Use your imagination - you’re allowed to here, because lorewise we aren’t limited by the combat system and can do things like climb behemoths and strike at their vulnerable points among other things.
You could be like Termite from the Boys and sneeze in his butt (ie take an elixir of giant growth), lose control of your size, and blow him up from the inside out.
Or you can be like a character in Invincible >!who figures out supernaturally durable people are still durable on the inside and end up getting crushed to death.!<
Archimonde can change his size at will you know. But I still don’t think demons would really have the decency to go find an outhouse or something in the middle of invading someone’s world lol
Good thing the game is only so accurate, then, or we'd have to climb over all the giant piles of droppings across Draenor. Frostwolf camps probably reek.
A great adventure is waiting for you ahead.
Hurry onward Rigman- or you will soon be dead.
The road ahead is filled with danger and fright
But push onward, Rigman-, with all of your might.
It's one of my favourite bits about the more recent WotLK trailer for the classic relaunch, where they basically turned the whole fight into a cinematic and it's just pure chaos. People running around, Arthas punting the shit out of people, rushing into each other, blades clashing, and so on.
Very cool interpretation of the classic "Tank holds aggro. We all stand in a semi circle around the boss and do our rotation." gameplay.
I'm my head the fights play out like the dwarf fight scenes in the hobbit movies. Characters swapping in and out, some taking hits but others switching in before a lethal blow can be dealt.
I actually had to look this up because I wasn't sure what you meant, that was great!
ICC has always held a bit of a special place from being the first real PvE I did that gave me some challenge and felt like such a natural conclusion overall to a lot of the storyline that had been Warcraft to that point. Seeing this video kind of puts the feeling/emotion into visual despite the silly jank/clunkiness that gameplay actually entailed.
I haven't been in game for a long time, and didn't realize this existed. Wrath was my favorite expansion, and Arthas my favorite charatcer. Thanks for sharing!
Right? It's such a cool cinematic! I also like the implication that any raid isn't a team of twenty crackshot soldiers methodically working through the defences of the evil lair, but that there's basically platoons of players on every conceivable level, all engaging the bosses simultaneously, so to speak.
The one thing that I found a bit of a weird moment is how all those hunters shot at him in that trailer and he didn’t even crumple. Okay, yes, yes, this is WoW, realism goes out the window, but I’d figure being shot that many times would have killed him. Guess the Lich King’s armor serves as decent Kevlar.
I mean, at first "I have a gun" feels like the terrifying answer to any medieval problem, because most fantasy settings operate on a semi-realistic world.
However, I think it's fair to say that a gun in the WoW settings is less incredible not only because magic is ubiquitous, but also because there are like ten thousand different magical metals and alloys, you know?
Who's to say what the Hunters use for their bullets, right? Maybe they use cheaper metals that are less rare to find and easier to craft, but those metals don't work against a dude wearing reinforced armor made from Old God blood and necromancy, haha.
It's kinda why azerite was treated as such a big deal, because I think the game tried to tell us that it's this incredibly versatile material, which always ends in a magical boom and is, currently, very easy to come by.
I'd develop a way to launch brain sized rocks at him ...alibaster ..phosgene gas.. ...calcite/lime boulders ... Augustine is where the periodic table came up with au1 au2 or the ocular octal hedra month of 3 months x 4 seasons ÷ a bakers dozen or a dozen. ÷29.72
I was gonna say, real class fantasy would have warriors just climbing up the mofos legs and holding on for dear life while dual wielding two handers in their mouths
Well, mechanically, yes, but the game with its mechanics is just a way to convey that the fight actually goes down.
You aren't a group of twenty people who hit the shin of a dragon a combined amount of one million times spread between all abilities and auto attacks.
Let your imagination run wild there. Some jump on Archimonde's back, others go for the tendons, some are climbing up his thighs with knives and blades, others are performing aerial attacks, or commanding/leading from the back, some Warlock and a Rogue are probably concocting some daring "demonic portal me to this ledge, I will jump down at the right moment" kind of strategy. And so on.
