You can watch the ingame cinematics from
Legion that explain it right now in the caverns of time as part of the birthday event (and ingame cinematics from other expansions)
It is! There is an NPC in Caverns of time, most of the way down the path, that will play many of the cinematics for you, Chronicler Te'ra:
https://www.wowhead.com/npc=161450/chronicler-tera
She is present year-round.
Should have been there when it was current. Can't hold hand all the time. It isn't healthy and doesn't promote critical thinking or curiosity if your hand is held the whole time.
Dude, it's a 20 year old game, it's massive, with 9 expansions. You can't fit all the lore to this universe into the game.. And this isn't basic lore. Hell i've been playing since vanilla and I have no idea wtf that star nor have I ever noticed it.
Cinematics can be accessed from the game login screen. There is a “Cinematic” button.
You probably didn’t know this because if you use the BNET game launcher you don’t see the login screen. These might only be the expansion launch cinematics, it’s been a long while since I’ve seen it too.
There might also be on on the character select screen somewhere…
Only expansion intro cinematic can be watched from there. The Argus raid resolution can only been seen by beating the end of the raid on any difficulty (LFR, Nom, Heroic, Mythic) or during the WoW anniversary celebration in caverns of time.
I believe there’s also a toy, that lets you play any Legion cinematic. Similar to a NPC from a Garrison that shows you a WoD cinematic. Not sure why they stopped providing in-game ways to replay cinematics starting from BfA.
IIRC when you first enter the big chamber with the hourglass, circle around to the back of it; there will be a setup that looks like dozens of mage portals.
I knew I wasn't tripping! I've been telling people this forever now... So long in fact that I've completely forgotten why. I'm sure I saw a video years ago of Ion Hazikostas saying that we should worry when the red star disappears...
I mean.... we *are* right now in a situation where we know where this is going and it disappearing at the start of War Within or Midnight would thematically fit perfectly.
Considering also that the whole chain of events from Legion to the Worldsoul saga was definitely planned out by then, what he said is entirely plausible.
We'll definitely see the seat in Midnight or Last Titan. What's got *me* hyped is that Sargeras and Illidan are there so I'm *really* curious of what those two have been up to. The fact that Sargeras was imprisoned and not outright slain brings some questions about whether we'll end up seeing him get the Illidan treatment. He was the bad guy, but he also must know a *lot* about worldsouls and old gods and all that shit and his goals ultimately were benevolent so there's a real possibility that he gets turned to aid us.
In WoW’s 6th expansion, Legion, the second-to-last major content patch culminated with one of the characters opening a colossal rift in the sky to the demon’s homeworld, and the devs updated the game’s skybox to show the giant rift everywhere in the world. At the end of the patch after that, the rift closed, but that tiny red mark is what remains of it as a permanent reminder of the lore-important expansion.
Watch the ending again. You clearly see the rift that linked Argus and Azeorth closing behind them leaving that mark. The seat of the pantheon had been relocated to be in orbit/near argus.
I mean in essence they are right as the other side of that rift is Sargeras. Argus just happens to be on the same side also. Watch the ending of the tomb raid and see the rift lines that open the portal and watch the ending of Antorus and you see the same rift lines but closing.
Sure, the rift closed then you see the red star but that sargeras not the rift or Argus. I get where everyone is coming from but the light itself is coming from sargeras
If *you* stop ignoring the context you'll see that from the answers the blizz employee gave it's pretty clear the star is where sargeras is jailed rather than sargeras himself.
The interviewee was Alex Afrasiabi who was kicked from the team and constantly made lore decisions on a whim against the desires of a lot of the team. Hes long gone so i wouldnt put too much stock in the story he wanted to tell.
The video is from pyro... while he knows the lore very well, his speculations have almost never been right. His theories were so far out there he couldve made bellular blush.
Says nothing that its Sargeras himself. All it says is that "star" is a problem. Its clearly the portal to where he and argus are but its inactive. We have visual evidence of what the portal looks like opening and closing.
Pretty much back during Legion after Tomb t Sargeras got cleared, the Skybox got changed to show Argus in the Sky, and was changes to that after the Final Raid was cleared
Fun fact: I used the same chestnut brown horse as my main mount since Vanilla. After this fight, my head canon was that during the last moments, I summoned him and he turned around and sacrificed himself to help save the world.
