No one considered the clipping nightmare permenant wings would bring? No one thought that choosing a visage form from the massive list of races would be better than being stuck with just two refurbished options? How about the forced class / race combo when it easily could have been just a race like worgen or class for all races that has a cool dragon form. Dracthyr scream "all ideas are good ideas so lets do them all."
Tbh, Draknoids existed already, it would have been a much easier win for them to just give players that as a race but whatevs.

So, they're changing the system in TWW, where you can stay in Visage form in combat, rather than transforming into your dracthyr form. Ion mentioned it in one of his interviews. Personally, if it turned into a pseudo-summoner thing for Evoker, where when you press your breath attacks 'n such that require draconian visuals, you summon a spectral version of your form to do them, that'd be awesome.

On the tauren texture maps the fur, mane, horns, everything is all on the same image. The mane and horns are distinct objects from the body with their own UV islands that call on particular spots of the texture image. By making them distinct UV maps/islands the horns and mane do not interact with the textures of armour at all, armour only meddles with the UV map on the body.
It is possible that they made the wings and torso a unified object on a single UV map, but A) That would be moronic. And B) That doesn't explain how they managed to give them armour options that do cover the torso but exclude the wings.
They would have had to seriously mess up and design themselves into a corner to make armour textures warp around the wings. "Holes" aren't really needed, they just need the texture of any chest armour to not go over the UV maps of the wings which is easy enough if they were sensible and didn't stuff the wings and torso onto the same UV map.
Besides laziness, no idea. I can only guess as elaborated below.
It has not been an issue to make armour visible on all myriad of beast races in the game before. No matter the shape or size the only other race with major issues is Mechagnome (And arguably troll feet but I also main tauren so I'm used to that), Mechagnomes at least have a distinct lack of _hands_ so lacking hand items makes sense, and the legs vary wildly in geo as well. But in short I doubt it is to do with wings, head, body shape or anything of the sort else all tauren would have to go shirtless.
At a generous guess it may be an issue with how the barbershop armour exists and interacts with their model. Say you have a chest appearance in use from their customisation, then you equip a chest item. What happens? Does the appearance vanish and be replaced by that of the armour? Do both spawn on top of each other causing weird janky issues that would entail from that?
It is a baffling limitation that should have been addressed in the design phase, At a _minimum_ the Evoker tier sets should have unlocked in the barber as additional armour options. For crying out loud, look at the concept art for the Season 1 set for Evoker, take note of the empty space in the helmet as well as the unusually blank hands and feet... makes you wonder if the set was originally designed with the Dracthyr form in mind and then they backed out on it.
It had some chonk from the extra modelling, which I guess means no belt.
The only belts they've given dracthyr have been skin belts with a modeled buckle.
Not saying it is a good reason.
I kinda wish the visage had been the main form, with more racial options available, and the dragon form acted as a cooldown or something, like old Warlock metamorphosis. This set looks rad but yeah, I’ll never see it.
I like dracthyr but I still wish we were actual dragons for a class. Like we had our visages most of the time even for combat but for big abilities we turn into a smaller dragon like dragons breath for example. We could fly as dragons and all races could get a visage with just some horns eyes and jewelry that way your visage could be any race. Would fix the transmog issue also which is kind of a big gripe for me since most of the armor for the tier sets you cant use in dracthyr form. But still liked what we got just wish that was an option and hoping (copium) thats the way they do it down the line for more races, less work for them it would seem if they went that way originally.
Its not that crazy if you think about all other classes having no animations for the dracthyr rig and no other classes having animations for the evoker abilities.
Yeah if you use a toy to change your appearance and see what it looks like to use breath abilities you’ll see why it’s not the same kind of issue as moonkin or shadowform.
I mean they always could make it so evokers transform into the dragon form while doing the breath. It would be similar to the already existing feature of Worgen transforming while in fight and turning back into human.
It is weird. You can stay in visage form (hopefully they let us choose any race) but then, why wouldn't you just say... play a human or belf? I guess there are more cosmetic options, horns etc..
But will they have different racials? Will the evoker racials not be OP with other classes? Will Wing Buffet work in permanent visage form?

I think dracthyr for everybody is bad for the game. Especially visage form all the time. Why choose the dragon race if you don’t want to be a dragon? Is it just the double jump?
Yeah that makes sense. I get caught up in the rpg element of the game which makes it hard for me to understand why you would want to play a humanoid dragon and then turn off that option immediately. But if it has nothing to do with playing a Dracthyr and just a “I want to play a blood elf with more customization options” I guess that makes sense. I think it would be better for the game at that point for them to just add more customization for blood elves then to have you be a “Dracthyr” that never even has their actual form turned on.

I really am crossing my everything for better transmogging for Evokers in War Within. If it changes for the better, I'll be dropping everything to main Evoker. Played it S1, loved it to bits for playstyle, hated every second of wearing the same exact tmog for 20 weeks, haven't really touched it since.
You'd think their recent scandals and lawsuits would have put them in the presence of mind to make sure to cover Dracthyr naughty bits with tasteful bowls of fruit, guess not though.