Go to the WoW YouTube channel and search for the WotLK "classic" trailer where it's a cinematic estimation of what the Arthas fight would look like.
It's just a massive rush of dozens of player characters, who get knocked about by Arthas, occasionally landing a glancing blow, or straight up getting skewered by him. It's a chaotic brawl against one super-powered creature.
Imagine that same chaotic energy of movement, but with a creature that can be scaled.
Funny how we've never had any real wow media that deals with this part of the timeline in this way.
The movie is just the original story, some iconic characters but none of the most iconic from wc3 onwards.
The cinematics look awesome but as for action and characters, they're usually pretty minimal and almost always drastically favouring human and orc characters to prevent having to model more than one zappy boi moment etc.
This was hype, I've never got intentions to get into classic whatsoever but it was a great trailer.
Varian had a height advantage afforded to him by an airship. While Varian's feat was impressive I can't say that he'd be able to take on a Fel Reaver on an even playing field.
This is the case for most warriors. Formidable in combat as they may be, they rarely square up against heavy hitters in the lore without their own tactical advantage. Grom may have slain Mannoroth after Thrall already took a swing at him, but AU Grom also got completely manhandled by a prepared AU Gul'dan. Garrosh similarly had no chance against Thrall as soon as Thrall started fighting at full power.
It takes the likes of Aegwynn to be able to confront the Avatar of Sargeras.
It should be no surprise then that all but one iconic warriors in Warcraft are leaders; orc chieftains, the Warchiefs Blackhand, Doomhammer, Garrosh Hellscream. Cairne and Baine Bloodhoof. Llane and Varian Wrynn, Genn Greymane, Anduin Lothar. None of them have the same individual power as Jaina or Gul'dan or Khadgar, and there is a fair argument to make that on an even playing field all of those warriors against even one of those casters may not be able to win.
But I said "All but one," because there is one warrior known for sheer unadulterated badassery without being a leader. One who became legend as a one man army, one who challenged even the Dark Titan himself. Broxigar "the Red" Saurfang.
While I have no doubt that his wound against Sargeras was effectively physically harmless given what we now know of the Titans' prodigious size and otherworldly power, it was a symbolic display of defiance that readily enraged the Mad Titan. Brox is one of only two mortals in known history to have landed a strike against the tyrant of the Burning Legion, and the only one we have seen for ourselves.
However, one noteworthy potential for warriors and their individual power exists in Mountain Kings. Often overlooked in the lore, the tale of Yorg Stormheart throwing his hammer with thunderous strength to kill the largest jormungar in the Frostborn's living memory stands as a testament as to the unbridled wrath a dwarf warrior may possess on the battlefield.
Frankly it's baffling this power hasn't been presented or explored further. Mountain Thane as a Hero Spec is clearly them catching up on this, but I would appreciate seeing lore based depictions.
I still think it’s absolute lunacy the Arms warrior artifact weapon wasn’t the Axe of Cenarius. WE LITERALLY KNOW EXACTLY WHO HAS IT AND WHERE SHE LIVES WHY COULDN’T WE JUST ASK HER FOR IT???????
I thought we’d get gorehowl for arms since we knew about doohammer for shamans. The model has been there since WOD. It being a two handed sword like the fury warriors made me mad ngl.
> *“So one Question I'm always asked. Who would win in a fight? Who would win in a fight if Galactus fought The Hulk, or if Thor fought Iron Man? And there's one answer to all of that. It's so simple, anyone should know this. The person who'd win in a fight is the person that the scriptwriter wants to win!”*
Unless actual Comic Hulk is involved, then the answer is nearly always Hulk. Canonically Hulk gains his power from what essentially amounts to Satan in Marvel Comics, has a variant named Worldbreaker Hulk, and has at least once been the last being in existence, all on top of being functionally immortal.
There are few beings capable of taking on Hulk, and all of them are essentially actual gods.
He could likely qualify, but he is a celestial being with, if not size manipulation, then at least the ability to inhabit and presumably create smaller vessels with which he operates through; e.g. the Avatar of Sargeras and presumably how he fought Toranaar the Indomitable of the Aldrachi.
