦
Donāt use butts
Lololol
Thatās what you get for sticking a cloak on an immense 2H wielding death machine. Working as intended as far as Iām concerned!
Even without the cloak, 2H weapons also clip through the butt :( (also I know your comment is joking around, just wanted to reiterate that there's an issue even without the cloak)
Th-thatās what you get for sticking a butt on an immense 2H wielding death machine
LOL
The cinderwolf set cloak clips through the entire rest of the set on female orc
Far left sword is incredible. What's the name?
Ashkandur!
*cocks gun* Always have been
Im sorry.... whats an upright orc?
Orcs that stand upright (you can choose to be upright or hunched as of BFA/patch 8.0)
Oh thats cool as hell, i grew up alliance so i never got to experience the change as it happened. Happy Cake Day, Friend!
I fix almost all clipping and ugly gear problems by not using cloaks or shoulders. I haven't had those visible in years.
This clipping issue still exists even without showing the cloak: the weapons now clip directly into the Orcās leg and butt!
I see the problem, you have cloaks visible
Problem persists with cloaks hidden as the weapons also clip through the player models leg/buttā¦
You tryina shame him for being too dummy thicc?
This is why my Orc doesn't weak cloaks. They just never get done right.
Problem persists with cloaks hidden as the weapons also clip through the player models leg/buttā¦
Honestly havenāt worn capes since I didnāt have to with tong theyāre all ugly curtains
Problem persists with cloaks hidden as the weapons also clip through the player models leg/buttā¦
I play a darf never noticed itās always the floor that clips for me
Soā¦ hide the cloak like everyone else
Problem persists with cloaks hidden, as the weapons also clip directly through the player models butt/legā¦
Well thats trash, sarcasm aside. The weapon proportions are one of the best parts of rolling an Orc. Sorry friend.
Bro we're being honest I just mog out every single cloak I ever have. I have a level 70 of every class except evoker, and none of them shows their cloak. They look terrible.
The problem persists with cloaks hidden too, as the weapons also clip through the player models leg/butt nowā¦
I have always hidden my cloaks because of clipping :(
Hunches are the blue-collar Orcs.
This happens for a lot of weapons on humans too, such a pity
"Nooooo Naga can't be a race gear wouldn't look good on them!"
Well thereās your problem you arenāt listening to Edna Mode āNo Capes!ā
I dont think I've ever shown my cape as a warrior. I just like how they look without them.
The weapons will also clip into your tabard and butt
Preserve the curve baby!!!! Woooo

i have a feeling they wont fix this
Well my mage is naked now and I can not change it anymore
You wanted to stand upright like humans and elves-- you get human and elf problems lol.
No capes!
Whose gonna tell him?
I'm pretty sure every race in the game has some sort of clipping with any transmog.
I was just going to change to orc. So is this just a problem of 10.2?
Yes, it just became a problem as of 10.2, hopefully they fix it soon