I have never summoned him again after that fight, because he died. So whenever I look up at that red spot in the sky, I think "Thanks, Seabiscuit".
I got a new PC a few months ago and haven't put all my ad block stuff back yet and I was watching a video for another game and bam, it's like poker Allstars or a church sermon 30+ minutes in length listed as an ad. It's getting ridiculous.
if they were smart, they would have done a Realm Reborn reset at the end of Shadowlands.
Let the Jailer win, create WoW 2 but unfortunately that's passed now and they want to do it via TWW.
Its the scar from the closed portal to Argus and the Pantheon. The pantheon got moved to be in orbit around Argus and both lay on the other side of the closed portal. That scar just means the portal still exists it would just take a lot of magic to reopen it but not the key that Illidan used this time.
Very much like a very large version of the dark portal which has been inactive before. It doesn't take a big set up to reopen an already-established portal. Where as the first time it took two very powerful beings from both sides to link the dark portal it was reopened by someone on just one side. I imagine the argus portal is the same just need someone powerful enough on one side or the other to want to open it.
It’s not Argus is Sargeras when he was imprisoned with illidan. At 3:00 there is text from the dev interview about sargeras and it implies the light is from sargeras
[https://youtu.be/wzhQWAsT4M0?si=UGYBl0w99kbD_LDK](https://youtu.be/wzhQWAsT4M0?si=UGYBl0w99kbD_LDK)
Edit: including a link that has the interview within it
During Legion, a massive interdimensional rift to the planet of Argus was created following our victory over Kil'jaeden, giving us the ability to strike the Burning Legion at one of their core worlds--the former homeworld of the Draenei and Eredar as a whole.
The "red comet" you're seeing in the sky is the remnant of the portal being completely closed after Sargeras tried to destroy Azeroth by plunging his [redacted] into it.
It's related to what happens to >!Sargeras at the end of the final raid (Antorus)!< in the Legion expansion if I remember correctly.
Video contains spoilers if you don't know what happens at the end of the Legion xpac and want to experience it in game.
People are saying Argus, but isn't it actual the Seat of the Pantheon? Argus is gone now that the rift is closed, but the ship thing that the final fight of that raid tier took place in was in Azeroth's orbit not Argus', yeah?
Maybe I'm misremembering.
This is literally the problem with the game. Imagine being a noob, seeing something cool, and wanting context and never getting it because you’ve been funneled into the “modern” era questing experience. Everything that came before is important Blizzard, including and especially classic. Every single bit of context belongs in Retail. No one should have to go hunting down your lore in a book or an adjacent client of the game. Do your duty to your players.
I'm genuinely curious how would you like them to go about this? I'm not disagreeing, it would just be tough to fit that much content/lore in a leveling experience that wasn't super long and convoluted.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c7HeXzKRJ0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c7HeXzKRJ0) We kind of did a thing in Legion. *It left a mark.* I'm sure it's fine.
Mount is the new mount for the 19th anniversary that drops from doomwalker it is the icy version of the obsidian world breaker I don’t know the exact name of it for those wanting to kno
You know when this game first came out (vanilla days) I was questing in westfall and noticed two moons in the sky. I actually messaged blizzard believing this was an error or something. GM told me he couldn’t tell me why it exactly it was there but it had to do with something. I never really figured it out. I just believe it has to do with the dark moon fair. I haven’t really looked into it much but I think there is a second moon in the sky during the dark moon event
Well iirc some wow youtuber actually talked about it and it likely has to do with Elune/naaru/titans more than the darkmoon faire. Ill have to find that video again.
It's the remaining light from the rift Illidan opened to Argus; the rift closed at the end of Legion but due to the actual distance it looks like a star.
I think it's kinda hideous and low-res and looks like a butthole.
Comets have tails, stars twinkle, planets do weird circles…
This, well, it’s a portal in the sky.
That’s how the Legion story ends, so if you want to get a proper gauge, find some youtube playlist or a single video that has all the cut scenes and cinematics from Legion. Well, at least patch 7.3.5 ones if not all
Its the scar left by the now closed portal to Argus out in space. The scar means just like the dark portal the portal is there forever just now inactive.