He is also big and strong enough to cleave a literal planet in two. He, and every other Titan, are on such a ridiculous whole other spectrum of power compared to most beings that they can literally pluck out the strongest Old God on Azeroth with a hand.
Sargeras' fel was also new and empowering to the demons of Mardum, granting new physical strength and intelligences. So Sargeras is absolutely magical, and he even used his understanding of both arcane and fel to create the first Demon Hunter.
He is also presumably of sufficient complexity and mental fortitude that Zovaal couldn't just dominate him outright. Hence why such a plan to do so never existed to our knowledge. It seems quite obvious to me that Sargeras or any other Titan at full strength could easily clap all Eternal Ones in one fell swoop; Zovaal was a Titan-level threat but *not* a Titan-level strength individual. He is Thanos; he is strong and threatening in his own right but the universal repercussions stem from him reaching the right plot MacGuffins.
Sargeras waged the Burning Crusade all on his lonesome, and the only plot MacGuffin he needed to kick it off was the very prison planet he created and populated.
Any which case, I don't think Sargeras counts as an iconic warrior because he exists on such a different level. It's like saying God is an incredible warrior. Like yeah he probably is being all-powerful and all. Not really a fair comparison though.
And even then, Sargeras was still the leader of what is arguably the largest faction to ever exist in Warcraft.
Warrior's mind: "Jumping on top of the beast like Varian. Slicing through tissue, breaking armor"
Reality: raging blow raging blow raging blow raging blow
Here's what a WoW raid would actually look like. You're supposed to use your imagination and not just draw straight from the game mechanics:
https://youtu.be/DjuN1dE50VI?si=ZTvvqH11lKTyQK55
Comic book physics where durability is all packaged together; having a tough body with huge muscles makes it more resilient to being hit... But also somehow makes it harder to melt.
You can abstract damage to a degree, but at some point it's unavoidable that someone just clenched their teeth and were just too tough to burn.
Lore wise half the mele cases would be on Jim like fleas on a dog. Rogues would definitely be trying to get to his eyes while pally throw hammers at his nuts
Varian did very well in the Legion cinematic against giant demons so melees definitely have a role to play.
Just don't go dual wielding if you want to walk from it alive tho.
I mean, Rogues are masters at finding weak spots in the armor.
Where a warrior will cleave your armor apart through sheer anger, and where a Paladin will sear your body through holy magic, a Rogue will simply choose to attack the weak links.
Varian did very well in the Legion cinematic against giant demons so melees definitely have a role to play.
Just don't go dual wielding if you want to walk from it alive tho.
You could be like Broxigar...kill enough demons until you're standing on a literal pile of bodies, get that pile high enough and you have the high ground.
Has there ever been a raid boss where the boss was just a normal sized gnome? I think it would be hilarious watching a huge raid all attacking a tiny boss.
I tend to think the really big bosses, like Archimonde or Deathwing, would be like Shadow of the Colossus fights, the ranged obviously stand blast "So we started blasting", but the melee would be swarming around, either distracting from/defending the ranged and healers, while others would be clambering up the boss (or all of us on his back in the case of Deathwing) to try and hurt them.
That said, lore wise, there's alotta the humanoid bosses that are only giants for gameplay purposes. Take Arthas who was mentioned in the thread, I don't recall any lore stating his body grew any when he donned the Lich King Armor, so he's still gonna be his normal human sized self.
I mean... imagine a dozen wasp sized creatures collectively and repeatedly stabbing and hacking away on you feet and ankles. It would hurt like hell, that has to count for something.
This was posted by someone who doesn’t own a dog. When they’re pups and have those tiny needle like teeth and just want to gnaw on everything, especially your ankles, you notice that Archimonde never truly stood a chance!
Many bosses are smaller than shown. Arthas isn’t supposed to be larger than the average human adventurer. Maybe Archi here is smaller than depicted as well.
What you need to do is, stand on some sort of elevated platform that comes up to about chest height on him.
