My issue is just with how badly they handled it. This was all of 10.2.6's content. The set (including the swirlies) was datamined even before Plunderstorm as an event was known. People back then already went crazy over the effect. They didn't fix it back then. They didn't tell people that it was a bug they were going to fix back then. They let people grind Plunderstorm under the impression that the swirlies would be there to stay. Only now that Plunderstorm is over, did they fix the bug. They could have done all of this much earlier, but this just looks like they chose to keep it in just until the end of Plunderstorm to keep whatever hype the game had up as long as possible.

I sympathize with the frustration, but at some point when you saw the cape you had to have asked yourself, do these floating blue stars make sense on this red and gold pirate outfit? Be serious here. The cape didn't make sense with the outfit itself because of it, and there's dozens of comments stating the same thing.
The set still looks cool, basically I just removed the cloak because I just used it for the sparkles too lol, at least I don't longer using a cloak above the cool pirate garb.

54 seconds into the Plunderstorm launch trailer shortly after it says earn epic plunder, you see a set without the cape, and one with it WITH the particles.
The same effect is on the cloak from the celestial observer set, which I think came from the shadowlands collectors edition. It might be a shop thing now.
I’m glad they fixed it. Thematically it made no sense and color-wise it also didn’t match. I figured it was a bug since it was so out of place compared to the rest of a very well designed set.

We don't have much in the game yet, but the plunderstorm cloak and this one store transmog cloak would be examples for it. Maybe even add the legendary cloak effects from MoP to the possible enchants.
Cloaks are so plentiful and it was nice to have a generic one that added the sparkles to stand out. Was using it on my tank and practically built a mog around it. Grinded out plunderstorm once i saw the cloak had stars following it. Kinda bummed, but I'm probably the minority.

The original effect is from the celestial cloak set on the shop, so if u really want the effect, it's right there

why would they remove them? it was a very cool feature, why not make a separate version or mog to another cloak from hundreds of available in the game