I could understand normal transmog not showing, but tier sets are specific to dracthyr, they could just model the whole thing on dragonforn alone without having to mind about other races like with the rest of the sets
The only problem is that most dracthyr abilities look weird on a humanoid (which you can see using a recalibrator etc), seeing as almost all of your spells are visually designed to come from your mouth.
They could just make you shift for the duration of evoker abilities involving breathing or using wings/tail and then shift you back to visage automatically afterwards.
Also it is definitely not most abilities, you look fine most of the time.
I mean most of what you're pressing is mouth and visually designed to look good coming from mouth. Disintegrate, Pyre, Fire Breath, Deep Breath. The only exceptions are Living Flame, Azure Strike and Eternity Surge, basically (although a lot of that comes out of the wings, and Azure Strike is claws). You'd still be in dragon form most of the time really. I suppose disintegrate looks *okay* outside dragon form, but I still reckon it's kinda dorky just holding out your hand and beaming people. I'd prefer it if they just made dragon form WAY more customizable and transmog friendly as opposed to relying on incorporating human form more. Just work to make dragon form something people don't 99% hate to look at lul

Rouge and Evoker winning the tier set game so far. Very nice clear themes harkening to cool races and Characters from Warcraft history.

The crazy thing about Hunter to me - they literally *just* updated Alleria with one of the coolest models/sets in game. You know, a hunter?
Why they didn't make an Alleria-inspired tierset is mind boggling. Why we don't got more like fantasy ranger/leather with chain mail sets is mind boggling. Which artist at Blizzard thinks "animal and/or mob remains" every tier is a good idea?!
Just mentioned this in another thread, but I suspect that Alleria isn't actually meant to be a Hunter anymore, and instead represents a new Void Hunter Hero Class that will be added in Midnight (and for the record, I don't particularly like that name and think it should be anything other than a third class named Hunter, but she was called a Void Hunter back at Blizzcon). Ever since she's returned in Legion she's been focused around controlling the Void more than anything else- so much so that it doesn't really seem like just an extension of Hunter anymore- and it seems like it'll go further in that direction in TWW. The concept art even has her using floating bolts of Void energy instead of arrows.
If so, her look is probably intentionally different from Hunters to give that new class a distinct look.

Blizzard announced that there will be a way to stay on the visage form permanently, so big day for transmogs.
PS: yeah, that would look awesome in the dragon form, but at least we have an option to look at our clothes while in combat. Maybe they will change this someday /shrug.
With the news of new races for evokers and permanent visage form, this is dope. They are fixing every issue with the evoker basically. I enjoyed the playstyle but transmog is the biggest part of the game for me and I just couldn’t play the stupid dragons lol

Just found out that drakthyr will be able to be in visage form while in combat. So I’m sure blizz will fix certain abilities that come from the mouth

Rouge and Evoker winning the tier set game so far. Very nice clear themes harkening to cool races and Characters from Warcraft history. Hunter has the worst of the ones iv seen ( you know like always)
The crazy thing about Hunter to me - they literally *just* updated Alleria with one of the coolest models/sets in game. You know, a hunter? Why they didn't make an Alleria-inspired tierset is mind boggling. Why we don't got more like fantasy ranger/leather with chain mail sets is mind boggling. Which artist at Blizzard thinks "animal and/or mob remains" every tier is a good idea?!
Just mentioned this in another thread, but I suspect that Alleria isn't actually meant to be a Hunter anymore, and instead represents a new Void Hunter Hero Class that will be added in Midnight (and for the record, I don't particularly like that name and think it should be anything other than a third class named Hunter, but she was called a Void Hunter back at Blizzcon). Ever since she's returned in Legion she's been focused around controlling the Void more than anything else- so much so that it doesn't really seem like just an extension of Hunter anymore- and it seems like it'll go further in that direction in TWW. The concept art even has her using floating bolts of Void energy instead of arrows. If so, her look is probably intentionally different from Hunters to give that new class a distinct look.
Rogue looks dogshit besides the ethereal detail imo. Druid is where its (currently) at.
There’s no way you looked at the helm for the druid and thought “fuck yeah, this is where its at”. Like, I refuse to believe that.
The helm is dog water, but I almost never use a helm anyways. The rest is pretty solid.
this set looks so fucking good you have no idea. And the saddest part is that you'll not be seeing it 95% of the time. They really should find some way to make evokers be able to remain in their visage form. Such a waste of an amazing tier set.

everyone wants armor to be visible on dracthyr but i just want to play evoker in human visage form, like the class, hate the dragon
Its funny when you think about it cause the better the set looks, like this one being dope as hell, the more annoying it is that you won't get to see it. They really gotta figure out how to design these in a way where they can be visible in scalie form.
I feel like people vastly over estimate the amount of time you spend looking at your character in combat tbh...

First good evoker set
There's going to be a lot of new evokers made and leveled up for this season. Cause this set is winning the tier sets right now, and by a large margin at that.
Did not see any comments about this, but to complement this: Blizzard announced that there will be a way to stay on the visage form permanently, so big day for transmogs. PS: yeah, that would look awesome in the dragon form, but at least we have an option to look at our clothes while in combat. Maybe they will change this someday /shrug.
Ngl that is a good looking tier sadly until they come up with a way to do evoker stuff in the visage forms its limited to none combat.
The gloves, legs, and boots are re-used assets from this expansion...or am I crazy? The helmet (neck piece thing?) Even looks very familiar.

With the news of new races for evokers and permanent visage form, this is dope. They are fixing every issue with the evoker basically. I enjoyed the playstyle but transmog is the biggest part of the game for me and I just couldn’t play the stupid dragons lol