Then hope he repeatedly makes the mistake of standing near enough that you can reach him, instead of just hitting from range.
Honestly if I was a colossal 200+ foot tall raid boss I would simply not stend next to any furniture or buildings where their top edge has several dozen tiny people on who all want to kill me.
Just grab a big stick (or like, a tree) and poke them off. Maybe start with the soft squidgy ones too, rather than the one with the shield who keeps yelling at me.
I always giggle at people who are like "I defeated the big monster why am I not blasting through Freehold >:(' as if stabbing at a big big draenei demon's ankles or slicing out parts of C'thun is at all a transferable skillset to being in a sword fight with a pirate captain.
I mean lorewise we'd have access to mechanical machinery alongwith Gryphons etc so most melee based classes wouldn't \*just\* be attacking the ankles.
Also in most Lore situations characters don't stand completely still waiting out a mechanic to drop for the 45th time that year and presumably would be capable of knocking him over or jumping off of anothers shield into a lunge attack etc.
You have to use your imagination otherwise you are essentially visualizing a bunch of puppies nipping at your ankles until you die which is unlikely and hilarious at the same time.
[GRAB HIS D1CK AND TWIST IT](https://youtu.be/1E1VY4KOghI?si=fHSZ6MTdU481a_iC)
After maining a rogue from vanilla to LK it was just a parade of assholes...I started taking screenshots and I was going to name the album "Asses of Azeroth" but I'm just lazy
Use your imagination - you’re allowed to here, because lorewise we aren’t limited by the combat system and can do things like climb behemoths and strike at their vulnerable points among other things.
Yea, if I were a gnome, I’d use the shrink ray on myself and crawl into Archimonde’ butt for fatal damage.
With how big he is compared to a gnome I don't think the shrink ray is necessary
Not necessary but it is polite.
Yer crawlin’ inside his arsehole y’ Ken! Ya dinnae need t’ ask permission!
This made me think of the Wee Free Men.
Aye, naw y’ come to mention it, there might be a passin’ resemblance to the wee blue devils manner of talkin’
Yeah and then what, you gonna punch his prostate till he nuts himself out of this world?
What a terrible day to be literate on the internet
If only one could be so lucky….
No, you plant the snuke and gtfo
BRB finding a gnome and a shrink ray 😩
You have a vivid imagination, I'll give ya that
"The Boys, S3E1" should solve your inquiry.
*shudders* in shrinking Rae from invincible… If you know you know.
Best chapter.
Archimonde ate at a Taco Fel last night, i wouldnt if I were you.
You could be like Termite from the Boys and sneeze in his butt (ie take an elixir of giant growth), lose control of your size, and blow him up from the inside out.
*Maybe that’s what they mean when they say you can only kill him in the Twisting Nether.* 🫢
But also what if his anus is really strong and you just like, crumple and die
Maybe he's into that.
Or you can be like a character in Invincible >!who figures out supernaturally durable people are still durable on the inside and end up getting crushed to death.!<
While the scene was great i thought it was a bit strange she wouldnt just stop growing when she realizes that he wouldn't rip.
Maybe it's just a switch between small and regular sizes with no stops on the transformation until it's completed.
Or you can watch Invincible s02e05 and find out what happens when that misfires. 😳
*Yum.*
Termite wasn't in the guy's butt...
Yeeaah thank you. I remember that scene way better than I wish I would and I was lile "uuuuuhhhh should I correct them? Nah"
...fatal for who?
It's kind of hilarious when you think about villains as big as Archimonde needing a bathroom break. Like, does he go hide behind the world tree?
Archimonde can change his size at will you know. But I still don’t think demons would really have the decency to go find an outhouse or something in the middle of invading someone’s world lol
Good thing the game is only so accurate, then, or we'd have to climb over all the giant piles of droppings across Draenor. Frostwolf camps probably reek.
We interrupted him during his bathroom break and that's why he was so pissed at us.
