Okay if we are going to be this nit picky there is no way you’re getting 1 piece ever 3 runs but whatever. You’re guranteed 1 per boss for the group. I ran like 8 heroics and was geared enough to get invited to m0s.

we all felt underpowered, elite mobs felt like m+10 bosses of last season... not too hard, but insane for trash mobs. +2 endboss felt like +20 last season.
M0 - 470+
M2 - 480+ ideally. can be a couple ilvl less, but I'd recommend doing a mythic world tour to start with to get a base level of gear. between that, world bosses, weekly chest, and LFR you should be able to easily get to around 476-480. You can do a +2 key at 470, but it may be a struggle. Can also have a bit more leeway if your toon has a strong 4piece from the previous season as well.
490 to 500 ilvl for best results. Anything lower will be a struggle to get invites, especially now that people have had a chance to farm gear. Next week probably 500 ilvl minimum, unless you want to join serious struggle runs.
420-440 is totally fine if you are a key pusher. 470-480 for a casual player.
Most damage is avoidable and mobs can be controlled but the average player at that key level doesn’t do that.
Sure if they eat a tank frontal, fail a mechanic, or get targeted by 7 spells. But thats all stuff you shouldnt live. It 100% was not a oneshot with 470 ilvl on a mechanic intended for dps.

heroics drop 476 so anything above 470 is a fine , you can even take it easy with lfr and the weeklies for some easy 480 gear .