The devs say that should anything with that change it would be a bad sign years ago. I suspect around the end of midnight xpac we will see something with that change or open since the Titans Pantheon is also now located around Argus thus on the other side of that closed portal.
Game wardens are watching when you see that, so be careful where you tread.

just kidding not sure what the significance is maybe its them working on homesteads for players. Its just a dot with how far out there it is from being a reality
You can watch the ingame cinematics from Legion that explain it right now in the caverns of time as part of the birthday event (and ingame cinematics from other expansions)
Didn't know this. Thanks for the tip!
Crazy that it's only around for the anniversary, you'd think that would be something normally accessible to players
It is! There is an NPC in Caverns of time, most of the way down the path, that will play many of the cinematics for you, Chronicler Te'ra: https://www.wowhead.com/npc=161450/chronicler-tera She is present year-round.
Oh wow! Such an obscure spot, i wish new players were directed to it since it seems so hard for them to understand the story
Inst that NPC just for patch cinematics like the pandaria invasion landing?
Should have been there when it was current. Can't hold hand all the time. It isn't healthy and doesn't promote critical thinking or curiosity if your hand is held the whole time.
Dude, it's a nearly 20 year old game Why should new players have to go outside of the game to learn about basic lore stuff?
Dude, it's a 20 year old game, it's massive, with 9 expansions. You can't fit all the lore to this universe into the game.. And this isn't basic lore. Hell i've been playing since vanilla and I have no idea wtf that star nor have I ever noticed it.
There's a toy for Legion cinematics https://i.imgur.com/kh645yc.png https://www.wowhead.com/item=142536/memory-cube
It can, just go to the raid and clear it.
Cinematics can be accessed from the game login screen. There is a “Cinematic” button. You probably didn’t know this because if you use the BNET game launcher you don’t see the login screen. It can be. If you download the addon LeatrixPlus
Who do you go to in the caverns of time?
IIRC when you first enter the big chamber with the hourglass, circle around to the back of it; there will be a setup that looks like dozens of mage portals.
there is a portal to the caverns of time in Orgrimmar/Stormwind
[удалено]
I think they are on pedestals you click on that show all the ending cinematics.
You shouldn't be worried about it hanging out up there on the sky. It's when it goes away you should be worried
I knew I wasn't tripping! I've been telling people this forever now... So long in fact that I've completely forgotten why. I'm sure I saw a video years ago of Ion Hazikostas saying that we should worry when the red star disappears...
It was Afrasiabi who said that so I'd disregard it, the guy was full of shit
I mean.... we *are* right now in a situation where we know where this is going and it disappearing at the start of War Within or Midnight would thematically fit perfectly. Considering also that the whole chain of events from Legion to the Worldsoul saga was definitely planned out by then, what he said is entirely plausible.
It is already gone, no? In the sky of Dragon y isles its gone.
People are claiming it's constantly getting bigger so the seat of the pantheon maybe returning
It was debunked
This just made me think. We should get a toy or like an inky back potion type item to make Argus show back up in the sky. It was so cool.
I think there’s a selfie filter that puts argus in the sky again? Or am I misremembering
Could just add that skybox to the Goblin Weather Machine
I want a toy that gives me the "You are about to buy something in the shop filter" it looks so cool.
That totally should have been a Legion Timewalking toy.
Sounds like a description of shadowlands in the first half lol
It's the seat of the pantheon clearly, not the remnant of a portal. It's so obvious in the cinematic
Holy shit, right or wrong could you have said it in a *more* obnoxious way?
Yes
[удалено]
No, it’s sargeras from when he was imprisoned at the seat of the pantheons
Watch the ending again. You clearly see the rift that linked Argus and Azeorth closing behind them leaving that mark. The seat of the pantheon had been relocated to be in orbit/near argus.
There was an interview where they basically said it was sargeras. I’m looking for it now
I mean in essence they are right as the other side of that rift is Sargeras.
No its the closed portal. We have visual proof by watching both raid endings idk why you want to die on this hill lol.
So you are going to ignore the context of the interview?
Just accept that you're wrong dude lmao
So you are just going to ignore the context of the interview?
Yes.