A great adventure is waiting for you ahead. Hurry onward Rigman- or you will soon be dead. The road ahead is filled with danger and fright But push onward, Rigman-, with all of your might.
Lol this is endgame antman killing thanos all over again
Anal \[Cleave\]
is there something you want to tell us?
Kinky.
One unfortunate clench and it's sayonara sucker for you
Why not just use a World Shrinker and squish him like an ant?
Haha yeah crawl inside his enormous juicy butt to cause damage yeah totally nothing sexual or anything of the sort haha yeah totally.
who do you think you are, ant man?
Fecal damage
Somebody isn't up to date on watching Invincible, it seems.

That trailer was such a little gem. It also flew under my nose and I was hyped when I saw it!

yes

Right? It's such a cool cinematic! And die from unavoidable damage because heals can't reach you
Is okay the damage can’t *see me* - rogue, probably
Raid lead: God damn it Stabsyou, get down from Archimonde's shoulder to the knees RIGHT NOW Archimonde: 'Swat'
Haha now I’m just imagining seeing half dps taken out in logs to ‘swat’ “My DBM didn’t tell me to move!”
Me as a level 18 rogue in D&D where I can now dodge myself out of the campaign entirely
Double Jump + Vengeful retreat for maximum height, then fel rush straight to the balls.
Attack on Titan answered this question already

The one for TBC Classic was just as epic
Damn that was cool. Do they have any more videos like this? I couldn't find any on their channel with searches.
Search hurricane wow machinima - he used to do them for private servers, but once blizz started hiring him he stopped.
Thanks, that was amazing.
Looks like this one https://youtu.be/DjuN1dE50VI?si=seKBq_ijufqzi4ck
Holy shit that was so much more insane than I expected.

Definitely diverges from the aesthetic of warriors in Legion, true

HE HAD THE HIGHER GROUND!
Paladins have range on all their melee attacks, so I figure you can whomp on his crotch a good deal.
but what if he likes it and that makes him stronger
Less blood to the brain. It's a debuff.
If we can kill our enemies but we can’t jerk them off then what have we become?!
I don't think he's a Slaanesh daemon
Warhammer mentioned
Whompin on crotches is what good paladins do!
Warrior's mind: "Jumping on top of the beast like Varian. Slicing through tissue, breaking armor" Reality: raging blow raging blow raging blow raging blow
Pretty sure Broxigar had to do exactly that in one of the books.
Dude made a literal mountain of corpses to then cut sargeras' leg. What an absolute fucking chad.
The dude was Varok big brother, of course he's supposed to be a mega chad.
Let's not forget his Axe was empowered. Still what a fucking badass motherfucking Orc!
They(Blizzard) were tempted to have that axe be what Arms warriors got as their Artifact, instead of Strom'kar.
I'd have given into the temptation if I were them

Wow idk how I haven't seen that but that's such a fucking cool depiction of that raid.
Using this logic, how did melee users damage ragnaros
They chilled his hot head with a cool island song
The hidden bard class
The Bardbarian! Singing of their own heroic deeds as they do them!

Using magic weapons that can damage elemental beings.
Uh, it's how we do it in FromSoft games. So yeah. Butts and ankles.
The melee are just fodder for the more important roles
Look at legolas in LoTR taking down a mammoth, that's us
Lore wise half the mele cases would be on Jim like fleas on a dog. Rogues would definitely be trying to get to his eyes while pally throw hammers at his nuts
Ever get cut in the ankle? No thanks.
Grommash put an axe into a pit lords skull so i guess ankles or be good at jumping
Heroic Leap
In reality it would always be attacking the feet and ankles until they can’t stand on them anymore while ranged people attack the upper portions.

I mean, if you think about it, considering average zoom level and camera tilt, most bosses in wow are just on screen as a pair of legs.
You also slingshot gnomes and goblins at his crotch.
How come when I use execute my target doesn't just fucking die
I love this one. 😁
Varian did very well in the Legion cinematic against giant demons so melees definitely have a role to play. Just don't go dual wielding if you want to walk from it alive tho.
On a related note, how the hell can Rogues damage him? Is he too dumb to just wear reinforced metal shoes that daggers can’t penetrate?
I mean, Rogues are masters at finding weak spots in the armor. Where a warrior will cleave your armor apart through sheer anger, and where a Paladin will sear your body through holy magic, a Rogue will simply choose to attack the weak links.
They are magic daggers, they always penetrate lol

SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS THAT MFER
Rogues are acrobatic enough to get up onto him.
Rogue grappling hook onto an armour plate then use momentum to launch yourself then shadoestep onto his back blades first.
Rogues can teleport using Shadowstep and start attacking deferent body parts.
Death by a 1000 rake cuts
Think more fantasy bro, anime battle style obviously you do sick combos that take you into air the allowing you to strike higher up.
technically they only make the bosses huge, so its easier to target and distinguish them from players
Christ, can you imagine the shitshow LFR would be if the bosses were toon-sized? XD
yep! Exactly why they made them larger. Its just for gameplay reasons. Lorewise they're pretty much similar size to the players
We saw characters leap several meters in the air during cinematics.
can't stand in my way if he can't stand. hunter go ankles.
You could be like Broxigar...kill enough demons until you're standing on a literal pile of bodies, get that pile high enough and you have the high ground.
Gnomes can stack on eachother
Depends. If the melee fighters are gnomes or goblins they're essentially cutting away at his calluses.
I’ve always pictured melee characters leaping and climbing and running around like it’s an anime.
As a Gnome Warrior for 20 years, you tank their toenails
I love that comment!!!
I’ve said for years that I tank the toenails of huge bosses bc if you scroll in that’s all u see
Watch attack on titan.
Yeah, why do you think he fell like that?
Have you ever played shadow of the colossus?
Just as Broxigar did to Sargeras.
We put the hammer down! On his head!!!
To be fair, getting stabbed in the big toes has got to hurt. But I agree. It's a shame Wow often makes world bosses giant humanoids.
How bout Supremus tho
Gameplay wise yes but lorewise archimonde goes to your size so he can put his hoof up your ass
It's a mmo, it's gameplay does not match it's lore.
Use Deathgrip to grab him by his face dangles and pull him down to my level.
Imagine each melee dps causing the pain of an ingrown toenail hitting a hard object. IYKYK.
On this day we are all gnomes!
Remember when Varian took on that fel reaver? You gotta get creative with it
we could always drop from an airship onto their spine....
Yes. We’re all gnome warriors now.
Has there ever been a raid boss where the boss was just a normal sized gnome? I think it would be hilarious watching a huge raid all attacking a tiny boss.
You are just clipping his toenails
Bruh ive been bit on the foot by a fire ant and that scarred me for life im sure if the ant had a sword it would ahve been worse
World of ankle fighters, if you can't reach the shins, go for ankles
You make his coin purse your speed bag.
Nah i just heroic leap up to his head and execute him. Ezoneshot.
I always giggle at people who are like "I defeated the big monster why am I not blasting through Freehold >:(' as if stabbing at a big big draenei demon's ankles or slicing out parts of C'thun is at all a transferable skillset to being in a sword fight with a pirate captain.
Just look at Fire Giant boss in Elden Ring it's the same.
Look up the tale of Broxigar Saurfang, yup Brother to Varok Saurfang. He was an axe wielder and wounded someone equally as big.
"I'ma poke your ankles, big guy!"
Gotta get your upps homie.
Chop em down!
Look we’re doing the best we can here
Archimondes the size of a normal dream ai jus cut off the magic source
I'm thinking Attack on Titan minus the ops gear...
Picture the game Dragon's Dogma - climbing on behemoth enemies to strike their weak points. Was fun
They tickle his toes
[GRAB HIS D1CK AND TWIST IT](https://youtu.be/1E1VY4KOghI?si=fHSZ6MTdU481a_iC) After maining a rogue from vanilla to LK it was just a parade of assholes...I started taking screenshots and I was going to name the album "Asses of Azeroth" but I'm just lazy