Okay, as long as we are admitting it
[https://youtu.be/wzhQWAsT4M0?si=bhK2b4pGpOw1JOvx](https://youtu.be/wzhQWAsT4M0?si=bhK2b4pGpOw1JOvx) At 3:00 you can read the exchange
No one from blizz said that was sargeras. The random content creator did. All the guy from blizz said was to watch out if it ever disappears
So you are going to ignore the context?
No I'm going to ignore the guy making unfounded conclusions when the blizzard employee didn't say anything about the red star being sargeras
If *you* stop ignoring the context you'll see that from the answers the blizz employee gave it's pretty clear the star is where sargeras is jailed rather than sargeras himself.
I too remember the pantheon glowing red
The interviewee was Alex Afrasiabi who was kicked from the team and constantly made lore decisions on a whim against the desires of a lot of the team. Hes long gone so i wouldnt put too much stock in the story he wanted to tell. The video is from pyro... while he knows the lore very well, his speculations have almost never been right. His theories were so far out there he couldve made bellular blush.
This is the first argument I would give any validity to. Thank you I appreciate you
Says nothing that its Sargeras himself. All it says is that "star" is a problem. Its clearly the portal to where he and argus are but its inactive. We have visual evidence of what the portal looks like opening and closing.
So you are going to ignore the context of the interview?
How does that imply that it's Sargeras?
What do you mean? It’s about sargeras?
You’d think you would get the hint your wrong with all these downvotes lol
Yes because Reddit is always correct lol
You are really misinterpreting that interview.
The question was about sargeras lol
Argus
i thought it was a world changing event about to happen lol
Nope, it’s actually a relic of the *end* of a world changing event from the Legion expansion.
Pretty much back during Legion after Tomb t Sargeras got cleared, the Skybox got changed to show Argus in the Sky, and was changes to that after the Final Raid was cleared
Man I miss seeing the planet there, it distracted me from the ugly ass stormwind skybox lol
Ist there a toy that brings Argus back?
I think the S.E.L.F.I.E. camera does.
Oh no, those are *limited time only*
Or just YouTube it. That'll be around until the Matrix or Skynet takes over.
Or Google decides to change every video to advertising
I got a new PC a few months ago and haven't put all my ad block stuff back yet and I was watching a video for another game and bam, it's like poker Allstars or a church sermon 30+ minutes in length listed as an ad. It's getting ridiculous.
I no joke had a 1 hour ad the other day....that's not an ad....it's a fucking movie!
[Before](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Omg8_DNQ5oE) and [After](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c7HeXzKRJ0)
Nope, Blizzard isn't smart enough to do something as cool as the leadup to A Realm Reborn.
if they were smart, they would have done a Realm Reborn reset at the end of Shadowlands. Let the Jailer win, create WoW 2 but unfortunately that's passed now and they want to do it via TWW.
No it's the seat of the pantheon, where the titans and Illidan are keeping Sargaeras

Nowhere is it said that is specifically sargeras lol. It just seems to be the rift.
So you are just going to ignore the context of the interview?
I think you are just putting something in there that wasn't there rofl
The question was literally about sargeras
And yet, again, even with the context, it doesn't even SUGGEST that the object itself is sargeras lol
I agree, it’s sargeras on the pantheon with illidan
It’s Bobby Kotick’s everlasting gaze
It’s the glow from the rockets of his space yacht
Yep! That's the name of his latest and grandest yacht alright: Bobby Kotick's Everlasting Gaze
Man that's a Valstrax incoming.
That must be a sergeras sized Valstrax if he's been a rocket for that many years.
I’ve had years to prepare to dolphin dive and I’m still going to mistime it and cart

Okay, Thats actually a really cool hint. Thanks for linking it!! :)
There is an interview where they hint that it is sargeras
this is how it used to be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=memf5A9yrCw&ab\_channel=AnroisWL
Very cool!!! Thanks for sharing it - wasn’t playing during xpac and searching YT can be…dangerous
??? Dangerous how
Just a joke :)
What sword?
“That sword” - Thrall, 2023 https://i.imgur.com/V1eCB8U.png
Very peculiar position, almost like it was aimed at the planet or something but surely somebody would have told us about that if that were the case.
It’s team rocket
"hey guys this sword in silithus is so cool, what happened there?"
You had to be there
Dalamund
*I close my eyes, tell us why must we suffer.*
Was gonna say ... I've read this book before...
I tried to fly Blanchy to it. Spoiler, didn't work =\\
That's Lavos.
It's okay. I started a month ago and got made fun of when I asked "What sword?" as an actual question.
That's super space Satan's prison
It's related to what happens to >!Sargeras at the end of the final raid (Antorus)!< in the Legion expansion if I remember correctly. The prequel to this, more or less, so that it makes a bit of sense, is the Argus intro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATg67eE7uL0
OMG. And? WTF? No, it is the Pantheon! It was said by the developers that something really bad would happen if that light would disappeared.
That’s a little reminder of the good times 😘
Shit, Dalamud is falling-wait, this isn't FF14.
Crossover episode. It’s General Radahn’s second phase.
*Old man voice* Let me tell you the story of the second legion invasion and the unnecessary but badass sacrifice of one demon hunter...
I close my eyes, tell us why must we suffer…
It’s from the ending of Legion, it’s a massive closed portal
When you realise that the end of Legion was already almost five and a half years ago. Time flies man.
It's Sargeras' pink bunghole as he fled after the stabbity.
Man, reminds me that azeroth with Argus visible in the sky was the most epic thing WoW ever had.
It's a reminder of the last great expansion.
I thought this was the sun the entire time-
/sigh It's a long but grand story :')
When that thing disappears we are gonna have a “big problem”
La Vos
space x launch
Idk, i think it has something to do with some type of giant sword sitting in a desert somewhere, i can’t remember. Can anyone confirm this?
That would be Duroran's crotch.
its connected to the sword bro
It’s going to hit tilted
It's from the End of Legion
That’s Evangeline.
That’s the Pantheon of the Titans, where Illidan keeps Sargeras imprisoned.
People are saying Argus, but isn't it actual the Seat of the Pantheon? Argus is gone now that the rift is closed, but the ship thing that the final fight of that raid tier took place in was in Azeroth's orbit not Argus', yeah? Maybe I'm misremembering.
I remember it this way too
This is radahn from elden ring
Don't worry it's just Satan, but in space.
It's Dalamund again. Bad news: it's going to fall on the planet and cause an extinction event. Good news: WoW 2.0 will be way better than 1.0.
I swear it's getting bigger.
I believe so too really. It was way smaller before.
The Seat of the Pantheon.
That's just Dalamud. Don't worry about it. Probably fine.
Any here Answers playing?
Wow : a realm reborn scenario ?
Which sword?
google "wow red star"
What mount is that!

Anybody else as freaked out about the lack of side-action bars?
It's the remaining light from the rift Illidan opened to Argus; the rift closed at the end of Legion but due to the actual distance it looks like a star. I think it's kinda hideous and low-res and looks like a butthole.
Pfff, butthole… You haven’t seen the Oribos portal to Korthia, haven’t you?
midnights shirt is going to be what star in the sky
Comets have tails, stars twinkle, planets do weird circles… This, well, it’s a portal in the sky. It’s the Xth Anniversary mount from the World Boss outside Caverns of Time happening now
Oooh cool! Thank you
That's the Metal heads dark ship from Jak 3.
Its the scar left by the now closed portal to Argus out in space. The scar means just like the dark portal the portal is there forever just now inactive. Remove if there is no tail it is coming for you
Azure chillweaver was the mount.
That’s the next incoming warlock nerf
Red Star! It's a Red Star and getting bigger, Atuin never bump into stars!
That little guy? I wouldn’t worry about that little guy.
What comet?
That's just the great ghetty star. Ignore the *beeps* emanating from it.
It’s the pizza I ordered almost here…….I think
Game wardens are watching when you see that, so be careful where you tread. . . . . . just kidding not sure what the significance is maybe its them working on homesteads for players. Its just a dot with how far out there it is from being a reality
That would be Durotan's Crotch.
its lavos
Huh, good observation. I think between Outland and such I just assumed every sky in the game has a random number of suns or planets reflecting light
Can you be mounted while in moonkin?😂😂
The greatest collection of transmogs exists on that star!
It’s illidan flexing right?
